Why Women Prefer Male Bosses

  • Studies show that when women have a preference, they would choose to have a male boss instead of a female boss. Participants in one study described their female bosses as “emotional,” “catty,” or “bitchy.” Where does this aversion to female bosses come from? And why do some women seem to undercut each other at work?

As a dude, I have seen this dynamic and older women tend to be extremely vindictive towards younger women. Like if I make an eye contact with a younger lady and we exchange a smile, the older lady will try to put her down in some ways.
Like its scary because I do not want her to get in trouble and its kind of heart breaking. I can tell you that this translates to dating and as men, we like dating younger women not because they are young but because they have a better kinder spirit and more compassionate.
It comes down to personality for most parts. The scary thing is, if left unchecked, it can infect the young lady and she ends up becoming the older angry woman which is horrible because the cycle continues.

The thing is, most guys want to just do their work and go about their lives. But for women, every setting is a social interaction. its hard for them to be in tunnel vision mode.
The older women will see that most men covet the younger ladies and enjoy their presence. This causes resentment with older ladies and they take it out on the younger women.

EVERY experience (with one exception) that I've had working for women or in a team comprised mostly of women has been an absolute, unmitigated disaster. The micromanaging, two-faced, backstabbing, catty, bitchy nastiness and bullying have been unprecedented. And the pettiness over stupid, nonsensical things! During a job search last year, as soon as a headhunter told me the manager was a woman, I told them NO WAY, I am not interested. I won't even waste my time. I've had a couple of male managers who were jerks, but by and large, all the men I worked for were pretty easy and straightforward to deal with. Do the work, do it well, deliver in a timely manner, ensure the stakeholders are satisfied and all is fine. NEVER had any issues. THAT is how it should be!

Where does this feeling come from? Reality and experience.
I'm a woman who openly admits I tend to prefer to work for male bosses. Why? Because nearly every female boss I've had proved the rule by bringing their personal/attitude problems to work and taking it out on subordinates. Even now, while working for a woman who likes me currently, it's frustrating how she treats my fellow employees. A few have quit as a result, the latest 2 may soon enough, and I'm considering it too. Because this shit gets OLD. And yet here it is occurring AGAIN. And still people wonder why some of us out here feel the way we do. Must be a man's fault, right? No. It's the fact that apparently a good number of women who rise to positions of authority have no business being in those positions. Why? Don't know but it impacts our lives, so sitting around theorizing about how somehow this is the patriarch's doing isn't actually helpful and won't change a thing. No man makes a woman bring her relationship (spouse, kids, etc.) problems into the workplace and then behave spitefully toward those who have no choice but sit there and take it if they intend to keep their job.
You know one reason I'm pretty certain is behind this trend? A lot of these women can't manage their home lives well, so they wield power at work instead. Over and over again this appears to be the case. But to acknowledge this out loud is to invite others to accuse us of having "internalized stereotypes and misogyny," even when we're women too! That's bullshit. Nothing more than gas-lighting.

If you feel so strongly that men in power can take advantage of powerless women then why don't you start your own company in entertainment run by women to prevent that from happening and starting a new paradigm. I think the answer is that it is not the environment and it is something rooted deeply within women that is the problem.

raj basra When you say that it's something deeper, you're absolutely right. The postmodern critical theory nonsense about men and women being identical in basically every way is just laughable from a scientific perspective. It's straight up science denial to claim that there are no inherent sex differences. Near enough every well-conducted, non-partisan piece of neuroscience research on the biology of sex, which is a heavily suppressed subject nowadays and has been for quite a while, finds significant differences in both structure and function (which is why we still need a balanced sex ratio in studies for ecological validity).
I can't back this statement up _entirely_ with evidence I have available to to me right now but I'm a neuroscientist myself and I would go so far as to hypothesise that women are simply given to innate characteristics that make them largely unsuitable for the modern corporate context and structure, especially as you go higher up that structure and into management roles. And that's without going into the practical side and the absolute economic misery that doubling the workforce sans adequately proportionate job creation has caused.

I noticed the woman I worked with preferred dealing with male managers because they found them easier to manipulate. For example, they wore more make up and less clothes before going into meetings with male managers and overtly flirted with them during the meetings. Sometimes they would even suggest the meeting be held over lunch to make it seem more like a date than a business meeting. Obviously none of these tricks worked on female managers.

This is true. And male bosses treat women that don't suck up to them quite badly or get frustrated because they get used to the manipulation. My best bosses have been women actually. They understand women and edit out the women that are in to manipulate favors or sleep their way to the top. Not all women do but way too many out there put themselves to this. My worst bosses have been men so far, and I think it's because I'm young and not unfortunate looking. I have attracted unwanted and 100% unwarranted sexual attention. This has led to backstabbing and snipping from older female co-workers and grumpy older male coworkers looking to sugar me up. It's happened to me thrice and I have since only chosen to work in places where most people are within my age range. So much more pleasant and no hostility or sexualization.

One of the big secrets that needs to be talked about but no one brings up is in certain work environments, the men do end up doing more work because the women are incapable of doing tasks like the men. For example, even at fast food restaurants like McDonalds the men take out the trash, clean the kitchen/tables, take orders and make the food but the women are never told to take out trash or to clean the oven because almost all of them do not have the strength to pick up the trash bag and dump it in the garbage can or have the desire to clean an oven lathered in grease.

Cory Sartin That's fucking outrageous, mate. Yet sadly entirely believable, even though you're a stranger on the internet. It's the same in all critical fields these days.
Seriously, guys, if you're flying anywhere and you know in advance somehow that your pilot is going to be a woman, don't get on the plane. I know a couple of lads in the industry and even though women make up a tiny percentage of all pilots, every single one of the worst stories I've heard involved a female pilot.
If you're unlucky enough to get a female pilot, you may well have, without your knowledge, a female copilot too, and that's just not worth the risk. At one point, one of my mates did teach me how to find out who your pilot was going to be before far in advance but the people in charge stopped it because caring about your family's safety more than the creation of the multi-cult liberal utopia is apparently unacceptable discrimination.
I'd hypothesise that the problem in that profession in particular is that the job profile is almost diametrically opposed to a woman's strengths. A pilot needs spatial awareness and coordination (it shouldn't even be controversial to state that men dominate these attributes), level-headedness, the ability to remain calm under pressure, stress resilience and excellent executive cognitive functioning.
This neoliberal/postmodernist/liberalist/cultural Marxist/SJWish/politically correct/reverse discriminatory/whatever the hell else you want to call it bullshit has reached the stage where we're having to deliberately endanger innocent people's lives in safety-critical systems just to maintain the great egalitarian lie. It's gone much, much, much too far now. We need to turn back hard and fast because, compared to how far this thing can potentially go, we ain't seen nothing yet.
Best of luck with your retirement, lad.

I have done a project under one of my female professors and worked under a female boss. By far the worst people to work under are women. They do not care about your growth, do not care about the productivity or the company. All they care about is how well you substantiate their opinions and how well you are able to toil away as their slave.
In fact, I once remember when my female boss asked me to manually compare 2 excel lists and point out the differences. I did it using a function in excel which my boss was not very happy with (because she hates to admit that I knew something that she didnt). She started telling me how the function was not accurate and why there is a reason it is to be done manually. There was a subtle hint of threat in her politeness which I understood at once. Something which I had never faced with a male boss or professor.
Infact, the best way to succeed with a female boss is to treat her like a supreme leader of a totalitarian regime. Just try it out and see how much she ends up loving you.

Ironically, I will say as a guy that my freshman year of college, one of if not THE best professor was a younger lady. She genuinely cared about student development and helping folks like me grasp stuff, unlike a couple of lazy or nasty male professors I suffered under (one gave me a zero on a project because I missed class for being sick, never mind I reached out to him). Some of the female students in the classes though were very snobby or obnoxious, and acted like jerks. Honestly, I have come to the conclusion that it is all about ATTITUDE, and sadly we raise many women to be spoiled and be given special treatment .I can always tell when a gal was raised to show respect and when one grew up a spoiled brat. If our society was a fair meritocracy and disciplined folks equally, I think we'd see quite different results. To be constantly given special treatment, never be stood up to, and never develop character is what makes a tyrant.

The bad thing I noticed though is that with female boss, there is a sense of "cattiness" where she would tried to "differentiate" herself as better than other females in the office just because she is high rank than them. I agreed with the beginning of the video, but this isn't my first rodeo. I was wondering would this video lead to blaming men/patriarchy. I am a guy and my personal experience of female bosses has been largely negative. I have had an intricate insight into the way women work at a senior level as some of my friends are at that stage, and one is now managing me. She tells me how she is playing her cards to get rid of other staff and her tactics are what I would call unethical and dishonourable. Also, she will hold grudges and not let them go, much like a girlfriend will never forget her man forgot her birthday, and she will act vindictively. And there is a large element that to me seems illogical and based on emotion and not fact to the point she will enforce something based on a made up 'fact' even if it is to the detriment of the staff's effectiveness and ability to perform.
When I have questioned her about why she wastes energy trying to remove productive staff that she does not like, I myself start to receive emotional blackmail and negative feedback.
There have been many like her in my time as a professional but it has taken me years of experience to partially put together the jigsaw of the female mind and petty behaviour that I would personally never stoop to.

Studies also show that the more power or social status you give to a female, the more she is prone to being a bully.
Buddhist figured this out centuries ago; hence to why they don't allow any women to lead.
(mind you I'm sure not all women are like this, I know there's no unicorn, however there are the exception).
My Gosh, women are full of excuses:
    1) I'm a male who was aspired by a strong blunt female to become a PM. She was honestly the most motivating boss I've had.
    2) None of these problems were in the workplace before. You want to join our ranks in the workforce, then you have to play the game that's been laid out for millenniums now. Sure will adapt a bit as we all do, however we're not going to change all the rules so you leave men behind.
    3) Quit blaming men for all your demise.
    4) Be accountable; if you want the perks, you have to take responsibility. Especially when things go downhill, you'll get much more appreciation from your fellow workers for doing so.
    5) Learn to respect men as an equal. We are not your enemy, we are your partners, we're all in this together. So we all need to get along to get through this.
    6) Don't cry wolf too much; (this goes for men as well), you don't want to be the whiner, you won't last much longer.
    7) Be appreciative of what your bosses do for you, they don't have the easiest job, it's mentally exhausting for the majority of them.

Men are finally starting to realize that this is true, otherwise there wouldn't be articles in financial news stating that women are not getting hired, nor mentored as frequently as before. Company parties are getting cancelled, men don't have company lunches with women any more, Mike Pence (the former VP) wouldn't have lunch with a female because who knows what some woman could say, and there's more. • @jt4369
      @jt4369 2 роки тому

@@eggegg8181 I’m a defense lawyer. I just have to add my two cents.
I’ve worked on at least two dozen DV restraining orders/employment sexual harassment matters in the time I’ve been a lawyer. I’ve worked on HUnDREDS of dependency and foster cases involving allegations of sexual abuse. Here are my observations.
In a family, dating or employment love triangle context, it’s been my observation that at least 75-80 percent of the cases I’ve personally dealt with were either bald faced lies that were probably false, or were gigantic embellishments on the accuser’s part. I had a case where the girl claimed that the defendant assaulted her in a parking lot on a particular day at a particular date in California. Impossible: he was visiting his grad school buddy in New Zealand at that time. In deposition, she struggled to reconcile all of this when presented images of his social media and seven people who stepped forward to proffer eye-witness testimony. The court didn’t punish her for perjury so good for her.
Others have been giant exaggerations of the truth. A security camera in another case we had involved a claim that a man assaulted his co-worker. Reviewing the security tapes revealed that actually SHE bent on to kiss him on the cheek, but she he moved away from the table pointing at his ring finger, she apparently went to HR and tried to get him fired claiming sexual misconduct. They were both placed on leave as far as I remember.
Not all women are like this, sure. But enough women are. And what even more tragic is that false accusations generally tend to be by women who target “nice guys.” I’ve not seen a single case of a woman who even wanted to claim abuse by a guy who was clearly an alcoholic and was frequently on drugs. The women who are with those men almost seem to want to stay in abusive relationships.
So, sorry-my skepticism remains. When men get comfortable with another person romantically, they get complacent and lazy: this is why divorces get triggered. But when that happens, women get bored, and then that can start triggering something vicious. I’ve seen it again and again and again in family law.
Men and women are NOT the same. We’re clearly different.

She didn’t know how to say no to clients (causing massive amounts of overtime for the team to complete what she’d promised) or manage upwards to HQ (so we got no help), so within 6 months half the team had quit including myself, and we’d lost our best clients. Micromanagement to an absurd degree, over-compensation for massive insecurity, an undying belief that once she achieves a certain position she's infallible, intolerant of opposing points of view, masterful at petty retribution, and an open and defiant preference for women in hiring practices -- these were characteristics of my last female boss, and even on the day I submitted my resignation notice, she completely ignored the answer I gave when she cluelessly asked me why I was leaving.

Wouldn't it make a lot more sense that once any person of any gender is given a lot of power over a group of people, that they will naturally try to push around anyone else that they see as either a liability or a threat to that power? (I'm not condoning it, in fact I down right hate it, but it has been observed in countless psychological studies.) It just seems incredibly contrived to take this idea of dismissing any kind of personal responsibility for women in a position of power. It also seems strange that your trying to argue that these "bitchy queen bee's" are somehow "persecuted" and being made to do what they're doing, because they're all somehow "internalising the gender stereotype", and so completely innocent of any abuse of power they may carry out. No matter who you are, what ethnicity you are, or what gender you are, everyone should be held accountable for their actions with NO exceptions. That is true equality.
PS: Just to clarify to anyone wondering, I'm not one of those worthless anti-feminists, but I'm not supportive of those nonsensical feminazis. I support the level headed and openminded feminists, who actually understand what they're talking about and are only asking for true social equality.

In some instances, this is really the historical pattern, like sentences for similar criminal charges. But women being bosses is something more "new".

    • @petitio_principii
      @petitio_principii 6 років тому +5

I think everything plays a role. Similar things of "internalized prejudice" are found even with black people, in empirical tests. I didn't have much the interpretation that the bitchy behavior is then "excused", because "she's also a victim", though. Other possible factor may be that female bosses will even treat female employees in a more _egalitarian_ fashion, whereas perhaps male bosses would be inclined to cut them some slack in order to not be perceived as sexist.
But male bosses can possibly even be more malleable, more susceptible to women's requests in a nearly "biological" way, either in some sort of unconscious behavior of either "courtship" or provider, whereas female bosses don't have these brain buttons to be triggered, or are more conscious of not creating the appearance of unfairly favoring women, possibly even overcompensating.
I'm not sure the "we should make it easier for women" is a good solution, if by "easier" it's meant "easier than for a man". I think it will only reinforce the view of "tokenism", of women/minorities being put there just in the name of diversity, favored over others with higher competence.

Petitio Principii because of personal experiences, I am actually kind of permanently scared to talk to girls. One time a girl accused me of sexual harassment without any evidence, and I was punished and shamed until I graduated from middle school. She did it because her friends started to like me better than her herself. I think this shows an overpowered aspect of women.

True social equality is what you see when a woman is being beaten senseless while men walk right on by not intervening. Its called they asked for it when they got into the relationship and didnt find an out. Not condoning the right wing psychopaths and definitely not condoning the abusers out there, but... Wait the but just changed my entire stance. Hmm reading your comment shows me just how much of a leftist you actually are.

I''m White , Male,Hetero stock broker. I wanted to be a stock broker all my life and followed my passion. Females "over act" or try to act like male manager but, they don't bother me. I am top producer of 176 other brokers, the female female brokers in bottom 25%. But, I also work 70 hour weeks and am planning to retire at 45-50. Men, if you are healthy and can retire at 45 with financial security the 20-25 girls will be stalking you....your appearance does not matter!

She states that women aren't as willing to help other women if they think they are competing with them. Isn't this the same mentality for men? So...what's the problem? She even asks, "So, how do we fix it?" She answers with, "Make it easier for women to get to the top." This isn't meritocracy and sounds like a recipe for disaster. As an employee, I'd now resent them since I'm now thinking they never actually earned the position. This isn't equality to let women at the front of the line. What women are experiencing now is equality. The equality of knowing that you have to compete with every other person on the team. Welcome to the men's game that you so desperately wanted to join. It's a bloodbath and ugly as all f***.

You're misunderstanding what she's saying. She's not saying help unqualified women get to the top over more qualified men. She's saying help women who are highly qualified and in many cases more qualified than their male counterparts, who have been held back, overlooked, underpaid and met with glass ceilings for years, get what they have earned and also get to where they rightfully should be. Men have forever been elevating other men to the top not based on merit but based on their good-ole-boy network and their boy's club mentality that only men can be leaders. But as soon as women (and also minorities) decide they want to compete these same men are all of a sudden concerned with meritocracy. Please.

I'm a male, a black male. This woman destroyed my life. Daily for 2 years I was getting abuse by my boss who happened to be a woman. Came to the point where I lost the love of my life because the abuse fucked my head up. I was only 20.Anyway when I lost my love that woman turned soft. My last day in that company I made a mistake, and the my future relationship told her (out of frustration). That boss started screaming and abusing me. So I threw the clipboard at her. When I lost the love of my life that woman became nice. If that was to happen again I would just beat her up fo r what came out of her mouth.

I’m such a girls girl. I love to see women win but I work in a male dominated industry and I feel like my boss treats the men in my role much much better. It sucks, because I like her a lot but she will go over and beyond for them but I’m lucky to even get credit for what I earned. It’s strange.

Never had a male boss I couldn't get along with somehow even when I disliked them. With female managers it's a whole different story.
Too many are just unprofessional, petty, insecure, jealous, controlling bullies especially towards other women. Micromanaging but ignoring important issues, playing favorites and not respecting boundaries is just way too common. Gossiping about subordinates, backstabbing and being down right nasty...
I don't know anyone who prefers working for a lady boss over a male manager.
The majorty of women is just incapable of leading so how about stop putting them in these positions when they are incompetent and just support the few who are really able to lead. That would make everyone happy.
