Ur Dragon has to be my favorite commander. Also love that he is like 70-75% the cost of the deck. Scion is cheaper if people want a fun dragon tribal deck
@@AK_MediazHe'll run ya about $70 at the current market price and that's the pre-con Ur Dragon. Secret Lair printing costs around $80 at its current market value.

To anyone who want's this commander with Miirym in the 99 I would advise some caution. A while ago, I was playing with some friends and one of them was playing Ur Dragon. We had managed to keep chopping his deck in knees most of the time, except he got out Miirym and then raised a clone dragon army (including Ur Dragon). It seemed game over until he when to swing out, and Ur Dragon's and Clone Ur Dragon's attack trigger went off, which he proceeded to deck himself out with. So in hindsight, it is an amazing combination but don't forget to pay attention to all of your cards' effects.

I absolutely love this Mitch. When I first got into Commander exactly a year ago, I enjoyed your content for the budget stuff! I had always hoped you would do Ur Dragon because I wanted to play budget Dragon Tribal, but I ended up just building it anyways as my first diy (my first precon was Firkraag!). Today my Ur Dragon deck has a near 1.5k value, as I saved some of my paychecks each week to buy 'spensive lizards, fetch lands, and pricier prints. Now I'm saving for the dual lands. It was really cool to see you do budget Ur. Almost exactly 1 year after
I'd be a little hesitant to save up for dual lands. 90% of games their effect won't matter, and in the 10% that they would the shock lands do the exact same for a tiny downside *sometimes*. Not gonna tell you not to buy whatever cards you want, but the different in price between a steam vents and a volcanic island is like 900 dollars while the only difference between the two of them would cost you the game maybe one single time over a100 games played. If you can fit 2 games of your Ur Dragon in a week that means that once a year the 900 dollar difference might make the game for you - and 1 out of 100 is being generous as that 2 on the shock effect will almost never matter and you don't even need to use it every game. Plus it'd have to be a game where searching for an island/mountain actually mattered as opposed to just having a different multi colored mana source in its slot. Again, not telling you what to get but I think that the price to effect ratio on the dual lands is so egregiously disproportionate that I would caution anybody from picking them up. If you played 200 games of commander with those lands in it, then you'd be spending nearly $5 per game from now on on an effect that would almost never matter.
I just built an Ur-Dragon deck for casual groups :) super fun! I think your options are great for budget decks, though there are some better options of course. The double strike is kind of a "win more" vs. more utility or EtB card advantage options out there.
“I’ll send 6 dragons your way - and kill your army!” If you’re untapping and swinging with 6 dragons, your opponent is dead which also kills your opponent’s army.
Ohhh, My favorite Tribe (and deck of my 45). I switched my Ur into the Deck and run Jegantha as the commander. OG Jodah, Morophon, every tribe reducer.. Sure it fun.
I think haste enablers are the most important thing for dragon decks. You basically never want to tap out to play a dragon on your turn and not have it attack immediately. But you shouldn't just play anything that gives haste only, there are plenty of cards that serve double duty (Carnelian Orb of Dragonkind = manarock + haste, Lightning Greaves = haste & protection, Rhythm of the Wild = haste & uncounterable, Temur Ascendancy = haste & draw, every Dragon that grants others Dragons haste, and also lands that grant haste, Slayer's Stronghold, Hanweir Battlements, Hall of the Banditlord = haste & being a land. Also: If you haven't played Dromoka with even "just" one or two other Dragons out, you're likely to underestimate how quickily it gets out of control. "Bolster 2" just doesn't sound like much but if your opponents don't immediately kill Dromoka it just gets out of hand in a hurry because it's basically +2 power per dragon every turn.
i really like Glittering Stockpile even in a 5 color deck like this while it only normally taps it for red when u sacrifice it later on it can be any one color

I tried this deck against other low power decks and I was underwhelmed by distant melody. Is there something more efficient or am I just playing it wrong? When I have so many dragons out that this card would be worth it, I already won the game and have plenty mana for other spells. For now I changed it for Stroke of genius which doesn't seem so much of a win more card and is useful even without dragons on board - and it has instand speed. Has anybody an idea for a better suited draw spell? Another idea was treasure cruise or dig through time, but I think I won't get the grave full quick enough to use it early enough. Also I changed Crush Contraband for Lightning greaves. I think the haste and protection is very important for the dragons as they all are very easy targets because one dragon is most of the times the only thing I could play during one turn. Has anybody a better idea what to take out instead of crush contraband? I feel like the deck is now mure vulnerable to artifacts and enchantments as there is only one other out left as far as I see it (austere command). And I switched Harrow out for Kodamas reach. I think a card that needs one of my lands to be sacrificed as a cost brings the very real risk with it that my opponent just counterspells it which sets me back a whole turn and basically can end the game right than an there because the dragon deck is already pretty slow. Kodamas reach seems so much better to me because it also guarantees my land drop for the turn. Isn't Edge of autumn just a strictly worse farseek? I don't see myself wanting to sacrifice a single land for the card draw before I have like 15 lands because that hurts for the rest of the game. And if I draw on turn 5 it's a dead card for at least 10 more turns. Farseek may not provide the card draw but on turn 2 it's awesome and later it still is useful. But maybe I'm missing something here. The last thing I changed is that I took out crucible of the spirit dragon and put in fabled passage to hit all the 5 colours more reliably. It really does not feel good when the colourless mana is totally useless because I'm missing another colour to get in the game. The tap lands in this deck are pretty slow as well but at least they make it easy to hit the necessary colours. I'd love to also add a sol ring and maybe an arcane signet, but I don't know what to take out for it. Maybe someone has some ideas for this as well? But thanks for the video, it may not sound like it, but I'm having very much fun with the cards :)
I really want the ur dragon but I can’t find it anywhere online that sells the commander deck! I have grave danger which is a really good deck for beginners. You can win if you get lucky, especially with the commanders ability to cast any zombie creature from the graveyard So if you’re looking for a commander deck but you can’t find the ur dragon then I’d suggest grave danger as a good beginner
Lol. Most of the dragons he put up there i have and use in either of my two dragon decks. I don't have an Ur Dragon deck, but i have a deck with Ur Dragon as apart of my 99. My commander is Sisay.
oh good. friend of mine is trying to build THIS deck profile but swapping out ur dragon for Tiamat. Do you think that is doable? Any advice regardless?
@@dudemetslagroom8065 honestly my deck was a lot more expensive than his. But my biggest advice is lands if you’re gonna blow money on anything, triomes are the best! I did and it pretty much prevented me being mana fucked. Because with Tiamat you don’t really care about getting creatures in hand, as you can just use her to bring out whatever you want. So honestly just focusing on making you’re ramp and mana curve good enough to afford Tiamat asap is the best option. I can link my deck tho. I use ur dragon for it now but it’s pretty much the same deck
I should also mention that a couple dragons in there while really good are not needed. There are so many budget dragons out there that you don’t need to do what I did and blow a bunch of money on crazy dragons to do good
@@thetime-wornspire9095 Oh thx. I mean my friend already ordered the deck by now (almost a copy of this one wwith a few alterations and a couple more "expensive" (like 5 bucks or something) dragons. But yer always welcome to link the deck so i can see if there's any cool ideas or something
Say my friend is trying to build this exact same deck but wwith Tiamat as the commander instead (cuzz Ur dragon is to expensive for them). Is that a good idea? Or should he lower the cmc's of those dragons?
I have ur-dragon as my main deck. My favorite way to knock someone out is cheating ur out for a turn with hellkite courser then using ur’s attack to cheat out either fiery emancipation or (more recently) city on fire.
Dragon's Arch looks enticing at first but it clashes with Ur-Dragon. 1. It doesn't help you cast your commander since he's not in your hand. 2. You're spending 5+2 mana to cast a dragon when you could just... cast a dragon after ramping turn 2+3. Ramp on turn 2+3 = 6-7 mana turn 4 in combination with emmience = any 7-8 cost dragon. Only if you miss a landrop or ramp only once, do you get to play "only" a 6 cost dragon on turn 4. 3. It doesn't let you cast mono-colored dragons, especially some important red ones. 4. Even IF you wanted to play a 5 mana "ramp"-card: a card like Gilded Lotus is basically faster (pay 5, but immediatly lets you tap for 3 so you can cast something else, like removal or a haste enabler) and helps you play your commander and also just generally non-creature spells. 5. It clashes with every other card that lets you cast your dragons cheaper (e.g. Dragonspeaker Shaman) So yeah, I still think it can be a decent card but just not in an actual dragon deck and especially not one that has Ur-Dragon as its commander.
Nice video, even though I'm watching it about 9 months later. One thing I do not like is Wayfarer's Bauble in a green deck. That card is horrible in a green deck...3 mana for a basic land that comes into play tapped? Might be ok in non-green decks.
Low effort here... but given the commander has dropped in price, I bet this deck is around $50 now... haven't checked if other spells have spiked in price since though
IDK if you know about the guy that got sent a box of MOM: Aftermath, but a bunch of crazy stuff happened after Wizards accidentally sent them the wrong set box. They sent the Pinkerton's after @oldschoolmtg for THEIR mistake, since they unboxed it online and spoiled the set.
You're playing commander. 1. Unless it's a 1v1 commander game have fun ruining one player with your 1 for 1 card plays that don't advance your own boardstate and get wrecked by other players. 2. Things like Rhythm of the Wild, Cavern of Souls and Wild Summoning exist. People are aware that counterspells exist and can build accordingly if someone in their group plays them a lot. 3. Unless you're playing cEDH, how about trying to let everyone have fun instead of gloating "haha so much mana and I countered it!"...?
@@paulszki oh good thing we got the rules nazi here. Especially rules that dont exist. Cards that expensive ruin the game. You're going to let it hit the board? Also YOU dont get to tell me how to play the game. I play the cards I have. That's it, call wizards and tell them to recall all the cards that you dont like. There are a million ways to get around it. So why cry about it?
@@JulioGarcia-pj8rq Nothing I said has anything to to with being a rules nazi. Maybe read up on what that actually means. You're just dismissing an entire deck archetype, basically implying "it sucks" because you can ... counter stuff? Yeah, people are aware of counterspells in magic and their ability to counter huge and expensive spells while costing very little mana. Yet somehow the Commander Format is full of decks with mana-intensive Spells. That has exactly the same energy as "It dies to removal." It's an age old argument that always was and still is... incredibly dumb. So yeah, you're wrong. You don't win commander games by "just countering everything" unless you have an actual combo/hard-lock going. And again, even if you weren't wrong, it's just the infantile smugness of "I'm waiting with my counterspell" that is just the right amount of cringe. 👌 It's not about disliking counterspells. I myself play Mana Drain, Swan Song etc. in my decks. But I'm not acting like that somehow magically is an auto-win in a 4 player match with one or more of my opponents playing "ramp into big spells". You sound like you've played the game for like a couple years and decided blue is the smartest color and "dragons are dumb hehe. They'll be so surprised when I counter them.". 🤡
Isn't Tiamat objectively better!? She is a Dragon tutor. So you end up saving space in your deck for card draw and can more focus on ramp, board protection and other key cards rather than card draw. All in all, I atleast believe Tiamat is more powerful than Ur-Dragon since you only need to drop her once to get your board winning peices. Rather than Ur dragon, which needs to put together a bunch of variables to make it happen. I just think the 1cmc cost reduction vs Tiamat's tutor are not even comparable
Did i miss it or no Ancient dragons or Ziatora? With at least ancient copper and Ziatora your are almost invincible. Especially with the Earthquake dragon and Ziatora you can just deal ten damage a turn for 1 mana then bring it back next turn. Ancient Copper just makes playing all your dragons so easy. Also come on. No Scion of Draco. That is just free bs all around. 2 mana for utter dragon chaos.

I'm currently just debating on buying a terror of the peaks rn.
The entire concept of Emminance annoys me. Effects that are permanent, one-sided, and can't be directly interacted with in a reasonable way feel like bad design.
That’s why it’s not an incredibly powerful effect plus his cmc is so high to balance it out. This commander isn’t very strong generally if people are losing to him consistently I recommend checking your deck and making sure it has a balance of removal or counter along with its strategy
If you show the fun cards first, rather than the garbage ramp and mediocre cards, more people would stick around during the videos. Personally, I’d rather not watch than sit through the same ramp spells every time.

You can win if you get lucky, especially with the commanders ability to cast any zombie creature from the graveyard
So if you’re looking for a commander deck but you can’t find the ur dragon then I’d suggest grave danger as a good beginner
If urdragon is omega level then what level is scion since it’s the stronger commander of the 2
Lol. Most of the dragons he put up there i have and use in either of my two dragon decks. I don't have an Ur Dragon deck, but i have a deck with Ur Dragon as apart of my 99. My commander is Sisay.
Hey Very good Deck, but you forget Dragon arch, belbes Portal or quicksilver amulett
Anyone got a way to paste this deck in manabox?
I Run a Tiamat deck that’s scarily similar lol. Love dragon deck they are so much fun.
oh good. friend of mine is trying to build THIS deck profile but swapping out ur dragon for Tiamat.
Isn’t the ur dragon getting a reprint soon ?
My favorite dragon commander is morophon the boundless .
Say my friend is trying to build this exact same deck but wwith Tiamat as the commander instead (cuzz Ur dragon is to expensive for them). Is that a good idea? Or should he lower the cmc's of those dragons?
tiamat is only worth in combo decks as commander
@@lorenzobonaretti2887 I mean...i get what you mean but that's not all THAT important to us
I have ur-dragon as my main deck. My favorite way to knock someone out is cheating ur out for a turn with hellkite courser then using ur’s attack to cheat out either fiery emancipation or (more recently) city on fire.
What about dragon’s arch for cost reduction?
Dragonspeaker Shaman)
So yeah, I still think it can be a decent card but just not in an actual dragon deck and especially not one that has Ur-Dragon as its commander.
What's the power level of this deck?
Well this is refreshing
Thank goodness The Ur Dragon is now down to about $21.
I have a Tiamat commander deck almost all the same cards lol I think I'm gonna switch commanders
I can't understand when you read cards.
Nice video, even though I'm watching it about 9 months later. One thing I do not like is Wayfarer's Bauble in a green deck. That card is horrible in a green deck...3 mana for a basic land that comes into play tapped? Might be ok in non-green decks.
Help your oppenents too. Blast furnace hellkite 😂
The big version is cooler, and 1/3 the cost? Sign me up.
Now that masters is coming out that version (masters) about half price, I’ve seen it for 25-30 and it’ll probably keep going down
Proxy for the win
MY BOY!!!
buy the deck & prox the general 🤟
Wait for Commander Masters to be released... The Ur-Dragon will drop significantly in price
My dad bought me an ur dragon for my commander deck.
Lol i got one in a pack. I dont really want to make a deck for it tho.
Just wait till August ur dragon should be cheaper by then
2:54 First up, of course!
Low effort here... but given the commander has dropped in price, I bet this deck is around $50 now... haven't checked if other spells have spiked in price since though
Alot of not dragons in a tribe dragon deck
Nah, I think I'll stick to my clam tribal deck
IDK if you know about the guy that got sent a box of MOM: Aftermath, but a bunch of crazy stuff happened after Wizards accidentally sent them the wrong set box.
They sent the Pinkerton's after @oldschoolmtg for THEIR mistake, since they unboxed it online and spoiled the set.
Break the bank when?!
That is a lot of mana. I'm waiting with my counter spell.
It's not about disliking counterspells.
Feels like you're kinda late on this one lol
*FLAMPLE*
Isn't Tiamat objectively better!? She is a Dragon tutor. So you end up saving space in your deck for card draw and can more focus on ramp, board protection and other key cards rather than card draw.
All in all, I atleast believe Tiamat is more powerful than Ur-Dragon since you only need to drop her once to get your board winning peices. Rather than Ur dragon, which needs to put together a bunch of variables to make it happen. I just think the 1cmc cost reduction vs Tiamat's tutor are not even comparable
Rivaz of the claw is not a dragon :c
Did i miss it or no Ancient dragons or Ziatora? With at least ancient copper and Ziatora your are almost invincible. Especially with the Earthquake dragon and Ziatora you can just deal ten damage a turn for 1 mana then bring it back next turn. Ancient Copper just makes playing all your dragons so easy. Also come on. No Scion of Draco. That is just free bs all around. 2 mana for utter dragon chaos.
It’s a budget deck and Ancient Dragons are not budget cards. Almost all the cards here are under a dollar.
@@LordChromeGaming you know what. That's absolutely fair lol.
@@iamshawmussargentbelieve me, I was look at some Ancients Yesturday. I wish I had 200 to drop on all of them lol but I gotta be responsible right now lol
@@LordChromeGaming I know. I was just lucky because I pulled the ancient copper off set booster. I have a pretty solid dragon tribal with both tiamat and urdragon. I just interchange them and a couple other cards to pull it off. Keep them in the same deck box with my billion dragon and treasure tokens. I'm currently just debating on buying a terror of the peaks rn.
The entire concept of Emminance annoys me. Effects that are permanent, one-sided, and can't be directly interacted with in a reasonable way feel like bad design.
Party pooper
true, but id argue wizards is doing a decent job on adding more of these effects to balance out the brokeness
What a cry baby 😂😂😂
That’s why it’s not an incredibly powerful effect plus his cmc is so high to balance it out. This commander isn’t very strong generally if people are losing to him consistently I recommend checking your deck and making sure it has a balance of removal or counter along with its strategy
dont buy the ur-dragon yet it is getting reprinted by end of the year
ur dragon? more like ur mom
RIVAZ OF THE CLAW IS NOT A DRAGON
it’s crazy how inaccurate your pricing is on every video.
A year old video lol
bro prices fluctuate, this isnt a closed market and sets are constantly reprinting cards and introducing new ones which may influence demand.
If you show the fun cards first, rather than the garbage ramp and mediocre cards, more people would stick around during the videos. Personally, I’d rather not watch than sit through the same ramp spells every time.
