- What else to do with your old 90s Monopose Space Marines now? Convert them or kitbash them of course.
I've had these for years, now I'm just trying to do something I haven't done with them before.

I only got into 40k around 5th ed or so but these videos feels nostalgic for something I've never had.
I'm glad they serve some purpose 😁 thanks buddy
Plasma weaponry has always filled me with Christmas cheer. Always appreciate a bit of kitbashing. The bits box is the best part of the hobby :)
Aye it is. Thank you.
Looking brilliant. Remember kids keep your spare bits
Great advice 🥰
Love it. I remember scrambling around trying to find different loose melta guns and plasma guns for my marines. Bits box soon becomes a bits hoard.
It really does. Cheers.
I really appreciate that your hobby mat is a mess. I always feel insane seeing other creators with their perfectly clean mats. Mine has paint all over it and a couple nicks.
Just telling it how it is. Honest hobbying. No frills. Cheers buddy.
They look great - they fit in perfectly with their monopose brethren, almost as if they're minis from some alternate timeline where GW decided to go all-in on plastic marines in 2nd edition rather than 3rd and made a whole line of variations of the monopose trooper.
😍 thanks
Loving the work. I'm fairly sure the lascannon is originally rogue trader imperial guard.
Ah that's where it is from. Thank you.
Back in the days when an Imperial Guard support squad would rock up in a Rhino and out come 4(!) lacannons and a missile launcher :
Binge watched all your videos on my tv. Just now getting around to subscribing on my phone. This is my favorite new UA-cam channel.
Yes Zach. Thank you. And you are my new favourite subscriber 😃
I recently got my hands on some of these monopose marines in a job lot and now feel better about modifying them with modern bits as some were damaged or missing weapons. Specifically I have one of the bazooka marines who lacks a back pack and bazooka. Figuring out what weapon to give him is going to be neat. Thanks for the inspiration!
Sounds like a cool project. I hope it goes well. 😊
I thought the old style had gone ugly on me, but seeing an army not just individuals totaly brought back that sense of aww and that's coolness, reaffirming my memory is true, ty
😁 thank you
God I love flames on plasma weapons
nice
In the,"90s a lot of blister packs had plastic sprues with various gun's, such as plasma, flamers and auto gun's, often with a single mini you 'll had a lot of weapons.
Back in the day, I ended up cranking out at least a company each from each chapter...
Great Call on those weapons bits!!
I went with pink plasma on my pistols and rifles. It compliments a red blaster nicely and doesn't get lost. 😉
Lovely work once again! I agree it always pains me when using old kits like these, especially for kitbashing, but the end result was worth it here!
Yeah I think so. Thanks 😊
THANK YOU ! in my world they will exist too for ever! =)) yes they look verry good! AND will fight as good as ever! =) )
so good to see what you made out of this glorious boys!
greetings from germany
...just found a boy with blistered metall Orks too =)
Hey. Glad you liked them. Thanks.
@@Miniscape-wh40k i like it like it YES i doooo... i have that box with that red Space Marine Captian(?) on the cover, paintet them that time blue... i will try to get them like your state of the ART ! =)
please keep on with this stuff to show !
CU
Love these lads. Was a little sad to see you used the newer plasma guns, but being recent to the hobby, really excited to see some of the older models and how cool they looked. Love the charm of these older models.
The only older plasma I had wasn't in great condition so I opted for the new one.
Trouble is the era-appropriate plastic plasma gun from RT doesn't really resemble the plasma guns seen on 2nd ed metal Marines - so the newer bit is paradoxically more era-appropriate!
@@Miniscape-wh40k Ah, that's also understandable.
@@StephenGraves funny how that works out, that's neat tho!
Thank you sir! As always, thorougly enjoyable. I actually liked your first Veterans better with the Tac Sqd Arrow insignia. When GW released their first Mk VII hybrid models, they also published a painting guide, probably in a WD (no idea which number). It is reprinted in the book Compilation. It gives a variety of colour/marking schemes for Ultramarines, Blood Angels and Dark Angels, including Tactical Veteran Sqds in Power armour for all above mentioned Chapters. I bought the box, Strike Force, and as I was heavily into Space Hulk at the time, I found that a force of Tactical Power Armoured veterans to back up my Terminators was just perfect. As a side note: The Ultramarines used a three colour scheme, Armour in Ultramarine blue, right shoulder in light blue and shoulder trim, Aquila and bolter casings in white. Company colours were indicated on the right arm. (excepting 1st Coy which had white helmets of course) All the best, B
Looks like I can never get it right with insignia 😅 anyway thanks mate
I had that same brand of glue when I was a child assembling these same monopose marines! 😮
🙌
I really like the oldhammer miniatures.
They also like you 😉
It’s interesting that modern plasma uses the 2nd ed Chaos rules for plasma, which could fire every turn but had a Gets Hot rule to represent that these were more “aggressive” but unstable plasma designs from the Heresy that Chaos Marines still had and preferred using over “modern” Imperial technology
Ah cool. I didn't know chaos plasma had that. Cheers!
Legion of the Damned had that rule too, since they were ancient and mysterious.
Great job converting your Space Marines. They look Bad Ass!!!! I like the retro painting style too. Keep having fun.
Bill
Thanks Bill
8:24 oops all my games including in the shop i never knew/realised about the recharge rule for plasma guns, i always thought it was just for the hvy plasma.
Ah well. We all forget something from the rules. As long as you had fun.
Oh if only i could post pictures of how I went about desecrating that iconic silhouette when i took the handful or two of 2nd edition marines i have and started chopping the heads off and drilling out the torsos to fit the balljointed heads and getting rid of the larger hands...raising the height of the torsos a fraction of an inch so they wouldn't look too different size wise to my largely 3rd-7th edition force etc.and replacing them with newer helmets and hands.........bolters....backpacks.....you name it.....I feel some of you may want to cause me some physical harm over it lol
Regardless i think these look really cool! Nice work Matthew! Cheers!
Well that sounds awesome. And thank you.
Excellent video
Many thanks
Really enjoyed the video, more please!
Yessir!
Your videos are like potato chips,, I can never stop with just one!! Keep up the great work!
That's kind of you. Thanks.
Nice work! 👏
Good to have some extra spicy weapons in case those pesky Tyranids ever come back!
Cheers. *Shakes fist at the sky*
I’m just here for the music 😂
Nah these are really cool though, nice work
Great. Can't tell if you actually like the music or not 😄
@@Miniscape-wh40k I like the music, it feeds the retro vibe. The production on these videos is top notch. Really enjoying your content
@@jamieclifford5491 thanks. I'm glad. I know there's improvements to make in audio and video quality. I'll get there eventually.
3 notes for unique single model, ahhh the good old days, your new bits cost more now😮
Lovely
Thank you
Thank you
That lascannon looks like it's from an Imperial Army model.
I think it is
Hmmmmm don't mind if I do 😊
#METALAF!
hey man, i just saw your video about your dream ultramarine army and in this video you mentioned those armyboxes.. now, just a couple of weeks ago i painted up some old 2E Plague Marines and i was wondering if such an huge Army Box was available for Chaos Space Marines aswell? Maybe you know about it. i tried to find pictures or infos about it but they are so rare ..someone on dakkadakka said one existed but i couldnt find definit proof.
I can't say I recall if one existed but if I ever come across it I will be sure to send you a link.
I'd like to get started on my project for doing what you're doing, but for the Warhammer Fantasy 4th edition.
High Elves vs Goblin, with goblin green base, era appropriate paint schemes and terrain.
What products do you use for the terrain ground, not the bases? Is it a scatter flock? Looks so cool.
Thanks.
Yeah green scatter flock. My pot is ancient. I am sure you can still buy it though. Even if it was make for model train terrain.
@@Miniscape-wh40k I remember nearly all terrain was for model railways. Cheers
Really appreciate you work here! Just wondering the blue you use? I try to use same as Calder sky but seems really dark compared to you outlook, dont know why
You're welcome. My paint is old. Not sure if that makes a difference. I think it doesn't matter if your blue is slightly different from mine, as long as the look of your troops is fairly consistent
@@Miniscape-wh40k thank you! Keep you awesome work!
Randomly I've got 6 assault marines from 3rd edition, mainly plastic aside from a right lightning claw converted and a metal jump pack, only missing a gun from 1 hand and a plasma pistol arm on one, all with plasma chainsword, you can have them if you want, no real interest in marines and I'm buying bugs tomorrow, I have too many bugs to paint and bg3 and starfield have taken up my time lol.
That's very kind mate. Can we continue this conversation via email? I think my email is on the channel somewhere but you may have to use a browser. Thanks.
@Miniscape-wh40k yeah that's no problem but I can't seem to find your email, I'll make a throw away email tomorrow and message you back.

is it a 2nd edition army without space crusade weapons and figures ;)

In second edition were veterans forced to be in the first company? White trim is for them, yellow/gold is for 2nd, 3rd is red and 4th is green.
You have the colours correct. The codex says veterans are first company.
@@Miniscape-wh40k Cool. The rules have changed now then as the other companies can have vets too. :)
@@jaanikaapa6925 Must be a fairly recent addition?
Like... the last 2-3 editions lol?
@@kristianjensen5877 Yup. At least from 9th ed you could use bladeguard vets anywhere. In Ultramarine ranges if you see blue and white trim in the packaging they're meant for the 1st company only. The rest is painted in the colours of the second. As of Indomitus crusade Ultras are no longer a codex compliant chapter either. They've got the companies 1 through 10 and scouts on Macragge, but they also have 500 primaris more as fleet based only. They're all Martian born/created. Won't be burried on Macragge but will have their ashes scattered in space.
And fifth is black.
well looks goood to me but hare a think who moes the lawns in 4ok or enny war game ???? just a think see the nest vid
Ha. They probably get the servitors to do the lawnmowing. Thanks buddy.
Do more please?!
More videos?
@@Miniscape-wh40k marines and videos. Lol
Whats the book at 2:43?
2nd edition wargear book that came with the starter set
Man, this channel IS GREAT! BUY A BETTER MIC and put up bed cover/blankets/duvets on your walls for better sounds quality.
Thanks. We'll see. No need to shout 😉
Am i right in thinking a shoulder mounted heavy Bolter is out of the question? Is it not retro enough brother Matthew? Does it offend your sensibilities brother? Or is it something darker?........Much darker?🤔 All i know is, if a swarm of nids is fast closing in and a 90's Tyranid Warrior suddenly charges you, wielding a Bone Sword and blasting away with it's Death Spitter! You're going to wish you had that shoulder mounted heavy Bolter brother.😬
I already have two brother, and a tarantula brother. Could I have more? Yes. But the aim was to have something new.
@@Miniscape-wh40kHow about kitbashing a Marine throwing a Multi Melta Grenade? Perhaps in his other hand he could be holding a Plasma pistol, lowered but still ready? Or perhaps i'm getting far to carried away again?🤔Who knows? But when i think about it, all i can hear in my mind is the song "True Survivor" from Kung Fury🧐
@@thewanderingfool4435 it's a cool idea but it might be beyond my skills
@@Miniscape-wh40k I'm sorry brother Mathew for always demanding more😂 It's just your content is addictive. By the way, it's not beyond your skills, never underestimate yourself brother! Those two kitbash Marines came out great👍
@@thewanderingfool4435 very kind my friend. I'm glad my toil in making miniatures and videos is not in vain.
I started to collect 2ed Orks because of your videos. I hate you now.
You're welcome 😆
Hearsy, utterly heretical. The desecration of sacred relics is vile hearsy, kill the blasphemer 😂
