In this video, I will unbox, setup, and perform a full review of the Redmi AX6 WiFi6 router. I will go through all the features of the router. Then, I will show you how to set up the device and pair it to the Mi WiFi App. I will show you how to upgrade the firmware of the router and perform speed tests and range tests, and compare it to the Xiaomi Mi AIoT AX3600 Router using the iPerf Bandwidth measurement tool. The Redmi AX6 supports the 160MHz bandwidth, Game Acceleration, and Mesh Networking.
I will also show you how to configure a mesh network between the Redmi AX6 and the Mi AX3600. In the future, I will review the Mesh Network between the Xiaomi Mi AX1800, AX3600, Redmi AX6, and Redmi AX5 Wi-Fi 6 Routers by conducting a speed and range test, Wi-Fi Roaming test of the mesh network.

Hey, Thanks for the video. I tried connecting this with AX1800 as a node but it couldn't find it. I had to upgrade firmware of AX1800 to 1.0.336 and it worked.

I just got the redmi ax6. I really like it. However not a lot device supports 80mhz 4x4 or 160mhz 2x2. So most of the device will just run at half of the speed.

Hi! I'm using AX6 as main(host) while 1 AX5 & 1 Ax1800 as mesh nodes. Always experience WIFI connection disconnected and re-connected minutes later. While this happening, message with "Obtaining IP address" and kind of frustrating. All with latest firmware. Anyone can assist?

Now, I'm thinking of buying this router as a Wifi 6 Access Point for 5Ghz 160mhz, but I've heard that this only has 128MB ROM. Is this a big factor in performance since I want the AX3600 to do the DHCP? Note that both of them are connected via LAN with the AX3600 as the "main router".
EDIT : I've implemented Wifi Roaming with my older AC router by bringing down the bandwidth to 80mhz at WPA2 at 5Ghz. So I'm planning to buy this a cheaper "extension"
The ROM size is not as important as the RAM. I think it will not affect the performance of the networking. So you can go ahead with the AX6 if it is suitable for your application. Thanks.

Hey! Thanks for all your videos and tutorials! It helped so much! I have one question. I recenty bought redmi ax6 router. In my home I have 25 devices connected to network (10 are connected via LAN cable through gigabit lan switch). Router worked perfectly, but after I paired devices with static IP (10 or so devices had assigned static IP on AX6) router started to act wierd. Wifi crashed down, I had to reset router every time... I tired changing channel of 2.4G wifi to less congested (I tried also wifi optimization on MiWifi phone app), nothing helped. After that I reset (factory reset) and didn't assign static IPs to devices and works fine. Do you have any idea?
I'm not sure of this problem. Make sure you don't have ip conflicts between other devices of your Network. Assigning static IPs using the router should work, not sure why it's creating problems. The router should actually assign the same IP for the same MAC address of the device even if it's set to automatic assignment. If static ip is not working then you can try to get the automatic IP of the connected devices and use it for your purpose. Thanks.

I would suggest at least 1 AX3600 to be your main router. The AX3600 has the most powerful signal amplifiers than all the rest. And you can add one of the three based on your requirement. But you are right, 3 of the cheaper AX1800/AX5 may offer the same coverage. 2 AX3600s may not be necessary though speaking from the price point. Thanks.

Hi Bro. I assume you are from Singapore. Can you confirm if in case of starhub can this router can be connected directly to the Optical Network terminal (ONT) . (Without using the existing router).

The Redmi AX6 performs a little better than the Huawei AX3 Pro (Chinese version). The range performance is like this: Mi Ax3600 > Redmi AX6 > Huawei AX3 Pro. But note that the Huawei AX3 Pro that I have here is the Chinese version, which is more powerful than the EU (International) AX3 Pro. So Redmi AX6 will be definitely better than the Huawei AX3 Pro EU version. Thanks.

For the Router, you should use the MiWiFi App. It's a separate app and can be used to fully control the router. There is also a Translated version of the app that has more features, link is in the description. You can use the Mi Home for your smart home devices. Change of region could be difficult. Hi, great videos man! i bought AX3600 Global as the main router and now i got the AX6 Chinese as a mesh. However i can't seem to be able to setup the AX6 as mesh.
Did a reset of AX6 and tried to look for mesh nodes on the AX3600 interface and it couldnt find it.

Tried installing the the latest miwifiapp beta from your link and its recognizing the AX6 and the Ax3600. however is unable to pair the AX3600. after entering password it says Pairing failed. I guess because its global?... please let me know if have knowledge on how to solve this.
BTW: Both are on latest version. ax6 is 10.0.0.18
I have heard about this problem, I think it is mainly due to the difference in router regions. Xiaomi Routers have different servers for different regions. The AX1800 is only available in the Chinese Server. You may have to change the AX3600 region to China. Thanks.

Actually better reception now with single ax6... I think China version has stronger transmission? Maybe global is more limiting because of European standards
@@dordor201 Yes it's one possibility that the Global firmware has some limitations. However you can simply install the Chinese Firmware on the AX3600 if you want. The hardwares seem to be the same in both global and Chinese. Thanks.

You have to select the Wired Repeater Mode during the setup. First connect the Ethernet cable from your main router to the WAN port of the AX6. I could not understand your problem properly. I am guessing it is related to WiFi SSID not visible on certain devices. Please set the WiFi channels according to your location as per the information given here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels. Thanks.

I have buyed Redmi AX6 yesterday came in my post here in Albania , I installed the router , and I set both 2.4GHZ and 5 GHZ at the same SSID (concurent mode) , till now is ok , but I'm seeing a strange thing the router has an hidden SSID , I have an app installed that shows that my router has 2.4 GHZ , 5 GHZ , and an Hidden SSID in 2.4 GHZ non encrypted , this ssid I can see only throw Wifi analyzer apps , I wanna know if you have any idea what it might be?
The hidden SSID is for the Easy WiFi Connect. To remove the hidden SSID - enable first the "Easy WiFi Connect", then wait for a few seconds, then disable it again. This is a bug. I hope they fix this on the next firmware update.
The Hidden SSID should not be broadcasted unless the Easy WiFi Connect is enabled. But somehow, it's broadcasted, hence you need to disable it twice, including when you reboot the router.
Does the AX6 have a firewall like SPI, NAT, DOS attack protection?
It does have a firewall to prevent suspicious activities and user access control. But I am not sure that it has DOS attack prevention, etc. There is no specific mention of those services. Thanks.

I bought the AX6 router as an future router to extend the mesh network. Meanwhile I am using this router as a repeater for my DLINK main router. I have replaced the MII 4A router with AX6 and the problem started. Many disconnection problems. The problem spreads to my main router and I have to power cycle both the main and the AX6 router (defined as a repeater). With the old MII 4A router I did not have any problem. I expect XIAOMI to fix the current firmware 1.00.018 problems. I had the same on 1.00.16 firmware version. Did you try this router as a wifi repeater ?
I am sorry for the problem. I have not used AX6 as a repeater since it has the mesh function. There may be some incompatibility with the DLINK router due to the different Wi-Fi protocols. You can try making AX6 as the main router and DLINK as the repeater. Other possible solutions could be disabling WiFi 6 feature in AX6 and trying again. Thanks for your comments.

I do not have the Mi AC2100 to compare to but I guess Redmi AX6 has more range as it has more antennas and more number of amplifiers. And Xiaomi AX routers have Mesh function to extend range. Range and performance wise both are similar. AX6 seems to run cooler though. The Huawei AI Life App is better than Mi WiFi App. If you can get the AX3 Pro global Version, you can get English web interface but the AX6 is still Chinese. However, Xiaomi/Redmi routers run on a modified OpenWRT firmware and their official firmwares are open unlike Huawei. So later you can upgrade to the global version or OpenWRT support may come in the future. For me AX6 is more suitable because of the firmware. You can decide based on your requirements. Thanks.

Yes you are right. There are a few differences between the AX6 and AX3600. The AX3600 has slightly more powerful signal amplifier chips than AX6. So it depends, if you think that AX6 is enough for covering your space then you can go for it. However the coverage difference is not much between the two. It have only 3 ethernet port (only 3 devices can be connected), not 4 ethernet port. One of them is an input port.
Yes, as I said in the video, out of the 4 ethernet ports, one is a WAN port and 3 are LAN ports. However, if the router is in Wireless mesh or repeater mode, all the 4 ports can be used as a LAN. Thanks.

If you have already set up your router once before, you can't pair it again. Just login to your Mi account to which you paired the router before and it should automatically come up in the app. Thanks.
