This is all great info, thanks and congrats, this is what Xiaomi should be doing! But I feel it's right to add my experience: My previous Xiaomi router ("... 3G") was a great basic device, great value, I don't need much more, but it unfortunately suddenly stopped working properly after 2-3 years. I chose AX3600, as it should be a "top router" and wanted peace of mind for at least the next 4 years. Turned out, router was connecting with 130-150 mbps at 0 meters distance (all kinds of devices and brands), transferring at most 5-10 MBps (2.4/5GHz). I tried 2 units, with the same bad result, 2-4x slower, 2x worse signal and can not keep up with 2 data streams, or even 1 sometimes, previously reliable IoT devices complaining or not functional etc. I am sure I did not get any "fake" units. However, beware: -Xiaomi chose to GET RID OF GUEST wifi network, which is a great option for IoT devices, instead they should introduce a dedicated IoT network AND keep segregated guest ssid = really bad decision, -the "IoT antenna" is a bad joke, it did work in my case, but otherwise useless, see my comment above, it should be used for that purpose, -there is no USB port to connect HDD or other storage, I don't need it, I guess most people don't, -and some more bad decisions which are mentioned here, -putting it all together, all marketing material is very misleading in this case, and I am a Xiaomi fan(!).
Yes, the mesh functionality, it does work, but one must understand that while there is data being transferred between "main/host" and "client" devices, it will eat up spectrum/bandwidth, so realistically you get better range, but implementation does not seem to be a proper "mesh" network. This is only my short experience with it, it might work better than that in some circumstances, but as far as I know, Xiaomi does not reveal the underlying tech.
@@v3ctr412 Honestly speaking, I didn't notice any difference in speed or range after the update. In the forums, people also reported different cases, some said they noticed range decrease while others say they didn't notice any change. However, it is my responsibility to caution users hence I have posted the notice. I'm finding more objective methods to measure the difference rather than just test. I'll let you know soon, thanks.
Hi, Will this work trying to upgrade an AX3600 on current Chinese version 1.1.19 and then meshing with an AX3000 (Chinese version)? Is v3.0.22 still the latest global version for AX3600 or is there a later version now? if you are upgrading the router from the Chinese Firmware, then even after the upgrade to the Global Firmware the Region will still be China as the router did not reset. However, if you reset the router, you cannot select China as a Region when you are setting up as a new router. So, if you need your router to be in the Chinese Region, make sure that you do not reset it. If you reset, one solution is to reinstall the Chinese FW and set it up, and then upgrade to the Global FW. I tried it now and it works. I do not think the speed will reduce just because of the Mesh setup. If you are connected to one of the nodes, then may be yeah the ping time may increase. The speed test shown here is after the Mesh setup between the AX3600 and the AX6, and it did not reduce before the mesh. Thanks.

I want to use my ISP provided router, and only build my WiFI via the AX3600 and AX1800 in Mesh Mode. But i it doesn't work in Repeater Mode, that would be a big issue for me. Any idea?
No, repeater mode and mesh are not compatible with each other as the routers must be using a similar Wi-Fi expansion technique that can be utilized by only one service at a time. @@mickaeldijoux9946 Xiaomi hasn't released the global firmware for AX1800 yet. And there is a confusion because Xiaomi rebranded the Redmi AX5 and released it as Global AX1800 router. So we aren't sure which is which now.
Is it possible to flash the CN firmware to the global version of the router? The reason I ask is some of the local seller is starting to sell the global version and I would like to know if it's still an option to use the CN firmware and supposedly get the benefit of stronger signal

Hi guys, please use the Translated Chinese MiWiFi app to set up the AX3600 in the Chinese region and then you can mesh it with the other WiFi 6 routers (CN Firmware) from Xiaomi. You need to uninstall your current MiWiFi App first. Yes you can use an Ethernet Backhaul for 3 routers in both the configuration that you have mentioned. Make sure you make the mesh config before the Ethernet connections. Thanks.

My signal coverage is increased very significantly and now I have decided to keep the chinese firmware. But a little problem I am facing. now I can only access my router through web interface and on my miwifi app it got paired in germany region of the app but showing "Router is offline". please guide how can I solve this problem?

Hi, I setup 2 AX3600 in mesh and using LAN cable to connect them to create a wired mesh. However i noticed something weird, when I'm in wifi mesh, client from both side of the node can ping each other, but when I'm using wired mesh, they can't reach each other. Have you encounter such thing for ax3600 in wired mesh?
yep, something firewalling all wired clients, linux clients cannot even update packages, it comes and go so i think it has to do with some firmware bug, try to reset to factory and re-setup

I have heard about this problem, I think it is mainly due to the difference in router regions. Xiaomi Routers have different servers for different regions. The AX1800 is only available in the Chinese Server. You may have to change the AX3600 region to China. Thanks.

@@top1983gmail Yes, I flashed the Chinese firmware on the global hardware, successfully. So I was able to set up the mesh network. However, the miwifi application has stopped detecting the ax3600. I returned to flash the global firmware, the mesh network continues to work, but the application still does not detect the ax3600 😓

Sorry, I do not see any VLAN tagging option in the Global Firmware. However, some people in the Sg HW Forum says that it has VLAN for SingTel ONT Users in Singapore. And also during the setup in PPPoE mode, it offers to import the settings from your curretn router automatically. Thanks. @@DSmartLife The box was sealed so I don't think the seller installed the firmware. It seems to be the international version because by default it comes with the EU electric plug.

@@DSmartLife The AX3600 is a global model, but I found a way to mesh them. In fact, You just have to flash the latest Chinese firmware on the AX3600, then you will can mesh it with the Chinese AX1800. After you meshed them you just have to flash the latest International firmware without delete your configurations and that's it, your AX3600 global and AX1800 Chinese will be meshed !

I have not seen this problem. The 3.0.22 firmware has Mesh function. I don't know why you are not seeing it. May be region restriction? Please change the region to Germany or Singapore or China and see. Thanks.
thanks for the reply. i got it to work after factory resetting the mesh mode twice to get it detected. it doesn't want to show on the web-ui. have to be done on miwifi app. but i still cannot view the topology from the web-ui, even though it shows on the miwifi app.

@@DSmartLife i used two chinese ax3600 (updated with global firmware). funny thing is, i cannot put the node behind the network switch, otherwise it would not detect the node (node is hardwired to the master). and i cannot form mesh from the web-UI (it says mesh feature is not supported), so i formed the mesh with miwifi app. but the 160MHz still not available. still tinkering how to get the 160MHz (i think it depends on the chosen region). i chose Indonesia as the region.

@@mickaeldijoux9946 Xiaomi hasn't released the global firmware for AX1800 yet. And there is a confusion because Xiaomi rebranded the Redmi AX5 and released it as Global AX1800 router. So we aren't sure which is which now.

Yes you can do so, the process is the same. After flashing the CN version you can reset it and set it up in the Chinese Region. Thanks.

If I use an AX1800 as the main router, I can connect the AX3600 and the second AX1800 as a mesh. Could it be because the AX3600 is in German and the others in Chinese?

Hi guys, please use the Translated Chinese MiWiFi app to set up the AX3600 in the Chinese region and then you can mesh it with the other WiFi 6 routers (CN Firmware) from Xiaomi. Yes you can use an Ethernet Backhaul for 3 routers in both the configuration that you have mentioned. Make sure you make the mesh config before the Ethernet connections. Thanks.

Hi I bought a global version AX3600 with 3.0.22 firmware. I just installed chinese firmware 1.1.15 latest one on my global version router. My signal coverage is increased very significantly and now I have decided to keep the chinese firmware. But a little problem I am facing. now I can only access my router through web interface and on my miwifi app it got paired in germany region of the app but showing "Router is offline". please guide how can I solve this problem?

It has the same body and model (RA67) than the AX5, just with a Mi logo instead of Redmi.

Have to unplug and plug in the power supply or the DC jack on the router. The new AX9000 has a power button, but I don't think others have.

Hi, I setup 2 AX3600 in mesh and using LAN cable to connect them to create a wired mesh. However i noticed something weird, when I'm in wifi mesh, client from both side of the node can ping each other, but when I'm using wired mesh, they can't reach each other. Have you encounter such thing for ax3600 in wired mesh?
yep, something firewalling all wired clients, linux clients cannot even update packages, it comes and go so i think it has to do with some firmware bug, try to reset to factory and re-setup

Hello. I have an AX1800 Chinese version and I also have an ax3600 global version. But I can't set up mesh. Do I have to put the Chinese firmware on the ax3600?
I have heard about this problem, I think it is mainly due to the difference in router regions. Xiaomi Routers have different servers for different regions. The AX1800 is only available in the Chinese Server. You may have to change the AX3600 region to China. Thanks.

@@top1983gmail Yes, I flashed the Chinese firmware on the global hardware, successfully. So I was able to set up the mesh network. However, the miwifi application has stopped detecting the ax3600. I returned to flash the global firmware, the mesh network continues to work, but the application still does not detect the ax3600 😓

Sorry, I do not see any VLAN tagging option in the Global Firmware. However, some people in the Sg HW Forum says that it has VLAN for SingTel ONT Users in Singapore. And also during the setup in PPPoE mode, it offers to import the settings from your curretn router automatically. Thanks. ax3600 (global fw) with ax1800 (cn) are having compatibility issue when setting nodes with each other.
I got one with a production date of 8/2020 and it already came with the global version of the firmware.
Your seller probably installed it for you, if it's the Chinese version (box language is in Chinese?) Or you got the international version.
@@DSmartLife The box was sealed so I don't think the seller installed the firmware. It seems to be the international version because by default it comes with the EU electric plug.

In fact, You just have to flash the latest Chinese firmware on the AX3600, then you will can mesh it with the Chinese AX1800. After you meshed them you just have to flash the latest International firmware without delete your configurations and that's it, your AX3600 global and AX1800 Chinese will be meshed !

I have not seen this problem. The 3.0.22 firmware has Mesh function. I don't know why you are not seeing it. May be region restriction? Please change the region to Germany or Singapore or China and see. Thanks.
thanks for the reply. i got it to work after factory resetting the mesh mode twice to get it detected. it doesn't want to show on the web-ui. have to be done on miwifi app. but i still cannot view the topology from the web-ui, even though it shows on the miwifi app.

@@DSmartLife i used two chinese ax3600 (updated with global firmware). funny thing is, i cannot put the node behind the network switch, otherwise it would not detect the node (node is hardwired to the master). and i cannot form mesh from the web-UI (it says mesh feature is not supported), so i formed the mesh with miwifi app. but the 160MHz still not available. still tinkering how to get the 160MHz (i think it depends on the chosen region). i chose Indonesia as the region.

The Mi AX3600 is more powerful than the Mi AX1800. AX3600 also has 160MHz bandwidth however AX1800 has only 80MHz. Thanks.
