a good tip for adhesive vinyl covering is to spray water on the sticky side before putting it on any surface this stops full contact to the surface and allows you to adjust vinyl, then just use a plastic bank card to flatten out any air pockets, the water will be pushed out & you get a professional finish, easy to do :)
What a fantastic job you did, looks great
05:32 easy way to avoid bubbles..first peel one cm or so of the white paper at the back and pull it slowly towards yourself.you can use a ruler to push the air in the bubbles out.
Thanks for the guide, but: Oh my good the music 😵💫
Thanks TSW great video which I wish I had found two days ago when I started installing mine. Thankfully my daughter & SIL finished it. Where I bought mine from supplied cheap flush hinges and getting them fitted was a nightmare. Great tip in getting T Trim around the bend which we didnt know. Only thing I would add is run a small screw drive around trim groove as much of mine had compacted saw dust in them. It might also be helpful to add here that the length of T Trim I used was 20m of 15mm trim. Like you we had numerous steel brackets to attach the cupboards to the van. Definitely now have anew sub.
Nice slippers.
Good video but music completely unnecessary
Well done mate, cheap and chearful but great result. Once again we'll done, 👍
Thanks for this my m8 has asked me to convert his vw van ,this i a great help
No problem :)
easy and cheap way for a camper.
Look's very good.
Thanks for showing.
Longtime test: has you to be carefuller than a normal wodden surface because of the foil?
I know that kit. It's for a VW Transporter. I was going to buy it and ship it Australia but by the time I added the freight it became so damn expensive and I still had to cover it and put shelves in it. There is nothing like this kit here and so it has to be done all by hand.
What did you fix them to the wall of the van with ..ie what did you screw them to on the van wall please x ps love the way you did them
Was that a swb unit in a lwb or was that the right size unit for that van
I love those campervan kits. They are not available where I live and shipping is too costly. I never knew that that vinyl shit would go over sharp edges! Learnt something. Also, I noticed you didn't do the inside of the doors. Is it doable?
where the doors the bits from when the panels where routered or cut separately from another piece
Hi, what kind of wood did you use?
Hello please I really need help on the push button fixing?
How did you get on with the push buttons I can’t figure mine out
So I'll guess it's a matter of screwing into carpet no further drilling or would you drill more holes? Curious to know how easy screwing into the floor
It was a case of into the hard carpet and into the wood underneath so didn't make contact with the metal flooring.
Looks smart, where did you get the bare boards?
eBay - There are loads of companies, I used Majestic Camper Supplies. When I do it again on my new van I would use plywood and not mdf (it tends to break apart and is heavy).
Did you have to join the vinyl or did you get one that was over 800 wide for wardrobe? Cheers
From memory yes as there wasn't any joins but this was a while ago.
Hi. Coulod you tell me where you bought the cupboards please? Thanks in advance
I got them from eBay. A company down in Devon I think. However these are MDF and they did break apart a little. If I was doing it again I would use plywood. More expensive but stronger and also lighter as they way a tonne!
Hi pal 👍 could I ask were you got the push button cupboard catches from?
Thanks Gary
They came with the doors as I bought a kit.
How did you warp the larger parts? And what screws did you use to fix it to the van?
Just very carefully and slowly, two people needed. One to roll the vinyl and one to smooth it down. It took some time. We ought wide rolls. Then small L brackets and self tappers into the floor and walls. Because there was wood there it was quite easy.
@@thescoutingwoodworker9250 spot on, thank you 👌🏻
Hi where did you get your vinyl wrap from? And how much did you need for the mdf units
I got the vinyl wrap from B&Q in the UK. I really can't remember but I knew we ran out and had to go and get more.
Hi any tips on how to scribe the units
Hi, how has the stick on vinyl lasted? Started to peel or ? Thanks b..... just watched your next video so you wouldn't know then,
Hello. They lasted very well until my van was stolen ha! The short time I had them no issues.
@@thescoutingwoodworker9250 could they see in the van could u tell it was a camper
If you put your face to the window yes but not if walking past as it was tinted.
can I ask what hinges you used on the doors?
They came with the doors so not sure sorry.
Are those steel toe cap safety slippers you wearing or do I need to report this to the HSE 😂😂
Haha
That laminate will bubble and Peal off usually in the winter when you put the heater on unless you treat the mdf with sanding sealer mdf is really bad for this !!
It got stolen so I don't know haha
@@thescoutingwoodworker9250 😯
Lovely video pal. How long did the vinyl take you to wrap it all?
Thanks. Think it took two evenings but I was being slow.
@@thescoutingwoodworker9250 thanks mate. Sounds like a welsh accent to me?
You are correct. Not originally but been here a while now.
What did you use to fix the cabinetss to the van
I just used those small metal right angle brackets
@@thescoutingwoodworker9250 will the right angle fixing be firm and hold the overhead cabinets in safe manner?
Where did you get the unit from?
I can't remember exactly. It was a company on ebay. There's lots of them if you have a look.
Music is very annoying
That music! 😡
I’d rather have my mrs in my ear than this annoying music in the background
