Being the owner of both a 323f ( in the same color! ) and a Prelude, this was pretty entertaining to watch
I have 323f 1.8 v4 but here v6 and kinda felt a bit disappointed after he's been passed by many. But those cars have great stability and cornering which still amazes me. Nowadays everywhere is SUVs. I think only option is to buy bmw to have fun in nowadays

Fto's superb handling still amazes me today, people nowadays complain about lack of punch, but fto's are not muscle cars, they're more a track scalpel.

Funny thing is that a 320i would've fared worse. They barely have more power than a 318is but suffers from more weight over the front wheels due to the six which does handicap the handling. The 18" wheels didn't help it either.
Very cool. It is funny to see that Honda Inline-4 cylinder engines have more Horsepower than Mitsubishi and Mazda’s V6 engines. 😂👍

A poorer version of the GTO, to compete with S14, MR2, BMW's etc. I've never heard of this car, I just know it's ugly.
@@carecaone8238 i suppose its matter of opinion. Ive got a 1990 vr4. I think it was designed with a set square but i love it. Ive even nicknamed the brick, due to its squareness. 😂
It's got nothing to do with the GTO, it's on a similar platform as the Eclipse just it's alot lighter and has a N/A screamer V6.

318is with 140hp compare against cars with 30 to 70 more horsepower is ridiculuos. Why not a 325i with 192hp, seems more in place....? I owned a 325i and a friend of mine a 318is; uncomparable difference in performance and performance delivery. In line 4, in line 6. 1800cc vs 2500cc.
the funny thing is that an honda integra type-r dc2 wich is 1800cc smokes that bmw on this track even against 330i
@@lexburen5932 I agree, that’s a bespoke sports car, not a family sedan with 2 or four doors. But funny thing is, when I had the 325i, it was faster in straight line than a Integra you’ve mentioned. Cornering was the Integra faster I have to admit. And by the way, this not made up, not heard from someone else but really happened, it was a nice white (like I believe all of them) one.

@@lexburen5932 just like the cars I had afterwards. First a E39 M5, stock, but what an engine and straight line speed. Cornering for such a heavy car not bad. After that a R56 Mini Cooper S. Was stock when I bought it, but with bigger hybrid Turbo and forged piston’s, intercooler, bespoke tuning by Mosselman Netherlands etcetera 265hp and 371Nm torque. But the biggest plus was it’s weight, Michelin SS tires, Koni FSD shock absorbers; it was eventually faster than the M5, except at 200+ speeds. So weight and suspension does influence a lot…
Because the price of a 325i and engine size...

was that a 3sg without turbo? probably not since the manual fto was the only one that could best it. pretty weak compared to the 200hp sw20 we got in the states
Yep G-limited is the NA mr2, in JP they were made with 190-200 hp in the final gen

7:53 Even the drift king isn’t immune to understeer. better to brake early, turn to the direction you want to go, feather the gas as needed, and fucking floor it out of the corner.

They often put their worst drivers in non Japanese cars on Best Motoring
Rubbish, the 318i is just dog shit slow, thats why it started at the front. RWD/FWD doesn't really mean anything at these power levels either.

Rwd 45hp to 60hp and awd up to 90hp.

This video twists things a bit... The bmw driver was driving like a rookie (on purpose?), then, 18 inch wheels to make impossible any sort of recovery on acceleration... This video is clearly staged in order to make the japanese cars stand out from a bmw 3 series, which is a standard for automotive manufacturers. I'm not even going to mention the e36 had less power than most of the competitors in this video... Still like that would have beat most of them with 16-17 inch wheels and proper driver skills
They were protecting the cars😂. I mean it's a shame to damage any of them, understandably. The cars have enough power, all o them but not too much grip on those tyres or breaks. 🫣
