Everything about this video is stunning. First the scenery. Living in the US, I had no idea the Pyrenees were so beautiful. The natural beauty of the mountains, valleys, rivers, and streams are spectacular. Next is the cinematography, again stunning! the wide angle vistas, the framing, the time-lapse shots, the drone photography, the astrophotography...everything about this film looks like it's a big budget movie with a famous DP. And last I'll say the vibe for lack of a better term. I love the absence of VO or commentary, the natural sounds, the minimalist music. This allows the viewer to really experience the natural beauty of the landscapes and appreciate the scale. I'm impressed that Harmen is both an experienced long haul solo hiker with the skills to camp in fairly extreme places, walk really long distances each day, AND take the time to frame up these shots and capture such excellent footage. Well done, bravo!

Much appreciated! I love adding a cinematic touch to the video and plan on taking it a next level on my next trip (in 2 weeks). Thanks for the comment!
Wonderful! Being a 'local', I know and have hiked all the places you show. I have fond memories of Ordesa and the amazing Faja de las Flores... I am full of admiration for your ability to shoot such beautiful - peaceful and poetic - images on your own. To put it short, that was perfect. The only aspect that wasn't was the weather. You were not very lucky, last Summer was dreadful. But that was beyond your command, unfortunately.
@@HarmenHoek Yes, indeed, great trip! As a local, I would just want to add that there were a few steps where I would recommend a little bit more precaution (the chimneys of the North Face of Monte Perdido can have bad steps, maybe better to rappel them with a 40 m rope and a helmet! and crampons on the glacier section!) I don't want to sound bothering, I am glad you enjoyed (it's more of a recommendation for future interested people in the route). Cheers!

Very complete story of your journey. Photography is excellent. The landscape is magical. The talus looked challenging. Well done.

Hello how are you doing today nice to meet you my name is Steve David am from West Palm Beach Florida USA and you what is your name and where are you from.
Precioso metraje, gracias
There are no unnecessary conversations in all your videos, there is no effort to reveal a feature of you, you just leave us alone with magnificent views. I relax while watching videos. The selected music is magnificent. Most importantly, the videos you took during this solo walk are of very high quality. There are no frames in motion. It is really difficult and laborious to put the camera at a point, go for meters, turn around and get the camera again and do it over and over. I heartily congratulate you....
Great job, my sincere congratulations. You are an inspirer for all mountain and nature lovers
So well made! I’ve hiked most mountains in US including Alaska, Swiss and German Alps, NZ… Pyrenees still on my list. You make them very appealing. I’ve been a filmmaker and this video is SO well made and edited. Thank you.
Astonishing quality film - the camera work, editing, subtly understated soundtrack and of course, the breath-taking locations are all superb. The fact that you achieved all of the above single handed, not to mention hiking all that challenging terrain is truly impressive. Thank you Harmen, can't wait to discover more of your films.
Im sitting in Barcelona, on my way back home, rewatching this after my own first solo hike trip in an amazing landscape, very much inspired by this video. One week in Ordesa, climbing the fajas and making it to Mount Perdido summit too. What a trip! So thank you very much for this great inspiration 😊

I thank you for gracing us with such art, Harmen. This particular video inspired me to embark on an almost similar route solo this July. I followed your route for the first 3.5 days but instead of crossing back into Spain at Col du Mulets I carried on to Refuge Wallon, passing an amazing lake on the way where people were swimming and fishing. The following day (day 5) I crossed into Spain at Port du Marcadau, joining the GR11 and followed it down to Baños de Panticosa where I chilled for a couple hours before heading up to Lac de Brazato to spend the night. Day 6 saw me follow the route to Refuge Bujaruelo where I chilled with fellow hikers before finding a more secluded spot to set up camp. The final day was the not so exciting journey back to Torla which you avoided. My camera skills aren’t a touch on yours but at least I can rewatch this video time and time again to remind myself of the scenery we’ve both been so lucky to experience. Thanks again! Nathan
@@stemack1975Hey Steve, sorry for such a delayed reply. I can give you more details regarding the route, conditions, camping spots and whatever else you want to know? I’d obviously be giving advice and info based on my own point of view but I’d hope it would be helpful.

The quality of your videos is great, some real top end work here... Amazing. As an avid french hiker, I cannot help but recommend some of my favorite areas to you. I've explored all of the Alps, not on long hikes, but I can tell you that you would be a happy man in place like the Queyras mountains (no glaciers, but truly unspoiled by ski resorts), my favorite area. It just feels genuine and charming. Nearby are also two of the most beautiful corners of the Alps : the Vallée de la Clarée, North of Briançon, with amazing alpine lakes and a stunning larch forest that turns completely orange in October, and the Ecrins National Park, a much bigger area with the most beautiful glaciers in the french alps, and in my opinion the most stunning display of alpine flowers in July. Some areas are more popular, like around La Grave or La Chappelle en Valgaudemar, but if you want a place forgotten by time, start at Le Desert en Valjouffrey and you'll be amazed.
This is some true quality advice. Thanks! I was just recently scrolling the European terrain maps looking for new places to hike in the Alps. I've written down all the options. Thanks a lot
I wish I could have the chance to take this hike. Backpacking this range has always been my ultimate dream in life. 1 of just 5 cornerstones that I truly want to achieve. Maybe someday soon. Well done.

Much appreciated! I love adding a cinematic touch to the video and plan on taking it a next level on my next trip (in 2 weeks). Thanks for the comment!
I'm a Kraig Adams fan but honestly, this video was amazing! Can't wait to see more! ♥️
I love Kraig Adams also, but Herman is on another level.
The sceneries are majestic. There's something about this video that feels calm and peaceful.
It gives me power, hope and joy. Thank you.
Awesome! Thanks
Hearing that from local is a great compliment. Thanks a lot!
Cheers!
@@peckinpah6209 Hi! I agree, I am a little careless sometimes ... If anyone want to do this hike they probably head to harmenhoek.com for the route, where I explain the dangers and highly recommend using ropes and crampons. Thanks!
@@HarmenHoek great!!
Sometimes the weather just isn't right. Bloody weather!
Beautiful work of art! I especially appreciate the time lapses which tell a story, take up battery and memory card. Thank you for filming the bad weather challenges also. Very complete story of your journey. Photography is excellent. The landscape is magical. The talus looked challenging. Well done.
Sound like you know something about shooting timelapses. (; The battery is the biggest problem, I bring 9 batteries these days, and charge them whenever I can. One night timelapse = 1 battery ... Thank you for the comment!
I had no idea the Pyrenees were so majestic. Great job taking us there, thanks.
They are! Thanks you too.
“Agradezco el video. La naturaleza nos brinda su esplendor y nos invita a explorar cada rincón. ¡Una experiencia verdaderamente maravillosa!” 🌿🏞
Beyond totally awesome. Chapeau, Harmen.
Hello how are you doing today nice to meet you my name is Steve David am from West Palm Beach Florida USA and you what is your name and where are you from.
Thanks for the compliments! I
Great job, my sincere congratulations. You are an inspirer for all mountain and nature lovers
Muchas gracias Daniel! Gracias!
Very beautiful. Nice that he took time to appreciate the views. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
legendary stuff i try to get 3 days in a row with hiking and you are just doin 115 km in a beautiful country
Great to hear! It's such a beautiful area!
@@HarmenHoek It sure is! And thank you again for putting so much effort into both the enjoyable videos and the very relevant information about your hikes. Very useful for an unexperienced hiker like myself 😊👍
Sitting in Poland looking for cheap flights to spain and a way to get up in to the Pyrenees from Zaragozza
I am absolutely speechless.. Well done.
Excellent photography, drone work outstanding. Very very nice work. I am 77 years old and would have never experienced the views you showed me. Thank you very much!
*MasyaAllah.. a very beautiful view, a peaceful and comfortable place.. I just found your video, and I am very amazed by the beauty of the scenery and nature there.. I feel like coming there and seeing it directly..
but that's a long way off, and thanks for sharing that great view. Warm greetings from Indonesia* 🇮🇩
Amazing work Harmen. You have a fan for life in me. Best wishes man.
I appreciate that! Comments like these make it all worth the effort for me. (:
Nathan
Hey Nathan do you have any more information on the hike ? and know anywhere I can get information so I can do a solo trek with my dog thanks steven
@@stemack1975Hey Steve, sorry for such a delayed reply. I can give you more details regarding the route, conditions, camping spots and whatever else you want to know? I’d obviously be giving advice and info based on my own point of view but I’d hope it would be helpful.
i wish i was there, it'll be great to see all that scenery in person, I'll cry.
I appreciate your hiking tours in the company of good yourself, of the mountains, of great horizons and the perception of freedom that i suppose follows from this choise. From such journeys of the body and mind one returns satiaded with peace and beauty and knowlegde. Seductive, well-edited videos, stunning footage and whit clever soundtracks. Really thank you for another amazing sharing
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for the comment.
Drone shots around 12:00 are HIGHLY skilled and VERY cinematic. Great video man!
Another cinematic masterpiece, what a great trek.
Much appreciated! It was a great trek indeed.
Like a meditation. Thank you so much for taking us......❤️🙏🙏
Glad you enjoyed it
What a wonderful film and nature. Wish I were there and could share it with people on my channel.
Another absolutely stunning video! Gorgeous scenery, and amazing footage.
Thank you so much 😀
The quality of your videos is great, some real top end work here...
I love how you filmed this. Truly wonderful!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have never seen such a beautiful place and hiking video
Thank you!
I wish I could have the chance to take this hike. Backpacking this range has always been my ultimate dream in life. 1 of just 5 cornerstones that I truly want to achieve. Maybe someday soon. Well done.
So proud of you! Well done!
Thank you mum! :D
5:15 is one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen. Cool effect on ice. Great, great video! Spain is such an underrated gem. I hope to trek these spots one day. Thanks!
Couldn't agree more, Spain is beautiful! Thanks a lot!
Spain is underrated ? By who ?
@@siriosstar4789 for the mountain trips in Europe, the most common destination is the Alps.
It's a bigger mointain chain that goes across 4-5 countries.
Sadly the pyrennees dont get the view and publicity they deserve
Thank you for that amazing journey! I appreciate the time and effort you put into filming...all the extra gear you carried.
My pleasure!
When you watch all these solo videos, keep one thing in mind. The smaller the person you find in these images and clips, the longer the distance they made just for filming each one of these, and more effort they took. Salute to the vlogger🖖🖖
so beautiful and so peaceful ... thank you! Love the idea of a transparent tent so as to not miss a thing ... I'm a fan
Beautiful, your editing is amazing as your images. I love that part of the Pyrenees and I went there many times. But I never dared to swim in the lake of Tuquerouye, which is also known as "the frozen lake" as it is indeed frozen more than half of the year. Thank you for sharing your hike and your great effort to bring it all together in such professional video work.
Thanks! I wouldn't call it swimming, but more dipping. ('; It was really cold! But I found out afterwards it's officially not allowed to swim in the lakes in the park ...
Very calming to watch! Thanks for the time and effort for making this. Can’t imagine how many times and how much further you walked to set up the camera and collect it. 🙈
Totally agree
Not just walked but climbed! I was like no way in hell he just climbed down, set up the camera, climbed up again and came down 😂
Thanks for pointing it out.
Beautifully done. The Sound of Silence up in the Pyrenees.
Thanks!
We realise how insignificant we are in the grand scale of things yet the perspective of humans never ceases to amaze.
Couldn't agree more!
Maybe people follow you because you don't speak in your videos and leave room for nature. I salute you ❤❤❤❤Free Palestine
Why do you have to bring it into everything
What a beautiful vidéo.
We can really feel the ambiane of the Pyrenees.
Congratulations 👏👏
Pyrénées ❤❤
Thanks a lot 😊
Ein Wahnsinns Film. Danke für deine Mühe und Arbeit. Kannst du mir dein Equipment nennen welches du benutzt. Also Kleidung, Zelt usw. Danke dir im vor aus.
This could be my favorite video on UA-cam. Amazing work!
Every single shot is a perfection of composition, natural beauty and inspiration, waou! No superficial sounds, no extravagant color grading, just the raw beauty of our world. Thank you so much for this breathtaking and relaxing half hour, all the best to you ✨✨
This is simply awesome as usual 🙌🏼
Your solo travel films are turning into my Friday night plan lately 😄 Congrats!
PS: you inspired my last UA-cam video!! (And I mention you in there of course :))
All the best dude!
Awesome! Watched your video. Great job and beautiful area for hiking!
@@HarmenHoekthanks! 🙏🏼 Let me know if you come around and we may go hiking together 😉
Thank you for pointing that out, I'll consider it next time.
@@HarmenHoek don't worry man you have my permission to do so, don't listen to this assholes, if they think like that they are not mountain people like us, I wonder if they even are from here being this bossy lol
This really makes me realise how much more I need to explore the area I live in 😂 so many beautiful locations I haven’t seen yet. Stunning video ❤

Super excited about this!
Thanks you for sharing my own land in such a beautiful way. However, swimming on the ibones is not allowed and you should not have done it. The ibones are protected by law spaces.
Shut up
Thank you for pointing that out. I will consider it next time.
This person is really impressive.
Wow, wat een prachtige beelden!
