Fun fact: The Hand Fake from Partners In Time having the Bowser popsicle stick puppet may be a paradox. The enemy is from the past (when Bowser was a toddler), yet the puppet is of adult Bowser. This makes the Hand Fake so much stranger because it raises the questions of why and how it has that puppet.
@@darthtroller The adult Bowser had also travelled to the past by then, as he ended up at Thwomp Mountain and faced off against the the Bros. prior to them going to Star Hill and Star Shrine where the Hand Fakes are encountered later on.
Plot Twist: Its Bowser's DAD! Think about it... Bowser Jr. looks almost exactly like Bowser did as a kid, so its possible that Bowser's father ALSO looked just like adult Bowser.
For me, it's gotta be the Crawfuls in BIS. Fawful style crocodiles that rely on literal slapstick comedy to attack you. They also wear dentures that Bowser can,for whatever reason, inhale, making it so when they try to heal themselves with giant beans, the beans end up slipping out of their mouths and whack them from behind leaving them stunned. I remember being so confused when I first saw that happen. Also, if you're fighting more than one and one of them hits you, the one who's not attacking will laugh at you. I think a runner up would be the Fawful Shy Guys. I like their little dancing animation and their main attack involves getting pulled away by a giant offscreen Yoshi tongue accompanied by a scary sounding roar before being thrown in an egg Yoshi's Island style.
Gonna be that guy and say that the Coconutter is actually from Partners in Time. I remember those guys, they were cool, shifted stances and all so you couldn't always jump on them. Also, the Gunner Guy appeared in Superstar Saga and it's remake, not Bowser's Inside Story
It's also interesting that they have a gimmick that basically gives them a permanent poisoned like status, which they can also easily give you if you fail to defend their attack, and that removing their ice bags doubles their negative status effect. Such an effective change on an already interesting enemy to face in battle.
I always thought it was such a creative idea that removing a sniffle thwomp's ice pack causes its fever to rise, which damages it more. Kind of dark that they're dying from a sickness and you're speeding their demise up, but those themes are what I love
Encountering weird enemies isn't just a core identity to the Mario & Luigi franchise, but the entirety of the Mario franchise. Just look at the enemies from Wonder. Mawmaws are a personal favorite of mine. Dunno what they were smoking when making some of the enemies from Sunshine, though.
@@INFERNO95That’s only Super Mario RPG. Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi characters are 100% own by Nintendo. That’s why even though Starlow was created by Alphadream she is in the new Mario and Luigi game made by Acquire.
It's sad that the remake of Superstar Saga replaced the Koopa Cruiser Koopas in flight jackets with generic ones, and the unique Toads with generic ones too. It wasn't reusing sprites from Paper Jam or Dream Team because the angles and design of the sprites were different.
@@volvoman5262 They are not re-used. Paper Jam Toads you can see the entire front of their face, remake Toads the camera angle is higher and you can see more of the top of their mushroom cap. Compare them again side by side
I'm suprised you didn't talk about the sniper bill they have one of the oddest designs where the bullet bill has a sniper rifle and shoots a smaller bullet bill from the weapon and then shoots at the bros with himself
Missed the Chomp Bro from SuperStar Saga in the category of Bro like foes, A bulky bro that swings around a Chain Chomp, with high defense, who is immune to Mario's Fire attacks.
They also reuse enemies from the previous games From what I could remember from the snippets of footage those enemies were mostly from dream team especially the dream enemies.
Seeing this video reminds me of the Laser Snifit. For whatever reason I adore the design to the point I designed a Paper Mario partner that is a Laser Snifit. Also RIP the robot dog enemy in the OG Superstar Saga that got replaced with plain Mechakoopas in the remake even though lorewise that makes little sense. They will be missed. Edit - Right! Peps too! Pep my beloved, that one I know I like due to the different forms it has. Also made a partner for them too that had the form change gimmick.
To be fair with most of dream team's enemies, they're in the dream world: Luigi's imagination. If most enemies are fairly uncreative or dream world variants of real world enemies, that makes sense as they're probably based on what Luigi saw before snoozing.
12:15 the trashure is most likely based of the word trashing or to trash something (beating it up). Here 2 examples of the use of trashing. 1. To damage or wreck, as by vandalism: The house got trashed during the party. 2. To criticize severely or attack verbally: The film was trashed by reviewers.
If this video blows up, which I think it will, looking at others Piantapedia videos, I just wanna say to everyone that I have a cool idea you all can do while playing Mario & Luigi Brothership and that is to make a logbook, like a diary, where every day you play the game, you record how was your day with the game, you can imagine that you were in the shipshape island, like a crew member and you record all the things Mario & Luigi did in the day. It would make your playtime way more interesting, specially since this game its an seafaring adventure and it would be cool to really engross yourself to the game.
Bowser's Inside Story gave me existential dread as a kid, and to this day it STILL makes me a little uncomfortable... Just the thought that Bowser has an entire livable world _inside_ of his body, with sentient enemies running around in there? Its horrifying. I've always been squeamish about stuff like that... One time I had trouble sleeping at night after watching the Magic School Bus episode where they went through the digestive system. I was a HUGE germaphobe back then, and the concept of parasites _still_ freaks me out. So having an entire game about walking around inside of an alien world inside of Bowser's body was extremely unsettling. The Piranha Plorps are literal nightmare fuel and no one can convince me otherwise.
2:10 You're right, its Japanese name is "Fula Dancer," is a play on the fact that "flask" and "hula" start with the same two syllables in Japanese. It's kind of hard to see written out in English, but the Japanese characters make sense. Note that they start with the same two characters: フラ・ダンサー Hula Dancer フラスコ Flask
This is one of the reason I love the Mario and Luigi game because the enemy are so unique like chuboomba and treevil because they kinda don’t make sense in a way but also do in a way
The eeker if I remember correctly is a reference to a doctor mario commercial which played the witch doctor song hence the fire and skirt, with the beaker being seen as a traditional doctor or scientist type of equipment

I like to thunk it draws from its enemies' memories

@vincentadamsvga ik, but I don't see how the Hand Fakes would have known about adult Bowser
Im pretty sure thats bowsers dad

Think about it... Bowser Jr. looks almost exactly like Bowser did as a kid, so its possible that Bowser's father ALSO looked just like adult Bowser.
I didn't know what a chuboomba was before this video, but now I'm gonna start a petition to nintendo to put them in the next main title.

Nintendo don't own those characters. None of the RPG games are made by Nintendo.

Bowser's Inside Story was honestly peak creativity with their enemy designs, both relating to the body and...not relating to the body.
Ah yes the game the is literally the definition of the writer's barely disguised fetish

I love how some of the designs are "Okay, there's this thing... now what if we add EYES to them? AND make them enemies?"
banjo kazooie enemy design
I always loved the sick thwomps from bowsers inside story, they were just the funniest enemy concept to me
omg I love them too

5:36 get out of my head get out of my head get out of my head
3:46 While I'm not exactly sure if it's intentional, Snoozorbs look a lot alike Nightmare from the Metroid series.
brothership has some whacky characters from what was shown

13:42 AKA one of the most frustrating enemies in the game lol
The BEST Mario RPG series!
6:00 while sure but I think it’s about a bit inspired by a steam trains funnel and or exhaust (pipe?).
Yeah, it even charges like a train after puffing out smoke.
Skellokey appear in PiT and not in BiS, and their french name are "Pokeyrex" (Skellerex is the french name for Dry Bones)
2:54 This isn't an enemy from Superstar Saga, it's from Partners in Time.

It more than likely comes from the fact that these guys mainly attack by having the lock throw random junk at you.

muddy hand spotted
The snoozor is I think meant to resemble a manatee

Pretty sure Choomba is supposed to be a Train Goomba. It chugs like a train and the Choo is the sound a train makes (choo choo)
5:53 this is my favorite
Because his exclusive of the dessert area that can create sand storms to distract you and hit you
The eeker if I remember correctly is a reference to a doctor mario commercial which played the witch doctor song hence the fire and skirt, with the beaker being seen as a traditional doctor or scientist type of equipment
Gritty goombas live in a desert, that wrapping is a way to protect them from the sand, like tuskans in star wars
Wonderful video as always
Thanks as always!
It was time someone talked about the enemies and their awesome designs in the M&L series
My first game ever was M$L Bowser’s Inside Story. I’m a bit biased, but I love the enemy theming for inside the body.
6:04
actually they’re part train.
7:02
They’re not in BIS.
I'll just say that the new Mario and Luigi has weirder enemies than all the other previous games.
Omg i saw 3-4 mario dream team enemy on the image I HAD to click, dream team is my favorite game yet nobody really talk about it
3:44 reminds me of that melty boss from Metroid Fusion
cool vid dude !
12:12 i think the name trashure is meant to be a reference to the phrase "one man's trash is another man's treasure"?
You should've included all of the enemies from all the Mario & Luigi games, not ignore them completely.
Gritty goomba might be a reference to the desert people from stars wars a new hope
The coconutter is from partners in time
The enemies do get a bit quirky at night
Brother ship will have some new faces
6:00 Chromed up cyberpsycho
Interesting how the Tanoombas aren't related to the Tanooki Goombas from SM3DL.
Neat how some of the names look like they probably retain some of their Japanese origins, like with the Japanese onomatopoeia for chirping and whatnot
The Coconutter is from Partners in Time
A fawfulised platypus would be called a “Platypawful”
Coconutter are from Partners in Time, not SS
12:08 I never noticed that they look like M and L's mustache
Silly me at the end of the video: Wait, he didn't talk about Paper jam's ennemies!
Me realizing why it's such a silly comment: Oh... right...
Please do this for Brothership!!!!!!!!!
Lore of The Bizarre Enemies of Mario & Luigi Games momentum 100
Well Shell Creepers are just Koopas.
10:45 Ssstonksss.
Personally my favorite weird enemy is the Naplock from Peach's Castle in BiS
The Mario version of Cybershell
Get ready for more loveable weirdos in the new one lol. I like the machine birds the most so far.
5:43 Griddy Goomba
I always loved Shroobsworth
Why is some of the footage and sprites so blurry? I know it's low resolution pixel art, but pixels should not be fuzzy.
You forgot the bullet bill with a sniper rifle
I’m pretty sure the metal treevil from brothership is pronounced like corrode, because it’s rusting
Snoozeorb should have been a pokemon
6:48 feed and seed?
I love the diabetic goombas.
Enemies Paper Jam?Paper enemies😢
Goated enemies
Meanwhile Paper Jam had nothing weird.
Tfw no love/soul bubble
Brothership ain’t even out bruh
5:07 AND YOU CAN'T EVEN SAY MY NAME
This dude kinda sounds like nin10doland a bit
Huh neat
Nice
