Tiff! I'm glad you're enjoying Ultimate X-Men. I am too, and I love what Peach Momoko is doing. It's got great horror vibes and yet has a beautiful and colorful artstyle. I'm loving all the characters, and Surge seems to be a great addition. I have no idea where it's going, but I am along for the ride.
Nick Dragotta is awesome, he's work in East of West is incredible.

Dan Watters is one of my favorite up and coming writers, his recent collaborations with Ram V have been great and his Azrael miniseries that came out a little bit ago was amazing. That book turned me onto him and I've thoroughly enjoyed everything from him I've picked up, i think Tiffany would really enjoy his stuff (we tend to have similar tastes, especially when it comes to horror stuff)

After I watched the all in video i checked league of comic geeks ans saw that tom taylor getting on detective comics means he's leaving titans. The writer for the october issue is gonna be John Laymen with Pete Woods doing art. The cover also shows that roy harper is gonna be back on the sqaud which is pretty exciting. Im super interested where the run goes from that point on.
Tom taylor's last issue of titans will be issue 15 with his dark raven arc and John Layman will be the new writer for titans starting with issue 16.
i'm so happy kelly thompson is writing for wonder woman and scott snyder is writing batman again. i get to have 2 of my favorite comic book writers writing for wonder woman. this run would be a really good/great alternative, if you don't like king's wonder woman run. since i don't like zdarsky's main batman title, i'm fine with them going back to my favorite batman writer for this. i'm kinda interested in what jason aaron has in store for us for his superman run. hopefully, it's better than anything Williamson is doing with the superman title.
having these new creative teams for nightwing, catwoman, and harley quinn makes me want to read these runs that i haven't been putting them on my pull list. that's not accounting for the creatives for the absolute dc universe with no books yet: like dan watters, ram v, and jeff lemire being in it. which i'm also interesting in.
this is why it's hard to some how make my pull list manageable.
Apparently the new writer for Harley Quinn is the same writer who wrote Spider-Man and the X-Men, aka the comic with the infamous Sauron “I want to turn people into dinosaurs” panel. So yeah, this might be the best HQ run she’s had in a while
Constantine is too big of a POS for me to get into his series. its why i dont read books like punisher or Deadpool lmao

I didn't pick up phoenix, and i won't now, for the same reason i won't pick up anything land does. But i love stephanie Phillips. I liked her harley despite riley rossmo and i absolutely adore grim. But i won't pick up phoenix

I was talking with Olivier Coipel about the dude tracing him for Phoenix #1 & the preview for the second issue & he told me that people have been sending comparisons of his artwork and the art of the Phoenix artist and he said that he can't believe it
And I just feel bad for him because Marvel have Oliviers original art so this guy probably overlayed it and traced it & it's so jarring because the non traced artwork sucks by comparison

I think making a DC universe which takes the characters and removes all their comfort and elements that help define their origin or at least is a backdrop for their characters I think is interesting.
Batman not having Alfred and having no money is really fun and exciting. I want to see that honestly.

Superman, the main one for me. The image looks hopeful and bleak somehow. No Kents, no home. I wonder that they’ll do. I’d love to see this Superman not really believing in himself but still trying to inspire the world. Instead of the Kents raising him he needs to raise himself and once he believes in himself that’s when he can truly inspire the world. I’d like that

@@whenallelsfails21 no if you read action comics #1 he didn't have anybody as parents. it's only when superman got his own series with superman #1, that jerry siegel and joe shuster created a new origin for him. so not giving him parents is just going back to action comics #1

For the comic pop shop, are you going to be teaming up with any of Instagram bootleg pages that make some of the shirts you wear in your videos? (I want to say the page is white gold industries but I can't remember)
I don't mind the Absolute Batman costume, yes he has a rectangle on his chest but the costume has a "less is more" kind of change to it, he even has trunks! (sincere cheer)
What ruins the look for me is how big he is. He looks like Brock Samson nothing against Brock, I love Venture bros. I just can't help but feel like i'd enjoy the costume more if Bruce's body looked more like Henchman 21 for the later seasons of Venture Bros.
Gary Fisher has muscles but also has 20 - 30% body fat. A Batman with that body type would be a real underdog!

That Phoenix book totally reminded me of supergirl woman of tomorrow. The narration was so not on point and unlike woman of tomorrow it didn't grip me at all.
I did read Batman 150 and it definitely felt more like classic Batman and more like what he wanted
Honestly, my buddies and I have mostly mocked this whole thing. It’s a universe that says “what if your heroes didn’t have any thing that makes them, them”
How about, what if you just tell good classic stories with the characters which you don’t do anymore. Idk.
Superman “what if he’s lonely and grows up powerful but alone”

i mean you are going to get "classic" stories already with the main universe, so i don't see the problem with this new universe mission statement.

@@johnthai6188 we’ve had tons of stories with a version of Superman out of touch with humanity and same for WW, and this is a painfully weak idea for Batman. How many times are they gonna try a broke Batman, still w no Alfred. That’s what the main Batman book was supposed to be already lmao they just made this one stupidly huge…great
@@FlipFlab technically batman isn't broke anymore with the latest issue of zdarsky batman, but whatever. i would say there is a difference between alfred being dead in the main universe vs this new universe. alfred being dead in the main universe forces bruce to trying to be more open with his supporting cast. which is what we are seeing in detective by ram v, batman and robin by williamson and even, as much as i don't like zdarsky batman, the main batman title has bruce at the end open up to his family. within this new universe, this batman is more of a working class hero, fighting alone in a corrupt city. which is way different than main universe batman, because he's not alone or poor.
i feel like the reason you feel like these topics of characterization are overdone is because these characters have gone on for over 80 years; so there will be repeating themes at play here. that's just how superhero comics are made because there isn't an ending; so there will be themes that will be repeated over and over again. isn't that a good thing? that these characters' stories, that are over 80 years old, can stand the test of time with repeating the same plot elements. even your idea of wanting to go back to the "classic", whatever that means, is just wanting to repeat the old stories/characterization again.
anyways if you really don't like what the absolute dc universe has to offer, you don't have to read it. the main universe is still continuing with new arcs and creative teams; it's not like this is the new 52 or post crisis. where dc is rebooting their universe and scrapping the old one. which, i think is a good thing logistically in wanting to have a manageable pull list. if you don't like this new universe, you still have the main universe to fall back on. unlike me, you actually get to have a manageable pull list for dc books.
i can understand that the pitch for this universe can feel uninspired on a surface level detail. having said that, with the creative teams on these titles, we should have faith in them. at the very least we shouldn't make judgement calls that this is going to suck because, those first issues aren't out yet.
