just want to say thanks for these videos. im a plumbing apprentice and i model ofter a lot of the things you do in my job. got 2 raises. thanks again.
Great job and great video. Surprising how quiet that new boiler is. Thanks for posting!
Really nice job Steve from beginning to end!! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Steven as everyone said you are the BEST! Very Experienced and knowledgeable, meticulous, and very thorough. vocabulary suitable and easy for all to understand . the best videos on you tube Period!!!!!
Great video, I know the home owner is happy. Thanks for the hard work you into it.
Great video Steve professionalism at its best..
Another very professional job.
You’re an artist when it comes to pipe work. 👍👍
Looks great Steve. Skilled craftsmanship at its finest! Crown is a good boiler. The supplier I deal with has mostly slant fin in stock, so that's what I usually install. As long as it's cast iron. No steel boilers here!
Really nice installation, great attention to detail.
I would like to say that Steven is one the best MASTER PLUMBER out there in the field of plumbing & heating
smart and funny , not a phony like most ,this is exactly how this work is ,without all the crunched nuckels and swearing .
Excellent video, All the way from the UK. 👍
Great Job, We used a plumber and after years his son took over, Just like you. Great work. Safe boiler and good work. wish you were in my area. A few leaks its ok. But not a sprinkler system after the apprentice solders the joints. I have a cousin learning the trade hope he watches your videos, he's young. Thanks.
Amazing , only two leaks with all those joints. All those combustion tests taught me a lot!
Nice job Steve! You make it look so easy. Im due to replace my oil fired boiler.
A great skill to have and not easy by any stretch. I just spent $5,000.00 having mine replaced the same Crown unit shown here. My install was 3 zones a Supervent and piping redo.
Nice job Steve very clean I like the way you swiped the solder a way that's the mark of a true plumber
Excellent install Steve ! Nice to see how you take pride in workmanship true master. Also nice to see soldering the fittings alot of companies are using the pro press method which may be faster but I feel not as good as a solder joint.
Came out REAL nice! Thanks for the vid!
Great job Steve,very professional job
Nice work Steve! Really enjoy your videos.
Beautiful install job here Steve
Really super nice install job Steve...
I think you make some of the cleanest solder joints that I've seen. A true master of his craft. Great work.
Great work Steve it turned out really good! I like those Crown Boilers I've only seen a couple though.. I still love to get a copy of your little sheets you use for combustion I like those!! Good video
Good Job Steve. Great to watch this mama.
Good looking Install Steve and congrats on 15 k !
That might be the first leaker I have seen in your work. The supertechs will be coming out of the woodwork ... or basements, to cast stones. Nice work on this set-up.
Great build, Steve!
excellent work steve!!!
Great install Steve
nice job Steve, thanks for sharing brother, regards
Steve is working again mama!
looks nice very clean install.good job.
Nice clean install Steve. Good video.
Great job, lots of work, but like you said, better to get the work yourself instead of passing it off. Great video.
Nice....great clean and neat job on the copper and everything else for that matter!
Awesome install Steve
Great looking install Steve !!
Don't need to go to a museum to look at art work, this job's artisan craftsmanship is a show piece in it's self and is better then any museum exhibit I ever seen.
Nice clean job I like that you leave the combustion data there duplicate I say that because about 8 years ago we replaced 1 of 6 boilers a leaker. Trued to sue 4years later cause we didn't analysis the other 5 when we completed the install. Love the fffff lawyer's for trying
Turned out very well, Steven. That lady can rest easy. Baby looks good in her frosty coat. Let er rip, potato chip!
That looks like art to me. Awesome!
That's was good work Steve! 4 years ago. You sure stay busy! Happy new year 2021
Great job Steve!
Pride of workmanship very nice and clean joints some guys don’t even bother to wipe off the excess solder and leave lumps in their joints.
That copper work is beautiful
Very nice looking installation.
Hi steven nice install class job.
excellent job steve !
Nice install Steve.
Always clean new pipe! Thats the key!
Awesome job, should be putting out heat for a long time ,maybe even after we are gone.
Nice job Steve.
Awesome video mate!
enjoy your videos
I love watching your solder work. Everyone seems to be using the Propress for speed but I'm not impressed. The distortion it causes in the copper pipe (varies with pipe grade) is not a good thing. It's setting up stress points and I believe time will tell if they hold up or not. My boiler which I'm replacing (with new cast iron Crown) has all copper sweat joints and is 45 years old. Still going strong but I'm updating for efficiency and to remove risk of an unattended leak.
Neck (next) level! Great work!
Man that copper looks nice. If that was my boiler I'd go downstairs every once in a while and just look at it.
Maestro!
Nice soldering job there!!! Would have been nice to move the circ out in front of that air scoop, but ya know ya can't reinvent the wheel on some jobs!
Nice install Steve. The only thing I was thinking was, when you used compressed air, have you ever used a wand or 1/4" tubing to allow blowing down through the exchanger? Just a though, great job.
were is your shock loop in the hot water copper, normal 1-1/4. to protect the boiler, with out one most all mfg will void warranty?
Love the ending.
Hey pal. When I was in college in the early seventies we were taught capillary attraction techniques. Flame at the front. Feed the solder in from the back for a perfect joint.
Yeah, but did you ever use a TurboTorch in school? With a TT you gotta use a different technique like how Steve's going about it. They don't get copper as hot as Ody-Acetlyene does. Even with MAP gas, it still takes awhile.
Oh, and if you use a Acetylene bottle with a TT, please, make sure it does not tip over while using it, or the solvent inside will flood your torch and it'll make a big mess.
Steve do you do the rigging yourself? Getting a boiler down an old wooden staircase in to some basements through the kitchen can be a real work of art.
Nice job Steve ! I wonder how long the other one will last? It looks the same age as the one you replaced.
Steve, Do you check the water temperature of the return? What kind if any boiler protection do you find? I keep an old National 90K gas cast iron for now but I added a bypass and thermostatic valve which does not close that bypass until temperature reaches 130 degrees.
Before that went in, the boiler was packed with acidic condensate sludge. I used boiler brushes to clean that out and it was a mess. At least now the stack works right.
The 130 return temperature is critical, anything less and the exhaust condenses around the cast iron sections. Too cold to get it out the stack!
Nice job
Gate valve or ball valve, which one if your prefer chose. Was this job LP or natural gas?
do u keep torch longer on larger diamenter joints when u sweat than you would a 1/2, inch. diameter
nice looking job
nice job
nice clean install Steve ... wouldn't be a boiler install if u didn't have at least one leaker ... can't believe you left circ on the return it will never work ... haha haha ... keep up the good work Steve
Nice work true master...mama
Great video . Can some one suggest the circulator pump should mount on supply side ,they called "pump away "
Damn nice joints
I wish you were close to my area, i would hire you!
Do you guys in the States have to get your test equipment calibrated and tested annually, it's a legal requirement over here in Europe. Nice neat job.
beautiful
Some tidy pipe work there, Steve.
hay steve good to see ya working hat what the best pipe dope for doing boiler black pipe to copper pipes
Nice job! Can you still use those old style gas valves? in my state PA you have to change this type of you touch them. Do you have to have electrician do your wiring up your way?
Nice video steve. The smoke damper the old one is it necessary to replace it w the new electronic ones especially on old gas boilers or just replace it with the same old damper style ?? I'm a hvac tech and always looking for a professionals advice to get better and better
great job steve on a job like this is it time material or one price just wondering thanks keep them coming
steves the man
can the old boiler be taken apart for easier removal from a basement? I have a slant fin gah-105 I may need to replace. Thanks!
hello steve how long did it take you to install that heater oh love you work
Hi Steve big fan. Learn alot from ur channel. Im current in market for boiler i was think high efficiency but been reading up and watching ur videos decide maybe i should stay away from high efficiency due to maintenance and future repair cost may take any savings. I also been reading on heat loss, latent heat resulting in lose the high efficiency and the acidic produced by high efficiency may destory old cast iron radiators. Also how do crown boiler hold up. Im in between crown Aruba 5 and ibc high efficiency and keeping my current electric hot water heater.
Wiping the solder joints, did you get many leaks. My father long gone, never wipe a joint.
But now this seen to be the common thing to do. Stay healthy and hope you have great 2017 X-Mass
Just dont wipe right off wait a few seconds and it wont be as messy.
This might seem like a stupid question, but I noticed it on my boiler, why is the water feed line tied into the return lines like you did? Excellent work Steve!
Hello,
I just install new crown boiler just like the one on the video. However, the boiler keeps went to "STA 1) once the water temperature reach 180F. I already replaced the controller (crown com. tech suggested) and the problem remain. Can you suggested what should I check.
Stood job,,not that I know much about boilers,,,but I am learning,,,lol not to worry,,I am retired and hire pro's like you,,,but now I know what to LOOK for. Peace bro.
Do you propress your fittings or just old school solder
Sounds like he's in the MAFIA
Hey Steve, this is the second video I've seen you do a boiler and you have an electrician come in? I'm a bit confused as to why? I only ask because if you can do HVAC control and power why would you need an electrician? Just wondering because I know power, relays and thermostats are not out of your wheel house?
Nice job Steve. All you Pro-Press hacks out there, watch this video to see how a real working man does it!
Joe Bal - Yeah that pro press stuff is crap. If you want to plumb with fittings using a press, why not just go with pex.
Tommy TMT because you still want copper. pro press has it's place. it's not a substitute for sweat joints, but sometimes it comes in handy
if the fittings weren't so dam expensive more people would use them.
@@hvac01453 that's the problem. Kills company bottom line
I love to solder but the pro press ( I use the Milwaukee) is an awesome tool I fought using Pex I fought using pro press but after using and applying the same level of professionalism to the install I think they are great. Some people use these tools as an excuse to do sloppy work that’s the problem
Я под впечатлением👍😎 пайка от бога, работа мастера боится😅
Моё почтение..
Nice video lot of talent but a few setbacks i am seeing? Pipe seal first time every time and get that chimmney sealed up ! Check gas volume bring it down do your combustion check with the door installed check your numbers wrap it up get a w.o. signed and get to the next client! Thats how we make our money in our region! In and out first time every time never a leaker!!
did you consider a ModCon, and how did it lose out?
Hello great videos
I’m in New York and I’m looking convert my oil burner to natural gas
What would be the going price. Just don’t want to get ripped off
Between 5-7 grand
