This series has no business being as good and mature as it is with the subject matter it tackles. You're definitely on the right track and paying attention to the right details and loving the new reactions.
Episode 4 dealing with Korra's fear is one of my favorite parts of this season, I think, because it's so humanizing and relatable. Talking about the things that we're afraid of is hard for almost everyone, and for Korra, with the pressure she feels on her shoulders and with the kind of personality that has, it's probably even harder. That whole little arc of her trying to put on a tough face, pretending everything is okay, not sharing her fears with anyone, making bad decisions out of a desperate need to feel in control of the situation, like challenging Amon to a duel because she can't just sit around with this fear inside her - it's all very well done. And when she finally breaks down at the end, it *always* gets me. I feel so deeply for her in that moment. And I love that the show establishes so early on that she's the kind of person to push her fear and pain away rather than deal with it healthily. I think it's easy for people to see a tough facade and take it at face value, and think that this person is actually doing fine, and then get confused as to why this person is making these decisions that they're making. But if you understand that they have a lot going on inside that they don't feel able to express openly, it provides a lot of context for understanding them and where they're coming from.
They don't draw much attention to it but a detail I like that really shows the power of the equalists in episode 6 is the wide shot of the arena after their airship arrives to pick up Amon. It shows the entire metal bender fleet sent to protect the arena as burning wrecks that have been shot down and destroyed. Going toe to toe with military units are your first real look at just how powerful this movement really is. It would be the same as an insurrection in the US by a political group being able to go to to toe with the national guard and win.
As Lin being my ABSOLUTE fav character in the whole show (yes, I have mummy issues) I love your reactions to her! “Girl who hurt you” - Ohhh considering Korra really wasn’t so far off with Pema stealing Tenzin, considering she declared her love to him WHILE they were still dating and THEN he left Lin for Pema (who is 16(!!!) years younger than him… she was 24 when she had Jinora while tenzin was 40 weird af)
41:22 Wow, I’ve rewatched both shows countless times and this is something I’d never considered before! It’s something I’m definitely gonna think about. Also, I think it’s a great in-world representation of what happens with these two shows in the fan base. ATLA was the first installment in this universe, so there was nothing to compare it to. LOK had the shadow of this great series hanging over it. Damn, see this is why I love watching reactions to me favorite series! All the different perspectives really opens your mind to the possibilities of these shows!
canon, non spoiler, context: As with any society, in republic city's earlier days, factories began to employ more advanced technologies, many benders were fired in order to reduce costs, leading to conflicts between benders and non-benders; while in current times the councils, non elected tribal representatives just happen to all be benders.
“Yeah but when you’re with her you’re thinking about me aren’t you?” We’ll damn lol, that’s a very bold statement. Love Korra but the audacity 😂😂💀💀 19:16
Daniel Dae Kim will forever be part of Avatar lore. He is the voice of Sato, he voiced one of the Earth kingdom generals in Avatar & now of course he is the Avatar Daddy, Ozai in the upcoming live action show.
😂 Cat Im loveing this again You and Tom showed me Avatar so watching You go through this and see some possible faces from the past ;) Puts a Smile on my face💚🔥☯️🤘
9:26 I think you’re the first reactor I’ve seen who didn’t immediately suspect Asami of being an equalist! Even I suspected it until she takes the glove from her dad and then zaps him with it.
I think it makes perfect sense, being the fact that they’re teenagers. Everything that happens between all of them is 100% something that would happen with teenagers, it’s just annoying to watch bc teenagers aren’t the smartest in decision making. Plus the whole one season at a time thing messed with it a bit IMO. I think it ends great :)
I’m by no means new here (been around since you appeared as Padmè in the fan film!) but it’s lovely to see you delving into Korra I don’t think Korra beats out ATLA for me overall, ATLA was a massive deal in my childhood so I always look through it fondly Though this should not diminish the special place Korra holds in my heart, I watched it for the first time with my younger brother in 2020 after we had gone through some really rough personal tragedy, and it gave us something to gush over and be excited about in a time we really needed it. No spoilers but of course Mako and Bolin being brothers specifically resonated with us BIG time That being said. (Once again, no spoilers of course Season 3 of Korra is just *chefs kiss* EASILY up there with the very best of ATLA, super stoked for you to get to it!) Of course the show as a whole is a damn great show, don’t wanna downplay the rest! There’ some missteps here and there, but the good FAR outweighs the bad (The show also had a pretty rough time with Nickelodeon too, but that’s a whole ‘nother can of worms)
People give Korra as a series too much crap but I love it in different ways with A:TLA I for one just relate to Korra more as a whole and i was the same age as them so it hit more home to me Korra is so good and if the Netflix A:TLA becomes a success, hopefully they also do a live action for Korra and just tie in everything a lot better and more cohesive
It's a very good Show Book 3 Syndrome of being goated carries over from ATLA, season to is noticeably weaker but still an amazing watch from book 1 to 4
The entire fandom is pretty unanimous about episode 5 being their least favorite of the season and possibly the whole series but they also pretty much all agree that the entire second half of the first season is absolutely amazing. Amon is arguably the best Avatar villain across both shows with his unique motivation, abilities, and his overall enigmatic nature. I'm glad that you seem to be enjoying it so far as the show continues to steadily improve from here on out for the most part.
I think people who dislike it a lot are probably fairly loud about it, but I don't know if it's really that offensive of an episode for most people. Even if you're not super into romance storylines, there's still a lot of fun character moments and dynamics, there's great action sequences with the bending, there's a lot of comedy in it... it's still a well-made episode, some people just get really, really upset about love triangles.
This series has no business being as good and mature as it is with the subject matter it tackles. You're definitely on the right track and paying attention to the right details and loving the new reactions.
Especially given the incompetence and hostility from nickolodeon.

WHOOO!!!!!!
Glad Cat is changing up things up a notch this year, and I'm glad you're watching this GOATED sequel to ATLA.
The next few episodes are gonna get wild, I'll say that

This show is underrated btw. Don’t pay attention to the haters. S3 and 4 are the best tho 😅

Finally someone who appreciates Tenzin I love him sm he’s such a good character

Hope all is well!!
I'm loving the Korra reactions!! ☺

Great reaction I'll just say this there's so much about this world that you don't know
This show gets crazyyyyyy from here 🔥🔥🔥 keep watching can’t wait
5:01 you'd totally rock an Asami cosplay btw
9:26 I think you’re the first reactor I’ve seen who didn’t immediately suspect Asami of being an equalist! Even I suspected it until she takes the glove from her dad and then zaps him with it.
Can't say much without spoiling but yeah the romance storylines are a bit of a mess in this show
I’ve already told myself not to get invested. For example I hate the fact korra got in between those two

20:25 momento Sad
Mako is my favorite character 🔥
Hope more Korra comes soon, the rest of the journey is quite a ride!!!

*vine boom* everytime she gets it right
Awesome reactions!!
Your enthusiasm is delightful….and you’re as lovely as can be. #yipyip
Poor Bolin 😢

Hi Asami... 😍🥰😍🥰😍
Greetings my beautiful friend ❤

I’d say second best. My favorite is probably not difficult to guess.
Fair enough, I just didn't want to risk spoiling anything.@@PelafinaLievre
