As soon as you slid the cardboard under the truck I felt a kinship. In south Arkansas we call that an Arkansas creeper. I have the deluxe model which is an old washing machine box. My neighbors are very envious. I let them use it sometimes. Great video.
Every time I watch your videos, I'm always impressed by the attention to detail. Especially how you clean the area you just finished working. Nice work! We need about 80,000 mechanics just like you!
Your videos are helpfull and funny, I ve learned a lot. Please make a video " 20 things about Faye " .. tattos, sports, food, tattos, Harvard, pets, music, tattos, cars, etc😀.
HAHAHAHAHA well, if this comment gets enough interest, maybe I will! As you will see in next Monday's video, I can be convinced to do some off-topic and non automotive related videos if I get enough interest and people buggin' me!! 😄👍🏻
Great Video , When I did mine front and rear I used a tool from Advance Auto which fit on the Quart bottle and just had a tube to screw on the bottle and squeeze the bottle and fill the Diff just as fast and no mess. mainly the front where there in no room to work! Dan.😀
Good job, most folks don't show the fluid they are putting in their vehicle. Toyota puts the odd oil thickness so dealerships recommend buying it to those who don't know. I wouldn't consider the drill thingy, too messy, bulky and extra work involved.
Good morning Faye! Caught you on tv the other day on the All Girls Garage. Myself and a few of really well known techs I know follow your on point work. I really digg you. It’s awesome you’re a full advocate of giving women knowledge on vehicle repairs and service, as well as being an on the road service tech. I wish you much success, and hope you get far in your quest to get more women up to speed on everything they need to know on understanding their vehicles. Also, think it’s time to get you a tool box truck......hint hint......
Faye Hadley it for sure counts. What I’m talking about, is an integration of all of your tools in your road service vehicle. You’ll never have to remove them. Only upgrade them when you want to. Not saying you have to, just helps to be able to just go. Don’t take my word and change what works for you. Keep doing what works for you. I’m a retired Automobile Service and Repair Tech who is a Honda specialist, and JDM tech as well. I used to move around and repair like you, until i began my job as a Telematics Communication tech. Everything from Freightliners down to Camry installs. Having what you need right there, is sooooo much easier. So much so, if you wanted to, you could do your repairs out of your truck in your videos. Like you are on the road repairing to show, it can be done anywhere, with the correct tools, and knowledge. Just an idea....
Faye, I have been into cars my whole life (well I guess not yet). Anyhow I have been turning wrenches for a living for over 22 years now and I appreciate your enthusiasm and knowledge. And that has nothing to do with being a girl mechanic, that has everything to do with enjoying what you do. I still enjoy my job even though it has changed a lot over the years, but so many people look at it as only a job and that's it. I also appreciate how you are empowering folks on these videos and your classes. Even if they never pick up a wrench, maybe it prevents someone from getting ripped off. Keep up your enjoyable videos and have a blessed day.
I just did this. I wish I had seen this video before hand! All the hours of researching to make sure I didn't screw it up, you had all that info in one video. Fortunately I did do it right. And yes, I do like the gear oil smell!
Thanks Faye. Saved me about $100. I bought a $6 pump at harbor freight, it came with hoses. The smell is horrendous. I don’t have solvent tank, so I threw the pump in the trash
Faye has a radio disc jocky voice. A woman with many many talents. I wanted to thank you for videos i have changed all the oils in my truck thanks to faye. I learned alot from you 💖
Ok, I’ve watched a few of your vids. Have to admit, you’re better than I thought you’d be. Being a fan of AGG, I’m glad muppet head left. But then the one that replaced her, was waaaaaay too goofy. When they brought you on, I have to say, you were a little.......I don’t know how to say it........maybe “cheerleaderish”? Anyway, in an effort to save myself here. Watching your videos, made me think, that it’s possible the producers of the show want you to “yuck it up” for TV. You are way more relaxed and, (not knowing you personally) yourself on here. So it might be possible they wanted the same from your predecessor. I don’t know. Just needed to say that. Anyway. you rock, girl. Loving your channel.
Great video, Faye. I'm glad you addressed the issue of 75W-85 vs. 75W-90. My Ford Mustang calls for the 75W-85 and I want to use Amsoil 75W-90. Now I know what to do. Amsoil, it is! Keep up the good work.
This might sound a little primal to some people, but on my Toyota's I used to cut a quarter inch hole in the bed pretty close to above the diff and I would sit the container I was using which is usually a gallon jug I put the amount of fluid needed in the bed and then would siphon it down into the diff from the bed...... It took a while because the fluid really thick but at least I could walk away and do something else while it was filling the diff.( I would do the same sort of thing with the manual transmission except just take the shift boot off to run a hose through and have the container of fluid sitting on a 5 gallon bucket on the passenger side floor.) Not lazy,....productivity counts! You know how many loose belts, bolts, fittings, and little issues I could find while looking around the truck waiting for these fluid siphons to finish? priceless.........
I am using Redline 75w85 in our GS350 F-Sport. It has 65K, so it's time. Will also use it in our old 2001 beloved Tundra 2ith 200K. Servicing the rear really smooths out the drivetrain, I've found. Thanks for the video; keep 'em coming.
Great video Faye, love your approach....the yard bird is fun too! I also struggled with the toyota purist thoughts but in the end and researching on the net I came to the conclusion that wasn't necessarily the way for me and saved alot of money too!
I’m so happy I found this channel...I’m biased because I own a 2003 Tacoma so it’s very useful to me personally...thanks for the good ideas, quality work and pleasant and fun presentation
If it's available- I would have gone with the Lucas Oil 75/90. I like the Lucas better than Valvoline. Be aware it is synthetic only. I use Lucas in the final gear of my shaft driven motorcycle. It seems to have better performance than other brands.
The best tip in this video that most people don't do is make sure you take fill plug out first . I've done that rookie mistake. Drain it first and wtf can't loosen fill plug. That makes a half hour job into a full day.. love your videos Faye. I know pretty much all mech. But I'd play dumb just to spend time with you. Ha ha
Haha that's fine, but I'd probably prefer to learn from your experience rather than have you play dumb :) I'm entirely self taught, and have learned so much from others. It's the best way to learn I feel - from others mistakes and stories!!
I needed ur help Thursday Faye, a truck I just bought needed a oil change, after an hour attempting to get the oil filter off I ended up taking the front bumper off and drivers fender wel out to get full access to the filter to punch threw with a screwdriver and using 4feet long PVC pipe as a pry bar that finally worked but it was still hard to get loose.. love all ur vids
Just use 75w90 the diff won't know the difference! The dealer probably buys 75w90 in bulk to be honest or like you said! But use Amsoil it is by far superior! Great videos Faye!!
@@FayeHadley great ideas for transferring fluids btw! Another one I've seen is use a garden sprayer replace the plastic tube and end with aluminium tubing! Great insight again and look forward to seeing you on AGG!! :)
There is enough room under my '03 Tundra to squeeze the fluid directly from the quart bottles, but that drill pump method looks like a good way to get the fluid inside the differential.
So glad I came across your videos! I'm a guy and it's good to see more women represented in the car business, ESPECIALLY on the service/repair side! I hear so many horror stories from my female co-workers about how they're ripped-off or outright lied to regarding car repair! I'll spread the word about your UA-cam channel and I can't wait for you to reach 1M subscribers!
As always another excellent video. Details are great, options are great and you always use a torque wrench! Bless you! And yes your editing is wonderful and fun.
great information Faye , I'd like to suggest checking the axle breather buy simply spinning the cap to be sure its not stuck when you service the differential . Mine got rusted shit & built enough pressure in the axle to burn one of the wheel seals out . I always look forward to your videos.
Great video BTW. I did use GL-5 on my diffs, both front and rear. However; on my 5spd. manual and transfer case, I used GL-4 rated MT-90 from Redline. This is on a 99 4Runner. Thank you. 👍
Yeah, working outdoors on a piece of cardboard. I find it usually works out just fine until it RAINS!!! Glad to see mother nature was kind you that day.
