Would the architectural salvage shop take trades from you/give you store credit? Maybe you can exchange any doors or windows that you don't use in another part of the cottage for something else?? Just food for thought!!
Don’t turn your water off, u should let it drip ever so lightly so the pipes don’t freeze! Just an FYI because I’ve gone through the same thing. Love u!
Either or. She did the right thing. As a Chicagoan I just did this, turn the water off and drained it. Especially for her since she's not living there right now, that's the simplest way to keep her pipes from freezing.
I seriously want to see a tour of your mom's current house. Lol It looks incredible. I know you said she has another one being built, but this one you're in looks like goals.
I wish we could be a thrift/flea market version of pen pals. Thrift Pals (someone make it a thing). Like so many things at the thrift stores you come across where I'm like, "omg! If I could just reach into the screen or be there right now!" And then I see things at my thrift stores like, "wow, that's exactly something she would love and would get".
I hope you and your family are well with the severe weather that has affected Texas. Lovely to see you shopping with your mom. She’s as excited as you are about thrifting!! ❤️
Hi MaCenna I’m delighted that you love shopping at thrift stores as well as antique My husband an I married in 1983 and furnished our first home exactly that way. He’s been gone 14 years and I have everything I need so shopping with you is so fun. Can’t wait to see your new cottage all decorated. Many blessings from Clovis, California.
MaCenna, I hope you read this! there is a vintage community of resellers here on YT. they have live sales on YT every day of the week, and there's even a bunch in texas. Don't know where in Texas you are but Dallas City Vintage, Vintage Uprising Tx, Vintage Conversation, Groovy Vintage, Carolina Princess sweet treats and pretties. some also have ebays, i thought you would appreciate the info!
We just finished a live edge mantel and it is beautiful. We paid $40 for the slab of Oak and cut it to wrap around our floor to ceiling electric fireplace wall. We sanded it a little and put just a couple of coats of poly on. Just enough to protect it. The piece still looks very natural and it is perfect with all of it natural imperfections. Looking forward to seeing you finish the cottage. I'm sure it will be so beautiful!
Wow. That sketch you did of the view from the entrance is so spot on (2 years later!) I am impressed with how you’ve stuck to your original idea. I would’ve changed things as I went - but then again I have no planning skills! lol
I had that Art Deco style light fixture in my first house 🥰 and loved it so much I had to search desperately for it online when I moved across country and couldn’t take it with me to my new house. I did end up finding it and hung it in the new house, a sweet memory. Seeing that you’ll have that same light in your darling new cottage made me smile 🥰
Thrifting and antiquing is something me and my mom love doing together. It’s such a fun mom and daughter time and I’m so happy we aren’t the only ones who enjoy it😊
Those corner moulding pieces, you said they were $12 each, they are available at most regular lumber stores/big box stores. No don't need to worry that they are no longer made and you must rely on vintage ones. Also one of your books, Green Darkness by Anya Seton, love it such a cool fiction.
I can not wait to watch your adventure into restoring a older home. Love your taste and choices. Will go back and see older post just saw you for the first time today.
My Mom loved those old jigs too. She had two old moonshine jugs that used to sit on our fireplace when I was a kid. Fun adventure....hope your family is safe in this horrible snow storm.
Can you 100% drain the pipes tho? Up here in the north, we leave the water running just a little bit so the pipes won't freeze. I just saw pictures yesterday of a guy in Texas who clearly had frozen pipes burst and now ice everywhere.
Did you see the faucets in Texas with the frozen water coming out of the faucet? If you have a basement, shut off the water and drain the pipes. No basement. Shut off water and open faucets, flush toilets. Cross your fingers. Antifreeze in drains if you really want to be safe.
My grandparents used to have a candy machine just like that one!!! Grandpa would put peanut M&Ms and pistachios in it, and when we would come visit he would hand us a handful of quarters 🤣🙈
I just miss those days buying and redoing a home over , I just really enjoy your enthusiasm good luck can’t wait to see what you have done with your new home
I absolutely LOVED this video MaCenna. You keep commenting on items and touching them to see price while I kept saying "she could DIY that" "she could DIY that". Love how vintage everything was.
Vintage shopping is so exciting! I love finding amazing treasures. I saw many I would love to have brought home myself. I can’t stop saying this, but this home renovation series is at the top of my fave on UA-cam right now! I am so, so thrilled for you and Romeo! 🥰
Omg those doors! I cannot wait to see your transformation of the cottage house. LOVE love love your thrift shopping videos, please keep ‘em coming! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was thinking about those doors and for $300 dollars!! That’s such a good deal for antique solid wood doors. And they match the style of your house better than new ones would. They are Perfect & Gorgeous :). Great Find
Eeeeee how exciting, the decor shopping has just begun! I’m so stoked! I love the cooler tones of the books you chose and the doors are a worthy splurge.
It’s really interesting to see that they sell jugs and pottery in Texas, that is so typical here in northern Germany. Had a little laugh about the salt n pepper shakers, because my Grandma has the same ones.😅 But here they have no value, especially if they have this beige color, because it means that they are really old and probably someone used to smoke in the kitchen ( hence why the color got beige) 😬 Don’t mean to be rude, just found it really really interesting ☺️ But you found really lovely things overall 👍🏼
XO, MaCenna Vlogs I would think with all that barn and other wood material you will be tearing down, you can make your own wooden bench and cutting board, and wooden candle holders. Loads of DIYs to come, I bet. But I love the clay pots as well.
I hope everything is okay at your house. We live in northern Oklahoma and the snow/ice storm hit us pretty good. Our water is now turned back on but it looks like Texas has been definitely hit hard. I’m hopeful it didn’t cause any damages to you all 💙
I’m so excited for this series. I hope you are doing ok in Texas weathering the storm. Thinking of you and some Texan friends here from down under. Texas was my first and only overseas travel (Tiny House Jamboree 2017) so have a soft spot for Texas.
Im loving all your main channel and vlog channel videos. It's just sad that I get caught up but it's fine, I know you have more wonderful contents coming up. Thank you for inspiring Macenna 💕 so much love from the Philippines
My grandpa past recently and we were going through my grandparents things. I found this really cool old book with the title warn off...it was a SEX BOOK from 1919!!
i am so emotionally invested in this house i feel like we are all living together
ME TOO😭😂
Couldn't have said it better myself ❤💚💜💙💛
I feel the same!
Yessss👏
I want to fast forward to the future to see the finished result and only then watch it all step by step
Would the architectural salvage shop take trades from you/give you store credit? Maybe you can exchange any doors or windows that you don't use in another part of the cottage for something else?? Just food for thought!!
It’s so cute. You can tell Macenna is spending more time in Texas as her accent is starting to come out. I want to go shopping with you x
Don’t turn your water off, u should let it drip ever so lightly so the pipes don’t freeze! Just an FYI because I’ve gone through the same thing. Love u!
she drained it, so it won't do that
THANK YOU! As a northerner I was screaming. Keep the water running!
@@idid138 but can you 100% drain the water?
Either or. She did the right thing. As a Chicagoan I just did this, turn the water off and drained it. Especially for her since she's not living there right now, that's the simplest way to keep her pipes from freezing.
Love how when she goes home to Texas a slight accent comes out 😂❤️
I think she's from Louisiana though.
Doesn't matter. You pick up a scent of an accent anyway if you hang around people long enough.
I seriously want to see a tour of your mom's current house. Lol
It looks incredible. I know you said she has another one being built, but this one you're in looks like goals.
I think she posted this already. Check out her videos
Has it been deleted?
I’m so happy that you bought this house because that means you will be making so much content 🤩
say it with me: "WE NEED MORE MACENNA!"
WE NEED MORE MACENNA
WE NEED MORE MACENNA !!
We need Macenna finding more jugs hahaha
I LOVE the picture inside that frame!!!
same!
Same here, I'm actually trying to see if I can find that image online.
I wish we could be a thrift/flea market version of pen pals. Thrift Pals (someone make it a thing). Like so many things at the thrift stores you come across where I'm like, "omg! you make me want to go thrift shopping every single day
lol, right. watched her flea market trip from a couple months back this last weekend and I've been to Goodwill twice since.
Same lol
I'm from Houston but have been living in London, and I miss antiquing with my mom in Texas so much. It has been so lovely living vicariously.
My grandmother had a little vase like yours that she used to keep toothpicks in!
When you asked Kinsley if she wanted a treat, one of my dogs barked "YES" LOL
I love that you are shopping thrift stores, antique and salvage to find treasures for your new home! 🥰
Don’t turn off the water, you need to let it drip to prevent the pipes from freezing
Yes I agree!!
she drained the water out of the pipes 1st.
Yup. Keep the water running!
@@idid138 there's not really a way to drain the water 100%. There will still be water in the pipes, which could easily freeze and crack the pipe.
I hope you and your family are well with the severe weather that has affected Texas. Lovely to see you shopping with your mom. She’s as excited as you are about thrifting!! ❤️
I really like when you go shopping with your Mum. It’s super special and I love to see it.
This is going to be so fun watching how it all comes together!!
Hi MaCenna I’m delighted that you love shopping at thrift stores as well as antique My husband an I married in 1983 and furnished our first home exactly that way. Macenna's mom on 19:34 with kinsley it's a mood 😎. Love her and this one it's an awesome video!!🥰
This came out at the perfect time I was just about to rewatch one of her other video's lol

I‘m so in love with this series!!! You’re so inspiring!
Just love your "giddy" joy with decorating your new home. Makes me smile every time. ☺
I love the relationship you and your mom have

You've got some amazing thrift stores in US. Wish we had something similar in UK
Yep, agree, our UK charity shops just don't compare to thrift stores, where you have trolleys or carts, they're huge.
That wall sconce is beautiful & will complement the architectural design in your home, perfectly.
I can not wait to watch your adventure into restoring a older home. Love your taste and choices. Will go back and see older post just saw you for the first time today.
Hi, since you’re moving, I wonder, do you still have your cat? Because I never saw him again, neither on your video or your social media. Cheers! 🍻
Love all your videos MaCenna!! I’m so excited to see how everything will turn out and I’m so excited we all get to be here for this journey!!
My Mom loved those old jigs too. She had two old moonshine jugs that used to sit on our fireplace when I was a kid. Fun adventure....hope your family is safe in this horrible snow storm.
There is an Antique Mall in Old Town Helotes just outside San Antonio that would be worth a day trip for you!!
Yes! I love going to Helotes stores! I think Macenna would really enjoy it there😊
You are a woman after my own heart. Your style for all vintage things is just how I decorate our home.
Re pipes freezing, you're actually supposed to keep the water running. Not full blast, but more than a drip.
it's ok if you drain the pipes like she did
That sounds like a waste of water. Draining the pipes works fine like she did indeed.
Can you 100% drain the pipes tho? Up here in the north, we leave the water running just a little bit so the pipes won't freeze.
I just saw pictures yesterday of a guy in Texas who clearly had frozen pipes burst and now ice everywhere.
Also, google "how to keep the pipes from freezing"
It says let the water drip....so ya keep the water running! It keeps it from freezing!
Did you see the faucets in Texas with the frozen water coming out of the faucet? If you have a basement, shut off the water and drain the pipes. No basement. Shut off water and open faucets, flush toilets. Cross your fingers. Antifreeze in drains if you really want to be safe.

Love it when you bring us along to thrift shop with you 😍🤍✨ The doors looked amazing! 🤍
I just miss those days buying and redoing a home over , I just really enjoy your enthusiasm good luck can’t wait to see what you have done with your new home
I absolutely can't wait to watch you transform this house from start to finish!!
The 50 cent vase is for cream for coffee.
I absolutely LOVED this video MaCenna. You keep commenting on items and touching them to see price while I kept saying "she could DIY that" "she could DIY that". Love how vintage everything was.
Perfect timing because I'm thrifting right now 😍
Vintage shopping is so exciting! I love finding amazing treasures. I saw many I would love to have brought home myself.

Keep the content on your house coming! It’s sooooo exciting and to see your enthusiasm is fantastic! Can’t wait for the next video!
Saw this just as I was settling in to eat a yummy snack **chefs kiss**
Me too!
Those bubble gum machines would be nice in a kitchen or dining room with beans and rice in them
I love your mom! She seems super friendly! 👏🏾👏🏾
Omg those doors! I cannot wait to see your transformation of the cottage house. LOVE love love your thrift shopping videos, please keep ‘em coming! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I love watching you shop for the cottage. Also, your mom is so cute! Love that you guys shop together
OMG that salvaged store is amazing!!! Also, that small jug is for creamer.
LIVING your JOY, MaCenna! Love all your videos. I appreciate your hard work keeping us entertained!
I cannot wait to see the house finished. I've been to Comfort and I loved it.
I was thinking about those doors and for $300 dollars!! That’s such a good deal for antique solid wood doors. And they match the style of your house better than new ones would. They are Perfect & Gorgeous :). Great Find
If you don’t already, you should check out Paige at Farmhouse Vernacular. She and her hubby are redoing an old house and it’s stunning!
I second this recommendation! Her IG is also funny!
I love how your southern twang comes out when you're with your mom!
So excited for you! A fun shopping trip.....great finds 👏👏👏
Eeeeee how exciting, the decor shopping has just begun! I’m so stoked! I love the cooler tones of the books you chose and the doors are a worthy splurge.
You can buy those corner trim blocks at Lowe's. Same design and unfinished.
First of many all the things vlogs?!?! Heck to the YES!!here for it all 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That mustard yellow whisky jug is gorgeous
Maybe you need to go back to CA flea market for some items. These stores seem very pricey
It’s really interesting to see that they sell jugs and pottery in Texas, that is so typical here in northern Germany.
Had a little laugh about the salt n pepper shakers, because my Grandma has the same ones.😅

Love all your finds! ❤️
I actually really like the picture in the frame as well.
Watching you on this adventure makes me so so sooo happy 🥰🥰🥰
Living vicariously through you! Can’t wait to see how your new house turns out.
You are so adorable. I congratulate y’all on your new purchase, I’m in love with it.
I am loving watching your progress on this project. Love your style. Can't wait to see the finished product. Have fun!
So sad that I can’t go buy anything because here in Germany everything’s in Lockdown
XO, MaCenna Vlogs I would think with all that barn and other wood material you will be tearing down, you can make your own wooden bench and cutting board, and wooden candle holders. Loads of DIYs to come, I bet. But I love the clay pots as well.
All those antique doors make my heart go pitter patter ❤️
So fun watching you get excited, like a kid in a candy store.
love, love, LOVE your shopping & haul vlogs!! Makes me want to drop everything and run to a thrift/antique shop!
I hope everything is okay at your house. We live in northern Oklahoma and the snow/ice storm hit us pretty good. Our water is now turned back on but it looks like Texas has been definitely hit hard. I’m hopeful it didn’t cause any damages to you all 💙

thank god for the new house! I LOVE your videos.
Such an endearing personality
Your parents home looks amazing! Can’t wait to see what you do with your new house!
I LOVE THE SALT AND PEPPER SHAKERS WITH THE BLUE FLOWERS......I WANT A SET TOO......
Maybe I'm weird but I LOVE that painting that is in the gold frame. I think it's the colors and I love arches and palm trees!
Texas is so high priced on antiques. Take a trip to Missouri, much cheaper. And don’t forget estate sales, go on last day 50% off.
Those live edge wood pieces had me drooling 😍
Omg the black iron mirror 😩
I know, right? How could she pass that up?? 😆
The huge yarn spools 🤤 are you kidding #gimme
Love your enthusiasm. And the tiny little vase, of course you had to get it! It’s the vase version of Kinsley!
I'm so glad you got those doors!!!!
Can you start listing the names of the stores you go to? I live in Texas and I’m trying to take screenshots of the signage lol
I enjoy your videos. Thanks for taking us along.
Keep on shopping you have a great eye happy house renovating
Kinsley is just the goodest girl 😍😍😍😍😍
Im loving all your main channel and vlog channel videos. It's just sad that I get caught up but it's fine, I know you have more wonderful contents coming up.
Thank you for inspiring Macenna 💕 so much love from the Philippines
My grandpa past recently and we were going through my grandparents things. I found this really cool old book with the title warn off...it was a SEX BOOK from 1919!!
Cool find
Love that FRAME! Looking forward to coming along on this journey with you for the cottage.
I love your finds in Texas! Especially the doors for you cottage! Being a native Texan, I really enjoy when you are in Texas❣❣
