Hi, I have an XLT, love the truck, but the original customer did not order the truck with a household style plug in the bed and I would like to put one in. Is there any videos on how to do that?
It would be perfect if it had a trunk in the bed like the cruz and the ridgline. But tis pretty close i'll probably get one if its actually reliable. I wonder if you could mount kayak wracks on 2x4 and haul them that way sense the bed is so tiny?
I noticed they used construction grade plywood. What about MDF and cabinet grade 4x8 sheets which come 49"x97" it looked like it fit kind of tight hopefully there is enough room for 49"" wide sheets.
So, you don't need to add an additional bedliner (hard drop-in or spary-in) with the standard Flexbed? In other words, The Flexbed has all the cladding for the bed interior shown in this video?
There are rumors of plug-in hybrid and pure EV versions coming. Sign me up! If I could get a plug-in hybrid with a 30-40 mile battery range I could then drive to the office on battery, charge it at the office (at no cost) and make it back home and charge at home. And still have the range of a gas engine for road trips. And be able to make Home Depot runs on the weekend. Sounds like the perfect commuter car to me.
Ford's ingenuity with these 2x4 slots also came on my Dodge Dakota back in 1997. The multi-level tailgate thing also came on my 2010 Chevy Colorado. None of this is innovative, but it's nice that they included it.
LOL California. Send a letter to your Congress person (Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Adam Shiff or any of the other Democrat corruption) and complain about the cost of living in California. Oh wait, that won't do any good because they are big part of the problem.
I find it funny they talk about the slats for the planks. Trucks have had those for decades, like it’s something new. It’s understandable that those that but they probably have never had a truck before
I bought a Maverick and I can't find a place to find all the dimensions of wood that I need for all the bed slots. Even my own manual doesn't have it. Can you provide it?
Remark number you can get 12 volt adapters that will fit the opening for the 12 accessory hookups that are installed. Remark number 2 yeah my Toyota Tacoma has a cubby on both sides they will not stay shut no matter what the hell I do, tried adding extra tape, tried bending the and goddamn things won't stay shut, and I never drive off road! And it has a 110 volt Outlet on one side. The ironic part is I will sell my 2013 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner that is paid for at $23,500 and I will take delivery of my new Ford Maverick that I ordered in Bozeman Montana at 22450 hey. I thank God for Toyotas resale and for Ford's innovation. I ordered my new Maverick with the hundred 110 volt Outlet on the inside. Didn't have a place to store my extension cord on the Toyota anyway without the compartment coming open. Also noticed the Maverick has much deeper under seat storage then my taco does. Don't get me wrong my PreRunner is a badass truck that gets about 26 miles to the gallon no matter how you drive it. Enough said
You’re either really strong or that’s a $60 sheet of 3/8” plywood? Bigger bed would also be an innovative solution. Like a $23k Ford Ranger XLT ? 😢 10 Tie Downs, what are you moving a totem pole?
Don't know if anyone's monitoring... Pulling a 5th wheel Scamp 19'? The gross weight of the Scamp 19 is 3,500 pounds with a pin weight (how much weight sits in the bed of the pickup) of just 400 pounds. The trailer is approximately 2,000 pounds dry. With the lightweight Scamp, the trailer hitch bolts directly to the bed (although its common to add some metal underneath apparently) , unlike large heavy 5th wheels that hitch bolt to the frame of the truck. So bottom line, is anyone doing this? Why couldn't it be done? I did find the Honda Ridgeline has been used to tow the Bigfoot 5th wheel which is heavier than the Scamp. Thanks.
I would have like to see how you can tie down a long ladder in the bed. I have a 20’ extension ladder. The floor tie down at the back looks promising but will it be enough for a 10+ long item to secure it with the tailgate fully closed?
I'm thinking an over the roof ladder rack...homemade or bought, foldaway or removable....I would want to be sure the truck could still fit 4 x 8 sheets while this rig was in place. My hybrid wont get 40mpg while carrying that extra gear, but I bet it will get better than the big truck that I want to keep but don't want to put gas in every week!
@@cowboy7ification no way I’d buy the Hybrid model, they offer a 4cyl ecoboost engine option that’s the same engine as in the Ranger. My Ranger is consistently over 22mpg in local driving.
The thing I immediately noticed about the plywood demo is there is nothing to support they plywood in the middle. Which might not be important for think plywood, but what about Sheetrock, paneling, etc? Seems to me they are still missing a feature and need to do more customer research and R&D.
This guy was funny. Couldn't get the tailgate adjusted and then dissed the target market with limited means comments. I especially liked when he said notice how the plywood slides right out. Yes right onto the highway when you drive away. Best to just keep that tailgate up please. Outlets are known as 120 v sir not 110 and 400 watts is about 3.3 amps not much plus I'm pretty sure you would have to have the truck running to get 120v ? This stuff works a lot better in an electric truck with their huge batteries but not too well for an ice vehicle.
I'm surprised they called this a Maverick. I would have thought they would only use that name if they came out with an updated version of the car of the same name. But, it's still kind of cool they brought back the name. My grandmother had one but I can't remember which engine it was. #memories
just which model or option package must I order to get what is shown here within the bed ? Is it simply a bed liner or more than one option, or on a package ?
It resembles the Ford explorer sport trac second generation, but with small engine of course. The Maverick has the same bed design but a bit wider but the same concept. It too has compartments in it left and right side of the bed and in the front of the bed. The Maverick only has one. An yes the Ford sport trac does have an outlet too. The Ford Maverick and the Ford sport trac are the same trucks.
I don't think he said "umm" enough times in the video...... Love the truck, think it's a great place for people who never had trucks....or like me, had a huge truck that I dont use ever near enough but I still need one occasionally.
I currently have an 01 f250 plow truck, a Jeep Wrangler as a toy. I was thinking of getting rid of my 01 f250 and getting a new f250 tremor. The maverick makes more sense as I dont need a full size all the time but when I do, there's no way around it. So I'll keep my 01 and wrangler and likely get a maverick in Awd for my new daily vehicle that'll get double the mileage at least of my f250 plus hopefully be a nice vehicle all around.
@@ExperiencesAndEquipment I wanted an AWD, but I have never had to use my 4wd in literally YEARS.......so the 40mpg fwd hybrid will be perfect and I'll spend a lot less on Gas thankfully.....I'd like the f150 lighting but that's out of my budget
@@orion9807 I wish the fwd was an option for me. Wisconsin winters and often going down fire roads to go camping, makes awd/4wd a necessity. My Jeep and F250 both have/had 33" mud tires. I figure 25 mpg year round is better than 10 or so in my f250 when winter comes and 40 when the weather isn't crap. Plus the f250 is definitely not a nice or classy ride being a 20 year old work truck, I literally have to jump in it because it's so freaking tall.
@@ExperiencesAndEquipment yeeaaahhh at that point you forsure need atleast an AWD......I just wish it wasn't so much extra......from a lariat fwd to a 2.0ecoboost with tow package and fx4 it's like $4850 extra i believe......I'll take fwd and get me a jeep to go off roading once in a while
Cant wait for Lincoln to make a nicer $40k one ( extra $5k would go a long way). I want a small truck but in my experience and test drive the material and component qualities are bad since its a cheaper Ford. Peoples cloth seats are already ripping, not enough sound insulation, needs a panoramic roof, ventilated seats, electric retractable tonneau, blue cruise, bigger screens, some more soft touch and metal accent materials for people who want a small truck like this but more lux than the lariat, more in line with the Santa Cruz.
It's a couple inches longer than the Santa Cruz's 54 inches vs. 52.1 on the Hyundai. A good video if you're looking for capacities and specs is over at TFLnow UA-cam channel - ua-cam.com/video/21m53LvzrzY/v-deo.html
I don't need any plywood but if I get this truck I'm buying a sheet just to test this out :) I think I would go for the Hybrid personally. I drive the baby Jeep now (Renegade) and I was just looking at the fuel costs here in Canada. If I average the price of gas at $1.28/L it would save me over $1315 in fuel each year based on my driving of 55%hwy 45% city. That's crazy good fuel economy and a much more useful vehicle for my lifestyle. Can't fit plywood in the Renegade :P
A storage space that opened up in the bed like the Santa Cruz would've been more useful to me than puuting plywood. That storage space also has a drain plug which is cool.
Plugin and light are in a dumb location, anything that's loose inside the bed can slide into and smash them. It would be much better if they were tucked up under the rail. I do like the little cubby for storing things.
@@Werewolf0216 interesting I own a 1999 Frontier and love the six foot bed. My bikes fit nicely. I guess the two door truck is like the manual truck… not happening. Thanks for your comment.
@@litespeedga yeah, I have a 2001 Ranger, 2 door standard cab and 6 foot bed...manual. I’ve been hanging onto it until finally a smaller truck is manufactured again. For me, the Maverick might work because only occasionally do I need to make use of the full 6 feet, and then the “flex bed” may get the job done. And I may find the extra seating useful. But the XL doesn’t have cruise control which I’d want for longer 3 to 6 hour trips across state…but I don’t like the XLT or Lariat interior color scheme. So guess I’ll wait to see if more options are offered eventually. With the unibody, the Maverick uses the same platform as the Bronco Sport and Escape, but a 2 door 6 foot bed would probably need a body on frame setup, splitting cab from bed, thus more costs to build when they were wanting to have this be an “affordable” truck.

I noticed they used construction grade plywood. What about MDF and cabinet grade 4x8 sheets which come 49"x97" it looked like it fit kind of tight hopefully there is enough room for 49"" wide sheets.
Ford? Would be great to get an answer
So how does Ford get around the “chicken tax”? The low cost indicates they have no 25% tariff. This truck is made in Mexico and imported.
NAFTA or whatever it's called now.
So, you don't need to add an additional bedliner (hard drop-in or spary-in) with the standard Flexbed? In other words, The Flexbed has all the cladding for the bed interior shown in this video?
No bed liner
Fords innovation……. Found on my 1993 Chevy truck bed…. Had slots for wood everywhere
Love the Ford blue coordinated gloves and shirt.
Careful with that sheet of plywood, that's $500.
Ford's ingenuity with these 2x4 slots also came on my Dodge Dakota back in 1997. The multi-level tailgate thing also came on my 2010 Chevy Colorado. None of this is innovative, but it's nice that they included it.
Ford make a Supercab version you can even keep the same wheelbase.
Could you also fix the Grill and Headlights they look out of balance.
I went to dealer to try to reserve they said theres a 5k mark up. This is future ford of Sacramento!! Ford need to do something about this.
It’s understandable that those that but they probably have never had a truck before
the standard wall stud is 2X4 8ft. the standard drywall is also 4ft X 8ft. a standard mattress or heck a sofa is longer than that bed.
I love it, it allows for many ideas.
Offer the hybrid drivetrain WITH AWD & I will sign up instantly!
Amen brother
Damn it. I just want a small truck I can ride my motorcycle up into and transport the damn thing easy without being so big it can't fit in my garage.
I bought a Maverick and I can't find a place to find all the dimensions of wood that I need for all the bed slots. Even my own manual doesn't have it. Can you provide it?
This would be great in Portland. They use lots of plywood.
What to do with 400w of power ? Put the same 7.2KW output. even sienna have 1500w.
Power tools
i like the fact that hes showing the wood warping inside the bed😂
Enough said
It’s was probably only 3/8 plywood
Don’t try that with 1/2 “ drywall.
Curious fellas and gals what would you do with the wood slots and create for the truck bed
You’re either really strong or that’s a $60 sheet of 3/8” plywood? Bigger bed would also be an innovative solution. Like a $23k Ford Ranger XLT ? 😢 10 Tie Downs, what are you moving a totem pole?
Did you not see the flex on that sheet?
@1:15: "oblong sheet of plywood". L M A O
Want a 2 door with a longer bed.
Thanks.
Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if it had an extended cab and 6 foot bed i would gladly sacrifice some rear seat space and buy it in an instant
What is the length of the bed till the end of the tailgate when it's down? I've noticed nobody is attempting to load a motorcycle on these.
Ive heard 6 feet in total with the gate down.
Be carful though… the tailgate is rated to only 300lbs. So I’m not sure how you’re gonna load anything over a dirt bike.
@@jonnyjl345k7 according to Forbes, its 400lb in the mid position, and 500lb when flat.
@@reptiliancow
Damn I just looked it up to be sure, you’re right. I saw another video that said 300, guess they lied 🤷♂️
@@jonnyjl345k7 ive seen a ton of speculation too. Never know who to trust these days 😆
#memories
When I met and married my first wife she drove a red Ford Maverick. 😮
Other than the Mustang I think Ford quit building cars
Is there a bed extender that can fit on this that will allow a 7 ft length dirtbike to be put in. If I can do that then I will buy it
how high is the tailgate from the ground when its fully open?
just which model or option package must I order to get what is shown here within the bed ? Is it simply a bed liner or more than one option, or on a package ?
All models have the bed liner. Only XLT/Lariat have the 110VAC and cubbies
The Ford Maverick and the Ford sport trac are the same trucks.
what about a center support for that sagging plywood?
I have the cheaper XL. Can I buy a similar cubby for the bed of my truck?
Why isn't cruise control standard equipment?
I don't think he said "umm" enough times in the video......
Love the truck, think it's a great place for people who never had trucks....or like me, had a huge truck that I dont use ever near enough but I still need one occasionally.
Great little weekend warrior.
@@ExperiencesAndEquipment yeeaaahhh at that point you forsure need atleast an AWD......I just wish it wasn't so much extra......from a lariat fwd to a 2.0ecoboost with tow package and fx4 it's like $4850 extra i believe......I'll take fwd and get me a jeep to go off roading once in a while
I really like this truck but as a big guy I feel like if I had it I would end up wishing I had a full size truck
So how late long is the bed? Did I miss it?
Didn't miss it but apparently 4.5 feet long.
It's a couple inches longer than the Santa Cruz's 54 inches vs. 52.1 on the Hyundai. A good video if you're looking for capacities and specs is over at TFLnow UA-cam channel - ua-cam.com/video/21m53LvzrzY/v-deo.html
Consider a rehearsal ?
I don't need any plywood but if I get this truck I'm buying a sheet just to test this out :) I think I would go for the Hybrid personally. I drive the baby Jeep now (Renegade) and I was just looking at the fuel costs here in Canada. If I average the price of gas at $1.28/L it would save me over $1315 in fuel each year based on my driving of 55%hwy 45% city. That's crazy good fuel economy and a much more useful vehicle for my lifestyle. Can't fit plywood in the Renegade :P
This is like a National Geographic episode in which the narrator attempts to figure out what a normal person uses a truck for.
Look you can put a piece of wood across hear just like on any truck. Oh ya we also added a cubby right here in the same spot as Toyota trucks.
Is that the bedliner or factory sprayed bed?
Can we load a warehouse skid on this truck's bed
How tall is Mr. Zack Nakos? Trying to see relative to the height of the Maverick.
Does this have a blind-spot monitoring? My wife needs it when driving a truck.
Yes. Standard. And auto braking. The rest of the Auto pilot type features come in the higher trim models
That's an FX4 package, I'm hoping the bed height will be substantially lower on the base 2wd hybrid.
.3," between the packages so 8.6 vs 8.9
Will a Yakima Overhaul HD fit in the bed?
Great video! 👍
A storage space that opened up in the bed like the Santa Cruz would've been more useful to me than puuting plywood. That storage space also has a drain plug which is cool.
There is storage beneath the rear seats, maybe not as big as the Santa Cruz's but I bet it works just as well
There’s the cubby’s. Perfect for jumper cables and ratchet straps.
I wish the Maverick and Ranger tailgates and the work surface and clamp holes, like the f150
Why do i have to get the lariat with top package to get sirius xm
Can it fit a full sized dirt bike?
What trim gets the sliding cleats in the bed?
Can someone send me a link for the “Ford Board” 2x4
Is it better to get the bedliner from the dealership for 500$? or is it better or cheaper to get the same type of bedliner after getting truck?
Getting it done on your own tends to be about $350 to $450, plus being without your vehicle for a day at the minimum.
Better price as an option from the manufacturer or dealer. Getting a spray in liner after market is expensive in comparison...could be twice as much.
Plugin and light are in a dumb location, anything that's loose inside the bed can slide into and smash them. It would be much better if they were tucked up under the rail. I do like the little cubby for storing things.
Make a two door with a six foot bed and I’m sold.
Not structurally and economically feasible with a unibody
@@Werewolf0216 I think the Maverick will be a success for Ford, plus the electric f150 looks awesome! Not a big fan of the Am car companies…I ‘M old enough to remember all the garbage they produced in Late 70s and up, but have to say I would think about buying a Ford. I remember reading an article years ago that the CEO of Ford had employees rent Japanese cars and talk about what they liked. We will see.
@@Werewolf0216 Completely false. It would be cheaper. See 1980's VW pickups, Subaru Brat, Dodge Rampage for examples.
