Sick of all the comments suggesting it was rigged because M3 couldn’t pass NSX.
This is not the usual 5-lap flat out battle, but a 20 minute mini-endurance in the summer.
This took place in extreme heat. Air temperature 32C, track temp 43C. Drivers are reporting during the race the temp inside the car at 40C or sometimes 50C. Of course no one is using air conditioning.
You can see each car equipped with an oil temp (“O.TEMP”) and water temp (“W.TEMP”) monitor and the subtitles keep showing these figures as 油温 and 水温 along with the lap time.
All drivers are managing their driving not to push too hard to get overheated.
At 6:27 the O.TEMP of the M3 hits 140C and the big blue lamp flashes and Ryo Michigami, the driver, had to back down.
The narrator is saying in the 2001 endurance race, though the air temp was different, the oil temp on the M3 only went up to 111C and kept a steady pace at 9 seconds, so perhaps the cooling is tougher with the CSL with beefed up power.
Then at 10:38 the temp meter malfunctions. O.TEMP doesn’t change from 140C - not updating from the peak value as the PEAK indicator doesn’t go out - and W.TEMP value is unavailable.
At 12:45 M3 is doing 7-second laps closing down on the NSX who’s doing 8-second laps, and gets right behind at 13:45.
But at 14:11 the O.TEMP hits a new high of 142C as he ran behind closing in on the NSX for several laps, and Michigami decides not to push further, remarking the lamp isn’t working.
Really cheap of anyone to insult Ryo Michigami’s competence or suggest it was fixed.
This... So much this...99% of the people in these comments are just straight up brain damaged, specially that 1 honda fanboy who thinks any other manufacturer are dogshit lmao.
He could have passed the NSX in the beggining. But he chosed not to.
@@thesis4349 And here we have evidence of said brain damage

Fun fact this was filmed at Very hot summer in Japan
That's why it's an endurance race ✌️🙂
I dont understand why so many people arent getting it. So worried about the results and 'this car shouldve won' etc.
As an Evo fan I'm more impressed with the RX8 keeping the temps low as it is a rotary.
@@vitalhygiene3546 no turbo =no intercooler
@@vitalhygiene3546
Unfortunately, none of the rx-8s have a turbo or intercooler.
This race is not allowed to be modified.
The rx-7 is a turbo engine.
Just for the record Rx8 doesn't have forced induction or an intercooler it's a na rotary. An na cars don't run intercoolers why would they.
@@vitalhygiene3546 Incorrect. The RX8 does not have an intercooler, nor forced induction, nor intercooler. You are just plain wrong.
The RX8 does have 2 factory oil coolers, otherwise it would be a cauldron of boiling oil! :)

If it wasn't for the high temps, the M3 would've won.
Evooo ❤️❤️

That why 10w60 doing great on during hot day.. oil got thicker during high stress.. got for turbo track use
I don't know why the CSL was moving so slow... It literally can keep up with modern sports cars but it's not moving faster on the straights. Hmm...
Its fake, dude… japanese cars always win ))
Seens like he has some problem
It was overheating just like the nsx
The dirver had to drive slow or the engine would fail.
It’s crazy how many people have completely missed the point of this race
NSX and M3 oil temps for up to 280-287 degrees Fahrenheit. I would've been backing off at around 260 if it was my personal car. 280+ is HOT.
it was a race managing oil temps so the N/A cars had big disadvantage since high revving engines have faster moving parts, but the RX8 is different being a rotary which doesn't have pistons and much less moving parts in general so it has less friction in the engine that's why the oil temps where even lower than the water temps.
Na engines have a big advantage in the fact that they dont have turbos which can reach up to 1000 celsius under full throttle conditions. And turbos are mostly cooled by oil and coolant lines.
Na cars suffer more from heat soak than turbo cars with big intercoolers like the evo/impreza as the intake temps rise up.
@@Modi_ yet the exact opposite happened, all the Turbo cars were fine it was the N/A cars that had the high oil temps.
Lancer Evo is a legend. But I need to buy an NSX-R.
Mitsubishi the best very fast very good sterling, Subaru second, Honda, Nissan . Mitsubishi is the best Japanese manufacturer car
Eclipse cross
Stop talking bullshit, shitbox mitsubishis are not fast, they're not the best, they're not first or second best Japanese made car nor is the shitbox subaru...
@@hondasarefaster5914 you could not throw out the truth facts, Mitsubishi is born 1870 and Mitsubishi first car was made in 1917 , Honda only exist in 1948 and first Honda bikes was 1950sbut Honda car born 1963
@@joslyrasitrasitrabeh7825 who gives a fuck about all that, i responded to what you said and i repeat...no mitsubishi are not fast and not the best and definitely not the best Japanese made car...
This is a endurance race. The NSX is still the better and faster car. Stop talking nonsense
So the M3 CSL which runs a 10W-60L oil and has a factory fitted oil cooler, still can't manage thermal oil cooling as well as other japanese performance cars which lack a cooler, like NSX, S2000.
What name ori Canal?
At the normal conditions, they cant challange with CSL
I feel for the drivers who had to drive with those suits in this heat😢😢
That was a spec C STI...he should have taken that EVO
and if it was an RS Evo it would lose, Evos always have the advantage because of the AYC, always have, the imprezas have always been beyond on tech.
Subaru underseer like crazy man then oversteers interesting
All of them do. Its painful to watch. After a few laps its terminal understeer. I dont know why the manufacturer insisted on it being like that. Every race is lost on the cars dreadful handling
@@weallfollowmanutd its cuz the impreza is the only car there thats not track oriented. even the STI is meant for everyday use, especially in low traction areas, but the awd is much simpler than the evos AYC system; id bet the automatic wrx or legacys might to better for track because they have more sophisticated awd systems than their MT counterparts.
Mitsubishi GSR number One best always winners

@@ramiahwhitney9 and you know the NSX will beat the Impreza, all are professionals but not drive the same way 😉
You know the nsx was riding at 140c oil temps so had to back off
lol this isn't normal race, this is endurance. that's why every car has oil and water temperature. nsx and csl can't push it's limit due to oild temp.
professional driver knows what's best for the car in terms of endurance.
Evo destroying hype cars as usual.
Evo is the king of the tracks
yes bro👍
Like fuck fanboy, evo are shitboxes and type r Honda is king of the tracks...k series engines shit on gutless 4g63 garbage..
Not really. The NSX it's still the better and faster car. But this is an endurance with the goal of keeping the temps down.. that's why the M3 and the NSX-R slow down both NA and the Turbos were happy with the cool temps.
@@ToyotaAristo As a fan of Honda don't be so upset and find excuse for getting defeated, NSX is faster than Evo on the straight but not on the corners. NSX can be faster due to the light weight, two doors and twin turbo. Evo and impreza are 4 doors, heavy weight, single turbo and only 280hp for maximum still can able to defeat the two doors sport cars so the doors 4 should be the best.
@@Japsown what??? NSX is not twin turbo and the NSX-R, EVO and RX-7 RS are all 1:04 capable in this track. And the evo is not "heavyweight" in fact its a very light awd car that's why it is fast in short tracks but in Nurburgring is 20+ slower to the NSX-R. The subaru is not even competition to the evo or the NSX.. Name one japanese car with with a better chassis, better driving experience, better aerodynamic, better everyday usability and reliable as a Honda v6.

Not sure what happened in this race. Nsx was about to pass the Impreza then backed way off. The M3 was about to pass the nsx then backed way off. You can really see it when you compared their best laps with the worse laps.
Overheating i guess. At @6.30 they even mark the screen with the temp
maybe that's because it got too hot for the car? or just the drivers slowed down for cooling the car a bit
It is not possible that it was too hot far a NA engine and the turbo engines were ok despite the full throttle for 5 laps. It's a joke
@@saffasa I don't know, just guessing from the images in the video. And they clearly show the M3 running hot. I suppose the other engines have better cooling systems?
@@saffasa But I agree, the turbo engines should logically run warmer
secuential vs manual... is not the = league (not equal)
The M3 CSL always comes with SMG. The normal M3 wouldn't be the better choice for this track battle.
There's no way that M3 CSL would have easily beaten the other cars in standard euro trim. Same with the NSX-R it would easily Beag the imprezza and evo on track if all.were standard

@@brunosuicida6791 yes. Poor tarmac and a slow circuit needs AWD cars
@@brunosuicida6791 you need to learn more about the NSX , it’s not the car it’s the driver 😉
To an extent I agree. The M3 CSL has a Nürburgring time of 7 mins 56 sec, compared to the EVO 8 GSR time of 8 mins 15 sec. But it also comes down to the track, and the driver...
Poor engine on the NSX. The oil mustve been like jelly at the end
RX−7ではなくて8…
FD RX7 is a different kinda beast. RX7 is much faster than an 8.
E46 M3 CSL's driver was a total joke or he was told to hold back his car. That S54 barely seen it's rev limit, if any at all. These cars are not in the league of the E46 M3, let alone the CSL.
Yes, I agree. It is so obvious that the CSL was holding back, the whole time. And I don't know why they need to do that so obviously? NSX is a really really special, I respect it but the CSL should easily taken it
CSL is an expensive car with an expensive engine.Neither the nsx-r driver push hard cause of the conditions. It wasn't a 3 laps battle full throttle. It was a 20min race in very hot conditions. If they try to push hard all the race the possibilities of an engine failure were really high. That's the reason of the water/oil temperature gauges in each car. When the oil temperature is above 130 celsius the engine is in danger. If it's over the 140 celsius the oil basicaly does nothing to lubricate,it's like water. So the engine failure is very close if you keep pushing near the rev limit. That's the reason they hold back.To protect the engine. And you're wrong about the csl and the nsx-r.Never an e46 csl was better than the na2 nsx-r.
Yes i totaly agree
I do agree too, the CSL has a faster Nürburgring time than all of the other vehicles in this video by a somewhat decent margin. But the CSL's oil temp went up pretty high according to the video, so I'm assuming he decided to back off at that point. I will say though that this isn't the first race where some weird things happened with these guys.
Then that would be the fault of the shitty SMG trans then...
CSL has the wrong wheels - would have worked against it. NSX-R though 👹

It's obvious that the European vehicles are never running 100% on best motoring they drive will npcs lmao
@@fortheapex fun fact this filmed in Summer, means it's super hot in Japan 🤣
That's why the NA is losing a bit
Sorry, this race is absolutely cheated. (1) NSX-R and CSL lose ground on the straights?? (2) Both n/a have higher oil temperatures than the turbos?? NOT possible!! turbos must be tuned in power and cooling system or NSX-R and CSL complete air intakes have been sealed to reduce power via spark reduction and to increase temperatures. NSX-R and CSL belong to the fastest cars on the 21km Nordschleife and after two laps in Tsukuba oil temperatures are exploding??? Sorry guys, no way!!

Very inaccurate results as usual on these Japanese Racing channels M3 should've been first Evo second NSX third RX8 4th STI 5th Acura 6th somehow they got it the complete opposite but i guess its a Japanese channel so they have to make the Japanese car win or they will lose their jobs
