  • In this series I'm converting my 7'x14' cargo trailer into a camper trailer. I've done a lot to get here and still have a ways to go.
In this video I frame out the cabinets for my cargo trailer to camper trailer conversion and build laminate countertops.
The framing for the counter is done with 2x2s and the countertop is 1/4 in plywood (doubled at the edges) and a laminate sheet.
Here's where it all started: • Cargo Trailer to Campe...
It still needs sealing on the edges, but the countertop turned out pretty good for the low cost.

Could of major flaws. Next time. Probably realized weight over axles. And insulation. Hot or cold. Ridged insulation and spray foam corners add cracks.
I've hauled trailers and wagons all my life. And been a carpenter for 50 years.
Few construction flaws but you figured them out. Good finished job though. As long as the job looks good. It's right.

Nice build. How many batteries and what wattage is the inverter? Also size of trailer?

Haha yeah I've never built cabinets before and the odd shape complicated it, but the simple cabinet fronts made it easy. We'll see how much I miss them in the end

So I’m doing almost the exact same build as you did at the front of the trailer. What’s the secret to getting the top cabinet counter the right shape to the front of the trailer because mine is kind of arched and also curved in the front left and right corners.

@@ColeChapman205 old post you had, but I think you make your best guess, and then put it where it should be and use a compass or divider and mark the arch on the counter top, trim, repeat until it is close to where it should be. years ago, I watched this old house and Norm Abrams, it's how they did it...good luck !

@@drakejdf that really sucks, first run out. Who was driving and why did they run into you ? I drive old cars which are slower than the new ones and people are just not paying attention yet driving at speed. Hope you have recovered!

Do you worry about all that weight on the front end tongue?

What inverter did you choose and why, if you don't mind.

      I got this one: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JNCD6VZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The wattage seems more than adequate for my needs and pure sine wave inverters are much better for electronics.

Ok, I don't mean to be a jerk, but there's a lot of weight on the front of that trailer. Making it harder to tow. Why not distribute the weight over the axle? Also, I'd be nervous about having electrical so near the water tank. All that said, you're doing a fine job.

    • @befreebuilds
      @befreebuilds  3 роки тому

Yeah, that's definitely something I would have done differently. If turns out to be really problematic, I can probably move the electrical system to the back. Most of the storage should already be back there, so that might help too.
