this is a must buy accessory for the Quest 3, I would never use the default strap that comes with it, the Elite strap with battery is a much better option, makes the headset more comfortable to wear and you get longer battery life on it also, I heard Meta made a much more stronger and durable Elite strap this time for this headset which is good

Hi. Is the 128gb headset alright? Heard the OS takes up 25gb of space. Are you okay with storage? Not running out fast? Sorry. I just bought the 128 but don't know if i should open it or not
@joeyjoe003 Everyone is different. For me, it's more than enough space for dozens of things. People will say if you load a 40gb game (which right now are very rare) and you're downloading large movie files, you will quickly run out of space. That's true, but for me, I don't download multiple movies I'm not watching, nor do I play multiple large 40gb games at one time. I guess if you're someone who just likes to have everything on your device even if you're not using them, the 512gb would be for you, but I'm good at managing my space and the price for the 512gb to me was absurd...not to mention using the built in airlink option connects to my gaming laptop where I'm more likely to play games with much larger file sizes.
Two things that stood out from your video because I experienced them too 1) The headset getting hot when you're just charging it 2) The headset seemingly not charging at all after some time. I'll plug the thing in when it gets down to 15% and 2-3 hours later it's only at 60-70% and it's hot to the touch..As if something was running in the background
I've had the Quest 2 with its version of the elite strap for about two or so years, taken good care of the thing and its shown no signs of the plastic cracking or any other issues that I've heard about the elite strap, so as long as you take care of yours it should hopefully be fine.
The elite strap is 100% essential, should be the base head strap, the only thing that is optional is the battery, especially if you are a pc player, you can’t use the battery while using pc link. If you are on the go, if you got a simple charger, you can use that and hold the battery in your pocket.
thank you so much.. had the same exact problem with presure on the forehaead. it hurted so much. i now ordered the elite strap and hope that fixes the problem for me too.
I advise to wait for the Bobovr M3 Pro head strap, its way better than the Elite strap, its cheaper and also does have the battery. Its going to be released later this month (Oct). The price has not been released yet, but is rumoured to cost around $70 - $80. ($50 less than meta official one.) It will be very similar to the M2 pro that they made for the quest 2 but it is updated slightly. And NO, the M2 Pro does not fit on the quest 3 when its stock, but you can buy Bobovr's m2 retro fit kit to make it work. But its better waiting for M3 to release.
I thought the bobovr m3 was already sold out. Hey so i might have a chance to buy it then. Do you have the 128 version headset? If you do are you running out of storage quickly? I heard the OS is 25gb
I’m waiting for an updated Kiwi battery strap. From what I hear the halo straps are more comfortable, but a little less stable, so it really depends on which games you play and for how long. I’m also hoping they improve the sound quality in their next battery audio strap.
@@joeyjoe003You won’t use up all the 128GB any time soon. People these days have lost their sense of storage size. Everyone is talking about how huge some games are, but not realizing how few there are. No mention you can always uninstall some of them to make some space.
A growing number of people (including myself) are experiencing issues with this strap not charging the headset. It connects briefly when plugged in and then "disappears" (as far as the headset knows). Hopefully Meta will be able to hotfix this quickly! People are also saying the issue persists after getting a replacement strap(s).

So I bump up my settings in side quest. I read that powering it off and on will reset it to default. Sounds like a hassle to turn it off and then have to re connect and set the settings in my Pc every time.
Good review. One thing people should know about the battery strap is that is does have a charging port. Norm from Tested said it didn’t which may dissuade people from buying it. Norm suggested that to charge it you would have to buy the optional charging stand. Also, wireless PC VR is amazing with the Q3.
Nice unboxing review, It's a shame the company made the standard strap so badly designed so it makes owners of the quest 2 and 3 upgrade and buy another propper better fitting strap...big money making racket.. The psvr2 and 1 is so much better fitting and way better designed I think.
I'm thinking about getting the battery pack. You plug the battery pack into the headset and it will while playing and it uses the headset battery first? I wonder how charging the pack works with the docking station?
Does the cable plugging in to the back of the headstrap allow for data for PCVR since it's using the port on the headset because 90% of VR gaming is PCVR
About to order mine here soon. So far all the reviews have been great, minus one thing that kind of annoys me-people are reporting that there's no data passthrough; which means you essentially have to give up the extra battery when playing PCVR. And I'm not entirely sure if the Quest 3 draws any power while physically linked to your PC.
Both the standard strap and the Elite Strap start hurting my head and face after a while. I am, unexpectedly, having trouble maintaining the sweet spot with the Elite Strap. I don’t have any trouble maintaining the sweet spot with the standard strap.
Remember to unplug it from the headset after turning off the headset or it will continue to charge it. Yes, Meta screws things up. And each new Quest version has been getting less and less run time, thanks for that too Meta!
Thanks for your answer. So normally how long does it take to charge both of headset and the elite trap with battery? my headset and the elite with battery has been charging 4 hours but both of them but i have not seen the green light. @@ChrisBTech
I love that this headstrap battery is integrated into the os. It shows the full percentage as both and also shows both batteries if you go to the battery meter on the quest interface. The headstrap battery dies first so I assume it uses that first then the headset dies. When the strap battery dies it disappears from the interface and it only shows the headset one. Then when you charge them both it’s back. Only thing I’m not sure if is when I change it from the headstrap the headstrap light goes on orange. But the headset light isn’t I pulled the connector out and put it back in and the headset light came on orange later they both were green. I don’t know if it would charge the strap and then when that’s f]done the headset light would go orange and then chart I have been looking around to find out. I’d rather not have to pull the cable out and put it back in every time.
We also got one that only worked once. Now it won't deliver its charge to anything or be detected by the set for more than a couple of seconds. Meta is already sending a replacement with no need to return the old one.
There is one that sits on the top of your head like a ball cap, and the quest 3 sits infront of your face, almost no pressure if any on the face. I am trying to find it online so i can buy one but can only see it in videos.
Quiet a few people, my self included, have been reporting issues with this elite strap on Meta and reddit forums. the strap itself seems to not charge fully, give incorrect LED color for charge indication, and won't even charge the headset.
It's definitely a much better head strap for 3 models of vr headsets the head strap has always been a problem this one on the quest 3 is the best so far but still needs improvement. The bobovr vr headset when it comes out for the quest 3 will most likely be the best it has better more comfortable weight distribution for longer gaming sessions and a external battery that can be swapped in seconds
I mean I understand why it’s not possible to use the old quest straps but man I’m sad. I’m just gonna have to hope the normal strap is good because tbh I don’t want to give a shitty company like Meta more money than I already am and I’m not sure what 3rd party straps are good yet
I actually regret getting this. It made the overall weight too much and just gives me a headache to the point where I don't actually get anywhere near close to taking advantage of the battery pack. The battery-less Deluxe strap I had with the Quest 2 actually felt pretty comfortable despite it being a little front heavy. I always thought the weight at the back would be a nice counter balance but it really just adds overall mass that feels uncomfortable to me. Might try a third party option instead. I say this as someone with a Vive, Quest 2, Index and Quest 3. Never had issues with fatigue in other headsets.
As stated problem its way overpriced bobovr m3 will probably be half the cost waiting on that. Not to mention it was ok that quest 2 had crappy strap at $299 but this thing at $500 it should come with one. Also need vrcover facial interface hopefully with air channels as i noticed can get a bit hot in it.
This one has a ton of upgrades even though it costs more. By using these elastic straps, they not only save on materials, but they save on packaging and transport costs. If you know how to adjust the stock strap, it really isn’t that bad, but battery life is terrible. I have the BoboVR strap coming, but it uses a battery that won’t keep up with the demands of the Q3 unfortunately. They need a new higher wattage battery.
@@Cujobob The whole materials argument does not hold ground they actually create much more waste by making people buy elite strap in a separate package and creating even more waste when they throw out the included one.
@@Eskoxo People aren't forced to buy other straps. Not every Quest user will grab another. As I said before, if you know how to adjust the stock strap, it's acceptable for a period of time. People who are playing long hours will need something that takes more pressure off of the front, but that's not every user. The community of people commenting online are generally the more hardcore fans, but a lot of people just pick the Quest up to play for 30 minutes and put it away after.
@@Cujobob I think that is more the case with Quest 2 and Quest 3 at $499 is more of an enthusiast device not many will spend 500 for 30 minute a week flings those people will just keep their current quest 2.
Just got mine it sucks that the quest doesnt charge while playing and lasts maybe and hour and a half. The elite strap super comfy even better than the rift S which I used since release and now has mad stick drift. Just want to play for like 4 hours streight lol.
The battery seem to be defective. I bought one charge it overnight and the next day it stopped working. Returned it but another one charged it overnight with the meta charger and the second day it stops working
I just got the quest 3 myself and new to vr. I didn't even now the default strap was not even a normal feeling, so thanks for the head up. And I also confused on the whole adjusting eye preference. Is there a way to know what my eyes are or do I need to measure or something?
Must be something about us bald guys and weird sweet spot. Mine is also way high up. I have to move my headset so high up that I get light bleed around my nose. I can't relate to people who say the original strap is digging into their ears. I have to move mine way above to adjust headset for an optimal sweet spot.
Does anyone know if you can plug the official Oculus Link Cable into the charging port of the extension, or do you have to plug it directly into the Quest 3 side port? (I mean that also keeps it charged, so it's not that big of a deal)
As Quest 1 user, I really have to say; the Quest 1 is more comfortable than whatever this strap is they gave us. And do I even wanna mention the little silly wrist threads the Quest 3 controllers came with? I'm convinved Meta did this on purpose, so people HAVE to buy a more comfortable strap. I'm buying a 3rd part strap though. Meta can suck it :)
Bobo is more comfortable, but nobody mentions that because of the design, it is more for sitting down. If you play a fast face game, like beatsaber, then it's not as ideal because it will wobble due to the halo design. But if you sit down a lot, like VRChat for example, then, get the bobovr, it will much more confortable.
ChrisBTech. New sub here. You've shown that you can charge the Elite strap battery while playing. Is It possible to charge the Q3 itself while playing?
Though I agree with everything in the video, I couldn't understand that either. The sweet spot is huge. I returned the PSVR2 because with that set I was struggling with the sweet spot and the MURA.
🤷♂️ maybe I need glasses or something haha. For most things it works well, but I find when it comes to reading text, getting the headset in the perfect position is difficult to make the text crisp and not blurry
Are you having issues with the battery starp being detected by your headset? Mine workeed great for one day and now the headset wont detect the battery strap
Really don't recommend the elite strap it hurts my forehead/back of the head n' overall feels worse than my Quest 2 setup comfortability wise. Really recommend a 3rd party one ^-^

@@Cujobobthey are selling the m3 headstrap already?
Just got mine it sucks that the quest doesnt charge while playing and lasts maybe and hour and a half. The elite strap super comfy even better than the rift S which I used since release and now has mad stick drift. Just want to play for like 4 hours streight lol.
What I hate about the Meta elite with battery, is that the battery gives you only 2 hours more lol for $130
It’s a shame we need to buy this with the headset costing more. Comfort and battery is all I am complaining about. Battery is quite horrible honestly.
Does it pull your hair when you take it off?
I can confidently say no
The battery seem to be defective. I bought one charge it overnight and the next day it stopped working. Returned it but another one charged it overnight with the meta charger and the second day it stops working
What was the temperature in your room?
The normal strap slips from my head and if I tighten it too much I get pain in my head!
I just got the quest 3 myself and new to vr. I didn't even now the default strap was not even a normal feeling, so thanks for the head up. And I also confused on the whole adjusting eye preference. Is there a way to know what my eyes are or do I need to measure or something?
You just keep adjusting things until it feels right. Took me about 3 sessions to stop changing ipd
Does it not bother you with the lack of padding on the back of the head strap? it looks so uncomfortable
Nope, it feels great
Purchase a third-party strap. It's cheaper and does the job just as well
Must be something about us bald guys and weird sweet spot.
Mine is also way high up. I have to move my headset so high up that I get light bleed around my nose.
I can't relate to people who say the original strap is digging into their ears. I have to move mine way above to adjust headset for an optimal sweet spot.
Ha yes it definitely didn't interfere with my ears, but it hurt my forehead
Should probably edit the comment section to refer to the other video explaining why it's broken and shouldn't be bought right now...
Thanks, I had pinned a comment but it came unpinned. Fixed.
Does anyone know if you can plug the official Oculus Link Cable into the charging port of the extension, or do you have to plug it directly into the Quest 3 side port? (I mean that also keeps it charged, so it's not that big of a deal)
You have to go directly into the quest
@@ChrisBTech a little disappointing but not too big of a deal, thank you for letting me know!
You should revise the title and description.
Buy the Bobovr M3 instead.
It's not available lol
Good review, but after you used it for two hours, you had the facial mark on your face for the rest of the video, lol!😂
Gotta show the true experience 😂 I like to wear it tight so it doesn't move much. But I think using it any extended time will leave those marks
Yes
Why did you charge it up for a minute !!!
Surprised with your sweet spot comment - Pancake lenses are much better for this.
Watch these things start cracking.
$130 and only get a 2k battery?
Tbh I'm not as concerned with the battery size as the play time and play time is plenty
wow, Lex Luthor from Smallville!
They are pancake lenses, how on earth are you struggling with sweet spot? lol..
I got the normal elite strap with my quest 3,the knuckle straps should be here in a few hours time
the atandart strap is a pain in the ass so is the facecover
Are you having issues with the battery starp being detected by your headset? Mine workeed great for one day and now the headset wont detect the battery strap
I've had mine for two days now and so far I don't have that problem.
No, it's been working perfectly for me so far.
Really don't recommend the elite strap it hurts my forehead/back of the head n' overall feels worse than my Quest 2 setup comfortability wise.
Really recommend a 3rd party one ^-^
I thought something was familiar, until he showed his face. Is this @dirty tesla!?
Yes lol
@@ChrisBTech look forward to the first, Augmented Reality Tesla Self Driving video!
I have a Tesla but can't justify the insane cost of self driving at the moment! Hoping one day it will be 'As Standard'
Lol, you are like Linus and just rip at things, zero worry.
If it can't survive then it's a piece of junk!
I just leave mine plugged in
I like to run and spin around like a maniac
Utter garbage. Second time using the Elite strap with battery and my Q3 fails to recognize it. Loads of us posting about this on Meta forums and still nothing.
Yeah I've had a bunch of these comments... Not looking good.
Is this dirty Tesla?
No it's a battery
Yes hello 😂
Am i the only person who paid $688 for the Quest 3?
Bobo is only 79$
Ah, the 1 day review…
There are so many things you experience when it's brand new I feel like it's good to see what's exciting and notable. Then those things become a normal part of the experience, so you can forget to talk about them to people wanting to know about the headset. I was pretty clear with the title, so easy to avoid if wanted.
for 129 id rather wait for the 54 dollar bobovr m3
It's only 50 dollars? Anyway it says the bobobr m3 is currently unavailable. Do you know if it's sold out, or if it's not currently being sold yet?
Just looking at that bobo is better
Lol
The strap is broken. Won’t be recognized more than a few seconds. Garbage and Meta is crickets
THE STOCK STRAP IS AN UTTER DISGRACE . and its intentionally so i have bought all 3 headsets this is by far and i mean by far thee WORST its unusable junk
Great video! Commenting to give the algorithm a tickle 🫡
Thank you!
