Imo the devs stopped supporting the deep sea server a loooong time ago. No way in hell would the server look like that if there was even remotely any dev involvement in the past 50 mil years smh...
i thought it was where they stuff all the wierd things that won't fly in standard servers.
They just sort of come up with shit and throw it down there.
And we thought the australia server was supposed to be the wierd one.
I didn't even know about the server until this video. (Luvurvidsbtwtybb)
Well the deep sea server is basically a wasteland server, a dumpsite if you will (evident by the fact that vegetation doesn't spawn there and the only loot is leftover loot fallen from the open ocean server) . It's not expected for (the average) players to venture there let alone survive there and yet there are some players determined to do it anyway. And the crazy part is it payed off especially for scavengers what with it being a dumpsite and all.
"90% of the player base use bioluminescence"
90% we´ve seen
A very good point. Larger creatures it should be quite easy to pick out their silhouette. But the smaller ones would pretty much be impossible for us to identity at anything but extremely close range.
The likelihood of cheat codes in the abyssal server seems exceptionally high which might be why the devs don't know much

At this point I look forward to seeing your ad transitions. Also Deep Sea is like an unreleased area the dev's accidentally left a portal to (or test area they forgot to delete backdoor to).
not much point in deleting the door when most players who go through it either explode or implode, or are rendered blind, also in either direction.

what happens in the abyssal server stays in the abyssal server. they're hardcore down there
Players like that can’t last down there. Since they like to brag, they’d probably tell anyone who’d listen all about their strategy... and then smarter players would exploit that and kill em off immediately

Some "data miners" have found that bio luminescence us actually a form of camouflage. If you make yourself look lighter from the bottom, you blend in with the surface light. There are some documentaries on this that are pretty fun to watch because of all the bioluminesence
this passes as top comment. grammatical errors confirmed
What about hydro thermic vents
Yes, but this requires ambient light. Unfortunately the abyssal servers have no such commodity
But there isn't any light from the surface in the deep sea so wouldn't this only work with players relatively close to the surface and not deep sea players?
Yes I have watched an Attenborough documentary about it.

Holy shit another malacosteus enthusiast!
And the black dragon fish which uses red light to see which other fish cant see
Was wondering if anyone else mentioned this. The flashlight has very limited range though, red light is the first colour to get filtered out of the spectrum as light pierces water.
Even better: most abyssal creatures can't even *_see_* red light, so there's no risk of drawing unwanted attention with a red hunting-light.

Magnapinnas are actually filter feeders! I realize this is 2 years late, but just in case you wanted to know i guess.. although we haven't actually observed how they get the food to their mouths, we have figured out they use their long arms (or more specifically, two noodle-like appendages among their arms) to pick up detritus, similar to Vampire squids. If you wanted the most menacing squid predator though, the Humboldt's are your best bet. Their pack hunting is insane.
Must have been female. The male type is a purely parasite class.

I'm really lucky to have spawned in The Abyss. It's really great down here. Sure you get the occasional grifter squid, but the other players are pretty chill. As a dev, I can say that was what we wanted as the abyss was an ocean beta but was to extreme. We recently tried to patch data miners by the chip nerf but they have somewhat powered through. This was also an engineering/ human nerf but sadly the humans keep pushing. We are getting serious thought about having a dev only build and guild so we can eliminate humans. We also congratulate you for making it down there. You will know we made some pretty crazy builds down there that I am sure you benefited from. Real Talk: The only way I can see a game like this actually working is if evolution points are carried over between playthroughs (like you start with a base creature, and then each time you die you can spec into a new ability) and actually, that sounds super interesting maybe the character creation screen is your personal "tree of life" to where all the creatures you've speced into can be viewed and certain branches act as "checkpoints" (like when amphibians branched into reptiles that would be one restore point)
MishapTrap WHEN this channel gets a few million subs someone might put the effort into making this game a reality, however it would be the most time intensive mmo to create, ever. And doing it poorly would be similar to spore and no man's sky.

I had an Idea for it but would need a dev team thats looking for expiernce rather then cash so I guess I just need to go back to just thinking of Ideas
There's an old SNES game called EVO: Search for Eden that might be of interest to you
That leads to another question: What if Lamarck was hired as a dev for the Earth servers?
There is actually a build that uses bioluminescence as a device to see effectively. The build essentially changed the default blue bioluminescence to red, a colour of light that many builds have completely forgone the ability to see, as red light doesn't reach the server. Many builds have also chosen to put points into colour camouflage that makes them red for the same reason. The black dragonfish build takes advantage of this with its red bioluminescence, basically acting as an invisible flashlight that also doubles as a way to spot otherwise difficult to find players. Definitely an interesting strat, and I am unaware of any counter strategies anyone has developed.
Broken
and they use that to find partiners because only drangonfish produce this tipe of ligth
"90% of the players have bioluminescence" that we know of. Imagine how hard it is for the data miners to find players in the dark over 4 km below the surface if they don't emit any light.

Actually the stoplight loosejaw uses red bioluminescence to locate prey. The light it emits is red, so most fish cannot see it at all, but a lot of deep sea creatures are red in color, such as the copepods that the loosejaw eats.
There are always exceptions. When talking about general trends, those two things don't tend to work that way.

No, the human player type didn't spawn in the Abyss, that's silly; the base human build can't even handle low atmosphere pressure debuffs without taking massive hits to their HP, let alone the insane amounts of pressure in the Abyssal servers. The human build came about after many, many updates, patches, bugs and hacks to the metaserver, many of which rendered most builds region-locked to surface servers.

I think eventually you should make a video about the very first choice an animal player makes: PICKING A PHYLUM.
Obviously you would want to go with the most OP domain; archae.
Sum Arber, that's not a phylum. The very first choice is kingdom, but he said animal player has to make. Archaea is a kingdom
Every player has a phylum, whether they're one of the peaceful plant players or an aggressive tiger.
There are 6 kingdoms, and this can completely change playstyle.
There is the Archaea, the Ancient Bacteria, Eubacteria, the TRUE, Bacteria, Protists, which include amoebas, Fungi, Plants, and Animals. Phylums come below that, such as the animal phylum Chordata, which includes the subphylum Vertebrata, which includes Fish, Amphibians, Mammals, Birds, and Reptiles. There is a also the Phylum arthropoda, which includes every animal with the exoskeleton trait.
Mira peaceful plants? I can't think of too many peaceful plants (unless we genetically modified them to lay down their arms).
All plants are dicks. Sure you have the obvious carnivore plants. Honeydew, fly trap and picture plants. Then you have the more insidious plants like the mustard plant. Every hippy complains about round-up. Well mustard plants were the OG of glycophoshpate.
All vining plants use jukes in their structure to out compete plants that work hard for growth.
Bamboo straight chokes out almost anything if given the opportunity. With arguably the greatest zerg rush in the game.
Last let's not forget the plants that make themselves toxic in droughts to outright kill herbivores.
Plants are far from peaceful.
Sum Arber Many plants are peaceful, although honestly you are correct. I was just talking about the common plants like Daffodils, Lillies, and even edibles like Oranges, Mango, and Corn. Potatos, Papaya, etc. I can think of many more. Although plant meta is Cacti, Morning Glory and other harmful plants, there are still peaceful plants people love because they help them in grinding XP or they are simply pretty.
Mira all the plants I know, you mentioned have been artificially selected to play nice.
About the only "peaceful" wildtype plants I can think of is nitrogen fixing plants; peanuts, empress trees. Even then they help themselves first.
Also a caveat, depends on how you define peaceful. A lot of people think plants are a passive part of the environment. However, that is never the case. Most wild plants do stuff to either directly benefit them or benefit other members of their species.
"Demon Gardens" in the rainforest use ants to wipe out all other plants for acres. Most conifers drop acidic needles. When lignum was first discovered by plants a few species choked out almost all competition as they competed with each other to be the tallest.
"Plant history is written is sap, and deadfall." - Sum Arbor
(Not trying to be mean or contrarian. :) )
Absolutely A+ transition into that ad at the end
69th like >:)
Tier Zoo has the cleanest ad transitions of any channel I've seen.
"Yeah I'm a badass, I play on the abyssal server" *Mains tube worm and AFKs*
Shwick Shwack
Ugh; fucking noobtubers
You're the hero we need, Felsbrocken.
I main collosal squid but tubeworms are boring in my opinion...just use it and afk
I wonder if the calamity mod abyss meta is any different, given 2 things: 1. The existence of plant life down there. 2. Seemingly less pressure. While it’s still there, it’s definitely not as extreme as the real life abyss, given that human players can enter and leave freely with the right preparation.
The cool thing about a human main.....can get special gear and unlockable's to go on land and water and air and even space.
Ehh the amount of skills you need to invest points in to get them makes it a bit of a turn-off for most players.
That and human players always boast about being able to re-spec into the different classes but with the in-game currency cost, server location bias and extended class tutorial you're reliant on getting great RNG spawning in so there's hardly any space/water/land dedicated players (percentage wise).
@@ShinTheSilverDemon Yeah that's why not everyone ops for human main. While it may sound good as you've said, it's entirely dependent RNG. You're region drop determines a lot of how you may evolve your human, and that's why not every human main is on the same plane. Not only that, but Human mains have to always be on guard for other unpredictable humans every day, because those who's game glitches and makes them experience the debuff known as intense aggression and pyschosis always pose a threat for other human mains.
I've heard that a few human mains have managed craft special gear that lets them visit the deep sea server. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was hacked into the game.
The space meta will rise,it will be a hard server to join but will have aliens if we can get far enough
Those are some tasty new animations!
I hope some game company notices these videos and makes it into a real game
Edit: holy shit 260 likes thanks so much!
Mr. SkyrimDoggo you are already playing it lol
You mean like Pokémon
Javier Renovell what you mean
Mr. SkyrimDoggo this "game" is the real world and if you are reading this you already are S+ tier hahah, I guess you were just ironic tho
Javier Renovell lmao like that
Out of all your videos this my favourite video of yours.
I absolutely adore the way you describe the abyss!! It's what keeps me rewaching this video over and over
If Waterbears where part of the deep sea meta. They would invest all their evolution points into stealth.
I see you specced into new animations for the build stats, good choice!
Hey TierZoo, could you do an episode on insects? Maybe you could cover their different styles of playing, like hunters/raiders (stuff like carnivorous wasps), support classes (honeybees for their honey and pollination), and kingdom building classes (like anteaters or ants, as they create huge colonies that can work together). It would be really interesting to see how some of them rank, although given the vast amount of different types of insects, like Warrior Wasps and Bullet Ants, a separate video for each group of classes might be necessary.
Actually the viperfish mains actually _do_ use bioluminescence to illuminate their prey. Because pretty much all deep-sea builds don't unlock the red-light visibility skill (because it's the first colour to go) viperfish use this to their advantage by using red lights and unlocking the skills by themselves. Meaning that they're effectively the only ones able to see their signals too.
My favorite video so far by a long shot, love the animations and the different type of meta is very interesting...
Come for knowledge, stay for a good shave
These videos keeps getting more interesting! An idea: do a list of mythical/urban legend creatures. Or fictional species maybe
He did do "how to play as a cryptid" and has touched on dragons. But more would be cool!
The April Fools episode was all about fake animals
I think we'd all appreciate a review of what goes on in modded servers.
A great book written by a data farming human main is "Below the edge of Darkness". It explores many of the darker servers in the ocean area. It also describes really neat screenshots and screen records the player managed to pull off, the most noteworthy being the screen record of a kraken build during gameplay! (which has not been achieved before)
If I've said it once, I've said it a dozen times. Kraken builds can't exist.
It's just something human mains came up with to scare each other and explain seeing the big squid and octopus players.
that infinity war reference tho
The Tier list dies in infinity war.
No abyss Tier List means it's perfectly balanced.
Where?
Your animations look so crisp and so clean keep up the great work... long time fan
If there is a meta even in Deep Sea, could there also be a meta in the Space server?
It's so heavily blocked off by devs, no one is sure it even exists
Modders are trying to mod it in for higher servers
I heard that some human players actually used their cumulative knowledge ability to figure out an ingame way to access that server, and have brought a few other species along for their science experiments.
Apparently they even plan to colonize the Mars server! If they do that, they're sure to bring along at least some plant players to spawn loot.
Shows ya how overpowered that cumulative knowledge ability is.
Tardigrades have popped in there at times. They did better than all the dog and monkey players.
+Florezkids
It's neither hacking nor mods. They're just exploiting the game mechanics to their advantage.
