How to make a Big Breakfast on the Pit Boss Ultimate Griddle

- Today, it’s all about how to make a big breakfast on the Pit Boss Ultimate Griddle, and we’re putting the new Pit Boss Griddle to the test to see if it can deliver a top notch breakfast just like our Camp Chef flat top grill.
For today’s griddle breakfast, we made bacon, frozen hashbrown patties, our favorite muffin mix pancakes, and eggs two ways - scrambled with cheese and over easy.
Watch as I show you some tricks for shallow frying hashbrowns on the Pit Boss griddle, and how to keep your bacon and hashbrowns crispy and warm with a wire rack.
This was our 3rd cook on the new ceramic coated, non-stick Pit Boss griddle, and we’re still learning and testing, but so far so good.

Love the show, watch ya all the time. Now for my Big Breakfast time. At my camp, for 4 of us, Myself, Wife, 2 Boys. Start with 2 lbs bacon, 1lb sausage, 18 eggs, 2 loaves of bread, etc. etc. My oldest son is 6'5" about 250, not fat at all!!! Younger, is 6'3" about 230, and will do the same. And will do a pound of bacon, 6 eggs, 6 toast, and look for left-overs! EACH
Dang David, that like the chow hall in the Navy. That is some growing boys right there. I can assume that you dont drive a mini cooper. HAHAHA Are they athletes of some kind. Man i cant imagine that food bill either
@@TheFlatTopKing Well to be honest, my oldest, biggest is 31 years old, my youngest, is 29, spent 6 years in the Marines. Very proud of that! We are a very close family, with lots of welcome as you need type thing. Family and Friend, or who-ever. If you need, we can and will help out! No one goes hungry, for when myself and my wife, were young, it was different for us. We never went without, but was limited. Now that we can and are able to supply, we can and do as needed, to any and all!!!!

love your show and great content only thing i am missin gis smelling it and eating it
Glad you enjoy it!. I am pumped about the next two videos.
Nice BIG breakfast. From what I have with the Pitt Boss so far is that it's a little easier to clean. This unit will ne great with those folks that have issues with maintaining the seasong on their griddles. I still like my cold rolled steel Camp Chef 600 that I paid $150.00. GRIDDLE ON DUDE.
Hey how in the world did you manage that. Thats a deal. You are spot on on where the line is for some.
I bought my Camp Chef on Facebook Marketplace. I scroll the selling once in awhile and sometimes get a good to great deal. I added a hinged hard top for my GRIDDLE and I'm all set.
@@brunoloiselle2710 great find.

You r “The King”!! That breakfast looked fabulous……….
Thanks Kent
Love old glory on the tv in the background. Food looks delicious too.
Much appreciated brother
Really been enjoying these videos. I use a pair of silicone tipped tongs for just about everything when I'm cooking now, from steaks to bacon on the griddle to turning meatballs, such a huge upgrade over the spatula, especially when making bacon. Oxo makes a great long and short pair set, the long ones are nice to keep away from grease splatter
Great ideas Rick. Thanks
I wanted to know where I can get and what is the cart/table you sat at. The name on it is Yukon
Keep those videos coming. I’m liking what I’m seeing on the new Pit Boss. I’ve got a few months before I add to the new outdoor kitchen…..new Pit Boss and the Camp Chef to my son….?

Absolutely perfect American breakfast , good job, eat your heart out England 😁
hahahhahaha
Yep. Always cook the has browns in the bacon grease. Flavor. Will have to try that pancake mix. I'm still cooking on the Blackstone with the front grease trap and really enjoy it.
Good. As long as we are cooking something. Loved the bacon grease hash browns
Looks yummy.
The 3 hash browns were a little more crispy because of their placement over the burners below them.
The burners (left to right) are shaped like a digital-9 on a scoreboard (from the left knob) to two lowercase-l's for the right most knobs.
I imagine the warmer parts of the griddle is right over where the flame comes out of the tube.
The coolest part of the griddle is surrounding the grease drain all the way over to almost the burn tube controlled by the left knob.
Yeah i think you are spot on. Thats is why i think its important to find these things out before i start running my mouth about what i dont know, Thanks Brother
“ levelers” that’s what you trying to think of…lol. I’m drooling watching this video. Perfect big breakfast Neal! And you gotta have real maple syrup on pancakes! Period! Nicely done brother! Cheers y’all!

When you mentioned the shallow frying that helped sway my mind on modding my blackstone. It has the rear grease catcher and it’s a pain to use at times.
I think I am going to make it a front catch with a catch, there will be a plug of sorts that I can close to allow shallow frying.
If I do this I will take pictures and possibly a short video if I remember to.
Heck yeah brother don’t forget. Im sure people would love to share
Need to be on the lookout for a blade with a silicone edge. Nice thing I can see about the coating (a long as it remains attached) is there will probably never be a build-up on the surface - no more stink bricks.
yep.
Out frickn standing Brotha 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😋👌!! Shoot I would love to have that for my dinner. Lol…. Amy nice job sneaking 1 in 😉🤙🏼! This cook was a “True Breakfast of Champions” 👊🏼😎

Great video. My amazing woman just got me this griddle and I can't believe how amazing she is. I'm gonna be making some serious grub for the fam
That is awesome bud...congratulations
i'd like to see a pit boss after 5 years of use. i tossed all my teflon type stuff years ago. steel and cast iron takes a little more maintenance but i don't wonder where all that chemical crap goes as i eat.
How do you like the pit boss griddle. Getting mine in today.
I have reserved judgment because i am not 100 percent sold so far. I am still learning how to use and what i like and dont like. I will be doing a review in the next couple of weeks.
I like your pancake hack! Gotta try that.
Man you can use any flavor as well. Try the cinnamon muffin mix and then add burbon cream cheese icing, and syrup. thank me later.
@@TheFlatTopKing I'm like you in that I'm maple syrup all the way. We don't buy that cheap stuff. The bourbon cream cheese icing sounds good too!
You both are our favorite griddle chefs to watch. You know the right questions to ask. I know I am going to pick up the pit boss model that you are using. I like how easy it is to clean and maintain. Thank you both for opening up your deck to us. Quick question, what is that bird house looking thing with a jar hanging from it in the background? My wife and I have been trying to guess. Thanks again!
Thanks for the kind words. We have a problem with wood bees and the house is a decoy so when they try to bore a hole in it they are already there and once in they can not get out.
I love the video and I think this griddle is exactly what I’m looking for to complete my outdoor kitchen. I plan to separate the top and place it on my countertop most of the time. My counter depth is 24”. I don’t care if the griddle extends over the counter top edge as long as the front feet remain on the counter. Can I make it work?
Are you looking at the 3 burner...if so I will measure and get back to you....leave enough room as well for the lid to open and close...some dont realize that
I’m looking at the 3 or 4 burner. You are right about leaving room for the lid to open. That’s what concerns me about fitting it on a counter depth of 24”. Thanks for your help! I’m loving watching all of your videos.
You answered a couple thoughts I wondered on that Pit Boss. At first, like you, I didn't think highly of that front lip as I'm used to coming in flat at the front for flip or lift. But I got to thinkin' about the shallow fry idea, and there you go..............you answered that. Might have to do some small lumpia on that thing. The other wonder was if temp for proper egg cook was easily managed. That second over easy was right there, and the scrambles as well.
As for Ms. Amy, remind her that real maple syrup is high in anti-oxidants...........that low/no cal stuff is ..............who the heck knows?
It literally is so funny how finicky she is. low sugar syrup on a stack of pancakes.
Breakfast looks awesome! Personally I could never get used to cooking with plastic utensils, I would feel I’m pretend cooking lol
I totally agree!
Great job!
Thanks!
awesome...hell of a dad here
Miss Buttersworth sugar-free is fantastic stuff lol
This video is flat out YUM!
Thanks Brother....Hey not to stereotype but we are going to be making some hibachi later on had two ideas in mind...1 5 ingredient hibachi for beginners and the real deal. YOu have any tips or pointers...I know the name Hibachi is more teppanyaki but the idea of meat vegetables and fried rice.
Lastly I was told not to mix the idea of Hawaiian teriyaki up with asian style food...its disrespectful..Thanks in advance
I have several videos that mix and match but kinda looking for the next step per say
@@TheFlatTopKing Does your habachi have a grating or holes or is it more of the soup bowl type?
@@raychang8648 just the flat top grill i know the term should be teppanyaki but us Americans call it hibachi. Hahahahaha
@@TheFlatTopKing Teppanyaki written in Chinese is 鐵板燒, literally "steel flat-thing heat or burn."
Start with two seasoning ingredients: star anise and prickly ash (which is often called SzeChuan peppers). Season your favorite meat In a zipper bag with soy sauce and oil as needed. Star anise smells like black licorice and prickly ash is what makes your lips feel numb.
I like onions and asparagus. Save a little marinade for your veggies while cooking. Should be good.
Thumbs up for sugar free syrup, taste good and great for my diabetes, great video, although I just bought the LoCo griddle 😜
would love the feedback on the loco when you get it going...
How about your take on Huevos Rancheros? One of the best breakfasts ever. I really miss those and Migas since I moved out of Texas.
Great suggestion! I have never made it from scratch we always cheated. I will look into it.
Great video. Definitely going to try that pancake/muffin batter recipe. Any ideas on what are the must have accessories for the ceramic flat top griddles? I see the fish spatula and got some nylon scraper that the Waltwins use.
WOOD heck yeah WOOD i have some links as well...Quick tip substitute the milk for buttermilk in the batter and it will change your life.
I have a spatula video that goes in to detail the spatulas I use.
Love the video thank you question what kind of work bench are you using from Yukon
Not sure the model....we bought it from harbor freight....its help up well. In weather moisture and heat and cold
We have always used Mrs Butterworth's syrup, but when we decided to cut back on sugar we started using the sugar free version from the same name. It ain't the same, but it ain't bad. Given the carbs already being consumed it's probably not helping us all that much. By the way, kudos to you on the Safe Harbor Boys Home shirt. I think a lot of kiddos have struggled as a result of not having a male role model in their life.
Hey someone finally noticed. How did you know.
@@TheFlatTopKing I wasn't familiar with that particular organization, but it wasn't a far leap to know what it represented. I'm a little north of you here in Missouri, but we have similar organizations.
@@ddanf308 my in laws are currently parents there right now.
Can you do an experiment sometime of which flat-top holds the heat better after you put something on there? Say eggs for instance or anything else.
Yes I have a couple more to do then I plan on doing a lot of comparisons as well. I just wanted to get familiar with the pit boss first
That all looks excellent, but sad I didn't see any hot sauce on them eggs tho! Hope it was a great weekend!

62 years old and been cooking eggs forever, but never seen that butter trick. Temp difference made those over easy’s completely different! So I gotta ask does it matter if the butter is salted or not, or doesn’t that matter? BTW-I’m pretty much binge watching yer vids now! 🤣😂👍🏻
AHAHAHHA hey thats awesome...honestly nope..to me it does not matter if we the butter is salted or not...of course you may want to adjust your seasonings but..
Really enjoying your channel. Everything you cook always looks so scrumptious. Will you please provide the manufacturer name/model of the heat gun you use on the surface? Thanks much, happy cooking!
I have all my links listed below the description...should be in Must Have Section
Can you do a video of that workbench prep area?
Well i can tell you I got it at harbor freight...Lows and HOme Depot have very similar...just a tool workbench with wheels and a wood top...
Honestly I like it and I dont..I wish the insides were like a counter and not cabinet style
I can almost taste those hash browns cooked in the bacon grease.
Man what a crispy hash brown. plus a hint of bacon flavor as well
Pretty good breakfast Neil, but to tell you the truth I would rather cook on a steel griddle call me old fashion if you like cause I sure am, I wish pit boss would make the same thing only steel not coated.. But l love watching your video's I learn things from your videos.. Thank you Frank from montana.....
Thanks Frank. I dont know it just the older models or maybe this is just a difficult version but they have em. Rolled steel 4 burners.
Omg I'm Buying me a Pit Boss Grill.
Hope you enjoy....I would suggest watching my video on how I messed up my griddle to make sure you have a better start then me...
Nice job
TY frank
They make expert grill bbq grill non stick mats at Walmart. 2 pack $4.88
I saw those but the temp o. Those say 400. I was worried that the extra heat would melt em
Well, I ended up going rogue and got the Cabela 4 burner flat top. Got it only because of the price $239, and I am new at backyard cooking. I will let you know how it goes. LOL
Yes Please I would really appreciate that. On my fb group people are always asking about different griddles and unless someone has experience with them the questions go unanswered...Looks us @ The Griddle Group by the flat top king on FB
the hot to cold spots on the pitboss seems a dealbraker for me. do they have a larger size, cos i'd imagine the smaller size of the top concentrates too much heat on smaller relative areas.
They do have bigger sizes...they have also just released an updated rolled steel model
Wife watches carbs. Promptly eats pancake and hash brown. People breaking diets because of flavor is the best endorsement.
Well said...
How does it do in strong wind? Twice a year we go to the motorcycle races at Daytona international speedway and the wind is always gusting. Would like to know if you have tested in windy conditions.
If ya get this message before the other one..i commented on the other one..thanks bud
Greetings, how is the ceramic surface a year later from a perspective of it being non-stick? I find myself needing to use a good amount of oil to prevent sticking and ive only used my Pit Boss Sierra 3 burner a handful of times.
I’ve updated 3 other videos… one is 6 month review and my last one was titled how I messed up my griddle. After reading the comments it seemed more common than I thought. Ultimately the griddle failed. I stopped using it afterwards.
@TheFlatTopKing too bad...thanks for the update. One last could I season a ceramic surface in the same manner as steal? Apply oil, let it burn off, apply oil burn off and repeat?
@@Mike-zx6zr unfortunately no. I have sent people take the ceramic and have it sand blasted off and seasoned a steel top. I cant do that based on legal.. but people have contacted me telling me about it.
@@TheFlatTopKing ok, thank you. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Do you feel the ceramic coating will last as long as the grill under high heats?
Honestly I hav know clue. They are so new that only time will tell and we just dont have enough yet. I can say they have been out about a year now and I have not seen or heard anyone complaining about it. I just cant imagine Pit Boss coming out with a item that will totally destroy their reputation.
Yea

Great REAL world video!! You made my lifetime favorite meal sans the syrup, just butter for me, Thanks. I have a Pit Boss LP, pellet, and side burner combo that I just love. I'm really wanting a griddle that would work for Glamping and I'm really leaning towards the Pit Boss griddle after watching and subbing to your review content. I like a lot of the features and accessories available for the Pit Boss Any real cons to be aware of so far? Getting close to camping season here in NW Wisconsin and I love to cook for friends and relatives when we camp together. Time to get something ordered so I can have it for this season. I'd like to hear your opinion of the PB. I'm kinda OCD and would love to have "matching" outdoor cooking utensils. But not vain enough to buy something an experienced griddle king wouldn't recommend. Really liking that 3 burner unit and the individual burners. Also the grab and go aspect of it. Also would like to know what you would consider must have accessories for it. Keep up the awesome work! I gotta go know, my stomach is growling!!! :)
I am currently working on a comparison video for all three griddles. I will say now you can not go wrong with the Pit Boss ultimate griddle. Especially knowing up front it a ceramic coated surface. Give me a week to produce the video and I think i will have alot of answers for ya
@@TheFlatTopKing do you think the ceramic surface will hold up for multiple years?
@@rlfs2853 well i do know they offer a 2 year warranty. That is better than both Blackstone and camp chef who both offer a one year.
I can not honestly give a strong answer. People have had them longer than me and haven’t had a problem. I haven’t had a problem. Only time and use will tell.
You should really try coffee creamer instead of milk for pancakes. And don't add any vanilla.
I like the new intro graphic
good point i remember you saying that and i completely forgot. I will try to remember next time
Is the surface similar to Teflon? Can cause cancer and if it starts to chip or scratch you have to replace?
Not being rude but a ceramic coated surface is completely different than 20 years ago telfon...the added title of non stick makes people wary...not only has technology changed so has the reason things are non stick today...teflon and ceramic is not apples and oranges..as far as the durability goes...so far so good. I do not recommend using metal utensils ulness you know how and you would have to at your own risk but I use netl with no problems...and with that in my fb griddle group i had posted about this and took 3 different pictures of very common cookware companies that say they hve non stick cookware and metal utensils are safe
@@TheFlatTopKing As you said the word “nonstick” raises concerns. Is high heat cooking ok on this surface? Thanks for the insight!
@@EatLotsOfCurry absolutely...i hit over 500 all the time..to be more honest I have tried to sound the alarm but no one ever hears me I think its more important to use the correct oil on the high heat griddle...just my opinon
What is the table cart you sat at the end of the video
I bought it from Harbor Freight....Lowes and Home Depot have similar....Its just a tool cart with wooden top on wheels
Do you have a link for that blue spatula?
No i dont. I have looked on line and cant find it. I bought it from Kroger and the brand is called Core Kitchen. Its title is pancake turner. IF you find it can u let me know TY
Will do, thanks!
What blue spatula is that?
Its a silicone one from a grocery store I had found...I talked all about em in my spatula what spatula to use when cooking on a flat top grill....
That's what im talking about! Bad boy breakfast done right for sure! Next time save me a hashbrown 😆
Thanks for the awesome video! Mine comes tmrw! WIth every video you post on the ultimate griddle makes me more excited to get mine so thank you!
Although it's freezing in the mitten state I think I'll put it together in the garage so I can make a Delicious breakfast like yours! even if I freeze lol!
Definitely a good idea with the muffin mix in pancakes I'm gonna have to try that! Fresh blueberries are they way to go.
I was wondering if you think it would do a pizza or muffins. I see the rack you put on there I wonder if some pans would work that are safe on ceramic? Seen those grill mats wonder if those would be able to put down then a pan on top. Shallow fry brought an idea to frying on it using a disposable aluminum pan with oil in it. just wonder if it work to fry 🤔 Ive been looking at the ooni pizza oven for over a year now online and now it's on the shelf at ace.. but for 599.. glad I bought the pitt boss instead for now. Have you seen those ooni pizza ovens?
A lot to preview. First let's address the my worry. Watch my video on the fried cheese sticks and I address an issue that has come up before about deep frying on a griddle and specifically mention the aluminum pan idea.
Second. I definitely have been playing around and will be making pizzas for the first time on a video. They are incredible if you ask me. its all beverages the hood.
I have seen the grill mats and i havent found one that has enough heat requirements yet. the ones i have seen only go to 400. I would like to have 600. Yes i have had my eyes on the oven as well/. Camp chef has something similar.
Potato cakes 😂
my kids love em...
here's a brilliant tip guys, don't waste effort and time beating egg's with a fork, crack them into a clean jar, screw on the lid, shake for 5 seconds and you have perfect beaten egg's
great tip ty...
Real Natural 100% pure Maple is the only way to go. No man made synthetic stuff.

I love everything about that pit Boss except for it being a ceramic coated cooktop. Why couldn't they do the rolled steel? The price of that griddle is pretty high for that just to be a ceramic coated top and over time that is going to fail. This is not me saying I don't like your video because you did a great job and that breakfast look awesome and I wanted to like the pit Boss and I honestly thought it was just like a black stone until I saw that the cooktop was ceramic and that was a bummer. Curious to see how that holds up over time
I am just as curios...I have switched to metal utensils for light use....so far Zero problems...I think the technology is above the average ceramic coated idea..jyi

These are not plastic. There ate silicone. Make sure when purchasing these that you know the difference. Plastic will definitely melt. These silicone utensils are high temp rated. Not all are created equal. The high temp silicone utensils are typically rated for 450 degrees and higher. Thanks for commenting
Yeah I’m not feeling the plastic utensils.
I am not a fan either but to be fare.....There is a difference in plastic and silicone. Plus on my new video i teased that Pit Boss has came out with new Silicone Spatulas. I will be getting those asap to review....
Looked great except for the hash browns. I mean store bought patties? Really? You have that nice flattop griddle, all kinds of room, you should be using home made, from scratch.
yeah trying them out for the first time...we have several and I mean a ton of videos so we always try to just add something different so we don't get board ourselves..Heck we even have some hash brown only vidoes...hope you find one you like
unlimitless huh?
