Do NOT add brass, looks stunning without it !! More accurate to the style and era that it’s from without :) I LOVE the brass candles and brass plate that you have. So timeless
I think you’ll appreciate the layout of the couch if you put a sofa table behind it to ground the space. Because honesty I love it in front of the tv like that
@@XOMaCenna your video is like Rituals. I always check if there is any new videos. Please more Vlogs. Love you very much and your mama. I'm from Saudi Arabia ❤
Hi MaCenna. I'm Australian. That style of furniture was everywhere here about 10 - 20 years ago. We called it the Balinese style. Many people holidayed in Bali and a lot of these hand-carved furntiure pieces came back and were very popular, especially in warm climate houses open to the heat and breezes.
The "Bali Style" was modelled on furniture trends from around the world. I knew a furniture retailer in Sydney that took photos and ideas to Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, India and Thailand in the 80s, the pieces were good, but fakes. Her "exclusive" boutique in Edgecliff sold out every delivery. Nothing is new. McCenna's table is a local hand made table, not a knock off. It's Spanish inspired.
PERFECTION ✅ I think a sofa table, behind the couch will add definition to the entry. Nothing new, nor that wooden plank one that everyone is using. I love funded used solid furniture pieces to complete my rooms. Saw an amazing odd piece yesterday that I’m contemplating. I click on your videos the second I see them! I watch on my grandson’s acct. on my tv. I come back here to comment.
For remotes and things you don't want out all the time (and that go missing!!), a cute box or basket stowed underneath on the base of the table could work :)
MaCenna!! I am so inspired by the way you slowly, intentionally design each space. Waiting for the right piece to come along instead of just buying the first thing you come across and "settling." You embody the phrase "home takes time" and prove how worthwhile it is to be patient
My mom’s family were carpenters and furniture makers in Texas. When working houses or furniture for people they would frequently save good pieces of wood from the trash. Your table reminds me a bit of some pieces I have that my great grandfather saved from a house that was being gutted. He just put everything together, added some parts that he made, and made a new piece of furniture. Parts of your table remind me of banister spindles.
I think adding the brass decor items to the table looks so much more elegant, especially the first set up with the candlesticks. The feel like the brass strips gives the table a cheap 70's vibe.
Oh my gosh! When the coffee table almost fell over, I had ptsd & flashed back to when Drew’s stained glass door fell over! It is such a beautiful table. I am so glad you brought it back to life! ❤
I am so so excited for you to trim out the windows, the door, and the wainscoting 😍 I think it might sound boring but it’s those things that just make a room feel finished, can’t wait!
No to brass inlay. Final look is beautiful, great size of table and love the layout with couch facing fireplace, it serves as a natural divide between the living room and kitchen. Lovely livingroom space, has turned out wonderful!
I agree with Colette, no to adding brass, yes to brass accents. Table looks great with the trim you added, it was just the right amount of detail and seems like it belonged there all along. Perfect buy, perfect size for the space.
IF you keep the living room with the sofa where it is - I think a sofa table behind it would look really nice - you certainly have the space for it! And you could have a bowl or something to drop your keys in when you come thru the door? Just a thought! Coffee table looks great MaCenna - I like it straight wood with no brass. The trim you added looks like it was always there. As you said I think brass decor on the table will do the trick!! Also on the wall opposite the windows, next to the French doors - I was thinking a large mirror would look really nice hung on the wall to reflect that great light. Or I suppose even a large leaning mirror could work? One last thing I thought -tho you probably want to keep the bottom shelf- but I think the coffee table would look really nice without that bottom shelf so you could see those great chunky legs right on top of your beautiful rug!
I agree with you Jack…a table hugging the back of the couch would be great…it’s a large empty space when you first enter the house …a table would deal with that nicely and be very functional.
You do what you feel is right for your home! I think the trim would be lovely! You are indeed the professional when it comes to all things decorating (literally!) and now you are armed with your construction skills! Don’t listen to the naysayers they don’t live in your house, YOU DO! Some people tend to overstep from their sofa and cellphone unfortunately lol! Love your work!!
Beautiful!! The color is so perfect for the space! I think it would look so cute if you added little furniture bun feet to it to give it a cutie cottage feel!
Hi McKenna! First time commenting! Like the way the coffee table turned out. As for brass, I wouldn’t put it on the top, but wonder if you could put it on the side, just under the curve of the edge of the table top. More subtle but gives it that bling that you are looking for. The furniture arrangement you ended up with, the couch facing the fireplace, is the best for the flow and for that space. As another comment mentioned a console table behind the couch will help anchor things and give you a flow from the entrance to put things down. Like your channel and enjoying the process of diy and decorating both of your homes!
I love the trim you added to the top, it defines the table space so nicely! That bring said I think it's perfect as is without the added brass because you've styled it with brass decor.. your living space is coming together so beautifully and I can't wait to see the finishing touches!
I love those armchairs - they look good from all angles so ideal for a living room. The lightness balances the weight of the table and the sofa. They'd be wasted in the bedroom
Regarding the style of your coffee table: you're right, it does have several different stylistic elements, but overall I'm leaning toward saying it's Spanish Mission Style. Most people think this is only a style of architecture, but it's not. Spanish Mission Style usually (but not always) features very chunky legs, dark stain, and hand carved detailing. That's my best guess! Also, if you ultimately decide you do want to add brass details, the Spanish Mission Style does often incorporate brass or bronze brads arranged into linear patterns, so that's an option.
I never comment but I couldn't not comment on this one. I have been watching you for years and have always felt like you're a friend (genuinely forgetting you don't even know I exist lol), but I started listening to your podcast the other day for my 2 hour daily drives, and I genuinely feel like I'm listening to a friend. Thank you for the light you bring to mine and so many other lives. Sending love from Melbourne, Australia 💛💚
MaCenna, for really rough pieces of furniture, you can use 00 steel wool with the Restore-a-Finish. It doesn't scratch but really gets an even finish and pushes things into every ding.
I actually have never done just a paper towel- for all wooden furniture I do 0000 steel wool dipped in restor-a-finish. That’s how I learned about it- it cleans and buffs the wood as it restores it and always looks gorgeous after
Reminds me of Jacobean style furniture…chunky, heavily carved and dark stained. I dare ya to look it up, you may just find a new obsession in furniture style. I love how ornate that particular style is. The table is beautiful! I appreciate people who take old things and reimagine a new life for it.
With the brass for sure. It will go from, "That's a nice looking coffee table" to "That's a great coffee table!" Also, your dog barking at the nailgun was so adorable.
I think the coffee table looks fantastic in that room. I can see where you were saying you needed something "chunky". And I agree that you can just accessorize with the brass decor. And I really like how you broke up the space with having the couch facing the fireplace. I think that helps to define that space.
You’ve been talking about wanting brass on your coffee table for MONTHS and yes it could be too much but also, I love the sort of old library look it gives the table plus it’s your own custom design! Even with brass decor on the table, idk I’m all for it!! YES to brass ❤
It already looks gorgeous! But I think the brass detail sounds intriguing! I have to admit I was a little on the fence about the coffee table style but as always, once you blessed it with your golden touch, I love it! Thank you for including us, you work so hard! 💕
Absolutely obsessed with the coffee table, the small framing you added is so beautiful!! I personally wouldnt add brass to the table, I think it looks stunning as is with the brass accents. It looks so classy and timeless
I’m glad you mentioned how the polycrylic spray just isn’t that great because omg I’ve tried it so many times and it always gives me a terrible finish! Just an FYI for anyone who thinks it might make their project go a little quicker- it won’t!!! Thanks MaCenna for mentioning it, because it made me doubtful about trying to apply it with a brush, but glad that works!!
At first I liked the brass detail but after seeing the styling I think it looks elegant as is and prefer 26:05 decor. Great work on finding this piece and stain matching
I know you are a dog person, but I love that you have "guardian kitties" outside. You can tell they've put their paw of approval on the coffee table. So sweet! (2:03-04 ish)
The brass just needs to be more distressed I think to fit in with all of the other old elements 😊 LOVE the coffee table in the space. You truly have created something amazing here
Can’t wait to see the living room come together with trim and curtains! 🫶 Sidenote: worried the other items on the edge of your porch will be exposed to rain? Consider covering the wood and your table saw with tarps or some sort of cover please!
Coffee table looks amazing and I think the arrangement of the furniture is best as it is!! Not sure if you plan on adding a console table behind the couch but that could be a good moment 😊
It is absolutely gorgeous! I love the extra wood trim, but agree that it doesn't need the brass. It looks classic without, and it might just be the camera, but it almost looks like a strip of yellow from afar. LOVE this living room!
No to brass and I love the hydrangeas on the yellow book and the brass tray with the 3 candles. The balance is wonderful and it’s simple. Beautiful too
Yes 🙌🏻 now it’s going to be a good day… so excited for this video. You are such an inspiration & role model MaCenna. My young niece watches all your vlogs, podcasts. Thank you for being so amazing.
It look stunning in there wow! I loved seeing your slow design pace, adding and taking away items. I felt like I was watching a friend getting me to help them style their space haha it was lovely thank you. I think I prefer the 3 grid you did for the coffee table because there are already lots of pairing elements repeating in the room. So beautiful, can’t wait to see all the trim go in 😊👍🏼✨
Looks very nice with the trim detail. Perfect touch. Love the room set up that way. Can’t wait to see the wainscoting and trim get stain Ed and put up. It’s coming together nicely. I love your linen outfit, btw. You look beautiful!
I think painting the wooden ribbed details brass on the side corners of the table could bring that brass element as well. But making it more of distressed patina brass than a bright freshly painted one lol. Love how solid and grounding it is in the space
I think if you add the brass trim on the coffee table it will start to look like a picture frame (like a diy where someone takes a picture frame and attaches it to a table). I really like your idea of using a big brass tray on top. That will give you way more brass than you'd be able to add the to coffee table.
Do what you want to do…I think either way looks good…and on the coffee table you always figure out if something goes wrong and you know what to do…and the match of the stain was awesome combining the two colors…you make everything look so easy which I know is not the case…I so much LOVE watching you with your projects!!! I look forward to seeing your next one!!! Thanks again for another AMAZING video!!! ❤😊
Suggestion: if you want to add a touch of brass detail to the table and add the strips on the sides between each of the existing edge decorative details that appear on the sides (top portion on each sides). This would require you to router between each segment and inlay them. Especially since your strips are 3 feet long, you’d be able to use them on each of the sides, and trim them for each end. Glue and tap them into the grooves edge. This way everyone could see the pinstripe brass inlay detail from each angle, more so than if applied to the top.
I think a sofa table behind that couch would be great, and also you could put the poofs up against the windows like a window seat almost, and kinsley could bask in the sun 🌞
You keep moving your living room furniture and trying new layouts. It's perfect where It is. You only need a skinny and tall table on the back of the sofa. That's what is turning you off. Your living room is looking more and more gorgeous. Can't wait to see It with trim
So fun to see the living room coming together! The coffee table is rich and beautiful. I'd definitely keep it as is and add in brass elements through decor. It's all looking so beautiful!
Absolutely can’t wait to see the whole living room come together! I was just thinking in my head, “I wonder when she’s gonna finish the trim around the windows and door?” And you said it would all come together soon I was like oh YAY!! ♥️🫶🏽
I love how your coffee table turned out! I never would have thought to put trim pieces on the top. I’m glad you decided not to use the brass trim…I like how you incorporated brass in with your decor piece instead. I absolutely love your style…it’s so soft, classic & timeless.
I think the coffee table would look great with a piece of tempered glass to fit in the top area where you framed it out! It adds a little extra without adding something too contrasting like the brass.
You are such a diligent worker and so patient….a lot of work but the coffee table looks great. I personally like it without the brass trim. To me the brass makes it look too busy. The living room looks very cozy and well styled.🥰
The coffee table cleaned up nicely. Like the stained trim. No to adding the brass trim! Looking forward to seeing the last details of this space come together!
Do NOT add brass, looks stunning without it !! More accurate to the style and era that it’s from without :) I LOVE the brass candles and brass plate that you have. So timeless
Thank youuuu I was thinking the same that it was just too much!
the brass trim plus the bass accents it's a lot. I also like only wood and brass tray
Totally agree!
Agreed!!!
I'd love to see short, squat round ball feet on the table, 3inch maybe. If they were brass, even better. 😊
I think you’ll appreciate the layout of the couch if you put a sofa table behind it to ground the space. Because honesty I love it in front of the tv like that
No to brass, it is beautiful without adding more, like you said you can add decor for the brass color. It looks lovely.
Thank youuuuuuuuuu
No brass
Agree..no brass! It looks great as it is! 😍

I have a box that looks like a book for these items.
So happy you found your coffee table. I vote for just the trim on the table, no brass. The brass decor is perfect!
MaCenna!! I am so inspired by the way you slowly, intentionally design each space. Waiting for the right piece to come along instead of just buying the first thing you come across and "settling." You embody the phrase "home takes time" and prove how worthwhile it is to be patient

I was thinking the same thing! It does look like an amalgamation of several components. Could it possibly have had feet at some point?
A slim table behind the couch would look really nice~!
No brass! It looks classy and timeless with the added stained trim! Great job!!!
Kinsley in the window is EVERYTHING!
Table perfect just as is. Great idea to add brass decor on the table
I think adding the brass decor items to the table looks so much more elegant, especially the first set up with the candlesticks. The feel like the brass strips gives the table a cheap 70's vibe.

Also, absolutely no need for that bottom shelf …the legs would pop and a little less bulk would be fine!
If she took off the bottom, she could make the bottom shelf into a top for a sofa table behind the couch by cutting it in half long ways.
Yes, a mirror & sofa table sounds wonderful. A different accent it really needs. And like you said so much space behind the sofa.
Great idea Deanna! Use the bottom of the coffee table to make a thin entry table by cutting it in half!

Beautiful!! The color is so perfect for the space! I think it would look so cute if you added little furniture bun feet to it to give it a cutie cottage feel!
I prefer without the brass. But if you like it, that’s all that matters! Your designs always look phenomenal 😊
Voting no on the brass trim. The brass accents like candle holders will be perfect! Love it!
No to brass!! Looks beautiful with just the trim, and like you said, you can always add brass decor :)
Mediterranean style coffee table? I love that rustic style that lends itself to warm and both cool colors! It's a beauty!!
I thought the same. Maybe Indian style too.
Do without the brass trim and just decorate with brass!
Agreed!

Watching MaCenna and Kinsley are my favorite Sunday ritual! 🌞
Awwww thank youuuu
Same. Makes me so Happy and helps to relax.
Brass alone and actually and literally inlaid would be stunning but just along side the trim.....no. it's all so gorgeous!!!
No brass. I think your wonderful brass decor will bring the look you are after. Love your channel❤❤❤
“Sand in-between“ should be your tagline!! ❤❤
The coffee table looks great! I like it w/o the brass detail. I vote for the 1st styling of the table.
Reminds me of Jacobean style furniture…chunky, heavily carved and dark stained. I dare ya to look it up, you may just find a new obsession in furniture style. I love how ornate that particular style is. The table is beautiful! I appreciate people who take old things and reimagine a new life for it.

Love the work on the table! I think it is stunning as is. Add the brass in with decor.
You’ve been talking about wanting brass on your coffee table for MONTHS and yes it could be too much but also, I love the sort of old library look it gives the table plus it’s your own custom design! Even with brass decor on the table, idk I’m all for it!! YES to brass ❤

Thank you so much!!
I think the wood trim was the PERFECT addition!!! It really looks amazing in your living room. What a solid piece!! ❤
The spray works well on small pieces.
I love you Macenna! I vote no brass, looks stunning as is.
I noticed the paw prints when she bought the table...I think the kitties were from the original owner! 😸
The added wood trim is perfect, no brass. Just style the table with brass accents. Love your videos, so calming and inspiring.
The brass just needs to be more distressed I think to fit in with all of the other old elements 😊 LOVE the coffee table in the space. You truly have created something amazing here
I agree that a sofa table would be so helpful to complete the room. So much fun to see it come together. OH, perhaps a floor lamp?
Thank you for using, incorporating upcycled pieces and saving them from the landfill. Your style is impeccable! So beautiful. 🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Can’t wait to see the living room come together with trim and curtains! 🫶
Sidenote: worried the other items on the edge of your porch will be exposed to rain?
Beautiful too
Love the coffee table. The trim is enough. I would add a large antique looking basket. It's the perfect coffee table ❤
I think I prefer the 3 grid you did for the coffee table because there are already lots of pairing elements repeating in the room. So beautiful, can’t wait to see all the trim go in 😊👍🏼✨
No to the brass trim, looks great with the brass styling pieces. Loved the first styling option best, with the larger vase and flowers 🤎
I agree!! The trim is good and no brass. So happy you found your coffee table😍😍😍
The coffee table looks PERFECT! although, I think the brass trim would look nice.
Love how solid and grounding it is in the space
ya that's what i thought too
That’s what I thought too!
I think what you need is a nice console table behind the sofa. You could dress it with lamps, books or plants. Would look classic!
The table looks really great as it is, and you've styled it perfectly. So no to the brass, I think it would be too much.
The best part is Kinsley's little bark every time you pulled the brad nailer!
I think if you add the brass trim on the coffee table it will start to look like a picture frame (like a diy where someone takes a picture frame and attaches it to a table). I really like your idea of using a big brass tray on top. That will give you way more brass than you'd be able to add the to coffee table.

I love your patience to find things. I love how you explain your thought process and show us what did not work and why, I am learning so much!
No brass trim. Love the way it looks. Thank you MaCenna
I love how large the coffee table is. And I love how the couch is set up originally.
I love all of your videos! I think if you put brass elements on the table it’s fine
Omg, Kinsley in the window watching you at the start of the video 😭💕💕💕💕💕
Love the table by itself. If you really wanted more brass, maybe just little trim corner pieces could be a nice balance with your accessories. 😊
I love that idea. She has those gold corner pieces she got from some estate sale to DIY frames.
I love the second try decorating the table, how you said brass, brass, brass ❤
I think a long entry way table behind the couch would look really nice. Break it up so you don’t just see the back of the couch from the kitchen
Can't wait to see It with trim
ooh I like that idea!
The trim really does add to the coffee table. It's also a practical addition - a border to reduce the risk of coffee spills staining the rug beneath.
No Brass the table is beautiful as is.
And easier to clean and not get condensation rings.
I agree with all the ladies no brass. It looks stunning with just the trim and all the beautiful decor you've added Macenna ❤❤ love it awesome job
I would say “no” to brass. I would add brass with the decor.
Rearranging your coffee table decor - hours of fun!
I wouldn’t add the brass to the table it’s self, I’d go with adding brass decor. It just doesn’t go well with it in my opinion.
You are such a diligent worker and so patient….a lot of work but the coffee table looks great. I personally like it without the brass trim. To me the brass makes it look too busy. The living room looks very cozy and well styled.🥰
NO Brass!!
I love what you did to the table, MaCenna! No brass is my vote. It looks stunning in your space as is.
The coffee table cleaned up nicely. Like the stained trim. No to adding the brass trim! Looking forward to seeing the last details of this space come together!
No brass would be my vote as well. I like the design of only the book flowers and candles. Cleaner looking. It is a nice table
That trim detail on the coffee table is perfect! Nothing else needed. Tfs
I love the coffee table. It’s so unique and perfect in your space. Doesn’t need the brass trim. ❤
