Might consider coming very early or staying late and trying the pleasure point area with fresh squid for a White Sea bass. You can use the Santa Cruz surf report to get the daily swell and high tide reports, The squid and Ice cube trick works and a few have been taken on white swim baits

Several small white sharks hang out on the beaches sunning themselves and bad encounters are pretty uncommon fortunately. October and November when the water gets dirty and big sharks travel south is when you need to be extra careful

"Let that bleed out there... attract some sharks" ... so I had asked in a previous video of yours if that has ever been an issue? Have any curious sharks bumped your kayak? Some kid got his hand bit kayaking around Catalina Island not too long ago.
Adam; to hook and set a hook in a halibut does not take much skill. But when you gaff a halibut it shows lots of calm skill in where it's placed so not to waste edible fish and also too quickly end the story. Great video and commentary. Amazing how calm the seas were.

I have luck with a 5/o hook and i have hook farther bach by tenicles and put a couple half hitches around head.
Adam, You're crazy lucky that VHF radio is not in the bay. There's so many times where I was sure it was gone!

Reel up the slack when you get a bite and use the weight of the halibut to hook itself.

I had a great white come bump my kayak in shell Beach CA.. it was a foot longer then both ends of my kayak.
