This video is incredibly underrated for how well made it is. The scenery together with the sharpness and the quality of the camera is really something I haven't seen in any other video on this site. Everything about this video is stunning. First the scenery. Living in the US, I had no idea the Pyrenees were so beautiful. The natural beauty of the mountains, valleys, rivers, and streams are spectacular. Next is the cinematography, again stunning! the wide angle vistas, the framing, the time-lapse shots, the drone photography, the astrophotography...everything about this film looks like it's a big budget movie with a famous DP. And last I'll say the vibe for lack of a better term. I love the absence of VO or commentary, the natural sounds, the minimalist music. This allows the viewer to really experience the natural beauty of the landscapes and appreciate the scale. I'm impressed that Harmen is both an experienced long haul solo hiker with the skills to camp in fairly extreme places, walk really long distances each day, AND take the time to frame up these shots and capture such excellent footage. Well done, bravo!

The Pyrénées is my favorite mountain range I have to say, the isolation, the locals, the dead-end valleys, the two very different sides, the storms in late summer, the wild life, the izards... I hiked Ordesa in the 90s as a young man, hope to return with my kid one day. The soundtrack, the shots, the audio production - it all combines seamlessly in a way that makes the viewer feel completely immersed, like they're right there on the trail with you. My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of spending a week hiking throughout Ordesa and the neighboring valleys this past summer and this video brought all those wonderful memories flooding back - I was sat here in my living room smiling like a blissful idiot anytime I recognized a spot I'd been - so thank you for bringing me back to such happy times. Beautiful work of art! I especially appreciate the time lapses which tell a story, take up battery and memory card. Thank you for filming the bad weather challenges also. Very complete story of your journey. Photography is excellent. The landscape is magical. The talus looked challenging. Well done.

Sound like you know something about shooting timelapses. (; The battery is the biggest problem, I bring 9 batteries these days, and charge them whenever I can. One night timelapse = 1 battery ... Thank you for the comment!

    Precioso metraje, gracias

Browsing UA-cam after a busy day at work I came across this video. 30 minutes later and I have been treated to a beautiful work. A friend and I spent a some days in Ordesa a few years ago and I left with great memories. Your video has reminded me how beautiful it is and that I need to return. Great editing, with some unusual memorable clips, breaking the ice being one. Thanks for helping me unwind, inspirational 👍

Beautiful, your editing is amazing as your images. I love that part of the Pyrenees and I went there many times. But I never dared to swim in the lake of Tuquerouye, which is also known as "the frozen lake" as it is indeed frozen more than half of the year. Thank you for sharing your hike and your great effort to bring it all together in such professional video work.

Thanks! I wouldn't call it swimming, but more dipping. ('; It was really cold! But I found out afterwards it's officially not allowed to swim in the lakes in the park ...

I thank you for gracing us with such art, Harmen. This particular video inspired me to embark on an almost similar route solo this July. I followed your route for the first 3.5 days but instead of crossing back into Spain at Col du Mulets I carried on to Refuge Wallon, passing an amazing lake on the way where people were swimming and fishing. The following day (day 5) I crossed into Spain at Port du Marcadau, joining the GR11 and followed it down to Baños de Panticosa where I chilled for a couple hours before heading up to Lac de Brazato to spend the night. Day 6 saw me follow the route to Refuge Bujaruelo where I chilled with fellow hikers before finding a more secluded spot to set up camp. The final day was the not so exciting journey back to Torla which you avoided. My camera skills aren’t a touch on yours but at least I can rewatch this video time and time again to remind myself of the scenery we’ve both been so lucky to experience. Thanks again!
    Nathan

So sweet; thanks so much! I've always been curious about the Pyrenees. Very much reminds me of my home -- Colorado, USA -- with diversity of geology, rocky creeks, pines, alpenglow, waterfalls, weather. We don't have cowbells, though, and few huts, as we call them. I come from an ancient techno time -- my mountain days in the 1970s and 80s. No mini video cams, iPhones, editing, etc. I wish I had such a record of my months, or maybe years, combined, of mountain travel. Ah, well, it's beyond exceptional to see your work. It's hugely appreciated. (Oh, Big Agnes, from Steamboat Springs, Colo! I have same one...my fourth tent over the years. Cheers, and be well.)
