I fished out of Dana Point this morning and the water temp had dropped to 55 degrees. Just two weeks ago it was 71 degrees.

So far, I am 2 for 2 with 0 keepers. I fish out of Dana Point and it has been harsh this week. Going out tomorrow and the weather and wind is supposed to be holding up much better! Tight Lines!

San Diego?
The spot has been poached out by commercials and yakkers. Certain spots have commercial traps there for weeks and if you dive, you would see several lobsters from smalls to legals inside the traps. Even the small ones have been poached and kept I've seen with my own eyes. Plus the weather changed lately and it's like 50 degrees compared to 3 weeks ago it was like 70-80 degrees. Fishing will also be tough. In this video, I can see that you fished in San Diego and hoop netted at the popular lobster spot. If you want to try again, I'd say come back in February or the last few weeks before season ends. Going lobster hooping right now at that spot is pointless unless you're at Catalina Island.

Honestly, some of the legals you've gotten tis year dont really look like legals. I would make sure a little more next time. Its not the notch by the eyes, its the horns. The legal one here you can see the eyes bulge out every time you put it in. Would hate to see you get dinged thinking one is a legal when its barely not. Most lobster that size I release even if they barely make it cause the wardens can be mean sometimes and say its not legal and give you a ticket.
