Picking my Mt up on Monday, there selling like hotcakes here in Australia. Ordered mine 8 days after going on sale and the dealer had orders for over 30 off them . Not bad for a small town .
@@TheSar Did you get the high fender or low fender version? I'm interested in the 450MT but here in Malaysia there aren't many offroad trails so I'd rather have it for touring.
@@runeluqman I've got the standard low fender. Works well for both on and off road. You do get a bit of mud spray on the radiator so a fender extender could certainly help.
I bought a CFMoto 450MT about 3 weeks ago in Australia for a capable off-road ADV. It has been absolutley fantastic. Make my 1050XT V-Strom feel like the Titanic!
I came across 4 guys out in the country the other day riding some back dirt roads, (I've got a Transalp and am in Australia) , 2 of them had Tuaregs and 2 of then had 450MT's. Very positive reviews of the MT's and no trouble keeping up with the Tuareg's anywhere.
I AM actually considering the CFMoto 450 MT (Ibex) here in the states. Been looking for something with adjustable suspension, tubeless tires, TFT, moderate seat height, moderate weight and a parallel twin for years and I have seen that many others have been looking for that as well. But, unfortunately, the main manufacturers continue to build bigger and heavier bikes, neglecting this segment. I don't need a 70+ BHP motorbike for touring and off road riding. 450-500cc is just right for me; I don't feel the need to get a higher displacement bike. As the saying goes, "I'd rather ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow". CFMoto is the first manufacturer to build the exact bike that I have been looking for. Am I disappointed that its a Chinese manufacturer, I'd say yes, but everything I've seen from CFMoto recently is better quality and has a good price point (I'm sure their pricing will go up after wider adoption). I am super close to putting the money down for the 450 MT as it checks all the boxes and looks good to boot. I know its a first year build, and its Chinese, but I will happily be a guinea pig on that bike, and I may pay for it in time, stress and money. That is a price I'm willing to pay to make the main Japanese manufacturers realize that they are completely ignoring this segment of the ADV world and they will lose money because of it. Great review btw, as usual!
You may not pay the price. They have a killer warranty. I have a 5 year warranty on my side by side and they literally ask 0 questions. If something breaks you drop it off and they fix it. Oil pump failed on mine. Wiped the bearings. Locked up at 40 mph. I called the next morning, they said bring it by. 3 weeks later they called back and said they replaced the engine and the starter because it got weak from me trying to start the engine whilst being locked up. Cost me $0. Didn’t ask how I was riding it or anything. Never tried to place fault on me. I’ll take that all day long
The 450 twin really really literally sounds great. If only the other brands offeted twins like that. The Honda 500x Id consider..Reliability is of the upmost importantance to me.
My thoughts too. BUT find out the price to do the service maintanrce for valve checks & resets, On Kawasaki Versa 350 X they charge $1500+ for this dealership work. SCREW THAT BS, - a good out the door price for the bike is about $ 4500 - $ 5500. Passed on that “Jap” bike…So check on this CFMoto 450 Adv model FIRST !!!
I tried the 450MT and I have to say that it's a bit slow, feels more like 30ish horsepower when you ride it. Never had the chance to spin it all the way or anything, but my general impression was that it's quite a bit slower than 450nk or 450ss. Maybe that was a conscious decision seeing how it's more of an off-road bike
When I went out to buy a new motorcycle I ended up buying a KTM 890 2022 for 2 reasons: it was a clearance because the 2023 model was coming in and I got an amazing price for the money I paid. As you said, a lot of bike for my buck. When I was considering buying the motorcycle, one of the first tests I did was with the 800 Mt or ibex 800. Loved the value for money. Unfortunately I decided to not go ahead with the CFMoto because it was a bit raw and unrefined. 1.5 years later, CFMoto launched 2 new ibex 800 versions, worked on the quality and refinement and added new features like android auto and car play... In my opinion it should at least qualify for a test ride to ensure that this is something that you do not want. I think CFMoto is going to give hell to all manufacturers due to their pricing point, options and incoming quality. Long story short: yes, I would consider buying a CFMoto. For the 5 year warranty offered in Romania and the price I pay, I would take one, use it like crazy for 5 years and they just send it to the recycling bin and get a new one.
CFMOTO released an updated 2024 800NK with traction control, updated abs, IMU sensors and antiwheelie. It's been out in China since around April, just waiting for it to be launched in other parts of the world.
I did buy one. I picked up a 2022 650 adventura new in October for $4500 out the door. It has far exceeded my expectations so far. I have only put 1200 miles on it so far..
Great job Ian. I was considering CFMoto up here in Eastern Canada. (They've been around here for years in the ATV market) However, in recent years, the prices have crept up. I looked at the Ibex 800 touring but it was almost a $1000 more than the bike I went with. The vstrom 800de. And congrats on 250k subs 🍻
To answer the question - it's a little frustrating there aren't many or great choices for small Adv bikes. CF Moto's 450MT is almost like a unicorn in terms of the segment it's in. As far as a small twin goes it's the Honda 500x for about your only other choice? - but you have to put a shit ton of extra money into it to make it truly off road worthy (spoked wheels, better suspension, protection etc). If the MT has all that I would have to consider it (just l considered the Himalayan bought it and I love it so far although it needs just a little more power and perhaps another gear). I just added a RE Himalayan 411 to my quiver and it's great along with some of the other small single ADV bikes (KTM 390 etc). I'm changing out my big ADV bikes for smaller bikes because small is more fun off-road - just like mentioned riding a slow bike fast really is more fun - we don't need 150hp and 20+ k motorcycles to have fun IMO. The downside of the singles are on road so it would be so nice to have a parallel twin like the 450 MT. (I consider a parallel twin a different segment than a one cylinder thumper even if the displacement is roughly the same just my 2 cents) 36:03
@@ianmoone6562 Yes I don't disagree with you, I'll always have a big bike as well for long distance road touring. I'm searching for the right BDR bike for when you're 90% off road and you're too old to lift a 600lb (or more loaded) bike more than once a day! I currently still have an AT and a KTM1190 (trying to decide which one to sell because I don't need both even though I love them both - on road!)
It depends a lot on what kind of off pavement stuff you want to do, but my 2022 Honda CB500x with a Rally Raid level 1 rear shock and their skidplate (plus SW Mototech crash guards, barkbusters, etc) gets the job done on pretty much any two lane dirt road as well as on less technical single tracks. I've banged the RR skidplate a bunch of times - it takes a beating! So, although ground clearance isn't great, if you pick good lines and slow down in the nasty stuff it's very capable. At 440 lbs wet, it's not light but it carries its weight pretty low so it's pretty easy to pick up too. I really love the CB500X as an all-rounder, but unfortunately as a tall rider it's a little cramped so it won't be my forever bike. If you are 6' tall or less, weigh less than 200 lbs, then it's a fantastic bike. Don't knock it until you try one!
I would say spot on review. I purchased a 800nk Advanced (std QS, steering damper, and larger 8" TFT) model in February and it just clocked 10k miles, cross shopping between the 8S, z900 and the duke 790. The CFmoto is certainly the best value for money with the standard features in the advanced model. It's also the most comfortable ergonomically and only second to the duke in fun to ride factor. Reliability and build quality is a mixed bag though, partly the fault of our local assembler/distributor. Test rode the 450MT "unicorn" recently as well and may consider picking that up later this year as well.
Great video, I agree with you about the issues on purchase price and resale values, here in the UK the prices are around the same as yours being 500/700 ish less for the cfmotos, but the yearly comprehensive insurance is way higher for the cfmoto, so that's lower purchase price is wiped out in 1 or 2 years, add the resale value which is terrible for preowned Chinese bikes with no warranty, and it's just not worth u buying one over a Japanese bike or similar established brand
This is the most significant review on your channel! Respect. The CFMOTO brand are innovators and have already begun to unfluence on a global scale. Your review was outstanding most notably, due to its raw honesty and non-bias style. I'm proud of such content creators such as yourself to bring light on this wonderful company albeit, it's taken you awhile😊...please continue to give them their dues where relevant. I believe they're going to be a powerhouse - it's simple, people want value for their money. Btw, I am on my third CFMOTO bike !
I don't comment videos so often. But : - First of all, superb work of giving an objective point of view on exotic bikes from china - I live in france, I tried those 2 bikes, we have an "advanced" version of the 800NK, with shifter, steering dampener, multimedia dash (carplay), keyless startup (but you need the key to open the fuel tank "duh") and a revised handlebar - On the 800NK, the rain mode is about 50hp (by not opening the throttle all the way), the street has all power, the sport have all power + hard throttle response - I tried the 450NK and got the exact same feeling. Wonderfull motor, smooth, powerfull enough, really enjoyable (same hahaha, when accelerating). But suspensions are... well. verry hard/bouncy. But the sound is WOW for a small bike. - The 450NK is 45hp in europe, and the 800NK is 95hp (due to EU regulations on driving licences) - Finally, Big thumbs up for this amazing work. BTW, I don't knwo if you have the IBEX 800/800MT Explore edition, but you should definitely try this updated version. also, I have talked to Honda/Suzuki representatives, they don't seem to understand that CFMOTO is really performing here in france.
I have a CLX 700 sport that I bought last year brand new OTD for $5,999. It's a great bike and I really enjoy riding it. The styling is really nice too. It gets a lot of attention at bike nights in NYC!
I bought the Ibex 800T. Which you didn't like. New software fixed the fueling issue. You need to revist that bike. If the new 450 was here I would have bought one.
I would not purchase a CFMoto bike at this time, mostly due to resale value (until they develop a reputation for long-term reliability, I believe their resale value will suffer). Thanks for the review! BTW, I love the sound of a 90-degree V-twin (which is what a 270-degree parallel twin is made to mimic). My Honda RC-51 is the sweetest sounding motorcycle I've ever owned (90-degree V-twin rumble with a touch of gear whine from the gear driven cams)...
I'd ABSOLUTELY buy one. I finally got to sit on the Ibex 800 and the discontinued Adventura 650. The quality was very impressive. Nothing at all cheap feeling about them. And the features and warranty you get for the money can't be beat. I'm definitely getting the Ibex 450 as soon as i can! 🏍️💨
Bought a CFMoto 300nk just over a year ago. First bike, it's great. Only issue I had wasn't the bike, it was that the dealership I bought it from went out of business. Now nearest dealer is 90 miles away, but just found a local shop that is will to service it, which will come in handy when the warranty is up next year. I loved the rider app, and saw there's a "new" one today for the US market. For a 4200 MSRP bike, got so many features which is nice. If local dealer was still around would strongly to looking at 650nk, but now starting to think about a Z650.
Great job as always. Thank you. Been riding since the 1980s, and all I have to say is... CFMOTO rules! Glad they will now be in place for my young daughter and her generation to enjoy. Change is both good and inevitable. Happy trails.
I was really considering a CFMoto, but two of my friends have had their CF’s in the shop for over 5 months now. (One needing an engine swap) Just a bad taste, I’m gonna pass.
Good review as usual. I have been looking at the 800MT Explorer, I think what you call Ibex explorer in the US. So I was interested to watch this, even though not adventure bikes. It comes across how different setups and warranty can be in different countries. Only 2 years warranty, here in Mexico, it is only 1 year warranty, but if I understand it correctly, it is unlimed km. The bikes you have tested have 3 years warranty in Sweden, however if you go for any of the 700 or 800 adventure bikes from 2024 model, you get a whole whooping 5 years of warranty. Not bad. But then, the explorer model in many countries include panniers, in Sweden you have to pay extra for them. Keep up the good work. Cheers from Swede in Mexico
I sat on an IBEX model in Yuba City or Marysville, CA last week. At a quad and jet ski dealership that now sells motorcycles. Love your stuff. Keep it up.
Its an extremly hot topic in Russia, since we are sanctioned and chinese cars are all over us. I never, like never though i would buy a chinese car myself, I had mostly german ones (last one was Audi a5 coupe 2.0 turbo. After half a year time trying to find a good replacement we finally start to look at chinese cars, and they are not that impressive. But some one suggested me to try Geely Monjaro. We come to a dealer for a test ride and while waiting for manager my wife just sits inside the car for a bit. She comes out and sais - its a good car, you woldnt believe it. I am like - wait, what? I sit inside and its a good car. Like really a decent car, again, I had 6 y/o kinda sporty german coupe before that, i have some standarts. So we take it for a ride and she rides like a good european car, like a volvo i would say. In a week we just buy one. 15k km already, rode across country, its a good car i cant really critisize. One thing that is really luckluster is a climate control - no idea why it is tuned so badly, otherwise its just a great car and i would suggest anyone to try it out. So this is the answer - people who think chinese cars or motos are trash have probably no relevant expereinece. In 10 years we will all consider them a 100 percent valid option.
People are Hippocrates they won’t buy a Chinese bike but will buy anything else from China. Hell the bike they ride has parts from China. It’s all political. Either don’t buy anything Chinese or be quiet. Cf moto has been in the US for years with their atv and side by sides. They aren’t going anywhere. In fact they are opening a factory in Mexico. You know the same place Honda makes the xr150 etc. but people won’t say anything because it says Honda on it
Absolutely would. I like the 650 Adventura. It comes with lockable, removable hard bags and last year's floor models are being moved out for $3999??? Of course, they are playing the dealer mark up game (around $1500), but that still comes out to $5500 for a new bike with. 2 year warranty. A Versys runs $10000
Just bought the adventura for $3400. It gets hot between the legs but no worse than a Harley imo. It’s a commuter bike for me so it does that job well. It isn’t earth shattering but for the price it’s a great bike
Weight, wind protection, crisp brakes, nope. But of only today the dual sport 150-450s had twins it would be a different world. My old cl175 could cruise at 70mph, make 80mph hit 10000rpm but stop on a dime. My honda cx500 another twin could cruise at 80mph -with a Vetter fairing/stereo and load of luggage. Twins = power. Gosh great road tests Ian.
It will be interesting to see how the CFMoto bikes fair in the marketplace. We are starting to see an onslaught of Chinese bikes and so far KOVE and CFMoto seem to stand out. I checked out the IBEX 800 at a local dealer and it was pretty decent looking and felt normal sitting on it. But... I'm not sure I'd be interested in buying one. I do believe they will push the Japanese to start offering more features on their bikes, CC, tubeless wheels, etc that are coming standard on the CFMotos. IMO the Japanese have been very slow to add features people want and aren't that hard to add and from my personal buying I bought a Tuareg over a T7 primarily due to the feature set of the Tuareg and I don't regret my purchase decision one bit. But I am not their core target buyer so ??? I think you're right about the 270 cranks vs the old school 180 cranks, nobody likes 180 crank engines and some of the Japanese engines seem cast in cement on that and I don't get why, it's not hard to change but may require a new EPA cert which might be the core reason they haven't changed. I'll be looking forward to your IBEX 450 & IBEX 800 reviews.
I’m impressed with the reviews for their honest opinions expressed. Having said that ,I am not currently in the market for a new machine. I have a 2019 BMWF750GS and am totally satisfied with its performance and capabilities. At 34,000 miles it’s stone reliable. Thanks for your continuing testing of new bikes.
The warranty looks good on paper but unfortunately most dealerships not only don’t know how to work on them but act like they won’t honor it. I’ve heard some bad stuff from other owners who say CFMoto doesn’t honor their warranties
CFMOTO owner here, never had an issue getting services at my dealership, and thats compared to my Kawasaki dealer, who wouldn't let me test ride the bike, and then pretended I didn't exist once I was out the door. I'm not sure why anyone would have an issue working on these bikes, full diagrams and maintenance manuals are available online for free from CFMoto. I was able to demo the CFMOTO, And I can say with 100% certainty that my CFMoto dealership has been more responsive and available, then my Kawasaki dealership by a long shot. Took two weeks to get services done on my Kawasaki, CFMoto had my bike done in the same afternoon I dropped it off.
I bought a monht ago a Kawa Z900rs. The reason was pure desing, i just fell in love with it. That for me the biggest selling point of motorcycle buy. I am also an owner of Honda Africa Twin, also bike with amasing design. At least for me. Anyway great video as always.
Really waiting for your review on the new Honda NX Twin Adventure motorcycle to compare with the new RE 450 Himalayan , new KTM 390 Adventure bike, etc. BUT PLEASE CHECK dealer prices for routine maintenances such as vale checks/adjustments, oil change, etc. Very important for beginner- returning riders with little mechanical abilities. Always great review protocols here at Big Rock Moto, Ian !
Yeah I certainly would, if there was more than ONE dealer in my entire state, 3 hours away from me. But oddly plenty of side-by-side dealers who didn't carry the bikes.
Great video. CFMOTO all day long. I've had two, each for over two years. Excellent fit and finish, great handling and brakes. My CLX SPORT 700 even had cruise control. I bought right and saved about 25 percent on each bike over their Japanese competitors. I've had many bikes and have had all the Japanese brands along with Ducati. The Chinese bikes are better if price and warranty are important to you. Truth is, China is entering the market, and knowing how they are working with the Japanese brands, buying from China is a better and better deal. Look for prices to climb over time. Enjoy the market while these conditions are available. Keep making awesome informative videos.
I'm planning to ride from north America to the far south of south America. I was looking hard at the Tuareg 660, but for the cost difference and the unreliability of the Tuareg, I'm thinking about the CFMoto Ibex 450. With the savings on cost and a better dealer network throughout the Americas, I'm excited about this bike. My only concern is about power (lack thereof) at between 8-10k ft of altitude with luggage I typically ride. I am signed up for demo in Colorado near the end of July. CFMoto is partnered with both KTM and Yamaha, so they are used to producing a quality product.
Just put a deposit down on the CFMoto 450MT [Ibex] and expecting to have the bike by the end of next week. I have several CFMoto motorcycle dealers not that far from home in Sydney (Australia) and CFMoto already has an OK dealer network generally when it comes to the farming related equipment space but not all of these currently have motorcycle capability. It may just be a matter of time that a number of these exiting outlets incorporate motorcycle sale/servicing as a part of or extension of the existing business. I was looking for a smaller adventure bike and the price of the 450MT and feedback from new owners and reviewers is and has been fantastic. The biggest gripes from folks seem to be delays in availably of genuine accessories and no cruise control and a twitchy throttle - apparently, well I heard but have not verified, CFMoto has released a software update in NZ to address this.
Yes I would an actually I am looking at the 800 NK. I have a CF Moto U Force and love it. I have a good dealer and the build quality on the NK is top of the line. I have had Hondas , Kawasaki and Harley. So I feel as if I have a good grasp on what I want and can get for the dollars I am spending
I've spent 7,800 miles on my 2022 CFMOTO CL-X 700 Heritage; about 1/3 in the dirt, and about a third of that riding from Florida to Kansas and back. I camp off it, I've added a skid plate, crash bars, and cargo rack. It has been completely bulletproof. Every single option has also been bulletproof. I used the cruise control on my road trip to Kansas and back, and I use the eco ride mode when riding off road. Bang for the buck they are the best there is, the warranty is also double what everyone else offers... I'm sold, they got a buyer for life in me. The fact my mechanic sold me a bike, is the icing on top. (Non traditional dealership structure, there was no markup)
@@metalsadman it does not have the 270 crank, but the HOWL when opening the throttle in 'sport' mode is WONDERFUL, and I love the looks of the intakes on the tank sides.
4 year warranty in the UK, plus 8 years breakdown/recovery plan if service kept up to date at a CFMOTO dealer. Bought the 450NK back in March, after a 40 year break from motorcycling. Absolutely love it, once I'd taken all the free play out of the throttle.
I'm just 600 miles into my new CFMoto 300NK, but from my early experience, it's one of the best bikes I've ever owned, build quality-wise, (and I've owned 74 of them, from most manufacturers). It just feels tight, solid, smooth, and refined. Time will tell if that lasts as the miles roll on, but a VERY impressive early effort from a brand hungry to dominate the US market. I test-rode the 450NK and was blown away by the 50hp parallel twin, and immediatly put down a deposit on an Ibex 450 (450MT).
Ive owned cfmoto both atv and now an ibex motorcycle. They are good brand. I definitely consider them. They give you a lot for the price and ive not had any problems with them yet. They got great styling, maybe lack some refinement but they get better every year.
If you debadged either of these bikes or stuck, say a Suzuki or Kawasaki badge on them at that price point, people would snap them up. There are only 2 reasons not to buy one. 1. Relatively untested reliability and poor dealer network. But are either worse than, say KTM? (They use KTM derived engines) 2. You don't want to buy Chinese. Which is valid because I have concerns about China's labor, human rights, politics etc. But a lot of what we buy is made in China, so is this any different?
The reason why I (so far) have bought japanese, is because the reliability ive personally have had with them. Itll take a while for the Chinese to build up to that.
Yes based on CFMoto's excellent 4 wheeler ATV's (I know about 12 people that own them) and they made KTM motors for years. I think KTM partly owns them now. The 800 looks cool, crisp, and very snug and well put together. The dash, colors and front look with the lights. My Honda Transalp has a good functioning quick shifter, my 1st but I prefer using the clutch.
The 450 MT (the Adventure model) is selling like hot cakes in Australia. Rode one yesterday straight after test riding a Tenere. Pound for pound it is a far better bike end of story. The engine is 4 years old and well proven. Time will tell regarding reliability of the whole package but the reviews are very positive.
I went into a dealership with the intention of buying a '24 GSX-S1000. Rode out with a 800NK for $5k USD + tax/tags vs $9.9k for the suzuki + tax/tags. The price for the Suzuki had a pretty good discount but compared to the CFMOTO, was that really 100% more bike? Nope. I didn't need 150HP and don't really need 100 HP either. I bought it to thrash around and not worry about it. At that price point it's a hell of a value and not really even worried about resale....the most I can lose is $5k lol.
I just purchased the 450MT here in Australia, and so far it’s very impressive especially what you get for the price. It’s got good build quality and I think people need to change their stigma regarding Chinese products, because most stuff we own is from there. And with KTM having a joint venture with them could only mean they’re doing something right 👍🏻
My daughter in law is riding a cf moto 450 sr s. It‘s a great bike. Build quality is awsome. Imo great bang for the Buck. I would definitly consider a cf moto. 800 nk sounds great, or the 700 cl x.
I have owned a 650MT (650 ibex or something called in US) and it was good, no problems with the bike. Sold it because after a few long trips I felt that I'm bit tall for the bike. Now I'm waiting to test the 450MT.
The engine is not what worries me cuz usually its a carbon copy of a major brand that is reliable, but the rest... type of screws, quality of metal, electronics, rubber , vym8l, brake lines etc etc
@@aussiesam01 the cam issue was resolved AWHILE ago, there are whole new top ends, internal components, even the bikes that were affected are using the new parts.
Cf moto didn’t seem to have the cam issue. They make their bikes with less horsepower. Honestly I think ktm should let cf moto make the adventure bikes up to 890 and ktm make the larger displacement ones. They are the same bike competing with one another
I would not consider a cfmoto bike. I’ve been riding Japanese bikes for decades, mostly Honda, I’ve never been left stranded by any of them. So why would I switch brands ? Isn’t it cfmoto that built the engines for the KTM models with major mechanical problems ?
You know what’s strange about that though, the motors CFMoto is building for ktm have cam problems, but the CFMoto model using the same engine doesn’t have the cam problem 🤔
Can’t sell them quick enough in the UK.. Demand for the new 450 MT is out stripping supply..We all know the 800 NK is basically a 790 KTM with slightly different mapping and a lot more tech for a lot less money (UK) My only gripe after riding a few of these bikes is the fuelling can be a little iffy at times..👍ATB
I think the newer generation of riders will like this motorcycle that comes with a TFT dash and Cruise control and all the bells that would come with a Goldwing
Great review as always your Chanel is very good.the replacement for my 4 year old Honda cb500x is probably going to be cf moto 700 mt but will look at the 450 and the 800 I do limited of road light gravel which is unavoidable in Australia a road only bike would be no good over here in my opinion. When my Honda moves about on gravel it’s ok standing but on the road bike it would be scary. I like wind protection away.
I wouldn't mind buying one due to the price. But I love my Japanese bikes. I've never had any problem with Honda's, Yamaha's, and now Kawaski. Maybe 5 or so years down the road but as of now, I'll have to pass.
Hello Ian. Great review. To answer your question - no, I wouldn't consider the CFMoto. Not for reasons to do with quality, price etc, but purely political. I boycott as many products as I can from communists and other types of dictatorships. I can't filter them all out, but this one I can. Still, interesting to know how they are doing, so thanks for the review
450MT definitely on my short list for next bike...these two compare very well to the competition and look good doing it...if CFMoto sells well here, other manufacturers will hopefully respond with products in kind.
I have a CFMoto SxS (my beloved doesn’t do two wheels but likes some adventure) and it works flawlessly. In fact, one mountain climb had Polaris rigs overheating and mine stayed as cool as a cucumber 🙂
I feel like I would rather get the Kawasaki z500 ABS and the Suzuki GSX-8S over either of these. Both are incredible value for what you're getting and you can actually resell them for a decent price. I was shocked when I saw all the equipment on the Suzuki GSX-8S and how nice it was in person at the price it was being sold at. I almost bought one until I found an ADV I preferred. I am not in any way saying these are bad bikes. I think they look fantastic. It's just those two I mentioned stood out to me. I had a z400 and I regret ever selling the thing. It was very reliable and fun to ride.
To answer your question: I'm looking at picking up a new bike next year and the Ibex 800 T was on my list. Stats seem good and initial reports were good as well (including yours). But recently, I'm seeing reports of issues with the bikes and CFMotos's failure to or inability to supply parts and address issues with the lack of customer service. I'm looking for a tough bike for long distance riding and while the Ibex looks good and is loaded with features, what's going to happen if the bike breaks in the middle of Wyoming, five days into a ten day ride? Will CFMoto be able to get parts to me quickly? Current, based on what I'm reading, the answer is no. With that, I've dropped the company from consideration. Maybe a brand to reconsider in the future.
I've got a 2023 CFMoto ATV. Good machine some quality issues up one delivery with brake clips. Plastics seem brittle and the replacements had new part numbers. Good machine for the money
I'm sure given the price point there will be a fair amount of adoption. Now the question of reliability is yet to be seen, and the resale market is completely unknown. I'll stick to other brands for the foreseeable future.
Look at the price for a ktm 790 adventure and a cf moto 800. At least $1000 difference. And they are essentially the same bike except one says Ktm. I just purchased a 650 adventura for $3400. If it turns out to be a pos I’ll be the first to admit it. But I think for a commuter it will be perfect
I watched this video on my Chinese made Apple phone while wearing my Brooks Brothers Irish linen shirt that was made in China. I have zero concerns. If they prove durable, I’ll own one.
Who gives a crap about politics, I only have so many riding seasons left. I’ll buy whatever I like and leave it to the politicians to change the world (ha!)
I do care about politics. I'm from the Philippines and China has been bullying us in our waters for years. I made a conscious decision to not buy China OWNED products past a certain price point. (I know that I have no way around made in China products though) I just can't stand a chunk of my money will go to a firm that is based in China and is under the whims of their government. A government that is actively hostile towards my country. I'm not saying that I'm right and you're wrong. This is totally personal preference and circumstance.

Love this review! Do you think the 450NK is too much for a beginner bike and better to spend a year on a 300NK or C300r? Love your content and keep up the great work!
I have a 450MT and absolutely Love it, Under $10,000 On Road here in AU. It has to be the Best ADV i have Ridden, Light & very Flickable and lots of Torque !!
I test rode the 450MT (only on road), quality felt fine, the engine was smooth, very good until 110km/h, the acceleration was not thrilling, but since I need (want) something to travel on highways, I choose not to buy one. However there are only 2 available bikes in august, rest are already sold.
Love this review Ian, great work as always! For the love of god tho, please let those engines warm up before redlining them XD To answer your question: simply no, why would anyone chose the 800 if the GSX-8S exists? The 450 feels right tho, let's see if they have the same KTM quality...
As of now, I would buy a Japanese bike. The price difference does not warrant the reliability risk associated with using something relatively new over companies that have proven their commitment to quality. As more people buy these and the years of use they too may establish that reputation, just as you alluded to with Hyundai and the stages of growth.
I was going to say they're too expensive for being Chinese, but the lack of traction control is a huge plus for me. I don't really need a second bike, but if I did I'd look at the Ibex.
I am actually considering to buy cfmoto. Im choosing between 800nk and kawasaki z650 - similar price but cfmoto has better specs. This 450 is also cool but its currently not avaible in my country. Im currently riding keeway rkf 125 and replacing parts is super cheap so im not bother to buy another chinese bike :D
Ian they are well priced and well specked compared to say Kawasaki who do not release new models, only slightly upgrade their current line. So yeh, I'll give them a go.
Just a reminder regarding engine performance…for example, an Aprilia Tuareg produces less than 30hp at 4,000 rpm. Therefore, it’s generally not necessary to be concerned about a “high horsepower” moto
Laughter is the best medicine. That says it all!!…. Thank U again for the very informative content… As always enjoy Life to the fullest, be safe out there.. Blessings to you and your family..
The clx 700 has had a decent amount of growing pa8ns with tech issues and part supply issues. I think in the next few years they will iron all those out, so I am optimistic.
Question for you: would you buy a CFMOTO over the more established Japanese and European brands? Why or why not?

Still waiting for a super Tenere review 😢
yes i would. the 800nk advanced looks like a solid package.
The Z400 is about a 5199.00 Why would I pay more for a Chinese bike when I can get a Japanese for less money? Kawasaki reliability.
Never. China is a Communist dictatorship
If cfmoto had the e exact bike that I was looking for, I would probably buy it
Dude, hundreds of people (including me) wait for your review to pull the trigger on the 450mt. Thats my answer to your question.
Picking my Mt up on Monday, there selling like hotcakes here in Australia.
Ordered mine 8 days after going on sale and the dealer had orders for over 30 off them .
Not bad for a small town .
it is more like thousands
Got my 450MT about 3 weeks ago in Australia.
Just get one - you won't be sorry. Great little thing.
Great review btw, as usual!
thanks for sharing
Not buying a CFMoto but your reviews are top notch! Best on UA-cam…
they are, hands down
I agree, also my favorite bike review channel😎
Bike: "I'm out of fuel!" Ian: Proceeds with max throttle going in opposite direction of any fuel station, ha.
Just bought a 2023 for the same price. It will be my commuter bike and it’s serving the purpose well.
No, I would not consider buying a CF Moto.
I would buy another Honda 😁👍
I’m 100% thinking about it but honestly? Waiting for your review on the CF Moto 450MT
(I consider a parallel twin a different segment than a one cylinder thumper even if the displacement is roughly the same just my 2 cents) 36:03
the bike is fun but you guys will be pissed because of the top speed.. before you change the bike relation it's really not meant for long distances
You should have waited for the Himalayan 450, way better than the 411
It depends a lot on what kind of off pavement stuff you want to do, but my 2022 Honda CB500x with a Rally Raid level 1 rear shock and their skidplate (plus SW Mototech crash guards, barkbusters, etc) gets the job done on pretty much any two lane dirt road as well as on less technical single tracks.
@@alozborne I'm intrigued by the 500x also. How much are you into it adding the Rally Raid stuff though?
That laugh as soon as you started riding the 400 kinda sold me on this bike. I already did a test sit on one at the show room.
I don't comment videos so often. But :
- First of all, superb work of giving an objective point of view on exotic bikes from china
- I live in france, I tried those 2 bikes, we have an "advanced" version of the 800NK, with shifter, steering dampener, multimedia dash (carplay), keyless startup (but you need the key to open the fuel tank "duh") and a revised handlebar
- On the 800NK, the rain mode is about 50hp (by not opening the throttle all the way), the street has all power, the sport have all power + hard throttle response
- I tried the 450NK and got the exact same feeling. Wonderfull motor, smooth, powerfull enough, really enjoyable (same hahaha, when accelerating). But suspensions are... well. verry hard/bouncy. But the sound is WOW for a small bike.
- The 450NK is 45hp in europe, and the 800NK is 95hp (due to EU regulations on driving licences)
- Finally, Big thumbs up for this amazing work.
BTW, I don't knwo if you have the IBEX 800/800MT Explore edition, but you should definitely try this updated version.
also, I have talked to Honda/Suzuki representatives, they don't seem to understand that CFMOTO is really performing here in france.
Bought a CFMOTO IBEX 800T spring 2023 and love it! Just put 50/50 tires on it and ready for more off pavement adventures.
Your review is encouraging. Yes, I will consider the 450MT, depending on how close a service-providing dealer is in my area.
I was really considering a CFMoto, but two of my friends have had their CF’s in the shop for over 5 months now.
(One needing an engine swap)
Just a bad taste, I’m gonna pass.
That's too bad you're missing out..
Keep it up.
They also have a CFmoto dealer in Auburn and Sacramento. So dealer network shouldn’t hopefully be an issue
You know the same place Honda makes the xr150 etc. but people won’t say anything because it says Honda on it
Very good review, especially the comparison with the competition.
I fully agree, a Z500 with a 270° crankshaft engine would be incredible!
I'm excited to get my hands on the 450 MT for testing. Everyone is raving about the 450 motor. Seams like a lot of value with that bike.
I think it's fair to say that warranty and service may vary from dealer to dealer as they try to establish a favorable presence in this market.
Ian, light is RIGHT !!! The 450 is the Boss Value MC. Can’t wait for you to put the 450 “Adventure” model thru the paces !!!
(Non traditional dealership structure, there was no markup)
does the 700 engine have a 270 crank or is it the same as the kawasaki 650 twin?
@@metalsadman it does not have the 270 crank, but the HOWL when opening the throttle in 'sport' mode is WONDERFUL, and I love the looks of the intakes on the tank sides.
@@metalsadman It's similar to the Kawi 650 but its stroked to 693cc's vs the Kawi

Thanks for sharing!
Great opening statement and a message that actaully made me think.
BMW F900R was sorely missing in the comparison for the 800
Ive owned cfmoto both atv and now an ibex motorcycle.
(They use KTM derived engines)
Nice one Big Rock...Wait til you get the CF Moto 450 MT, its even better 🙂
Can't wait!
And with KTM having a joint venture with them could only mean they’re doing something right 👍🏻
Yes I would review the 450mt asap! Ty
The pirelli tires, brembo brakes, Bosch ignition, and fully adjustable KYB suspension have held up great after 2 years and almost 8k miles this far!
😉
Well if the engine is a copy of the ktm the cams may be a worry
@@aussiesam01 the cam issue was resolved AWHILE ago, there are whole new top ends, internal components, even the bikes that were affected are using the new parts.
Cf moto didn’t seem to have the cam issue. They make their bikes with less horsepower. Honestly I think ktm should let cf moto make the adventure bikes up to 890 and ktm make the larger displacement ones. They are the same bike competing with one another
Waiting for the CFmoto 450 MT / Ibex review. :)
I would not consider a cfmoto bike.
I’ve been riding Japanese bikes for decades, mostly Honda, I’ve never been left stranded by any of them. So why would I switch brands ?
Isn’t it cfmoto that built the engines for the KTM models with major mechanical problems ?
Cams delaminating from poor quality (metalurgy)
You know what’s strange about that though, the motors CFMoto is building for ktm have cam problems, but the CFMoto model using the same engine doesn’t have the cam problem 🤔
Because cf moto is smart and not pushing the engine as hard as ktm. They are about 10hp down.
@@slakk5093 Because that problem lasted only up to the 22 models.
High praise for cf moto coming from you Ian. I'll have to pay them more attention.
In the UK CFMOTO have the 2 year warranty and really good selling price. I'm 6ft with long legs, if I fit on one I'll have one to make my commute fun!
So we have had these bikes in the uk for a while now, tons of reviews and all fantastic!!
I have 4200 miles on my Ibex 800T. Gonna take it on the WA BDR this summer!
Way too expensive for being Chinese bikes. There’s no compelling savings that would threaten Japanese brands.
KTM and CFMOTO are owned by the same company.
Best reply yet ! I agree with you 100% !
You can't see the face of people that pay the price for your thriftyness....so why care?
okies
I do care about politics. I'm from the Philippines and China has been bullying us in our waters for years. I made a conscious decision to not buy China OWNED products past a certain price point. (I know that I have no way around made in China products though)
I just can't stand a chunk of my money will go to a firm that is based in China and is under the whims of their government. A government that is actively hostile towards my country.
I'm not saying that I'm right and you're wrong. This is totally personal preference and circumstance.

Not a supporter of Chinese imports but I appreciate the fair review.
Good for the market although I would not buy one yet
For the love of god tho, please let those engines warm up before redlining them XD
To answer your question: simply no, why would anyone chose the 800 if the GSX-8S exists? The 450 feels right tho, let's see if they have the same KTM quality...
As of now, I would buy a Japanese bike. The price difference does not warrant the reliability risk associated with using something relatively new over companies that have proven their commitment to quality. As more people buy these and the years of use they too may establish that reputation, just as you alluded to with Hyundai and the stages of growth.
The CFMoto 450MT was the most sold bike over 125cc in June in Portugal. For the price it has no competition.
If you are on a budget, just get a KLR650 that will go just about anywhere.
The 450MT is cheaper than the KLR, makes more power and is smoother. The MT is the last nail in the KLR's coffin. ( I have two KLR650 in my garage.)
@@XLV750RD01 A used KLR is pretty cheap though
@@XLV750RD01doubt it.
I was going to say they're too expensive for being Chinese, but the lack of traction control is a huge plus for me. I don't really need a second bike, but if I did I'd look at the Ibex.
Ideally I’d be interested in the 450MT, so I’ll be watching your review of it when it does make it here in the U.S.

EU here, 450MT is 6290 Euros. Got 3 dealers in around 50 to 300Kms. Selling my Tuono660 and giving it a try for that money.
Yes definitely considering, you hit it on the nail with more for your money
The clx 700 has had a decent amount of growing pa8ns with tech issues and part supply issues. I think in the next few years they will iron all those out, so I am optimistic.
