- Back at Ebisu, again! In this episode we check out the road legal Porsche 996 GT3 Cup Car! It's becoming more and more popular to register these cars for the road in Japan, and it was very easy to see why, getting the chance to take this example around the track after hours!

This is not a GT3 Cup but a GT3 JGN (Japan Group N). They can be registered on the road because they were street chassis converted locally as opposed to Stuttgart. 996.2 (C-West aero) and 997.1 (Ings aero) based JGNs were eligible to compete in ST-1 class endurance racing.

996s are just the best, and it looks like this one sees some regular spirited driving 🥰
As a cup car owner some issues youd have getting it on road. Doors have no locks , steering rack has no lock, hood and engine cover have no locks , would you just rock up leaving everything open to all ? no handbrake , steering has very little movement lock to lock , suspension designed for track use , engine idles at 1800 rpm and Bosch MS3.1 is locked out to tuning (hence that motec) no cooling fans for rads , no road legal seat belts , no einding eindows . I am sure you get that lot done and youll have a working road car but not much cup car left .
man I love porsches.. owning a street legal track car like this would be a dream come true

Love this, it's not a headlight that will turn me away from a well-engineered street/race car. I kinda like the look of the 996 gen.
I hope those rotors aren’t on backwards… only saying that because they look like they could be… the slot direction doesn’t matter, it’s the internal vents that matter, and normally the slots go the opposite direction from the vents… so when installed correctly the slots normally look like they are pointing forward…

Something about European cars in Japan.....same with American cars....
Using a track car for road use gives you for sure the WORST performance on the road. Race cars are made for full throttle use constant max forces on all components.. it’s not effective or max performance when driven cruise speed on highways only straight or 30 in the city’s my friend you need to learn some more about motorsport
