Hi Joanna! I got a couple of these traps for trumpet snails and just a heads up to people on your channel. I seemed to have done something stupid with mine - i added a few sinking pellets and a half of an algae wafer cut into pieces. I decided to leave it there for 24 hours..... I got an ammonia spike in the tank. I wouldn't haven known if not for the bubbles at the top of the water. So probably not a good idea to put junky pellets into the trap. I didn't buy the Yum Yum Snail food, obviously!. I'll try again.

It doesn’t truly ‘trap’ them, it just makes them crawl into something easier to remove quickly. You could even attach a string to it possibly? Also I don’t think they’re able to access to food too easily.

Great easy way to collect snail for puffer food and snail eating loaches.
There was one type some one use to make a few years back wished I would have bought one but the trap was a rectangular box and on each end there was black bars that hung down one the snail pushed the black plastic bars up and then once the snails got in the bars would come back down they swung only the one way and it held the snails inside the box. I believe it was called "snail collec by Sera" or something similar. The downside was putting it together as each small black bar had to be attached one at a time other than that it was the only downside I saw. And it seemed very effective your husband made a video on it years ago
    ua-cam.com/video/JLw9c9Q-Evo/v-deo.html
But they don't seem to be making them any more. I have see some diy versions on UA-cam but I still like the Sera version best.
