Just recently started looking into the FTO after seeing one in person, crazy to see it holding up against the RX7 (a far more known legend).

The crazy part is that while the Toyota MR2 is crazy fast on the 0-60 just like the Toyota Supra, the chassis rear instability in fast corners makes it harder to dominate on the track.
So even though the Toyota Supra and MR2 are both great cars, their weight and chassis holds them back from matching the Nissan Skyline GT-R Nismo and Honda NSX Type R performance.
Yeah you're right, in another video with lightly tuned cars the mr2 beats the integra type r and evo and only loses to a significantly more modified s14 notably due to improved suspension

@@265justy beat it in what? unreliability? Performance in the NSX and GTR is superior, engine is better and more reliable, chassis is far better, handling is better, lap times are faster. How is any superior?
If mitsubishi made a type R version of the fto (100kg lighter and 15-20 more hp) it would have been a great rival to the integra ..
Its just that little bit too heavy
With the same price as the base FTO no less. Usually these kind of trims are pricey even though things like AC and audio are stripped out.
@@R400TVR correct, bigger sway bars, LSD, thinner glass and all aluminum front end panels including bonnet i think! No more horsepower unfortunately but still makes as much as the type R civic so with the extra stiff and lightness would be a contender!

Yeah, closest thing I’ve seen to a non type R “type r” is an AE111 Levin BZ-R from Toyota which is honestly a dream car for me, slower than a Type R but is actually lighter than it, and has an amazing little motor in it, 4AGE 20v Blacktop, that comes stock with ITBs and makes 167hp despite being a 1.6liter… Awesome car… ❤
Edit: Oh and the BZ-R came with a 6 speed an LSD and Super strut suspension.

If the coupe or 3 door integra stayed in it would have been a better match than the 4dr for the RX7

@@AnthonyParrilloRI subie was comfortably in 3rd has the best power to weight and is 4wd. Considering the subie started dead last and with a considerable gap it would have walked both of those types with ease.

@@TheShamiester no way it would have walked either. Every turn they hit, it could not handle or hold speed on the curves and turns at all like the Teggy’s
@@AnthonyParrilloRI the straights are a different the story. It was holding it own just fine considering how close it was to both civic. Close enough to take out out after the driver lost it. The biggest reason they put it so far in the back to begin with it’s due to how fast it is. Had it started in front for example they would never have a chance.
