    Nice work. But your current setup for 2 bikes costs about $180-200, wouldnt it be easier to get a tailgate cover for $250ish and you can transport up to 5 bikes? Thanks for the vid.

      Yes it would have been easier but have also gave it alot of thought. With the tailgate cover, I would have had to either take off the bike pad when parked (so no one steals it) or leave it on with the tailgate cover open. I decided to go this route so I can leave the tailgate cover down when out for a ride.

      @@JOSHIC what if I have a tonneau cover? Then people won't be able to steal it unless they cut the strap and try to yank it out.

      @@hermanchan6260 I don’t think my tonneau cover would close all the way with the tail gate pad on.

    Thanks for sharing this. I think with my limited carpentry skills I could actually make this. 😏 Question on the 1Up USA wheel tray - in their catalog they show the tray being used with the bike rear wheel and the raised arm coming over the back of that wheel. Was there a reason you opted for the front wheel instead? I would think having the back wheel in the tray would be more stable. Thanks again.

      Pretty easy to install, you got this. Main purpose was to secure the bike against the back of the bed and to make sure the front wheel doesn’t move. Don’t think you would be able to do it with the back wheel as the 1up tray would be on the outside of the back tire and not the inside. Hope that makes sense. You wouldn’t be able to secure the back tire against the back of the bed because the frame would be in the way.

      @@JOSHIC Thanks for the quick reply. Good point on securing the frame. I was thinking of turning the tray around so the support arm would open up facing the tailgate instead of the truck cab as you have it. It would then secure the rear tire from behind the derailleur. But I’d have to identify another anchor point for the front of the frame from which to secure the bungee chord. Will do some dry runs with tape before I start drilling and bolting things down. Thanks again for sharing and answering questions! 👍🏼👏🏼

      @@troutseeker6785 yea man any time. Let me know how it goes! You can probably buy some of those Velcro ties to secure the front tired down to the wood or something. You’re only limited to your imagination man haha. 🤛🏻💪🏻

    How do u keep the tailgate from jumping around when u driving … is there a way to lock the tailgate open?

      @JOSHIC  6 місяців тому +1

      You could tie the tailgate down with a strap to the trailer hitch. That should prevent it from bouncing around.

    I think it was about $50 I spent on PVC pipe, fittings and paint to make a 3 bike carrier for my Maverick.

      @@JOSHIC sorry I don’t. If you search PVC bike rack for truck and check images you can get an idea. That’s how I got the idea and just improvised to fit.
