I one hundred percent support the idea of getting as many rainworlders together as possible and making one absolutely MASSIVE lore video that covers like literally everything
Slight correction: The reason the ancients wanted to find a new way to ascend without void fluid was probably not because they were scared of becoming echoes. The way Moon describes the echoes implies that knowledge about them was not very widespread among the ancients and iterators, like they were rumors or ghost stories that would scare some ancients away from the void baths, but not all or even most of them. The actual reason for the iterators' construction was because the ancients didn't just want to ascend themselves, they also wanted to help all the other creatures of the world ascend as well. In one of the colored pearls, an ancient describes Five Pebbles as a "Gift of Charity from Us to The World", and Five Pebbles likewise calls himself a gift, the slugcat the recipient, and the long-dead ancients as the noble benefactors. This is why the ancients expected the iterators to continue working on the Great Problem even after they all ascended, the goal was never to ascend the ancients, but to ascend the entire world.
I could be mistaken, but wasn't the information wide spread? People wanted to end and upon realizing echoes happened they started casting away their belongings and attachments. I think it is well within reason that to convince someone they had to throw everything away for them to need to know about echoes otherwise there would be millions of echoes. Having no information is the equivalent of telling people "Smoking is bad" back when it was popular and treated as good. You'd look like a psycho even if right. People are going to throw themselves into the fluid without hesitation unless they know it can fail and be worse then their current life cycles.
"As an Iterator, he is also a Gift of Charity from Us to The World (unable to reach Enlightenment by itself - being composed mostly of Rock, Gas, dull witted Bugs and Microbes - and towards which We thus have Obligations)." It seems a common misconception is that the "itself" mentioned in this pearl is the _iterator_ - at least me and a few others made this mistake. It is, of course, actually referring to the World. I think it's fascinating how they believed they had an obligation to enlighten the world. Iterators may have transformed the planet (especially in Downpour lore) but they really were a noble gift.
@@Buglin_Burger7878 Belief in the "five natural urges" was already well-established prior to the void fluid revolution, so it couldn't have been a reaction to the echoes as they were already doing it long before any echoes existed. The implication is that it was an exercise of faith equivalent to real-world Buddhist practices, it just coincidentally happened to be correct.
Yeah.. But it's kinda contradict with the fact that they build more and more iterators.. I mean, the rain they caused also makes a lot of creatures suffer more and more and with the cycle those creatures will experience it again and again right?
I think the single best moment of the game is with Rhinestones Beneath Shattered Glass, the final Echo we meet in the game. Warning, probably very pretentious sounding essay. The entire game is following two different philosophies of existence, one being following a path of Ascension/Nirvana which is to stop existing and ascend to a higher plane of being, however sacrificing everything in the process. While the second path is to continue existing through the cycle, suffering, but also being able to actually enjoy life and what it offers, and being able to actually love and care. The base game primarily follows the Ascension path, with basically every character and pearl and Echo either not denying it, or outright agreeing with it. Always saying that the removal of suffering is the only possible way for happiness. The only exception is Moon, who has like... 2 lines relating with how life is beautiful. It's only until the final playthrough, Saint, when we finally get the single character who literally, point-for-point, explains the moral of Rain World's story. Rhinestones is the Echo encountered in Undergrowth, which is already significant by itself. Rhinestones questions why the Ancients were so eager to find a way out of the cycle. They say that they didn't want to ascend, nor did they see a reason to. They understood that without negatives, positives aren't positives. They're just -ives. They then say an incredibly important line, that being, - "Why did they always search for an escape, as if we were imprisoned?" It's an amazing line because it highlights the fact that in reality, they were never truly trapped. They only saw themselves as being trapped. The irony in their views of the cycle is that they only saw it as a curse, and not as a blessing. An infinite amount of time, is an infinite amount of self-improvement. Which is an incredibly important part of self-ascension and achieving Nirvana. Nirvana is literally the truest form of self-acceptance, and the cycle would've been the perfect opportunity to achieve that. Nirvana in reality isn't some sort of physical heaven, but more of a mental state. And most of the Ancients couldn't see that, with only few exceptions like Rhinestones. They then go to describe existence and life as a "gift," which is amazing. Because they're entirely right about that. Regardless of what one believes, the opportunity to exist is a gift that many don't get, and some are unlucky to not have. What's important is that this is only really something many people realize when they're about to forsake that gift. That's the entire concept of the episode, "A View from Halfway Down." It's based on a real story of someone who survived jumping off a bridge, hence the title. According to an interview, it was only when they were falling that they saw their problems in a different light, not as insurmountable odds, but as much smaller things compared to the situation they found themselves in. Because death is generally a much bigger issue than most things, especially when you're faced by it. That's exactly why the fact that Rhinestones describes life as a "gift" is so important. They've truly realized that life is an opportunity that shouldn't be wasted. Which is the exact opposite many Ancients saw it as. They saw it as something they were trapped in, and not as something to be cherished. They only saw the negatives, but rarely the positives. And then Rhinestones says a great line. "This moment, right here! It is where we are meant to be." At first glance, it's arbitrary. They're just saying that they regret ascending, but that's exactly the thing. This line is essentially them saying that they would prefer the ups and downs of existence, over Ascension. They have, in essence, achieved their own form of Nirvana, having accepted that life is about suffering, but that that's exactly what makes the positives so much better. However, I skipped over the single most important line in the game. It's their second line, and they say, quote, - "Beauty continuing to bloom even in a place long forgotten." This is exactly why Undergrowth is the single best area in the game. It literally represents life itself. Because life is literally a cycle. Life blooms from death. And death gives to life. Undergrowth is literally a massive jungle growing from the dead civilization of the Ancients. An entire ecosystem of life growing from a civilization that basically hated loops. It's only Rhinestones, the final Echo we meet, who realizes this at the very end of the story. That's the tragic irony of the Ancients. They were so blinded by their hatred of life, that they never stopped to smell the roses. And Undergrowth has plenty of them. This is why Rhinestones is possibly my favourite character in any game. Because they aren't just a character. They represent the literal moral of the entire story of the game. Rain World is explicitly a game about suffering, from the story, to the gameplay. The player literally has to suffer through the difficulty of the game, to truly enjoy the game. That's why Rhinestones, and Pebbles and Moons' stories are so good. They are both stories built on suffering, and the acceptance of it. Both stories are founded on suffering, but both of the characters learn to push past it and grow. They learn to push their happiness past the suffering, and in turn, see existence in a different light. Pebbles learns that he doesn't have to suffer alone. Rhinestones learns that suffering is exactly why the happy moments are so cathartic. That's why I love Rhinestones and Pebbles so much as characters. They represent the fundamental concepts of the games they're in. What's amazing is that the entire moral is built on a nihilistic view, but ends up optimistic in the end. It isn't about accepting suffering, but learning to move past it and focus on the happy moments that come from it. That's why Rain World is literally the best suffering simulator. So in conclusion, Monk is the best scug. Thank you.
Yes, that one echo has such a profound message, they're definetly my favourite too. People are often focused on their struggles and challenges in life forgetting what a gift it truly is. People don't stop and pay attention to the ants in the dirt, the rustling of leaves, the bee pollinating a plant on their way to work, or when pre occupied by something else. When undergoing stressful activities like studying for exams or tests, we forget how vast and beautiful the universe that our existence really is and how our personal struggles seem so insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Life is full of challenges and hardship, but it is the lens, the way that you view and engage with it, that will determine how content you will be with it. After all, its this moment, that is truly the gift. It also shares a sort of enlightens the players can have too. To explore the world, enjoy the game for what it is, not to get focused or fixated on the objectives, once you learn to just enjoy the world for what it is, to explore rain world with no real goal, do you reach a level of enlightenment with it. Playing post game in rivulet, and saints campaign just feels different, and more free, like something suffocating or urgent has been lifted off of your chest. Its a great game.
I just finished my first Saint campaign, and coincidentally Rhinestones was the last Echo i found before reaching karma 10. It felt like such a poetic way of ending their path to enlightenment, with the only ancient/Echo in the game who didn't *want* to ascend, and was content being within the great cycle. Saint is making me feel all sorts of things tbh, their entire run was super emotional for me. 😂
Time for another retelling of "borderline Shakespearean real housewives of rain world" my favorite description of the writing of this game i have ever seen on the entirety of the internet. I know the lore by heart but ill watch every "the full lore of rain world because we said so" video i see with full enthusiasm!
No way! I recognize you from the original comment from the Affairs of Passing Gods video! And yes, that description still perfectly describes Five Pebbles/Moon's side of Rain World.
I don't think Iterators can die even with heavy damage. As we can see with FP, even with complete collapse caused by energy absence and super cancer, his consciousness and sapience still exists. Iterators are composed of flesh too, and all living things in Rain World is bound to the cycles, and the Iterators are built to withstand the cycles. The only things that could have effectively eliminated an iterator's full consciousness is either the Saint, the Void Sea finally chewing it's way towards their minds, or a nigh unfathomable amount of time for entropy to take effect.
I love how you talk about slugcats as if they *aren't* the SILLIEST creatures ever. I cannot take them seriously, no matter how high stakes their quests are.
they may have almost killed a god and left them to suffer for an incomprehensible amount of time, and jump started the heart of another god, but then someone called them ruffles, and why should i care about anything else?
The moment you realize that the Saint was an iterator’s successful experiment in finding an answer to the triple affirmative, it’s kind of a cathartic conclusion to the story. The Saint was a perfect ending to experience firsthand in the game.
I love the way you've created your own (beautiful, might I add) writing, while still riffing off the in-game dialogue, especially in the ending of the saint section! You've taken what we know and accented it, moving from simply each piece of knowledge in sequence to braiding them together, until you're left with what can only be described as a beautiful freeform poem. I'm very impressed. Loved the video.
Okay, so there’s *kind of* a big error in this video. Ascension is flat-out never actually described as cessation of existence anywhere in RW's lore. The idea that the Ancients were just suicidal and wanted to stop existing is a huge fanon misconception and this video unintentionally helps perpetuate that. Ascension, when it is rarely described, is described as being a state which is "beyond" the constraints and suffering of the cycles. It’s pretty vague but there's an entire rabbit hole of theories. But the idea that Ascension is this "final death" is a pretty surface level interpretation that doesn't have a lot backing it up especially when you consider the vanilla endings.
To be honest, Ascension is basically just Rain World's way of describing Nirvana, which makes sense with how 90% of the game is heavily inspired by Buddhism anyways.
I think the vanilla game's interpretation of ascension is more positive than downpour's. While the survivor's original ending is bittersweet, it was the "good" ending. Downpour offers an alternative choice; to embrace the cycle instead of struggling to move beyond it. I think this is best illustrated through the dialogue of Rhinestones beneath Shattered Glass- "Do you see the same as me? Beauty continuing to bloom in a place long forgotten. I did not have the will to depart, nor the desire. Why did they always search for an escape, as if we were imprisoned? What offering from the void could usurp the gift of life already given? This moment, right here! It is where we are meant to be."
Is it really worth to worry about whatever soul that might persist in the void sea (something acknowledged as eating away at the world gradually?) For all intents and purposes, the void sea is just a pit of acid that evaporates whatever enters it. (We're not going to talk about Saint in this sense because Saint actively breaks all the rules, and while we could include him it just says its a pit of acid* instead) Its cleanly referred as 'crossing out ones existence', which I think handily translates to stopping it. Lets not forget the only goal is to be away from the cycles, so its interpretation of what happens afterwards is very open and not really something we can pin down. What happened to Artificer if ceasing existence isn't the answer?
@@TheLordofSiIenceThis. When you realize that it really is as simple as the concept of ego annihilation and the acceptance of “void”, ascension as hinted at in Rainworld really is just nirvana. So yeah, OP is incorrect and no misunderstanding was perpetuated by this video and others.
@@networknomad5600 I think what OP was getting at is that most of the fandom misconstrues ego death and actual annihilation of sentience as the same thing, plus a lot of people really, really, want to believe the game's respawn system is canon. To make that work, every living thing in Rain World would have to be functionally immortal. That's where all the crazy multi-universe and time loop theories come from, and a whole ton of people just talk about those theories like they must be true even though they're headcanons. I think you're right though, ascension is probably Buddhist nirvana.
I always found iterators interesting, wanted to know more about their lore and how they saw the world. More how they worked in the game, and more about the world in general. Just this alone shows alot how iterators think and act in general, metaphors can be taken in a way that is rather helpful, and answers quite a few questions. I'd like to thank you for this. BUT PLEASE KEEP MY FAR FAR FROM SPIDER PEBBLES!
just stating my presence at the beginning of 2024. Rain world has been my favorite game for almost 2 years now and I could comment(as I did in many other videos) how much and why I love it, and it's interesting story. but I'll leave it for another day. just amazing work of art.
I think it kinda depends on who you are. For most creatures just continuing to live seems like the more appealing option but personally if I was stuck in a box all day with hardly any chances to interact with the outside world, ascension would seem a lot more appealing.
@@scootermcpeanuts6699There are only people who don’t appreciate what the gift of life is, and those who do appreciate it. Everyone should strive to appreciate the situation they must cope with, no matter how fucked. What else you gonna do, seethe in vain like Five Pebbles? Learn from these stories like Rainworld.
@@networknomad5600 Oh yeah for sure, thing is unlike every other creature in the game which just come back after death good as new, the iterators are machines that slowly rust and decay overtime. Life isn’t gonna be as appealing if it’s gradually getting worse and worse as it continues.
this is how i believe mass rarefaction cells work i tried to word it simply but also informatively hope you can understand so you create a vacuum, around that vacuum create an energy field (most likely electric due to the view of moons heart) inside the vacuum you have a point of highly purified void fluid (the vacuum is most likely so the void fluid doesnt affect any unwanted stuff), all you have to do is feed base elements into it and due to a broadcast in spearmaster's campaign the elements used are most likely among these Hydrocarbons Sulfur Silicon and Phosphates due to this stream of elements the void fluid somehow creates a sort of 4d equalization (probably due to erosion of the 4d space around these/in these elements) and there is a theory in our world that 4d disturbances/displacement causes gravity so if one say equalized this by eroding away this 4d space it would make sense why it would cause 0G to low G space and as for how it makes energy as says the law of conservation one cannot create or destroy energy/mass it must be converted these energy flux fields must capture the release of energy i mean picture this a 3d piece of wood in a 2d world when you burn this 3d wood it would last significantly longer then a 2d piece of wood now imagine this but for 4d space if you were to convert 3d mass into energy it would yield a good amount of energy but 4d space would have so much more mass per unit of 3d space this void fluid can in theory erode this space that cannot be touched otherwise and can tap into an energy source that for all we know could be thousands of times greater then anything we could achieve otherwise we already know that void fluid can erode other dimensions because moons speaks of the "karmic dimension" clearly referring to what still operates after we die and because we can erode this (hence breaking the cycle) whos to say it cant erode other higher dimensions
And how would the universe of the game change if a Strand of Straw produced a triple confirmation BEFORE global ascension? What would have happened if she and her city had simply disappeared from this reality? And the ancients would have seen it! I became curious about this, and now I want to develop an alternative universe on this issue!
I live that the godlike beings are only truly erased by the being the embodies true death. They say you die twice, once when you die, twice when you are mentioned for the last time. Loved this video, happy new year!
I actually haven’t played the game yet, I do intend to at some point, but this video has helped me find a reason to play it. It may sound counterintuitive, or that may be the way I think of it because it’s 1:00AM, as I’m spoiling parts of the game for myself, but since I rarely understand the lore for the games by myself, I don’t get to experience the sheer amount of effort that has been put into a game, such as Rain World, to craft it. This goes for everything, from short stories, to analog horror, to games, to literally everything that has an action or gameplay-written plot with lore not being front and centre, and even then I struggle. By watching this, it’s actually made me understand the beauty of Rain World and the iterators, and how everything in the game has meaning behind it. I know Rain World is a hard game, I feel that’s part of the reason why it’s so popular, and that’s what’s sorta thrown me off, as I’m not the best at hard games. When I try hard games, I never rage or punch something, I just lose interest, as I feel like I’ll never get better, even if I know I am. However, specific games I have found a work around for. Terraria, a very popular game made within a year or 2 of Minecraft, is not too hard of a game, unless you go for one of the harder difficulties, as many probably know. Terraria I originally had no interest for, as the bossfight were tough, my dodging skills were bad and my ability to use good items and weapons was really bad (I would always pick the worst of the bunch, but be completely clueless). This all changed when I played terraria, because my most trusted friend beat it. I wanted to please them, as I’m a person who mostly wants to help and please people to keep them happy. Over the next 220 hours, I slowly, but surely, completed terraria, going through the game and defeating many bosses, even getting the Zenith and obtaining 95/115 achievements in that same world. I felt happy with myself, able to complete a game which I thought was hard and grindy, and enjoyed it as well. For months after, I left it alone, but it still stood as a small trophy of mine that made me happy. After those months, the same trusted friend as before had his computer fixed (this is important for later), and wanted to do modded. Since I did my playthrough on pc, he wanted to do a multiplayer one as well. It would be simple, thorium, Qwerty, one piece and some QoL (Quality of Life) mods. Over time, we improved, got better loot, fought some bosses, and enjoyed our time on it. Previously, on a past run, he got up to a specific boss, Granite Elemental, and just couldn’t beat it. It was a very hard bossfight, one he couldn’t defeat even after many tries, and what made him give up. At one point, he had to go, same as always, and we were about 20 hours in with a good amount of progression into Pre-Hardmode. His computer broke, it wouldn’t be fixed for a long time. I was now without the world we had worked on, and had nothing to do. I commit myself to games until I get bored, and now I was fully into modded terraria. Since that happened, I quickly made a new world, new character, and made it somewhat similar to the previous world, including and discluding some mods here and there. I was committed to helping my friend with the boss he struggled on, as odd as that may sound. I quickly got through all the bosses, playing as a mage throughout my playthrough. I defeated boss after boss, EoC, KS, EoW, they were dying faster and faster. At some point I reached the point I was looking for. I was at the Granite Elemental. I didn’t make an arena to start, I left the room as is, and tested the waters. I died immediately. I knew some attacks, but didn’t know all. I can see why he quit. I continued, dying again and again, until I got a run which lasted 10 minutes, and it’s the one I won. I’ll start closing off from here as this is tenfold longer than it should be, and I know by now you just wanna stop reading, if you don’t want to give up reading for some reason. I quickly realised how I did this, and told him how to beat the boss. I felt happy, I was able to achieve something I was aiming for, but now what. I was with a world with good items, barely any progression in total, and a desire to continue. I continued, defeating the next boss, and the next, and the next, telling him how to defeat them, until I reached hardmode, which I decided not to spoil. I continued defeating every boss, even doing them in Expert and Master mode by using a Thorium item to do so. At some point, I had started defeating bosses which I never dreamed of ever defeated, like Betsy in master mode, Plantera in the same mode, and many more. At some point, I reached what I want to call the drop off point. The elementals. In normal mode, they’re fine, but everything else, they were death incarnate. It was the only boss in the entirety of every mod I had installed that I couldn’t defeat. A UA-camr would say they then defeated it after many attempts, but what I’ll say, is that I didn’t. I just gave up. I did do about 7 attempts with various methods and items, but nothing worked, their attacks were too fast and too high damage, so I decided to end it off there, building some stuff as a token of appreciation towards the world and what I achieved. I’m not gonna state in-depth on how my Calamity-Revengeance difficulty world is going with 50 mods active, like Fargo, Thorium, Stars Above and more, as I’ve just defeated the Calamitas Clone and almost every boss before that as well. But basically, the ACTUALLY SUMMARISE, by setting myself to a goal for completing a hard game, or maybe a task, I can push myself to do it. I never would have done terraria if it wasn’t for him, and I silently thank him for that, and for everything. I hope this video can help me convince myself to play this masterpiece of a game, after I do everything in OMORI though, since it’s another masterpiece of a game which has its difficult areas, but helps me think of myself, and makes me enjoy my time (best ending, personally, is the bad ending, and Spaceboy FTW). Thanks for reading, thanks to the creator of this video for making it, and I hope everyone enjoys everything they plan to do, or are doing right now. Good luck

Everyone trying to correct the same video with different conflicting theories. If we all play the same game and come out of it with different stories even after reading the wikis and what not, I think we just have to accept that major elements have purposely been left up to interpretation.
First, this isn't meant to be mean or anything, just a correction. It's not "eye-tor-ate-er". It's said just as it is spelled. Iterator. It-er-ator. IT like the word well, 'it'. ER, like error, ATOR, like gator. I don't mean to come off as nitpicky but listening to this (more then watching) I didn't understand what you were talking about in the intro until further in when you introduced them.
@@TheEvergarden And mine "The Affairs of Passing Gods: Rain World's Full Story" by Solemn Sunday. 4:00 in. As its also a programing term meaning to navigate a container, like lists... I've never herd it said like "eye-tor-ate-er". Another youtuber missaying it isn't evidence :P So counterargument countered. Again not meant to be mean or anything. Like that edge of annoyance of someone saying your name wrong lol. I often found it's due to them not knowing how they are properly said. Not because they 'want' to say it weirdly. Personally for this context I feel it better it was said proper then some made up way as the word is a real programing term, and relevant to the game. It is called an "iterator" because they are "iterating". Going through lists of data given to find a solution. Having been a software dev once also adds to my nictpick XD But that's me and my dumb brain.
the task of iterators was not to help the ancients ascend, for which they have found a safe way to do so (the guardians in the depths which don't let you through if you don't have karma 10) but to help every other being ascend, that goes for all fauna. This is a very common misconception even though it is explained in the first five pebbles monologue. All things said this video is still really good and informative for anyone that didn't know much about the lore of this game.
13:05 This is my favourite pearl. This pearl makes me feel like this world is real and it has a real history. The fact that you can read someone’s entire life, which was stored to preserve his memories is amazing and it gives us a way to look at the common ancient citizen living his life at the time.
I see you also pronounce Iterator correctly! damn, no gravitas behind "random gods" in your voice. Secluded instinct! secluded instinct that's me! someday the rain world voiced mod will come out...
"Caged in her frigid tomb, Looks to the Moon has long accepted her fate. A new Great Cycle will unfold. A cycle Iterators need not be a part of. "All their memories will fade. The Superstructures will crack and suffocate in frozen waters, never to breathe again. Wildlife will roam their husks, once brimming with purposed life, now bound once more to the chaotic beauty of nature’s whim. "The land will reclaim what it once lost, eons ago. "And the corpses of random gods will each, in turn, beget mountains."
Please look up the correct pronunciation of iterator. Dazzombies pronounces it in the way you do, so you likely got it from him, however you can find him mentioning in multiple videos as being mispronounced.
@@TheEvergarden and that is your old youtube account, it doesn't mean anything, you're still saying it wrong. If you just like to say it that way it's fine, but don't try and say it is a correct pronunciation when it's not

Pretty sure they succeeded with saint. But after finding a solution they realized death, not cycle death, actual death, is scary. Very scary.
Yeah.. But it's kinda contradict with the fact that they build more and more iterators.. I mean, the rain they caused also makes a lot of creatures suffer more and more and with the cycle those creatures will experience it again and again right?
I love watching lore videos recapping everything I already know, like genuinely
They then say an incredibly important line, that being,
- "Why did they always search for an escape, as if we were imprisoned?"
It's an amazing line because it highlights the fact that in reality, they were never truly trapped.
It's their second line, and they say, quote,
- "Beauty continuing to bloom even in a place long forgotten."
This is exactly why Undergrowth is the single best area in the game.
@@towhee3400 Same! I went in a large circle around the map, and ended up finishing my echos with him, then going to filtration!
Underrated comment. I love this explanation
"What offering from the void could usurp the gift of life already given" is genuinely one of my favorite quotes ever
And yes, that description still perfectly describes Five Pebbles/Moon's side of Rain World.
watching that ending… saint really just makes everyone go insane huh? also I’m pretty sure it was 16 slag reset keys
RAIN WORLD MENTIONED🗣️🔥🗣️🔥🌧️🌧️🌧️🐌🐱WHAT THE HELL IS AN UNREALISTIC ECOSYSTEM🗣️🔥
I love how you talk about slugcats as if they *aren't* the SILLIEST creatures ever. I cannot take them seriously, no matter how high stakes their quests are.
they may have almost killed a god and left them to suffer for an incomprehensible amount of time, and jump started the heart of another god, but then someone called them ruffles, and why should i care about anything else?
minor correction, the Hunter's neuron contained SIXTEEN slag reset keys, also, you called overseers observers.
The moment you realize that the Saint was an iterator’s successful experiment in finding an answer to the triple affirmative, it’s kind of a cathartic conclusion to the story. The Saint was a perfect ending to experience firsthand in the game.
I always figured Sliver of Straw created Saint, and he just took forever to get to Five Pebbles' territory.
bro.. I chuckled so hard at every sentenced uttered in the Gourmand section.
No body can help but roast Gourmand
Fr, that’s how special gourmand is
I love the way you've created your own (beautiful, might I add) writing, while still riffing off the in-game dialogue, especially in the ending of the saint section! You've taken what we know and accented it, moving from simply each piece of knowledge in sequence to braiding them together, until you're left with what can only be described as a beautiful freeform poem.
I'm very impressed. Loved the video.
You did a really good essay on Pebbles, I knew all that, but your editing is good and I hear emotions in your voice
Who the hell... ah, I see, glad you're still there!
I'm only 24 minutes in, and this is just marvelous. I wonder why it's not on the main channel...
happy surprise to see a Blargh video, he was one of the first to ever make RW lore videos :)
I think this is best illustrated through the dialogue of Rhinestones beneath Shattered Glass-
"Do you see the same as me? Beauty continuing to bloom in a place long forgotten.
I did not have the will to depart, nor the desire.
Why did they always search for an escape, as if we were imprisoned?
What offering from the void could usurp the gift of life already given?
This moment, right here!
It is where we are meant to be."
Is it really worth to worry about whatever soul that might persist in the void sea (something acknowledged as eating away at the world gradually?) For all intents and purposes, the void sea is just a pit of acid that evaporates whatever enters it. (We're not going to talk about Saint in this sense because Saint actively breaks all the rules, and while we could include him it just says its a pit of acid* instead)
Its cleanly referred as 'crossing out ones existence', which I think handily translates to stopping it.
I love moons voice. for some reason I like it even more when she's *suffering and pleading 5 pebbles to give her more water so she doesn't die*

are you sure you're not a sadist.
My brother in Christ, what? 😦
I love the title you chose for this video. "Five Pebbles Fell" just has such vibes, both in context and out of context
This was such a solid way to tell the lore in an almost book like fashion
just stating my presence at the beginning of 2024. Rain world has been my favorite game for almost 2 years now and I could comment(as I did in many other videos) how much and why I love it, and it's interesting story. but I'll leave it for another day. just amazing work of art.
Also, such a inspiration
Dude had me at “rainworld”
After all nothing like 1 hr video essays on rw 😀
Why did they always search for an escape, as if we were imprisoned?
What offering from the void could usurp the gift of life already given?
I think it kinda depends on who you are. For most creatures just continuing to live seems like the more appealing option but personally if I was stuck in a box all day with hardly any chances to interact with the outside world, ascension would seem a lot more appealing.

@@networknomad5600 Oh yeah for sure, thing is unlike every other creature in the game which just come back after death good as new, the iterators are machines that slowly rust and decay overtime. Life isn’t gonna be as appealing if it’s gradually getting worse and worse as it continues.

this is how i believe mass rarefaction cells work i tried to word it simply but also informatively hope you can understand
so you create a vacuum, around that vacuum create an energy field (most likely electric due to the view of moons heart) inside the vacuum you have a point of highly purified void fluid (the vacuum is most likely so the void fluid doesnt affect any unwanted stuff), all you have to do is feed base elements into it and due to a broadcast in spearmaster's campaign the elements used are most likely among these Hydrocarbons Sulfur Silicon and Phosphates due to this stream of elements the void fluid somehow creates a sort of 4d equalization (probably due to erosion of the 4d space around these/in these elements) and there is a theory in our world that 4d disturbances/displacement causes gravity so if one say equalized this by eroding away this 4d space it would make sense why it would cause 0G to low G space and as for how it makes energy as says the law of conservation one cannot create or destroy energy/mass it must be converted these energy flux fields must capture the release of energy i mean picture this a 3d piece of wood in a 2d world when you burn this 3d wood it would last significantly longer then a 2d piece of wood now imagine this but for 4d space if you were to convert 3d mass into energy it would yield a good amount of energy but 4d space would have so much more mass per unit of 3d space this void fluid can in theory erode this space that cannot be touched otherwise and can tap into an energy source that for all we know could be thousands of times greater then anything we could achieve otherwise we already know that void fluid can erode other dimensions because moons speaks of the "karmic dimension" clearly referring to what still operates after we die and because we can erode this (hence breaking the cycle) whos to say it cant erode other higher dimensions
Love the narration and retelling esp for a niche game like rainworld
Super underrated

HOLY SHIIIITTTT YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I HAVE BEEN FOR THIS
I actually haven’t played the game yet, I do intend to at some point, but this video has helped me find a reason to play it.
Good luck

the task of iterators was not to help the ancients ascend, for which they have found a safe way to do so (the guardians in the depths which don't let you through if you don't have karma 10) but to help every other being ascend, that goes for all fauna. This is a very common misconception even though it is explained in the first five pebbles monologue. All things said this video is still really good and informative for anyone that didn't know much about the lore of this game.
i like this video (:
So where the fuck did artis kids go????

This is my favourite pearl. This pearl makes me feel like this world is real and it has a real history. The fact that you can read someone’s entire life, which was stored to preserve his memories is amazing and it gives us a way to look at the common ancient citizen living his life at the time.
Slight correction: 5pebbles fell OFF.
Real
I see you also pronounce Iterator correctly!
damn, no gravitas behind "random gods" in your voice.

1:00:32 can someone spell what he said, I cant figure it out
"Caged in her frigid tomb, Looks to the Moon has long accepted her fate.

Ah! Behold my counterargument:

@@TheEvergarden and that is your old youtube account, it doesn't mean anything, you're still saying it wrong. If you just like to say it that way it's fine, but don't try and say it is a correct pronunciation when it's not
