Possibly because lizards are among the coolest animals on Earth! I've had, Chuckwallas, Desert Iguanas, Green Iguanas, Collered Lizards, Beardies, and Water Dragons, ALL great animals I cared for!

@Oil tank ah yes savannah monitors the reptile you shouldn’t get unless you have a zoo the second best big lizard This is me be sarcastic so don’t take it seriously 😭🤚
Significant progress has been made in captive breeding for caimans and it's all thanks to people in the community like you, Clint. You have done nothing but wonders for this hobby and this community.
What an absolutely beautiful creature. I can never own one, but I enjoyed watching him, especially the closeups where I could see details of his scale geometry, color gradations, and bright eye. It’s great that they are relatively handleable, not seriously dangerous like some others. (Looking at you, green iguana, and you’re not the only one.) As you suggest, a good pet for someone with the problem of too much money.
i recommend the "summon animal, lvl. 2" spell. gives you a brand new lizard without parasites for up to 20 minutes. and then it vanishes, so you don't need to think about food or an enclosure.
Okay, so I know your fan base isn’t the largest - but with every new video you post, my need (NEED!) for Clint’s reptiles merch grows bigger. By the standard of your videos and your logo, you seem to have a great graphic designer and I have a great need for a pretty t-shirt with some of the lovely Clint quotes. I mean: ‘when you’re a noodle with a head, the world is a scary place’? Yes. ‘Blinking is for mortals’? Also yes. ‘Stinking rad’, ‘awesome’, ‘spectacular’? I would buy all of these! Even from this video - I want a shirt saying ‘you’ve ever chased down a snail?’ I don’t know, it’s just a thought. I absolutely love your show, and I would personally love some merch :D
I agree, you are by far one of the best animal education channels on UA-cam. I would be more than happy to buy some merch in support of all of the incredible info you provide us in such a nice accessible form. Your production value is fantastic. Thank you so much for what you do for the community!
So many of the lizards that score low on your channel have a common theme that goes beyond them being demanding to care for. Other than the large monitors that could be dangerous of course. They are wild farmed and imported en masse rather than bred for demand. They are stressed. They have parasites. They may be bad tempered. They may be wounded by other lizards during importing. They may even die on arrival such as the chinese water dragon. I bet so many of these lizards could be far more achievable pets if only they were captive bred and genuinely looked after. It breaks my heart that this probably wont ever change
It annoys me so much that your channel is so small and new because I run out of videos to watch but man I LOVE this channel and I love animals. My dream job is to work with animals a lot but idk what and as a new tegu owner your video helped me a lot to know that I wanted one. So keep it up man, and you will hopefully be a big channel! -from 15 year old viewer who loves to learn about these spectacular creatures.
Thank you so much for making this video. I was going to get a Caiman because I heard all about how great they are as an animal, but now I know not to get one because I won't be able to afford to keep it. I'm disappointed, but it's better than ending up with a lizard I'll have to give up.
I so appreciate your forthrightness and honesty. Of course every lizard is cool and we all want one. Everyone needs the reality check on what’s really involved in each animal! Thank you so much!
Clint I love your videos, getting a reptile soon and you’ve helped me get an idea of care and just give me more of an idea of how amazing these animals are! I think you’re an incredible person and your passion for lizards radiate through the screen, it’s infectious!
A friend of mine had 2 caiman lizards in a 1500 gallon aquarium, its amazing. I built an exhibit at the fort worth zoo that has caimen lizards in it, spectacular flooded amazon forest display.
I love your videos. Very educational. Anyone wanting a new reptile should watch your videos to know exactly what they are getting into. Those cute little reptiles like this one and the tegu are like owning a toddler that will require special treatment for life, and their own room bigger than a closet. Without this education many will not be able to envision the full impact of future costs involved with getting a cute reptile. Thank you for the great education.
Even more handsome with the facial hair Clint. Your enthusiasm is so contagious, and I'll repeat what 100k people probably already had...you deserve more subscribers :)
Top of my "as soon as I can afford it" list! Starting a snail and crayfish breeding set up this year so I will have a stable live food source. Keep up the good work bud!
I definitely don't have the time and resources for a Caiman lizard, but what a gorgeous creature! They have all the coolness of lizards like crocodilians and tegus, but such a cute little face. 😍
I'm in love with Thorn! If I had so much money I didn't know what to do with it, I would love a Caiman lizard, but then if I had that sort of wealth I could have a rescue centre and hire staff and use it as an education resource for kids...it would be so cool!
Gorgeous animal!! Sounds like a lot of work so I'll leave this lovely critter to the pros and admire them where I see them. Thanks as always for a fantastic vid, Clint. I have so much admiration for what you do. Keep it up!! ♥
This is a gorgeous lizard. Looks like it's covered in polished jade. I guess on the upside, if you can afford the expensive enclosure and such, you at least get a nice lizard to interact with which is more than one can say for some of them. I think a tegu would be a lot more manageable, just because the lack of a water feature takes away an order of magnitude in cost and maintenance. I'm still inclined to think a snake would be a better choice for me though.
I love these videos. They let me know In Depth on what I’m getting into before I get into it. Thank you so much! May you do some kind of reptile room tour so we can see some examples of the enclosures for the reptiles you’ve done videos over? Or recommend breeders/rescues for the reptiles you’ve mentioned? Please?
Love your channel and your enthusiasm for reptiles! I have a 2 yr old bearded dragon and a 3 month old leopard gecko! Wish I had room for more, but I also have an African red=bellied parrot (20yr) a 2yr cockatiel, 2 6 yr budgies, ten year old Pappillion and a 4 month old albino mouse! So, I’m full!
Everyone talks about the parasites and such with imported animals but we are generally not getting these animals direct, they are coming from a reptile retailer that has or should have already taken care of those issues. I guess it is important to know who you are dealing with and ask them directly about treatment for these issues.
I've just found your channel and it's amazing, you guys are really the best, I love the effort you put in making these vids :) By the way, will you do a review about the tokay gecko? I think they are well known but poorly understood by most people.
Love your videos, only constructive criticism I would give is having more video of the animals in their enclosures, that would make your videos the best!
Would aquatic snails, such as mystery or ramshorn be a good diet for them? The snails are often a pest when in large numbers, and breeding them for food would make a great use of the culls.
Hey Dr Clint, is it possible that you could do a 5 best tortoises for pets or review smaller types of tortoises? That would be awesome! And I’m living all your videos. Thanks, Joseph W.H.
Hey Clint, I was at a pet store getting a new enclosure for my crested gecko, and they happened to have a baby, captive bred Caiman Lizard, and my mind was blown! I want it so bad!
Love your videos! It would be awesome if you made videos showing the different enclosures the reptiles need. That would help people get an idea of the size of enclosure each animal needs if someone is interested in one of the animals

I think the coolest thing about them is that they don't eat fish so if you are already an avid Aquarist you can keep them in a big Paludarium and go all out in the aquarium part.
Beautiful one of my dream lizards, with Argentine Tegu, Mexican spiny tail Iguana, Bandit Fuji Iguana, Ackie monitor, Emerald tree monitor, Australian water dragon...
Ooo, thats the lizard Kaiman from Dorohedoro is! I thought he was a crocodilian caiman drawn very weird, but hes definitely one of these guys drawn a bit less weird. Give the man his SNAILS :D
Very cool, but basically unobtainiam as they are so hard to find. If u can build a tegu enclosure, u can build one for these. A dream reptile for sure!

"...because this is a crocodile tegu made by a wizard." That may be the best sentence I've ever heard.
it also looks like the body of a crocodilian and the head of a tegu with iguana claws and tail
“Possibly the coolest lizard on Earth"
Clint, you say that about every lizard! XD Love your vids

I guess you just have to ensure they have healthy captive populations
I've recently finally gotten a connection to someone in my state who captive breeds them, and next summer i'll be ready to get a baby! it is happening
Amen you said a mouthful ‼️ we need more genuine care and compassion for these animals besides looking at them as a money symbol .

Holy moly, that's a flippin dinosaur! Gorgeous!
From jungle runners to tegu's I haven't seen any other family of lizards use their front limbs more. Very smart reptiles.
And, they have extremely strong front legs. Ours pull themselves up onto hanging branches from the ground with ease.
Damn, what a cool looking pet lizard.
Easily one of the coolest lizard species in the world but a huge commitment in terms of proper housing and care.

Clint's Reptiles I'll definitely keep an eye out for you. The next reptile show is in September I believe
I really love this lizard, it likes like a crocodile tegu cross
Another very well done video
Does it like Gyoza’s
That’s the coolest lizard ever it’s like a little crocodile with a lava colored head!!!
For sure, if I wanted a big lizard (I’m more of a snake lady), this would be the one I’d choose 😍
