My Chinese scooter felt good...still fell apart on a regular basis. Unless your measuring tolerances, testing metal/welds metallurgy and doing endurance tests you cannot truly test the quality. Bought an ANCIENT 25 year old mint jap bike and it has been 6x more reliable.
Even if the CFMoto isn’t necessarily better than the MT09, it’s great that there’s more competition for the market. I’m excited that there’s more options for people to choose from.
Not exactly an answer to your question, BUT I had a Gen. 3 MT09 for over a year. Almost 2. In that short time I put over 17k miles on it before I traded it for my Tracer. The only maintenance I had to perform in that time was tires and oil changes. The bike ran flawlessly, starting right up every single time. I'd be curious to see how a CFMOTO would hold up being ridden daily like I rode my MT.
I had a CFMoto 650GT for two years and 32,000km. Repairs = zero Maintenance = normal servicing (cheap, basically just oil changes and adjustments). They are reliable!
Currently got a 2021 CFMOTO 650NK with 57,000km on it. I purchased it dealer used with 1200km on it. In the last 3 years, I have not had to do any repairs other than a snapped clutch cable. Only other expenses on it have been regular maintenance which is about $50 every 6000km. Couldn't be happier. The older CFMOTO's (pre-2019) definitely had a LOT of issues, but the new ones are really starting to get good
A couple of good words here for the reliability. Seeing as I just got on a fresh 2023 Kawasaki I won't be changing bikes for a while but will be watching to see how reliable CF Moto proves to be over the next five plus years.
890 R owner here. The LC8c eats itself after a bit. Do the oil change yourself on the NK and look at the flakes. Then when the valve cover starts to leak, look at the worn cams during the gasket change. I plan on getting the '24 MT-09 SP, new ergos should match the Duke much better now.
CF Moto ride day today at a few dealerships in Melb AU. Started off on a 450SS, then the 300SS, then the 650 NK, finally the 800 NK. Had my eye on the 450 and 300 appearance wise, 450 has plenty of performance, liked the low weight of the 300. Was not going to bother riding the 650 NK but did and enjoyed it. Both it and the 800 were comparatively easy to ride around roundabouts, my last road bike was a Z1 900B back in 1974 so a bit rusty! But the cruise control on the 800 NK was great and in a heavily policed country like Australia it frees you up to just ride and steer. Couldn’t see the TFT screen properly on the 600 with polarised sunglasses, no problem on the 800. So after today’s ride day I’d say cruise control is an essential fitting, the CF Moto one is simple and effective! Thanks to CF Moto East keilor for hosting the day!
I swear I must be the only person who loves the 22-23 cyclops eye on the MT09. I'm convinced that much like the over/under projectors on the Ducati 999, people will eventually come around to it.
Yeah, it’s kind of funny how preferences go. I’ve got a cbr650r which is an awesome “all around” bike. But nearly every review talks about getting a “tail tidy” to make it look better. I love the “dragon tail” on my bike. Wouldn’t change it if I could.
@@someoneelse1i1i tail tidy and euro turn signals are pretty much the only external mods I wanted to do on my street triple, the rest I love. I love the header set up on that 650R
Here in Malaysia, the 800NK Advance (QS bidirectional, tablet, dampener, smartkey) is 38,888. We only get the advanced version, the standard version isn't available here. The MT09 is around 54 thousand. China already has an updated 800NK with traction control, cornering abs, updated bosch abs system, antiwheelie. I'm waiting on the new updated version.
@@500ccRabbitI've been able to find like 5 in my area all are within 30 minutes away. Mind you those are also major dealers of other brands like Yamaha and so on. I'm in Massachusetts
I mean some respect to CFMoto for truly trying to enter this market. I can go to a local dealer and see these bikes, most China bikes are at like...sporadic, pop-up dealers that stop carrying them in 3 months. Wasn't looking at them at all a few years back, now...I wouldn't skip over a CFMoto if looking for a new bike.
Throughout 44 years of riding, I've owned all the Japanese brand motorbikes, large and small displacement. I bought a 2022 CFMOTO 700CLX in 2022. It's been a really great bike at a very nice price. I also purchased a Kayo K-4 250, and it too has been great. I'll be buying another "Chinese bike" for sure.
@mattsloop2736 Another great bike from CFMOTO. I test road one and was impressed. It was quicker than my 700CLX Sport but not as powerful. A very sweet bike all the same.
Agreed. I bought my 300NK when I was looking for a small-displacement bike last summer, and this was during the time when no one had any due to the ship that was hijacked or something in Egypt. I was looking for a Ninja 400, and got this 300NK and have really been so incredibly surprised at the most weightless bike I have ever experienced. I am truly looking into adding a CLX700 to the stable next, but man that '24 MT09 SP is other-worldly and really tempting my wallet.
Can't knock that the CF Moto appears to be a good bike. I hope this pushes the Japanese Big 4 to make theirs even better without losing the reliability they've had for decades.
Back in China, the 800NK Advanced+ at 6900 USD is already available with lots of upgrades such as 6 axis IMU, traction control, cornering abs, antiwheelie, steering damper, smart keys that can also be controlled from a phone app and an 8 inch tablet with apple car play enabled. The Yamaha MT-09 SP 2023 model (the latest model is not available in China yet) will set you back at 19K USD.
I am not really concerned with the fit and finish of the CFmoto bikes when compared at brand new to a Japanese bike. However, the thing I am most concerned about is where the two bikes will be at when they reach 20k, 30k, or 40k miles... The Japanese bikes I feel confident will keep running as long as you take good care of them, but CFmoto I am just not sure yet. Of course, this may not be an issue for most people cause many riders will never put that many miles on their bikes before selling them anyway. On the topic of selling bikes though, I wonder how the resale value will hold on the CFmoto compared to Japanese competitors.
That's exactly how I look at it. How nice a thing is when it's new isn't necessarily a good indicator of how well it's made. I've got several older yamaha bikes in the stable, and the two bush pigs get absolutely flogged, chucked, dropped, abused, and neglected, yet they always fire right up, and are ready to go another day. That to me is a sign of a well made thing, I don't doubt that CF can make a bike that will withstand the test of time, but will they?
They're probably not going to hold their resale value as well as their Japanese counterparts. Just my experience, older Japanese motorcycles can still sell just because potential buyers have the confidence that it's going to work for years. Chinese motorcycles are not going to have this going for them. Until maybe they are in the market for a couple of years and people gain confidence in their reliability.
It's worth mentioning, the CFMOTO is made in the exact same factory as the KTM 790, by the same people. KTM 790s have solid reliability, and this motor is an even lower state of tune so it's going to be just fine.
Personally I wouldn't buy anything that matters Chinese. CF Moto reliability going back several years was terrible. Bikes would just cut out randomly going round a roundabout.
If 790s have solid reliability I wonder what bad reliability looks like... And no, they wont hold their value. I learned that lesson with my Kia. It was and still is an awesome car, absolutely bulletproof. But after 5 years, I needed a bigger car because of my growing family and the price that I could have gotten was laughable. I just gave it away to my sister and it is still going strong after 10 years.
The MT-09 is almost double the price of the 800NK here in Australia, so it's even more of a no brainer. CFMoto doesn't quite have the quality of a Honda or Yamaha, but they've been here for 2 decades & have proven reliability. Personally, I'd take a Japanese bike over them, but if you're on a budget CFMoto is a solid choice.
@@Reginvalt From what I've heard they have been selling ATVs for quite some time here in the US as well. No idea how they compare to the Japanese ATV brands, however.
@@Reginvalt That's about how long they've been selling motorcycles here. Their early examples were shit, but once they copied Kawasaki's homework & released the 650NK in 2012 there was a marked improvement in quality & reliability.
My only complaint about CFMoto bikes, after owning the 300NK and riding the 300SS and 450SS, is the fact that they often "lose" neutral when the bike warms up, and they absolutely hate cold starts on cold days. With my 300NK, there were times I was worried it wouldn't start on sub 45f days because it would crank and whine for a good 20 seconds before actually starting. And when riding for more than 20-30 minutes, trying to kick it into neutral, it just wouldn't. Even when it was "in" neutral, the indicator light wouldn't kick on, and letting off the clutch or putting the stand down would often kill the bike.
I think you will be a fool these days to say that China can't make quality products. They absolutely can. As a Japanese national, I see similarities between China now and Japan in the 70's. They are finally putting out quality and they aren't afraid to innovate and try new things out. A lot of us here in Japan wish the Japanese manufacturers stop playing it so safe and try to be more innovative. Atm it only feels like Kawasaki that is innovating and putting out products that their customers really want. Chinese bikes might not be there yet, but competition is always good and I'm hoping this will push other manufacturers to up their game.
The CP3 is such a gem of a motor once unlocked with an proper ECU flash(2 wheel dynoworks or others). There's quite nothing i've ridden close to the excitement that motor brings other than the MT10 which is smoother.(Although I'd love to ride a 765 Triumph sometime). Wish Yamaha would hurry up and bring out the R9 with it.
From an owner of the 800MT in Australia. "That will make 8 bikes. Keeping the CFMOTO 800MT, it has 100000ks on it now ,still runs great, quick wash and comes up looking smick. The quality and reliability of CF MOTOS is top shelf" Yes, that is 100,000km (60,000 miles). He has just ordered a 450MT
A couple thoughts 1) in Jacksonville right now you can get a new 23’ duke 790 for 7k... 2) I’m not worried about a new cfmoto, I’m worried about quality of materials, China still has inconsistent quality on things - is that bolt gonna strip in 5 years? Is the swing arm going to last ? 3) is cfmoto around in 5 years for service? Hyosung, remember them.... 4) resale- is this your own forever bike ? Because in Jacksonville cfmoto are about 25% off msrp in December....
Tbh the worst quality bikes ive seen in motorcycle workshops were all american. Especially indian ftr’s. Dunno if that’s specific to Australia or not, but was not impressed when bolts on a new bike were stripping threads with minimal pressure
I'm not a fan of Chinese made things, but it's worth pointing out that CFMOTO makes the engine for the 790 and it's the same one as the bike in the video. Also they have been around for decades now and have been partnered with KTM for 10 of those years so they aren't going anywhere.
The Harleys that I used to own (2013 and 2017 Lowrider S, both brand new) had the cheapest parts on them in spite of their high price tags and being “made in America”. FYSA, I currently own a CLX 700 Sport.
The CFMoto is a great looking bike. Pity the quickshifter and the steering damper doesn't come with it. I guess it wouldn't be much to add it on later. What I'd really like to see is a 3 way comparison between the GSX8S the NK and the Hornet 750 if that ever arrives here in the US.
Man you are speaking my language. The GSX8S/R and the Hornet 750 are such AWESOME bikes, if Honda would bring that one here I would likely get my first ever Honda that was exciting to me. But then considering that 800NK Advanced...if ony they would bring that here, I just need a bigger budget for bikes lol.
Question: why is a quick shifter even a desirable thing for most people? Is it to be a split second faster while accelerating, or just ultimate laziness? I prefer having to shift the old fashioned way, so I don't see the appeal at all. I've also only ever ridden my 2015 KLR, so I have never been spoiled by literally any sort of mechanical/electrical creature comfort convenience whatsoever lol.. if I were to get any more basic it would mean I'd have to kick-start my damn ride
QS can be completely transparent but its nice to have if you commute a lot. I had that fear too, that it would make me lazy, but I have other bikes without it, and the muscle memory is still there cause a QS doesn't eliminate the clutch at all. @@Andrew-mk7rm
@@Andrew-mk7rmi've got a gsx-8s, sometimes i forget that i've got a QS and change gear as i always have. it's always fun when i remember to use it though, if you get it right it's like butter, especially shifting up.
While I was at the dealership changing the oil on my CF Moto NK 400 I met a Kawasaki owner he just got brand new and was having problems as the battery would drain overnight and he had to start it manually, (foot Pedal) it was already his third visit and the mechanics couldn't figure out the problem. So much for Japan quality.
Reliability may be as good, but it won’t be better and could very likely be less. Esoterically the Yamaha has leg up but the NK is a leap forward for this company from the PRC.
You are paying for the better reliability, there's no escape to that reality. That Chinese bike is based around a KTM model that isn't known for great reliability in the first place. I would still get it as a fun weekend toy, just not as an everyday commuter or for big trips
@Marco-cl9pb the 790 has a pretty solid reputation over the last 3-4 years, especially the engine. It's the little bits on the bike that seem to be the issue.
Quality, much to the chagrin of spite, includes things that will not be apparent when you spend a week on a new bike. Come back in three years when the plastic and rubber formulations that make up fluid seals, electrical connecters etc, are crumbling to bits. Not to mention subpar metallurgy that will allow one part to become many parts. I know, iv'e had four of such bikes. Also have a ninja 250 that I bought in 2002. Still runs like a top. Remember when CSC was starting to come out? Qiangjiang? Zongshen? It's the same thing over and over. They build up the hype, and say "this time its different", and then after awhile the reality sets in for the suckers that bought into it and made a purchase. Cheats
@MrDavidfuchser. You're right. Spite doesn't know about the quality in 3 years time. Neither do I, nor you. Like many, you are making assumptions based on bias. We will have to wait and see. After owning a CFMoto for 2 years I suspect everything would be fine in another year. Unfortunately I sold it 1 year ago and regretted that 2 weeks after selling it. I sold the wrong bike - should have been my Versys 300 but not for the obvious reasons. I'm getting older and losing my strength and sense of balance. The Versys was just too high in the seat. I was fine on the CFMoto. If our experience in Australia is anything to go by, CFMoto is in it for the long haul.
It's facts that they don't have the same built quality then Japanese bikes for example. Doesn't mean they suck or are bad or you get a shait quality bike. European bikes are also different and not built to the same specs. Some may be better some may be a little bit less. Doesn't mean they're bad either. CFMoto's might come with or have different features better or worse then the Japanese ones for example, but the CFMoto's are good solid bikes. Dealers around me sell them as well, and they won't do so if they didn't trust the product as well. That's the case in general. If they sucked they wouldn't be sold and marketed, expanded on and attracting bigger crowds while doing so. Also besides the MT09 there are plenty of naked bikes to compare it to. E.g. the Z800/900, GSX-S/GSX-8S, Hornet 750, CB650R, MT07, Speed Triple, KTM, MV Agusta, BMW, Ducati's to name a few other naked bikes brands. All different, yet all good, sure some are more costly in maintenance, or fail with some parts easier then others or shred tires faster, lol. 😆
in Romania u can get the advanced version with aprox. 6000$ tax included. that version has 8' display with carplay and android auto, steering damper, quickshifter and 5y warranty. i don.t think anything can beat this offer 😊
I give it credit where credit is due. I like how the MT09 looks different in the front. I bought my base black Gen 3 MT09 with the extra 4 year warranty for $8700 so I still pick it. CFMOTO is probably gonna outsell the big names soon though. Although I would like to see the long term reliability.
No, the point was to take the gold standard bike when it comes Japanese naked middleweights and see if the CFMOTO can match the quality. It's not about comparing like bikes, we're looking at the quality
Just about to pull the trigger on a new bike, here in the Philippines. Currently own a Yamaha R3 and a Yamaha Sniper 150. At 60+, I am finding the R3 is just a little bit too uncomfortable on my wrists on a long ride (250+ miles). The Sniper is capable of long rides, but lacks a little bit of oomph, especially two up. There are no freeways on Mindanao, and 60-65mph is about as fast as it's sensible to ride. I've narrowed down my choices to either a Husqvarna Svartpilen 200, or a CFMOTO 300 CLX (I did have the Suzuki 250 SX Vstrom on the list, but my wife vetoed it on the pillion seat being too high). Unless I can haggle a reasonable discount on the Husky, the CFMOTO will be my next bike. I did manage to haggle a good deal on the Husky. So I'm now the proud owner of a Svartpilen 200, and have put about 600km on the clock.
In terms of price and power yeah, but the point was not apples for apples, it was to take a bike widely considered the gold standard for Japanese naked bike quality, and pit the CFMOTO against it to see if the quality matches up.
CFMoto makes probably some of the best handling bikes in China. However, I had a 2016 650nk from 2018-2022 and there are tons of small issues throughout the years, while my current 2016 xsr900 from 2022-2024 has 0 issues so far. You better be able to fix the thing if you get the NK😂
The CF Moto is cheaper today. It will also lose more of it's value by the time you decide to get a different bike. The MT-09 will still be good to go decades from now if you do basic maintenance and will be worth a lot more when you want to sell it.
@@chrispekel5709 they use cheap internals the plastics are cheap they age faster than japanese motorcycles buddy of mine has a cfmoto the paint looks really cheap the frame and swingarm rusts easily nuts and bolts look really low quality the engines are good but the rest of the bike...
I agree. I went to look at a CF Moto at a local dealer, it's very impressive but that re sale value will just crash. That being said it would make sense to get a one year old one that's taken the depreciation hit and still has 3 years warranty left
This is random but I'd love to see you review a duke 200. I haven't found a good video on one yet. A grom is a touch boring for me and I would nearly die going to the closest walmart in my area (70 mph road) so a duke 200 seems like a decent middle ground but I want a good review for insight 🍞
I'm interested as well. May not be a perfect review for me from spite because him and I are completely opposite in size and I need to understand the bike from a small person's point of view in terms of speed and comfort.
I had one for 2 years. 2020 model. Sold it for $3800. It did fine. Could take it on the highway. Topped out around 75-80 mph, although uphill into the wind it would be more like 65 mph. I liked that little bike. Got more compliments on it than my other bikes, because there aren't really a lot around, and KTM, for all their other issues, makes nice looking bikes. I would buy again if I wanted a budget commuter bike that looks cool. But if you could pick up an mt-03 for a similar price, i'd go that route
I picked the MT 09 over the Turono because there are 3 Yamaha dealerships within 10 miles of my house, wouldn't even consider CFMoto till there's at least 2 dealerships within 20 miles of my house.
Fantastic head to head compare and contrast. Fair, thorough, concise and professional. Having the owner ride his own bike really gives this review legitimacy and transparency. I've been really pushing for the NK800. I say this out of honesty, sincerity, and respect. If the only thing Ben doesn't like about the MT-07 SP is the looks, why not get an XSR900? The "zing" of the NK's parallel twin sounds just as amazing as Harley's (potato potato) rumble (and this is coming from someone who fell in love with Harley for their look and sound) I agree, spend the extra money on a pipe and track days and have an awesome 2024.❤ The NK is unashamedly what it is and that's what I respect about it and the brand.
i think the XSR900 has a slightly more leaned forward riding position than the 09SP. I've been comparing the two for months and that's the biggest difference i can find.
I can’t believe that Chinese copy of mv Augusta looks better than Yamaha for you guys ! 🤯 And the quality aspect… you have to live with the bike to see is the bike any good!Yamaha is quality we know that but fc moto we still have to see!! Love the channel ❤
Saw the CFMOTO in a shop the other day, and amongst the ducs and triumphs it stood out - a really beautiful machine. Interesting to see how Kiska design kept a signature look (KTM 790), but changed the whole feel of the machine. If it had TC, I'd be sorely tempted. BTW - the QS is a plug and play option for a couple hundred more. I think another comparo might be this VS the xsr900 - which, again, is more expensive, but would the $2k stretch be worth it.
I just bought an MT-09 base for only 1K more than the CFMoto price. Why compare to the "SP" and add dealer fees to the Yamaha but not the CF Moto? There is not a $4K difference between these bikes.
The NK looks pretty nice, from its Loki-ish headlight to the tip of its exhaust, but then it fails miserably. Where the heck did the last 20 percent of the motorcycle go behind the pillion/taillight? Call me crazy or old school, but I loath 'tail-tidys' and/or splashguards attached to the swingarm. Motorcycles are meant to have a rear fender or ducktail, such as the original Z-1.
Spite thank you for making this video, I think nk 800 is deffinatly worth considering, as you know the used market would treat this cf moto real well I could pry get that bike for 4 or 5 grand after 2 years
While I'm glad you used the MT-09sp because it is clearly the better motorcycle... but it illustrates how its only just barely better... and maybe not 4 grand worth of better depending on your riding needs. Personally, I'm still leaning toward the Yamaha and I fully admit to being biased toward Japanese bikes.
Hi Spite, the NK 800 looks ok, but I'd go for the Suzuki GSX-8R foe me personally. However, out of the two your riding, I'd take the MT-09, bt have the headlight from the NK.
One thing I think might be an issue later on is aftermarket support, this is true for most china things, my china cellphone got updates for less then a year and an equal big brand phone would cost double and get 3 years support at least. They simply have to cut cost's in someway but that don't mean the product is bad in quality.
Tbf. It will all depend on how will it sell. It's not like CFmoto is the only manufacturer dropping models. For example NK400 and 650 is sold in asia for almost a decade now Clx700 is selling for almost 5years already. In contrary, Honda Valkyrie and CTX1300 was dropped within a year. Suzuki B-King, Ducati supersport are also an example being sold for just 5 years. @@ellwoodwolf
As the video went on there was more and more “allowances” being made for the CFMoto, it think you two were being a little harsh on the MT’s appearance, I will agree it could certainly look better and the CF’s headlight certainly looked better but that’s where it ends for me at least. I see that the CF’s suspension had some professional set up changes but I assume the MT was factory? This is much more important than most people give credit and you may have found if the same opportunity for a pro to set up the suspension on the MT it certainly would’ve been beneficial at the very least as this effects huge aspects of how a bike and it’s rider gets down the road. The motor is a non issue, the engine in the MT particularly in this latest model is an absolute peach and the CF will never be able to compete in its current configuration. Bottom line is I think you are getting your money’s worth from the MT, the CF is a good value proposition but there’s also the standard MT09 which I’m guessing sits in between these two pricing wise which is also an excellent bike so I’m thinking here you actually are getting what you’re paying for and at the end of the day it comes down to budget and desire..
Lovely my NK Advanced, but the biggest issues are the headlight performance is horrid and small fuel tank, the front suspension was super soft when I picked it up which meant a lot of diving under braking. But over all its a dream to own. If only they could make the petrol tank also unlocked without a key so you just need to use your phone.
I just noticed CFmoto gives you 5 year warrenty if you buy these in The Netherlands. With unlimted KMers too. Price €9000 MT-07 €8500 MT-09 €12,300 MT-09 SP €14.100
Hi, you might be able to help. I have an NK800 Sport UK spec which has the capability of connecting a headset to the instruments to be remotely operated via the left hand controls but the problem is what headsets are compatible ? So there it is a puzzle you might be able to help me solve, if you can't then maybe i should ask Chase on two wheels. 😂
Hi , i have bought a NK800 advanced , I can get the cf moto app , and bluetooth it to my bike , but when i start my ride , the screen goes black. it still shows the speedo etc , but the bottom half, where the map was , goes black. its as if the TFT cant see the phone anymore. but at the end of my ride , my ride can be seen in the cfmoto app , but its not in the tracking part , just the ride part. is there an idiots guide to how to use the TFT cf moto turn by turn , or andoid connections . just wandered if you had done a helpful how to at all? thanks have watched your reviews , one reason why i bought the bike. keep up the good work, Duncan UK
I have to admit this thing looks solid. GJ whoever was designing it. Don't buying, obviously, until last chineze kommy is in his kommy heaven with mao and sh4t. But looks are good.
Picked up a 2024 800 NK today for $5k brand new. Nothing could touch the value at that price point! I went in to buy a gsx-s1000 that was $9k and couldn’t justify the price difference to myself. If it looses half its value in a year that’s only $2.5k, screw it lol
For me, 800NK has the quality I needed. But MT09 hit the excellent mark. Basically, if you need a bike just to experience, you could just go for the 800NK. It's more than enough, but make sure you can take care of it. And do not expect its value to hold when you're gonna sell it. But if you're someone who prioritizes brands, engine performance, track time and selling value, then take the MT09.
A comparison to a MT-07 would be more fair I think. The 3-cylinder has got a distinct and edgier sound and feel IMO and the 2-cylinder has got a more comparable HP-figure.
No Rear view mirrors on the CFMoto? A better comparison would be the XSR at $10.3K. I have zero complaints with the XSR suspension once I went thru it. Are the Ohlin's worth it??
I'd get the suspension dialed/sorted at 50USD, a li-ion battery and better tires (michelin cup2's / pirelli rosso iv's) for the 4000USD difference~ end pipe ... maybe. maybe not. And maybe a flyscreen.
Strangely why doesn’t the US get the advanced version? You have a quick shifter fitted & touch screen tablet fitted as standard! How much more would it cost in the US?
You definitely hit the nail on the head in the comparison between the two. Is the yamaha the better bike? Yes it is. But, is it 4k better? That is much more subjective, and i dont feel there is an absolute right/wrong answer.
I've had 2 CP3 bikes, so I love their character but MT09s never were references of quality of ride. Everyone complains about its front end and the lousy chassis. Never had the chance to try the gen3 though.
In the UK a 2023 Duke 790 will cost me around £7,000, the 2024 Duke will cost me around £8,000. The CFMOTO 800NK Advanced will cost me about £7,500, The MT09sp will cost me around £11.500. That's a big difference in price. The sp09 for me does not offer enough for the extra cash. I will never fully use all it power, so it's just wasted cash for me, even though it is the better bike. If I was buying a new bike tomorrow, I would take either 2023 duke 790 or the NK Advanced.
The CFMoto bikes look nice but I'm not buying until their dealer network is better developed and I see how their resale values hold up. MSRP for a new Chinese bike can be enticing but at what price would you buy a used Chinese bike?
Here in Australia they seem to have slightly worse resale than Japanese, but not overly so considering they are cheap to start with. They are also a bit harder to sell because as beginner bikes, the older folks tell younger folks who want to buy them they are garbage. Which is painfully annoying, as they are not garbage at all in my experience (the 2017 onwards models). You'll likely have the same issues in the US when there's lots of them around
@@chrispekel5709 Yeah in the US they are not very popular. At least in my area. I think my state has two, maybe three CFMoto dealers. Their quads seem to sell ok but I haven't seen any of their street bikes on the road or up for sale used.
Moneywise, maybe get a MT-09 used to save the same $4000. Or a new MT-07 that is considered very reliable. Nice to see the Chinese motorcycle has better brake feel, not a good place to cut costs.
I have a 2018 Kawasaki Z125 that I've put almost 20k miles on. Anyone with like an SSR or other Chinese 125 with that many miles? It's unfortunate but only time will tell if the CFMoto bikes can stand up to the established Japanese ones
I recognize that CF Moto has good models, and even a slightly better price,.. but still,.. in these two models and even more so being the SP version,.. it's clear to me that I preferred the MT 09,.. above all because the Yamaha crossplane family engines are some of the best today,.. several mechanics from all over the world say that in the case of MT,.. it is rarely necessary to repair or change anything beyond the normal overhaul, even with a few dozen thousands of km already driven,..in my opinion, this CF bike has its price, its asset,..,. and the truth is that the bike in general is much more western than Chinese,.. seeing the equipment and engine it has,..,. and that's not even bad,..and it could be interesting for those who want a mt 07,. or a Hornet 750 and you can give a little more and have something more premium, more complete and more powerful,..but against the 09,. I don't think it will,.. great sales lady, the 3 cylinder conveys something very different and in my opinion,.. I believe it is more exciting,.. but each one knows,. what should you choose...
Im not a fan of china, however my local dealer did a cfmoto demo ride and i actually enjoyed their line up. I still couldn't see myself buying one, but they left a positive impression. Who knows...
I’m not a fan of communist China either but my local dealer didn’t force me to wear a mask when in the store. I originally wanted a CB500f but the local Honda dealer wouldn’t let me in without a mask. So a CF MOTO is in my garage 😂
@MrWhitelightning73 interesting, that's really lame on them imo. My Royal enfield, cfmoto and honda dealer are all 1 dealer. I got the SCL500 and the scram 411. Id buy a CFmoto 300nk but 2 bikes is enough... for now lol. Hope u enjoy ur bike!

Are they still calling their damper a "dampener"?
Even if the CFMoto isn’t necessarily better than the MT09, it’s great that there’s more competition for the market. I’m excited that there’s more options for people to choose from.

It would be interesting to see what the repair/maintenance bills would be after 2-3 or 5 years for both bikes
Sounds like my dad about Japanese bikes in the late sixties
I had a CFMoto 650GT for two years and 32,000km.
Repairs = zero
Maintenance = normal servicing (cheap, basically just oil changes and adjustments).
Exactly what I figured... sometimes you get what you pay for...
Definitely nice to hear the on-bike conversation between the two of you. Similar to when Spite rode with that other guy.
Looks good from every angle besides the front. But with a good windscreen even the front looks decent.
The 24 mt09 is a better bike , but man did they F up with the iron man face... it’s not gonna age well. It’s sooo much worse
Yeah, it’s kind of funny how preferences go. I’ve got a cbr650r which is an awesome “all around” bike. But nearly every review talks about getting a “tail tidy” to make it look better. I love the “dragon tail” on my bike. Wouldn’t change it if I could.

CF moto making big push these days to all the influencers
They should push to have a dealership network. It looks cheap until you need a repair and no shop will touch a Chinese bike
Cfmoto has been making atvs for like a decade already. Should be the same dealership network.
I used to be the biggest skeptic of CF and then I bought one... I'm definitely a fan now.

The 450ss is a very fun bike. We have one and love riding it. It's comfortable and makes a great sound.
I just love 3 cylinder sound it's perfect even in cars! At some point i will buy one it makes me happy when i hear it 😅
Agree with you! I own a XSR900 first gen and love the sound, response, lightness and economy of the bike.

@@MrRadialdrift I'm just that good
I am not really concerned with the fit and finish of the CFmoto bikes when compared at brand new to a Japanese bike.
Nice comparison. By the way your audio quality (not your friend's) is phenomenal - best I've ever heard from a motovlogger
Ben is an awesome addition to the channel....keep it coming 👍
Agreed! They are enjoyable as a duo.
They sell ATVs for 16 (well, almost 17) years here in Russia.
Cfmoto compares to low end Japanese stuff which is all made in SE Asia. At this point the quality is pretty much the same
@@chrispekel5709 Plenty of brands are making bikes in SE Asia. That has nothing to do with their quality.
Please kill the music altogether when you're talking as it just adds noise to the background like that.
This yes, but plz don't stop the metal, there are so few of us metalheads left is seems
Same thing applies to Japanese cars. I know they make reliable cars. But their designs are boring. I wish Japan would make a muscle car.
The quality and reliability of CF MOTOS is top shelf"
Yes, that is 100,000km (60,000 miles). He has just ordered a 450MT
These CFMoto bikes look really great in the flesh.
They used the term “squid” several times. What are they referring to 🤷♂️
MT-09 vs XSR-900 I’m sure they’re similar but I just love the retro headlight of the XSR
To me the XSR900 is the best looking bike I’ve seen
A couple thoughts 1) in Jacksonville right now you can get a new 23’ duke 790 for 7k... 2) I’m not worried about a new cfmoto, I’m worried about quality of materials, China still has inconsistent quality on things - is that bolt gonna strip in 5 years? Is the swing arm going to last ? 3) is cfmoto around in 5 years for service? Hyosung, remember them.... 4) resale- is this your own forever bike ? Because in Jacksonville cfmoto are about 25% off msrp in December....
I believe that the KTM 790's are made by CFMOTO in China.
In Belgium you get 5 years of warranty on a new CFMOTO. I guess they are quite sure about their quality. 😁

Maybe he locked the key in the position that allows the headlight to remain on.
Lol a battery.. engine will last for 10 years and maybe more compared to your duke shit.
Reliability may be as good, but it won’t be better and could very likely be less. Esoterically the Yamaha has leg up but the NK is a leap forward for this company from the PRC.
If any bike in this video's esoteric it's the NK, and TBH I think the reliability argument is waaaay overblown
Most bikers trade their motorcycles every couple of years anyways
I think the MT09 looks great
Poor lost souls! 😁
Hey Spite, what kind of gas mileage are you getting with the 800nk
F... here in Germany, the cheapest cost 7k Euros. I would be yesterday at the shop for 6k.
Only reason it would outsell is because people that buy them would have to keep replacing them every 3-5years😂

Enjoy the content.
I believe a better comparison would have been the Suzuki GSX-8S since the price is about the same.
In terms of price and power yeah, but the point was not apples for apples, it was to take a bike widely considered the gold standard for Japanese naked bike quality, and pit the CFMOTO against it to see if the quality matches up.
Fair enough. Do you have any thoughts offhand on the 8S vs the NK?
The 8s/r are too much with their suspension
CFMoto makes probably some of the best handling bikes in China. However, I had a 2016 650nk from 2018-2022 and there are tons of small issues throughout the years, while my current 2016 xsr900 from 2022-2024 has 0 issues so far. You better be able to fix the thing if you get the NK😂

The CF Moto is cheaper today. It will also lose more of it's value by the time you decide to get a different bike. The MT-09 will still be good to go decades from now if you do basic maintenance and will be worth a lot more when you want to sell it.

I agree, spend the extra money on a pipe and track days and have an awesome 2024.❤
The NK is unashamedly what it is and that's what I respect about it and the brand.

Picked up a 2023 300nk.
It’s a blast to ride plus 70mpg 😂
Good report Spite.
CFmoto design is by Kiska, austrian guys who make KTM designs. For me they are both bad. But it is as bad as KTM.
Look how quickly cfmoto has already dropped motorcycles out of their lineup- the 800nk is gone by 27. And I bet support also
Tbf. It will all depend on how will it sell. It's not like CFmoto is the only manufacturer dropping models. For example NK400 and 650 is sold in asia for almost a decade now
Clx700 is selling for almost 5years already. In contrary, Honda Valkyrie and CTX1300 was dropped within a year. Suzuki B-King, Ducati supersport are also an example being sold for just 5 years. @@ellwoodwolf
CFMoto, no aftermarket parts. Parts available from dealer only. CFMoto built in China. Try not to buy Chinese made products if you are given a choice.
Don’t forget about the CCP, I mean cfmoto app.
maybe shouldn't get an iphone or android device too
@@hahahahaojielike i said, "Try not to buy Chinese products, IF YOU ARE GIVEN A CHOICE.
Z900 beats everything in this middle weight category.
Z900 gang🫡🫡🫡
Maybe yes maybe not, Triumph 765 RS is lighter than Z900 so does not beats everything, cheers!
Maybe on the flat narrow track lol 😂
@@GunBiker07 what is your choice?
Lovely my NK Advanced, but the biggest issues are the headlight performance is horrid and small fuel tank, the front suspension was super soft when I picked it up which meant a lot of diving under braking. But over all its a dream to own.
If only they could make the petrol tank also unlocked without a key so you just need to use your phone.
The cp3 engine alone is worth the money, tfat engine is bullet proof
I just noticed CFmoto gives you 5 year warrenty if you buy these in The Netherlands. With unlimted KMers too.
Price €9000
MT-07 €8500
MT-09 €12,300
MT-09 SP €14.100
That definitely helps
You have my attention- a very interesting question to ask.
Question:
Quadlock for a 6th Gen VFR800 available?
Hard to believe the CF has better brakes than the Yamaha.... Id love to try one myself. Good comparison.
I would say the styling of the headlight is better but that's about it.
The fact that Americans would buy/support china product like this after what they do to us is beyond me. Buy American or from our allies.
Why are we shilling so hard for chinese bikes bruh. Your high if you pick that over an MT 09
Because that’s the only new stuff to market- do you want him to keep trying to convince people pan America is the bees knees ?
Its you're, not your.
I'd get the suspension dialed/sorted at 50USD, a li-ion battery and better tires (michelin cup2's / pirelli rosso iv's) for the 4000USD difference~
end pipe ... maybe. maybe not.
And maybe a flyscreen.
I think parallel twins sound good with a shorty exhaust.
7690euros for advanced version with huge screen and quickshifter here in serbia atm😮
Strangely why doesn’t the US get the advanced version? You have a quick shifter fitted & touch screen tablet fitted as standard! How much more would it cost in the US?
Hey what gloves was your guest rider wearing? they look the business.
Rev’it Metis 2
You definitely hit the nail on the head in the comparison between the two. Is the yamaha the better bike? Yes it is. But, is it 4k better? That is much more subjective, and i dont feel there is an absolute right/wrong answer.
I've had 2 CP3 bikes, so I love their character but MT09s never were references of quality of ride. Everyone complains about its front end and the lousy chassis. Never had the chance to try the gen3 though.
MT09 just has that grunt!
Hey dont forget that the mt had a decat akrapovich while the nk was all natural haha so yeah makes sense the difference in torque
Z900 base cost the same as the NK
How is this compared to z1000?
Moneywise, maybe get a MT-09 used to save the same $4000. Or a new MT-07 that is considered very reliable. Nice to see the Chinese motorcycle has better brake feel, not a good place to cut costs.
Mt 07 and the nt800 are they priced close?
I will never buy a bike without a large dealership network. A lot of small motorcycle shops wont even touch chinese bikes.
And they know why. It's like working on cheap scooters. You fix one thing, another one breaks...
@@majormassenspektrometer Nope, it's because they're really stupid and still think China is where it was in 2009 with this stuff.
CFMoto works with KTM, you know that right? Even better, the 800NK shares an engine with the Duke 790.
@@darko_lengkeek-jakupovic One reason more not to buy it.
These guys sound like they are doing their subtle influencing to promote CF regardless of the other design and component superiority of the MT-09.
I have a 2018 Kawasaki Z125 that I've put almost 20k miles on. Anyone with like an SSR or other Chinese 125 with that many miles? It's unfortunate but only time will tell if the CFMoto bikes can stand up to the established Japanese ones
What i want to know is if KTM parts will fit this bike? It is the same engine basically as the 790.
Could anyone name the music on the background?
So CFMoto sell bikes with Side mirror as optional or ??? Where are they?
@@MrWhitelightning73 Im not a fan of oligarchy USA, but that is not the reason i don't want a Harley.
I just think of resale value and after riding a chinesium bike for 10 to 20 thousand miles, what are you left with?
