Thumbs up and sub, i have always been an above average hunter, but something about this new xpac felt off and i wasnt competing with the other dps in my raid as well as i had in the past. Silly me through all this didnt realize that Marked shots re-applies vulnerable. derp. DPS jumped from 250k to well over 300k on single target and the opening burst went from about 350k to 550k. Thank you!
Weak-Auras2 is the name of the addon that is used to keep track of addons. You can anchor it to your Elvui and add more to it if you need to keep track of something that is not shown. You can also import profiles as well so be sure to look around as in regards to what works best for you!
Hi Kelani! Great video! I've got a couple quick questions for ya. With your cyclical rotation you mention squeezing in an aimed shot between your Sidewinders and your Marked Shot - yet with your opener you were going Sidewinders straight into Marked Shots. Is fitting more Side/Marked combos into the buff the most important part of the opener? I guess the other concern would be how to handle an opener under Bloodlust, what's the correct priority for the rotation when we've got that much haste? Regardless, thanks so much for this video. It's super helpful for a more visual learner like myself!
The opener is to squeeze in as many marked shots as possible - and with the haste you have you can get the 3x aimed shots in after marked shot anyways. With BL it's the same deal, except you can actually get 4 sidewinders/marked shots off if BL is cast right at the start of the fight! Just be sure to get those aimed shot casts in as much as possible too!
The stack is minor effect compared to the base damage or barrage but it does come in handy when Vs'ing boss's due to barrage relying on a range of mobs to hit ., mainly i use crows it because it average's around 1.2 million damage for me currently and Barrage only does 200-600k depending on how many mobs are been hit . Even tho Crow's has a 1 minute CD the mob the raid or group is attacking generally is killed within the first 10 seconds of the DOT been added and i can instantly re-apply to the next mob . Barrage does deal a lot of dps , however it tends to pull unnecessary mobs and is fairly weak if your only attacking 1 mob imo and i prefer to have control over what i can pull :) . The 20 second CD on barrage is very helpful but costs a lot of focus for a short spell at only 2.7 seconds , while the crows only need 30 focus and last 15 seconds and deals two times the damage .
Roadrunt You're forgetting that Barrage means dealing damage for a total of 15 times in 3 seconds flat, ergo a stack of 15 of Bullseye. If you're uncomfortable with Barrage, definitely take Crows. Any other situation, Barrage wins all the time. Get comfortable with it's range (shots that visually travel farther might pass Barrage's range and thus not hit), and set a macro to cast misdirection on your focus - set your focus to the tank. Even if you trip up and Barrage somehow decides to pull 5 seagulls that are flying way overhead, you can divert them to the tank and make a shitty situation way more manageable.
what this addon that appears the arrows on the side of his character when procs passive vulnerable and appears over you when procs the passive lock and load? and if possible podde spend it here?
My problem is that i'm constantly paranoid, fearing pulling with side winders and barrage, so I'm left not using thme (barrage especially) as much as I can. Trouble is that barrage will hit anything, and It's impossible to predict just how far or wide the cone actually goes, and when at a good distance, sidewinders sometimes just fly off and hit grps that arent pulled yet. I really get bad nerves when running eye of aszhara, or halls of valor of because of this, any advice?

Thanks for the awesome video, however i have a question: Most of the times i am really low on focus and do not have the required focus for x3 aimed shot, and i often find myself waiting for focus in order to cast another Aimed shot, Barrage or Windburst, I don't know if it is some sort of stat issue or I am just doing it wrong? Currently i am 852 ilvl and i have 24% Mastery, 12% Haste and 26% crit. I can counter this issue with the Steady Focus talent instead of Lonewolf and often i find myself having a more smooth rotation and even doing more damage with this setup. I hope you can help me out.
@SignsOfKelani can you upload the paste data only for the weakauras addon with the hunter buffs and debuffs cause im not using any custom ui so i can import the settings. i tried to get it working but i didnt figured out how to do it with multi target settings. i would be pleased if you can do it

Great vid. If you have the legendary ring do you spam the extra marked shots or do you splice them with aimed shots like the first one? I find that throws off the whole rotation and I don't get to barrage or windburst if the ring procs 2/3 markshots.
I thought when you get a marked target proc you only marked shot near end of proc not as soon as you get it like you are doing here? Normally I get proc use 2-3 Aimed shots then just as it runs out I would use marked shot. Has this changed then?
You can aimed shots twice before marked if you really want to, but you'll typically only get one aimed shot off after marked due to focus restrictions. Either way you have 3x aimed and 1x marked in the same duration. You also *have* to make sure vun will be up for your marked shot.
barry lewis It's a good habit to do 1 aimed, your marked, and then 2 aimed. You want to stick on the safe side with getting your marked out asap. Might even prioritize marked over your aimed when dealing with a *lot* of adds (and haste increase from trueshot/timewarp).
This is a very good guide. I have a question regards choosing gears. I understand mastery is the priority stat, but I don't always get this kind of gears. All those upgrades I get are huge critical + some mastery, the item levels are like maybe 5 or 10 higher. Should I keep them as my upgrade gears?

BM deals with a lot of clustered adds very well, while MM deals with spread out adds far better. The majority of raid encounters we see right now are either single target (where MM pulls ahead until BM reaches 26 traits) or fights with a lot of spread out adds that BM can't reach, but MM can hit pretty much everything very easily. Right now it's simply due to the types of encounters we have in Emerald Nightmare. As for which spec to play - it's really up to you. MM works very well in dungeons so you can happily keep going for MM if that's what you enjoy!
I've recently installed elvui and pretty much have it set just how I like it, except one thing and I can't figure out how to fix it. On your screen, when vulnerable and marked shot are active, you have two bars showing this duration near the center of your screen. I can't seem to figure out how to move those bars currently positioned underneath my minimap. I'd like to move it right above my main actionbar. Please help :)
what are stat priorities ? usually i been taking master>agility>crit>haste>versatility. BUt my Pawn has been giving weird things where it notes somethign with haste mastery priority over mastery crit
My pawn seems to do the opposite, it values mastery and crit over haste. I currently have like 31% crit, but only 11% haste. I am wondering if it would be worthwhile to swap out some gear over time to reduce my crit and boost my haste up.

i would love if you if could tell me how you avoid your nameplates from stacking. in this xpac blizzard removed spreading nameplates option and the way nameplates behave now is real pain in the ass.. but i noticed they spread nicely in your video

Shane Ward Dump excess focus in aimed shots and let loose your 2nd stack of sidewinders on CD. Maybe even pop in a bursting shot. Nothing else to do :(
i would also appreciate if you explained to me why its important to have that autoattack macro if you are guaranted to have marking target proc anyways when you use sidewinders during trueshot and why you dont keep your standard rotation during trueshot but you use marked shot right after sidewinders. thanks in advance

can u writ the rotation u doing in the video in the comment? Its going too fast in the video so i dont get it, or show the buttons u pressing in slowmotion?
would you stack Trueshot aura with bloodlust? wouldn't stacking the haste buffs have diminishing returns? if lusting on pull would you instead wait for trinket procs?
For pulls the trueshot is also giving you guaranteed marking targets for your marked shots. You'll also find that with Trueshot + BL on pull you can manage 4x Sidewinders/Marked Shots during your Trueshot, giving you that extra bit of oomf!
I havent played in a long time, since BC. I want to play a hunter but not sure whether to go BM or MM. MM seems to be the higher DPS spec but BM seems as if its easier to play? As far as getting back into the game, would going MM be going over my head? Can i hold my own as BM? Id love to hear some thoughts from you or anyone else that would like to comment. Thanks!
Christian Acevedo Do MM, you're not managing a pet that, after all these years, still tends to wander and you do phat deeps. Plus with Lone Wolf + Black Arrow you can solo all quest content. No need for pets as Black Arrow taunts for you. Slow big guys coming at you between Black Arrow cooldowns, or stun them with Binding Shot. Very versatile and mobile spec. Loving it.
Do you still think that mm is stronger than bm after the recent nerfs? i dont have the best gear (847) nor do i have alot of artefact traits unlocked on my mm but bm appears rly strong to me since the patch.
Damn dude, you said Beast Master was better in a previous video so I spent all of my artifacts power on beast mastery... And now you say MM is better? Does it actually make that much of a difference? How much of DPS will I gain switching from BM to MM?
BM is a bit more consistent, but if you hit your procs with MM, you will blow BM's damage out of the water. I swear, the only guy in my guild who can top my damage is a fully geared DH. And this was pre-DH nerf. Haven't raided with him since last week. I might be higher now!
Just simcraft the weights yourself - there is a decent pawn string given in the Marksman Hunter guide on Icy Veins but the best option is to always sim it with your gear to see what stat you should be focusing next.
Ivan Bucchioni what exactly would I type in UA-cam for a guide on how to figure weights? I've watched instructional videos on sim craft it self but they all seem very generalized.
Having said that I will never play a spec that goes against the class with no pet perks and talents it is as silly to me an immersion breaking like a melee mage getting buffs from not casting spells lol no ty idc how good the dps is :) Since i am not a cutting edge raider Id rather have fun an take 5 to 12k less dps.
If you manage to get to your Titans Thunder you can do some crazy dps! But give MM a try if you haven't already - it can be super intimidating, but when you throw off 10+ marked shots on a crazy aoe pull and see that 1mil+ dps, you won't look back!

As Nakki said, keep an eye on Icy Veins. Azor does an amazing job at keeping the trinket list up to date. If you want more specifics I'd suggest getting SimCraft and learning it yourself - always going to be better if you can put the time in.
No...it's really not. I think some people are looking at some sims that show survival really high and assume that means they are good, but the reality is that they don't actually perform that well and they're filling a melee spot when other classes fill that same spot with much better performance and utility. This isn't about people not caring and it's not about people just being biased against melee hunters (Surv is fun as hell and I wish it was the best spec), but the facts are the facts...
i main a survival bro they perform very well if u play them correctly. im hoping to see the spec get more attention from devs cause its obvious they show little attention and it needs some refining
What ever happened to archers having to actually draw arrows? Look at that absolutely stupid amount of shots going out! XD This is fantasy, I get that, but we're wielding bows, crossbows and muzzle-loading black powder rifles.... not M16's and Van Helsing's auto-crossbow...

I think crows on pure ST could be ahead, which might be only Nythendra for now, but totally worth testing!

I would suggest using the crows once you get 20+ on your artifact as it uses less focus allowing you to get the 20 crit stack easier .

That's all great for a standing hunter but what about a 'moving' rotation? My DPS seems to have plateaued and I can't get it any higher.

can u writ the rotation u doing in the video in the comment? Its going too fast in the video so i dont get it, or show the buttons u pressing in slowmotion?

would you stack Trueshot aura with bloodlust? wouldn't stacking the haste buffs have diminishing returns? if lusting on pull would you instead wait for trinket procs?
For pulls the trueshot is also giving you guaranteed marking targets for your marked shots. You'll also find that with Trueshot + BL on pull you can manage 4x Sidewinders/Marked Shots during your Trueshot, giving you that extra bit of oomf!

If you enjoy playing with a pet, go for it! It might not be as much damage, but if you're not on the cutting edge of progression go for what's fun!

Hey, as of 7.1 is this info all accurate? I mean mainly the rotation stuff.
I havent played in a long time, since BC. I want to play a hunter but not sure whether to go BM or MM. MM seems to be the higher DPS spec but BM seems as if its easier to play? As far as getting back into the game, would going MM be going over my head? Can i hold my own as BM? Id love to hear some thoughts from you or anyone else that would like to comment. Thanks!
Christian Acevedo Do MM, you're not managing a pet that, after all these years, still tends to wander and you do phat deeps. Plus with Lone Wolf + Black Arrow you can solo all quest content. No need for pets as Black Arrow taunts for you. Slow big guys coming at you between Black Arrow cooldowns, or stun them with Binding Shot. Very versatile and mobile spec. Loving it.

Do you still think that mm is stronger than bm after the recent nerfs? i dont have the best gear (847) nor do i have alot of artefact traits unlocked on my mm but bm appears rly strong to me since the patch.
100%. The BM buff was 5% on BW. I was on the BM train until I seriously gave MM a try, now I sort of regret spending so much AP into BM, but oh well!

Damn dude, you said Beast Master was better in a previous video so I spent all of my artifacts power on beast mastery... And now you say MM is better? Does it actually make that much of a difference? How much of DPS will I gain switching from BM to MM?
I believe he said that bm was best for mythic dungeons, while mm is better for raids.
BM is a bit more consistent, but if you hit your procs with MM, you will blow BM's damage out of the water. I swear, the only guy in my guild who can top my damage is a fully geared DH. And this was pre-DH nerf. Haven't raided with him since last week. I might be higher now!

Just simcraft the weights yourself - there is a decent pawn string given in the Marksman Hunter guide on Icy Veins but the best option is to always sim it with your gear to see what stat you should be focusing next.
Ivan Bucchioni what exactly would I type in UA-cam for a guide on how to figure weights? I've watched instructional videos on sim craft it self but they all seem very generalized.

Having said that I will never play a spec that goes against the class with no pet perks and talents it is as silly to me an immersion breaking like a melee mage getting buffs from not casting spells lol no ty idc how good the dps is :) Since i am not a cutting edge raider Id rather have fun an take 5 to 12k less dps.
I guess I'll keep to mythic+ as I am full on BM...
Bm and MM gear is pretty much the same , you will just have to get you MM aritfact leveled up.
If you manage to get to your Titans Thunder you can do some crazy dps! But give MM a try if you haven't already - it can be super intimidating, but when you throw off 10+ marked shots on a crazy aoe pull and see that 1mil+ dps, you won't look back!

There is list for BiS trinkets. In short: Ursoc drops BiS single target trinket and Elerethe Renferal BiS AoE one.
As Nakki said, keep an eye on Icy Veins. Azor does an amazing job at keeping the trinket list up to date. If you want more specifics I'd suggest getting SimCraft and learning it yourself - always going to be better if you can put the time in.

No...it's really not. I think some people are looking at some sims that show survival really high and assume that means they are good, but the reality is that they don't actually perform that well and they're filling a melee spot when other classes fill that same spot with much better performance and utility.
This isn't about people not caring and it's not about people just being biased against melee hunters (Surv is fun as hell and I wish it was the best spec), but the facts are the facts...
i main a survival bro they perform very well if u play them correctly. im hoping to see the spec get more attention from devs cause its obvious they show little attention and it needs some refining
