    Kudos to Adam for promoting the rules so well. He could easily turn off his camera or discard the footage so he can keep a Ling, but instead he decides to be honest and consistent. We need more fisherman like that.

    Fresh squid has always been the candy bait of SoCal. The difference it makes is immediately noticeable. Good video dude

    You can mark spots on Google Maps! The GPS will still work even without service, just make sure to mark the lat/lon coordinates.

    Hey on that first bite when your halibut fishing I learned do not set the hook just start reeling when you feel the pressure they'll hook themselves. ✊🏻🤜🏻🤛🏻👍🏻

    What size bait shark is that you are using? Do you think you can modify the hole with some netting or screen to keep smaller bait from getting out?

    Might consider coming very early or staying late and trying the pleasure point area with fresh squid for a White Sea bass. You can use the Santa Cruz surf report to get the daily swell and high tide reports, The squid and Ice cube trick works and a few have been taken on white swim baits

    What is the success ratio between live bait vs swim bait? I'm more familiar with spearfishing but new to pole fishing. Any budget friendly recommendations would be awesome. Mostly pier fishing/surf fishing/ occasional in shore fishing

      I have more luck with live bait but others have the exact opposite experience. I say use whatever you are more confident in!

    I tried to see how you rigged the weight into the main line and then the leader but it's a not so clear picture, with a swivel cannot tell it it's a 3-way deal, can you elaborate? Thanks

    I notice a trend in your videos with Halibut and how many you lose. It there a no barb regulation like Salmon? Or is it just Halibut differs to other fish enough that they can get off easier?.

      Several small white sharks hang out on the beaches sunning themselves and bad encounters are pretty uncommon fortunately. October and November when the water gets dirty and big sharks travel south is when you need to be extra careful

      The regulations restrict the use of more than one rod when targeting any rockfish/lingcod

    Hi Adam, your a way better fisherman than me but I'll go ahead and say it anyway. I'm told not to do a hook set on Halibut because they dont have tough mouths. Just thought I'd share what I've been told.

      Reel up the slack when you get a bite and use the weight of the halibut to hook itself.

    Adam; to hook and set a hook in a halibut does not take much skill. But when you gaff a halibut it shows lots of calm skill in where it's placed so not to waste edible fish and also too quickly end the story. Great video and commentary. Amazing how calm the seas were.

      @@STRIPERBAY408 Equilibrium is what economist would call the phenomenon where people see you catch fish and swarm your spot. Same thing in my traffic example. Once people see something they react and equalizes the playing field. Word gets out and you lose the secret that gave you an advantage.
