A story my grandfather once told me when I was a child: Every hundred years, a comet appears in the skies above the Mushroom Kingdom. That comet was so large one year, it filled the skies and sent countless shooting stars raining down. The toads brought the shooting stars to the castle, where they became a great power star. It should have been a very happy time for the citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. That was the night of the Star Festival, held once every hundred years to celebrate the comet.
I've lost track of how many times I replayed the end cutscene as a child, having absolutely no clue what was happening. 5 years later, I replayed the game from scratch, and eventually got to the part where this plays. That will forever be the hardest realization in any game I'll ever play.
SAME!!! I had no idea that this happened as a child, but now that I'm older and replayed the entire game, I realized what really happened at this part. Hit like a train wreck 😥

Every main mario gamer was just incredible. Even some spin offs like bowsers inside story, sluggers, paper mario, and the one where you play blackjack with luigi.
I’m crying This was my first ever Mario game believe it or not I remember every single day my parents would ask me about what happened in the game and I would always explain it and they never remembered who Rosalina was 😂 I would sit in my bed all day playing this game every single day until it broke and it’ll always have a soft spot in my heart sometimes I wish things could go back to the way they were but everyone has to move on eventually I will continue to replay this game until the day I die
Dude, I read your comment and almost cried. I'm Brazilian, and it looks like you described me writing this. this game is very beautiful. Now all we can do is remember the good times...
You know I can somewhat relate. I used to play my Wii a lot and the games I played including Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles, Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Mario Kart Wii, Bully, Etc But most importantly my favorite of them all being DragonBall Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3. I played my Wii soo much that it broke about 6 years later and I do wish I can go back from time to time but I had to forget about it for a while and move on. But one day I’ll reunite with my Wii.

that video game is a master peace , it mae me cry for the first time in front of a game , the ending is too hard to accept because i don't want to separe of my luma thhhat video game is incredible .
Sadly, I’m a bit too young to have played this as a little kid… but someday, I hope to be able to cherish a childhood game as much as all of you love this one.
You'll find it. The game you love, the story you cherish so much, that it can bring you to tears. It's a beautiful feeling, and even if this game won't be that for you, another one surely will.
Hey I wanted to upload this exact mix but just the second half! I just couldn't believe no one did it before but I see you took the initiative first! Thanks for this!
society gets slightly worse over time but listening to this just reminds me of how life was when i was young and how sad yet perfect with song was. whatever we do can effect so little yet so much.
I did cry from the part where Lumas sacrificed themselves, but not even because of that, but because of the heartfelt music that suited it well (and how it built tension).
this was the first game i ever considered to be a masterpiece. nothing can beat it for the amount of emotion it gives me
Everything, from the amazing orchestral music, to the Rosalina Story Book is a masterpiece.
I love this game so much.
So true 🥲
everytime the “a wish” part comes on i get goosebumps. every. single. time.
Agreed
Dude I just start crying man i can’t help it
Accurate, I'm reading this comment having goosebumps.

note that sad girl is in a completely different key so it'd probably hit you like a brick wall

This is the most beautiful piece of sound my ears have ever witnessed
This song is the sense of solitude and immensity at the same time. simply beautiful
Who knew that that an ending to a mario story could be so heroic heartbreaking and so beautiful all at the same time
yep. still makes me cry, even just to listen to it.
man imagine you have grandchildren in like, 2079 and you tell some kind of story with this music on
never knew how good i had it back then :C

This theme alone is one of the many reason why I call this my absolute favorite Mario game.
Not even Odyssey can top this.
Try saying the same for Wonder.
@@JuliusGrande It's a tie, they have different pros and (joy)cons.

What a fucking MASTERPIECE. It was as good as Odyssey - no, BETTER than Odyssey. Yeah I said it.
I 100% agree, Odyssey is fun, but Galaxy is just too good to be underneath Odyssey
I know not everyone will agree with me but I think Galaxy is one of if not *the* greatest game of all time
Please make an extended version this was beautiful!
The great memories I had when playing Mario games 🥹
I miss you

Super Mario Galaxy for me is and always will be the saddest game of the entire saga

As a kids we all thought this was unfair and sad to see Luma’s go. But as an adult you realise it’s just the life cycle to them.
