I used exactly the same units for my Ford Custom but I used a hole saw and drilled 2 rows of holes in all the side pieces just to take some weight out. I made my own drawer fronts out of MDF as they finished up non standard sizes but did use the standard drawer kits. 3 years on its still working a treat.
Spot on. Sounds good a great idea of losing some weight of it 👍
That's really good. I've been thinking of the same approach. I'll now look closer at this. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
Timber trim that matches the worktop would look stunning round the base.
Not a bad shout that, thanks 👍
awesome mate, looks cracking! I did the same with my build, although not as well planned as you lol. I'm actually ripping mine out in a bit and planning a little better!
Ahh fair play bud, yeah hopefully it does a few years. Thanks 🙏
Looking good mate keep up the good work
Thanks mate 👍
Great job, thanks for the inspiration. Ill probably do the same
@@ivy-mac glad it helped 👍
Looks great this! And unique to your van 👍🏻
@@adiehull Thanks 🙏
Coming along nicely, look forward to seeing the next update! Stay safe atvb 👍🦊
Thanks bud 🙏
Looks great this, good idea im looking at doing ours similar. In out first van i built it from scratch but took ages haha
@@the_robdogs thanks 🙏 well worth it still going strong
That’s boss mate
You and bug out UK got me wanting to get rid of the LANDY and get in to these vans they look epic
Seen a couple round by us to and juts makes me want one even more lol 😂
You and me both. They are both bad influences
Haha 😂 there worth it if you have the money mate. Just makes more sense with what we do and the whether we have in the UK. I’m mean I’m still gonna use the Landy on some trips
@@Jakesoverlandadventures it’s why I want to be able to camp in the D2 in the winter ❄️ and I finally made a start but not sure it works with what I want
Been looking at loads of options but keep coming back to stay in the vehicle and I feel the 4wd van is way
Lot of money yeah but I think it would benefit definitely lol 😂 as I think it will you as well with family ext
@@mitsi_overland_adventures2691 yeah 😩🤦♂️
@@NORTHWEST4X4ADVENTURES yeah agree mate, tbh me and Rich said the same we think over the next few years a lot of Landy people will be heading over to the 4x4 vans for sure e
Hi jake bit late for the party.what did you use as in screwing to the Pillars & the timber base mate really cool unit👍
@@std-s7w Thanks 🙏 Just normal screws for the wood base into the wooden base floor, then used tek screws for into metal
Cheers jake for the quick reply, just one last thing what's the name of the ikea unit please
@ honestly I have no idea of the top of my head, see if I lost it in the video.
Although you can get them to make it to size in any design of your go in to see them
Cheers mate,@@Jakesoverlandadventures
That’s spot on that is dude. IKEA stuff is pretty good quality usually so hopefully it stands up. My bab came down while i was watching and said hang on isn’t that your mate 🤣🤣 I said it’s Jake who put the camp on at Nash he said yeah I remember well you look like you have a lot in common. Kids got to love them
Yeah let’s hope so, haha 😝 fair play mate 👍
Great video mate we have done just about everything as the same 😂 how cool are the led side markers 👌 I thing we even got the same led mounts from ebay
Ahh thanks 🙏 and yeah love them 👍
@Jakesoverlandadventures give me shout if you come up to Scotland with the sprinter would love meet up and get a night's camping 🤝 I'm on the 4x4 sprinter page
@@seanmurray4154 ahh wicked that sounds awesome. Will definitely hit you up when I managed to get up there. It’s on my list for sure 👍
@Jakesoverlandadventures thanks jake, any chance you post a link for the tweed material you used?
@@seanmurray4154 will grab the link and stick it in the comments 👍
I thought about an Ikea kitchen for my van but decided I could build something much stronger in real wood.
Made my own drawers and doors, not that hard and much cheaper.
Also made the rear panels removable so I can get access to work on the sliding door internals (to renew handle cables etc).
Don't forget you need to have a gas drop vent below the burners, I built mine into the structure, a sealed box below burners with a drop down one end to a vent in the floor.
Great advise, thanks
Just got exactly the same and same green. Got a thinner worktop though. We got 2 600mm wide and 1 300mm wide for my LWB Custom. 370mm deep.
1/3 of the price of a pod.
Spot on bud, and fair play. If mine last a few years I’ll be happy 😊
I was thinking of ikea ..the money they’re asking for pods online too much ..yours looks great …
Thanks 👍
I’m going through the same dilemma now as whether to buy specific campervan pods or go the ikea route. I think you may have made my decision as it’s much MUCH cheaper 👍
Glad to help 👍
Thats the nuts mate ..👍
Cherz dude 👍
Looks good Jake but why you going with a Gas Hob? What about an induction Hob?
Thanks bud, don’t want induction due to most of them being touch less and don’t want the kids burning my van down haha
Also everything else in the van is electric so if there was a problem with it I still want to be able to cook etc hope that makes sense
Thanks for the Reply, Yes mate 100% Sense.
Bang on. Seats in the back and you will see the lay out.
Cherz mate, yeah that’s the next step
Hey man are you gonna out any latches on the drawers atal? Wonder if they open when driving without
@@jacklightburn6585 I’ve put really strong magnets on and it’s been fine for now
Looks great , I'm definitely gonna do this 400 wides perfect
Btw where did you get the tweed trim ? Is it a stretch product?
Thanks, im sure it was off Ebay and no it definatley doesn't stretch i know that now. haha
Where did you get your tweed trim , is it glued to 5mm ply?
It was of eBay bud and it’s glued on 3mm hard board 👍
What's the name of the range for this unit please?
How much did the Pod cost ?
Watch the video i tell you
Yep just re-watched.
But you can’t compare MDF against lightweight ply in cost…it’s like comparing steel and aluminium…
Very true bud, if it does me a few years I’ll be happy
At that price NO way £600, especially since your going off road . 🤔🏴
I have friends spending over £1500 and still taking them off road
How much was it bro
Watch the video I tell you
how the hell can you absolutely milk this simple job for so long lol
@@simonmcr8729 thanks for watching 👀
£600 no matey way to much plenty of cheaper options from other diy stores ikea stuff is way over priced cheap board crap
Thanks for the comment grandpa 👍
Can u let me know where I'm struggling to find a kitchen to fit my van
So i guess thats your 3.5 tonne limit filled with one kitchen unit 😂🤣😂🤣😂
