I was thinking the exact same thing. When a lightsaber blade comes in contact with cortosis, it shorts out and would be useless for several minutes. In Legends, the Imperial Knights did the same thing with cortosis gauntlets.
The Cortosis was a nice touch. And nice it wasn't just a Cortosis-Weave. To which they don't short out lightsabers, only block them, this is seen in the KOTOR games. To see actual pure Cortosis short out those lightsabers was so amazing to finally see in live action.
@@malchalatihe literally only killed one jedi. One jedi he accidentally killed and the rest all died when Snoke destroyed the temple with a shock of lightning that came from the sky.
People are already trying to discredit this scene saying the other Jedi just stand around and wait to attack but thats not what they did. Qimir is constantly moving, dodging, countering with his gauntlets and helmet. They did a really good job.
You also have to remember that the Jedi aren’t exactly trained veterans anymore. Qimir has been fighting force trained people nonstop, but these Jedi haven’t fought anyone like that past their spars.
There's also the fact that Qimir had the advantage of being able to swing anywhere and hit an enemy, whereas the Jedi had to limit their swings or else they hit each other. Frankly in a scenario like that, a large group like that is actually at an immense disadvantage, the terrain favors the single combatant. Plus the fact that Qimir was experienced at fighting fully trained force sensitives, whereas the Jedi largely fought people that were either lower level force sensitives, or non-force sensitives. That and it was peace time, they got complacent, they were more space cops with weird magic than trained warriors.

Its not about failing the fight its failing the challenge he gave Mae. Qimir is not doing the challenge. If you read the Vader comics, Vader also has to do the same thing as Mae, kill a jedi without a weapon. This is because a sith's weapon is ”taken, not given”. To become a sith you need to kill a jedi, take their crystal and bleed it. It's about proving youreelf. Qimir has most likely already done this.
Sol uses Djem So mainly, his padawan more like Ataru, and all the jedi were stucked on form one. This form when not mastered is useless against Makashi and Juyo combinations

Star Wars has never really shown any characters get their heads sliced off in live action unless they are wearing a helmet. Anakin killing Dooku was the closest thing we got but even then we didn’t fully see it.
I don't recall any jedi saying anything about sith. Qimir said you might call me sith but that didn't seem to register with the jedi. And really if Lucas doesn't care about cannon why should we? Who was Obi-Wans master and why does Leah remember her mother
The Acolyte wasn't bad. Was it good? Highly debatable. Was it entertaining? Yes. Was the lightsaber combat top notch? Yes. Was the writing good? More bad than it was good. Was the acting bad? Mixed bag on that art. Was this the show that killed Star Wars? No. Did I want to see where this story was going despite it's many flaws? Yes, I wanted to know what was going to happen with Darth Plageuis and Qmir. This show was cancelled and justly so, it was not written well, and acting was very much middle ground, dialgue was also not written well either and most characters were cardboard except for Sol and Qmir. Mae and Osha were not written well at all and they did get better towards the end, especially with Osha becoming a Dark Jedi and Mae getting captured, but they were not very fleshed out in the begining. The dead Jedi characters were wasted adn the reason for the Temple fire was very stupid. How can a castle of stone and rock burn down and have massive explosions? Everything in it was either made of stone, wood, and metal. Fire can burn the wood obviously and burn it all down, but it was just a lantern fire, no extreme chemicals or radiation burns. No molten metal or molten rock, the entire sequence of the temple/castle being destroyed was not written well and having that be the crux of everything was very stupid.
I didn’t see this series but I’m really sad because these duels are great but idk why everyone hates this series. Is it so difficult for disney to have these types of duel and a story as good as the mandalorian(season1-2)?
People hate this series bc of culture wars dividing us. This show is doing things right, great visuals, interesting characters like Qimer, Sol, Jeki etc., stunning martial arts choreography and this lightsaber fight is a Chef's kiss.

it's a sci-fi fantasy show. A real sword fight would last only just seconds or minute. I'd rather watch this than a real sword fight. This show has the best live lightsaber fight to this day if you compare it's previous movies/shows.

What you think he can't block stabs attacks? They tried stabbing at his back and he just turned around and attacked them. And if they tried attacking his legs they would leave themselves open. Aside from that, the choreography is just as elaborate as the choreography in the prequels. You can't realistically criticize this duel without any of your complaints applying to prequel duels.

I feel the reason the Jedi are weaker is cuz this is the high rebuplic time era, so their order is just being rebuilt after years of hiding and being killed. So naturally the sixth who didn't have to hide during those times after order 66 could train and get stronger. And ill balance of dark and light that needs to be restored

This scene was great...my only two nitpicks are, the saber wounds are non-existent and that for a 'Sith' he wasn't delving into the darkside fully (Normal eyes and no darkside abilities)

Anakin. He was more powerful than Palaptine. Who was the most powerful Sith Lord ever. Remember this is maybe two or three generations before Palaptine. And a Sith Lord under the rule of 2 are generally more skilled and stronger than their predecessors.
While I like this fight, anakin. We still have no idea what the deal is with this guy. Who is the master, what's his plan, is he a lone wolf or is he gearing up for a bigger plan etc etc

Honestly the show warrants all its criticism, along with the creators writers and amandla, i gave up after two episodes, but clips on UA-cam show this was the most badass lightsaber fight since ROTS without a doubt, and that's what's truly MEH

It's a choreographer from daredevil. No wonder this fight is good.

The Jedi didn't know how to counter the Sith style of combat, pure rage and anything goes, no rules followed
Generation Tech did a great breakdown of the fight. Watching it, Qimer's movements make sense and his strategy is well done.

Probably Juyo built on the basis of Makashi and Niman since there was a straight up Niman move he used in there.

Honestly the show warrants all its criticism, along with the creators writers and amandla, i gave up after two episodes, but clips on UA-cam show this was the most badass lightsaber fight since ROTS without a doubt, and that's what's truly MEH
