Doug's first job out of college was allocating special Porsche models to dealerships around the country. If i had that job and was able to actually sit in a 918 Spyder or GT2/GT3 and see these mechanical engineering marvels up close, i guess i would be a Porsche enthusiast myself.
Though I bet having dual zone climate control is quite a bit heavier than no climate control. If this is supposed to be a track car, who's putting the AC on at the track?

I feel that this is far above other sports cars from a practicality perspective, thanks to having both a trunk and a frunk. It's pretty amazing just how much stuff you can pack into a Cayman.

Another very good fun Review. I bought a GT4 2 weeks ago and I love it. I love this GT4 more than my previous GT3RS. But I feel I have more fun in my 1997 911 (993) air cooled engine sound and the rear engine. A bit more raw. 🦅🦅🇺🇸
There is no way that anyone would miss a yellow Porsche! I certainly would not! It's quite amazing! It's not overly flashy with a big rear wing and a huge number of vents and graphics, but it's awesome good looking!
Every modern Porsche can be made fun of no matter how objectively good it is. Even though they are still great driver's cars they have become a self parody to a degree. Its not all their fault. Half of it is PCA.
When I watched the video on the GT3 I was like, "Eh, that seems like a pretty big wing." But then I saw one in person. HOLY HELL THAT WING IS RIDICULOUS
I went to the Porsche Driving Experience and I totally agree. I drove the GT-4 and then drove the 911 GT-3. The Cayman turns better, feels more responsive, engine sounds more impressive, and it’s more comfortable. Maybe not the yellow, but damn was it good looking and fun. I didn’t know about the space, but I am pushing hard to make money to buy one.

Doug, I have one and it is the best car I have ever owned. My wife had never rode with me until recently and it put a permanent smile on her as she was pleasantly surprised with how it drove and handled. You are correct my ex-boss had a 911 which I sat on and it is no where close to this car. I am enjoying everything about this car even the quirkiness. Thank for your review it is every bit accurate if not precise.
BTW while you were driving it down the highway I noticed it has the most beautiful exhaust notes. You can actually hear that they somehow tuned the exhaust so that it's generating a fundamental frequency and maybe a third or 5th above it. Amazing.
Friend got his GT4 a month ago and I took it out. Ordered mine next day, it arrives in around August, top spec including the overpriced ceramics and bucket seats. It's the most exceptional car I've ever driven and the manual gearbox is sublime.
I drove a 2014 981 Cayman S on the track at the Porsche World Road Show along with a 992 and a 992 4S . That track day convinced me that the 981 S was for me. Never looked back. My PCA friends thought I was nuts to buy the 981 S. It is not always about 0-60 but the dance on the twisties.
"If people were honest and didn't care what their neighbors and friends thought..." My neighbors and friends would be pretty impressed if I bought a Cayman, or more likely ask if I recently got an inheritance....
Frankly most people probably can't tell the difference between this and the 911 anyway. Car people yes, no one would care if you go to car meetings with this. But I think you could sell this as a 911 to most people not to mention women...

Doug is actually right about two things. One would be the center console, and the blank buttons. -Imagine put those buttons together down the center line and ger rid of those tabs on both sides. It would make it much simpler aesthetically in IMO. Also the door handle fabric loop, you really don't save a significant amount of LBs. Just have a nice traditional door handle. Other than that, the car is amazing overall. Also the manual option in this trim is just a 10/10.
Doug, I'm 100% on board with you. I sold Porsche in Montreal for 2 years and my almost favorite car was the Cayman S but it was gutless back in 2006-2007 BUT TODAY it's my all time favourite sports car. The 2020 911 is nice but it isn't as sporty as it once was, it would be a daily driver vs GT4 as the weekend track hungry machine. Thanks Doug, your videos are the Best in the Business

I love the GT4. I just bought a left over '19 GTS three months ago, and with a custom tune and exhaust it now has has more horse power than this GT4 and the lower tiered 911s. It still drives and handles like the GT4. :)

Friend got his GT4 a month ago and I took it out. Ordered mine next day, it arrives in around August, top spec including the overpriced ceramics and bucket seats. It's the most exceptional car I've ever driven and the manual gearbox is sublime.

I drove a 2014 981 Cayman S on the track at the Porsche World Road Show along with a 992 and a 992 4S . That track day convinced me that the 981 S was for me. Never looked back. My PCA friends thought I was nuts to buy the 981 S. It is not always about 0-60 but the dance on the twisties.

Doug is actually right about two things. One would be the center console, and the blank buttons. -Imagine put those buttons together down the center line and ger rid of those tabs on both sides. It would make it much simpler aesthetically in IMO. Also the door handle fabric loop, you really don't save a significant amount of LBs. Just have a nice traditional door handle. Other than that, the car is amazing overall. Also the manual option in this trim is just a 10/10.

Doug, I'm 100% on board with you. I sold Porsche in Montreal for 2 years and my almost favorite car was the Cayman S but it was gutless back in 2006-2007
BUT TODAY it's my all time favourite sports car. The 2020 911 is nice but it isn't as sporty as it once was, it would be a daily driver vs GT4 as the weekend track hungry machine.

I love the GT4. I just bought a left over '19 GTS three months ago, and with a custom tune and exhaust it now has has more horse power than this GT4 and the lower tiered 911s. It still drives and handles like the GT4. :)
