I think your being a bit too hard on side neck builds. Their shells are stronger on average than cryptodirans and they are built to to negate their weaknesses. They can stay underwater for very long so they don't need to stay near the surface, and thus don't need to stay near to those who have a chance of harming them, waders. In large and deep bodies of water they are practically invincible. Fish player can't get their mouths around them and crustaceans players can't overpower them due to their size and speed, and when waders do manage to get them, they larger ones are to heavy to lift and can use their muscular necks to right themselves. They have free reign is large bodies of water and marshes and this has allowed them to be massively successful and as such are found on every server except Antarctica and North America due to absence of their preferred habitat and cold temperatures. Freshwater side necks out compete hidden necks in all habitats but small ponds and streams and North America. While on paper cryptodires have an advanatage , they other than the NA players(which have had room to experiment and try new things without side necks to compete with) can often be flipped and not be righted, and have smaller cloacal gills on average.

Hey, TierZoo, I have a question. As you probably know, snapping turtle players can actually choose from two subclasses; the Common Snapping Turtle build, and the Alligator Snapping Turtle build. Would you say that one build is better than the other, or do they sit in the same place in the meta?
Common snapping turtles tend to be far more aggressive, and will fight other creatures even if out of their weight class, they absolutely body water birds with geese being grabbed pretty regularly. I’ve even personally seen one take down a great blue heron.
Beaste Beat yeah, his content is so unfairly only geared towards only human mains. And even then, only those that invested into the [English language] skill tree can understand him.

Amy why? I didn’t know science was invented after the 1600s. There are a couple animals that can live without a head for a while. Only to die to starvation because they can’t eat.

I disagree with the low mobility assessment of snapping turtles. While you gave a fair description of the large alligator snapper which is a very slow moving ambush predator, you said nothing of the high mobility of common snappers in comparison to other turtles. The common snapper sacrifices it’s bottom defenses for increased range of leg movement. They are quite fast in the water and very capable of traveling over land, even being able to scale chain link fences with their claws and strong muscles. They have a very long neck that they are capable of fully withdrawing into their shell, combing the range of motion of long necked turtles with the defensive abilities of hidden neck turtles. This range of neck motion is augmented by a powerful and extremely fast bite which can attack targets just over 180 degrees around the front of the turtle. Their high mobility, offensive power and attack speed is supplemented by their wide omnivorous dietary range and their ability to survive is sub prime water conditions. They are apex aquatic predators in much of their northern range due to their ability to survive cold and I believe their well rounded strengths both significantly differentiate the common snapping turtle from the alligator snapper and should place it above it in the tier list.
Agreed I just looked them up, they have mobility, a very fast bite like a snake, and will walk aggressively towards you as an intimidation tactic at times. These turtles are smart, and they seem to have the capabilities to match up with that intelligence. They certainly are preyed upon, but it doesn't look like as adults have very much to fear in terms of things like hawks. These seem like solid A tier turtles even getting recognized as an invasive species.
Roque Dietrich I am one of the only people that main paramecium. If you want a good challenge, yet also get tons of exp off of bacteria, paramecium is for you.
Preston Alexander I prefer the neutralist Mosquito in a lower ranked country such as Africa. They don't have any defenses against it and you can get tons of XP for killing what is considered to be the highest tier in the game.
The only issue is that for snapping turtle you used alligator snapping turtle,as the common snapping turtle goes for a more aggressive play style, chasing down kills.
Thank goodness someone said it. He kept labeling it just as a snapping turtle and I was confused because common snapping turtles arent ambush predators
I feel like snapping turtles should be slightly higher, specifically the Alligator snapping turtle variant. They are typically larger and stronger than regular snapping turtles and this lets them take on some of the top builds in their server. They can bully even young adult alligators around and their weight class and tendency to stay underwater also means no bird is going to try and teach it to fly, or they'll be taught to dive. Only the big max level gators can stand their ground.
I think at the other end of the spectrum, micro-warfare also has an interesting tier to talk about. While I understand that this channel is predominantly animal tiers (hence zoo tier), they might be the one of the few (if not only) non-human organisms (not counting invasive species) capable of mass-wiping out entire species or ecosystems because of their ridiculously fast reproductive rate, overwhelming advantage in numbers, and their broken mutation skill to Auto-spawn new abilities at random. In fact, microorganisms might include the strongest survivalist species because of that. I actually wonder what the highest tier of bacteria’s are, even viruses, though some debate that they don’t count as actual living players but rather the absolute parasitic hacker class.
Virus players are crazy, they barely play the game and just run like 7 versions of a build at once using bots, and then they just constantly respec their builds with different "strains" after they get info from their simulations. Have you seen them play? It's like watching someone use a spreadsheet in order to beat Dwarf Fortress
AdrenalStorm microbes might be majorly op. If speced right even humans can't do anything about them. Even if humans find a new antibiotic some microbe player will find a way around it. Plus given the friendliness of the community and being able to tack on new abilities without sacrificing current abilities those new antibiotics become obsolete rather quickly. I think someone needs a nerf.
Virus's aren't even players. It's a term for fake accounts used to grief those just trying to play the game. Bacteria players can be pretty cool, even helping other players with digestion, but they have the highest number of troll players, due to how easily they're abilities can be used to fuck up even an S-tiers game.
Great video but you only talked about alligator snapping turtles, which are ambush hunters, and neglected to mention common snapping turtles, which actively hunt their prey.
Emma Kinzian I wonder why the snapping turtles were placed into two tiers. Aren’t they long neck turtles as well? How are they trash and good at the same time?
because compensate the exposition from at critical hit (neck attack) with a lighting strike attack ability and enrage ability. Basically Snapping have a free reaction attack for everything enter in his control area, and hits more faster and more hard than every averange player.
As someone who owned several common snapping turtles and one alligator snapping turtle, I must disagree as to their intelligence. They are omnivorous, highly intelligent that don't just lure but can actively take down players larger than themselves. Some of the larger ones retain molbility while weighing 200-300lbs or more.
I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with you on the sea turtle's ranking here. While it has mostly thrived throughout the patches, the human players have been decimating the sea turtle player base. Since sea turtle players have to lay their eggs on the shore, this makes the new players an easy exp farm for any predators around. Also, due to their low intelligence, the new players are constantly getting attracted to nearby human hubs, and even veteran players mistake human products for jellyfish. The snapping turtle has no matchups that it can outright lose against due to its absurd damage output and massive size, so I believe that they deserve to be above the sea turtles.
Fluffybuns Mcjugnuggets TierZoo did say that sea turtles lose to intelegence based classes, which humans are the undeniable best at. It makes sense that humans hard-counter them that much, and if the meta wasn't so human-centric, sea turtles might have worked their way into S tier.
Adam Evening the thing about humans that makes them so powerful Is a special tree separate from the evolution tree known as the "tech tree" For humans that spec high into the intelligence stat, they gain tons of points in the tech tree, allowing for powerful loot and equipment to become craft-able. I myself am a human main and I can assure you that humans are one of the best classes out there. This is why their liter as a high S tier class.
MR.MANTEQUILLA 98 I do understand that, and I will agree with you that humans have shaped the meta more than any other class, but what I'm saying is that the sea turtles have not adapted well to the current meta, and they are rapidly losing players because of this.
My absolute favorite channel, only one that I watch the videos as soon as they come out. I'm so happy you've been able to build a subscriber base, patreons, and now a sponsor
There is one problem with the snapping turtle ranking being only A tier instead of S tier. Almost zero intelligence builds excluding humans would be able to use intelligence against them. Common snapping turtles are far too aggressive for anything except humans to even dare approach. Alligator snapping turtles can weigh up to 70 pounds, and most animals are unable to hold onto something that large due to their inability to grab heavy objects and keep a firm grip for extended periods of time or train arm strength the way humans can. This means the only predator for them is humans, which almost never try to attack them for resources because of how risky it is. Almost all snappers caught are released after scientific analysis by humans anyways, so their only predator is humans with godlike hunting abilities. And even if a human were to catch one and try to kill it, that would leave them vulnerable to one of the top 10 most powerful bite attacks in the case of the strongest snapper, the alligator snapping turtle. If you argue that humans are still a great predator and that reduces their tier, here’s 2 counters to that. One, every single living thing is prey to humans, whether it be hunting for sport, poaching, defense of territory, or any other reason a human would kill it. Secondly, humans almost never even hunt snapping turtles and they assist other turtles in tasks such as getting from place to place or taking care of them as pets, which some crazy people even do for the fearsome snapping turtles. Therefore I think all turtles have an argument for a raise in their tier besides tortoises, since humans are not intelligent enough to tell turtle from tortoise sometimes, as well as sea turtles since helping something tens of feet underwater is difficult. Snapping turtles would go up to S tier since they are helped by the most powerful build AND have no natural predators besides humans. If you read this entire thing, I am sorry for wasting so much of your play time as a human, but these things needed to be said. I love turtles and even though this tier list is good, it had a lot of huge flaws I couldn’t ignore.
But alligator snapping turtles can get much larger than 70 lbs. I've caught them hitting that 100 lb mark. Released of course. When you're fishing you can't control what you catch
Well it's their general class tiers. Specific turtles like the snapping turtle can reach s tier easily. They even got the special ability. Dominance that scare any weak creature around them.
XD that toxicity spectrum. This channel is amazing. never miss a video, and i end up pausing every 20 seconds to appreciate all the little gems and curated clips.
Nice list! Only change i would make would be to bump up the snapping turtle to S tier due to their status as an Apex predator in their servers, and their ability to break into other servers. I would also bump down the sea turtles just a bit given how hard they are 99% griefed early game
Darwis :3 dude the ebola build is nothing compared to the plague before the 1.350 patch, a guild that used that build almost wiped out an entire server
Drunk Joyless German yeah but ever since the 1.796 update disease builds have been kinda meh in damage over time effects and DPS, parasite builds are the new meta atm tbh

PLACODONTS are marine reptiles without a shell, that lived in the Triassic Period.
However, I was still wrong, because turtles only evolved in the Jurassic. I was thinking of Glypdodonts, which only evolved after the extinction of the dinosaurs.

I swear, if we discover alien life, TierZoo is going to talk about a new expansion update
Or a rip-off game.
White Easter the expansions are over time, the meta would still be the same. It'd probably be described as an update to the meta or dlc more then anything.
Depending on how the devs introduce the aliens and if we discover them or they discover us, the event could be similar to other ‘invasive species’ events we’ve seen befor.
If the game is life on the whole planet, wouldn't encountering aliens count as a crossover?
White Easter I think you mean if our dataminers find out the new dev plans? :3
However, technically there are 'extra terrestrial' classes available for play. They're mostly microbic players subjected into nature's most extreme environment.
If continents are considered servers then planets would be considered platforms right?
Can't beleive you overlooked the Diamondback Terrapin.
- Tough Shell
- Powerful Bite
- Can survive in salt or fresh water
- Can burrow for protection
Or the common snapping turtle

Yes this one sparks joy.

I stopped playing as the sea turtle because humans started putting fake loot in the water that kills the sea turtles 🐢

The common snapping turtle could be top tier...crazy mobility and speed, with a similar bite to the alligator snappers, while actively pursuing prey

@@celestialtree8602 you didn't get his/her message..
AdrenalStorm this is genius
Virus players are crazy, they barely play the game and just run like 7 versions of a build at once using bots, and then they just constantly respec their builds with different "strains" after they get info from their simulations. Have you seen them play? It's like watching someone use a spreadsheet in order to beat Dwarf Fortress
Mason K hahaha that was an amazing comment
The common snapping turtle should have been a separate build as it actually hunts in its pond and is a top predator
wow We are the least toxic. I know that the comments here are amazing, but still. very kind of you.
mstrblik Let me start instead.
You have nice eyes.
My two favorite things! Wildlife and gaming! Thank you for all the time and energy you put into this!!
Great video but you only talked about alligator snapping turtles, which are ambush hunters, and neglected to mention common snapping turtles, which actively hunt their prey.
Solid point
also Coyote grabbed one it was like, screw this! , FTW!(snaps forward)
one thing though, also tierzoo, your'e self contradictory, the sea turtle was ranked as C in your old vids
Emma Kinzian
I wonder why the snapping turtles were placed into two tiers.
Fluffybuns Mcjugnuggets
TierZoo did say that sea turtles lose to intelegence based classes, which humans are the undeniable best at. It makes sense that humans hard-counter them that much, and if the meta wasn't so human-centric, sea turtles might have worked their way into S tier.
You’re thinking of Galapagos tortoises, and tortoises as a whole are covered in the video.
Adam Evening the thing about humans that makes them so powerful Is a special tree separate from the evolution tree known as the "tech tree"
For humans that spec high into the intelligence stat, they gain tons of points in the tech tree, allowing for powerful loot and equipment to become craft-able.
MR.MANTEQUILLA 98 I'm sorry about that, UA-cam made me think that you had replied to me.

+Gary Oak Look out we've got an original /b user clear out guys.
Hey man, don't associate oldfag /b/tards with this, if anything we would wind up just being salty that we didn't trick the fans first
Dang, snapping turtles (and other creatures that use this tactic) are real life d&d mimics aren't they
There is one problem with the snapping turtle ranking being only A tier instead of S tier. I love turtles and even though this tier list is good, it had a lot of huge flaws I couldn’t ignore.
pretty good
But alligator snapping turtles can get much larger than 70 lbs. I've caught them hitting that 100 lb mark. Released of course. When you're fishing you can't control what you catch
Well it's their general class tiers. Specific turtles like the snapping turtle can reach s tier easily. They even got the special ability. Dominance that scare any weak creature around them.
Bump for a tier list revision
I don’t think that it’s intelligence that makes humans try to pick up alligator snapping turtles. It’s likely the opposite.
Aye, a sponsor! Look at you!
I think maybe a Box Turtle would be like in between S & A Tier since they have a hinge on their shells that can completely block their face off
