Amanda Waller is finally living up to her true potential. She is the one woman ORCHIS of the DCU. The 1st issue of Absolute Power was orchestrated very well. Good job DC!
Amanda has been a problem. Now they’ve given her the means to really shine as a character!!! We don’t get too many Black big bads and this is top tier villain behavior.

I was not expecting this to be as good as it is. Waller is a solid villain who is truly pushing too far into her goals, turning the earth into a dystopian prison along with trashing the people’s perception of reality. The artwork and colors are amazing. The design of the tech overlays on whatever is taking the superhero powers is fantastic. I also have to say, the way Failsafe and The Brainiac Queen are brought in and reprogrammed feel earned, especially the fucked up manipulation of Brainiac Queen. Very excited to see where this goes!
I hope James Gunn really leans into Waller in the new DCU. With an actor like they have for her, the character could really shine. Show how diabolical she can be, how menacing, how strategic, how straight cold blooded. Oh yeah, don’t kill off the character, let her be a presence throughout the DCU. Antagonizing everyone, hero and villain alike.
Not only did Mark Waid write "Tower of Babel", but he ran point on the "Operation Zero Tolerance" storyline in the X-Men books back in the 90s, in which an anti-mutant militia group with a robot zealot in their command cadre sent teams of superpowered robots backed up by government-aligned gunmen against the heroes He's done this before and done it well, and he has honestly only gotten better at it with age.
It's an interesting story arc, that said I'm not sure how I feel about the story from the general public's POV but it's not unbelievable. On the one hand we have superheroes causing massive property damage, illegally requiring personal information, and they do basically throw their weight around with minimal punishment for their actions. Afterall a normal person can't really stop Superman if he was to kill a civilian, these people are angels but what happens if they decide to abuse that power? We've seen multiple story arcs where the justice league has fought internally and it's ended up tearing apart cities and homes. Not to mention their questionable morals, Batman's willing to cripple random goons and grunts but won't find more indefinite solutions for the Joker, Professor Pyg, or Scarecrow. On the other hand the amount of times the Justice League or miscellaneous heroes save the day is so unquantifiable that it's insane to think that the public would actually turn their backs on their heroes. If not even for the goodwill they've built up, then what about world ending threats like Darkseid, Braniac or Doomsday? If anything I'd imagine that the public would be so fed up with villains ruining their lives that they'd take the justice system into their own hands so Amanda Waller is kind of dumb for this as the system should be handling the villains rather than the people actually trying to save the Earth. I am curious as to how they can strip the powers of Kryptonians and Martians though, afterall those abilities are biological or Wonder Woman or Shazam who's abilities are more mythical in origin.
In the public pov this is taking place not so long after one hero (Beast Boy) lost control and started infesting the planet with the starros and another time where the public was tormented by their own nightmares so the distrust is still fresh.

Nah fuck dc
@@JeremiahKelly17damn...why don't you like DC?
@adamstheory9281 dc hasn't been hittin like it use to I was a dc fanboy but since the kraoka era i been a marvel boy miles morales run is amazing too
@@adamstheory9281I def found Marvel’s stories to be so much more engrossing than DC that I eventually just dropped DC. I particularly liked how Marvel takes non-combatant characters such say Cypher and Prodigy, believably weaves them into the major stories. What you recommending on the DC roster?
@JeremiahKelly17 well both are good. I typically follow books from both, but to each their own. Hope you enjoy your comics either way
Isn't this plagiarizing "Fall of The House of X"?
"I have stopped reading D C." Did you really have to explain yourself?

Dc is just wack. The whole AI covers and art. Haven't been able to pick up a Batman comic since Death of the Family. The stories are just not for me anymore.
Anyone who says Mark Waid sucks doesn't read comics and shouldn't be listened to
He's enslaved to the silver age, nuff said
