I had a whole other take when I came to the ruins. I walked up to the bandits outside and talked to them, and got them to leave by their own will. Then convinced the guy inside the door to open it.

Well I actually met Shadowheart trapped in a pod on the ship, I opened it for her then we fought together.. then met back up with her just a few meters in front of me once we crashed on the beach
The lever door can be destroyed with the Everburn Blade, which is worth getting to destroy locked wooden doors instead of using up your lock picks, if you got it off the Nautiloid ship. Also if you use lock picks, they are used up in the lock picking, the trap disarm kits are only used up if the disarm fails

okay so there is like A LOT more depth to this game than i thought, my druid in bear form broke the ground because she was so heavy, so i went in and got totally and absolutely destroyed by all those bandits lol
During my first playthrough with my wife this had happened to her as well. She transformed and walked over the cracked ground, falling through. Most of our characters were injured, so it wasn't convenient, but we managed to survive the ensuing fight. Bear form was surprisingly tough and the rest of our group snuck in from behind.
Something similar happened to me. I examined the broken ground first and started walking on it and fell through. I had sent Shadowheart and Astarion on their way before this so it didn't take long for those bandits to mop the floor with me 😵
A funny fact is that the positioning of the bandits inside the Ruins depends on your Actions. For example when you manage to pass the spellcheck with the guy guarding the Main door he will stay there waiting for you to come in while the rest is idling around. You can easily sneak up to them when you then enter the Ruins from the trap room or krypt. I just started playing BG3 today. I play on hard mode. I keep dying here. If only I knew that we could move around furniture and things to create barricaders. As I was playing, I kept dying and starting over, thinking, man, i just started the game and its already this challenging? Love it! Thanks so much for your quick guide. Now I've learned more about maneuvering around the battle fields, which makes the game much more enjoyable (since I dont die as much xD)!!
that's a point if you use the lower entrance before you have a disarm kit even if you do pass the lockpick, you're screwed cos you might see the vents but you can't disarm them
I went down in that hole and spent 2 days trying to figure out how to beat that first mob. Got absolutely wrecked and determined the game isnt really for me 😁
You will find Shadowheart on that dungeon's doorstep only if you didn't rescue her from the pod., If you rescued her, she will be laying unconcious on the ground not far from where you start, if you don't rescue her from her pod or you don't accept her in your party while on the Nautiloid, then she'll appear on the doorsteps.
First time playing this game!! Without knowing what i was going to get myself into i blasted the roof and As soon as I fell I knew I was screwed…took me 4 times but with my shadowheart as companion and the other magician guy i finally menaged to kill everyone in the room. Now im rejoicing 🍻
I used wildshape to turn into a kitty cat and shifted back to normal in front of the ornate door, convincing the bandits outside that I was coming from within the crypt to devour them and they ran away 😂 allowing the rest of my party to just walk past them. Didn’t think about the cracked spot on the ground.
I kinda accidentally used a Chromatic fire orb on the impossible to lockpick door when coming through the other side XD and it worked a treat....though the bandits were alerted!
Lol I just avoided all the traps lmfao, and I got in by lock licking pretty cool .. I’m in there now and debating if I should keep going or turn around
I tried to pick up the dead skeletons, but that also woke them up, I initially though of just picking em and throwing em in the abyss, but it just failed so badly.
RP-wise I approached the group looting the overgrown ruins not as 'bandits', but as a rival party of adventurers, however I'm playing as chaotic neutral. It was a bloodbath.
I crash landed and was woefully unprepared to deal with the looters inside, having only Gale and with Tactical difficulty. I only survived by baracading myself in and ranging majority of them with Gale, and barely survived.

I totally missed out the ruins in act 1 and Withers just suddenly visited me in my camp lol And I don’t even know he is related to the ruins, just now I spent almost 2 hours in the ruin wondering why I didn’t get cutscene when I open the coffin😂
Hi high king please keep it up and good on you for making Baldurs gate content (hope we get a live stream.) love the channel always and thank you battle brother also we are getting much closer to Starfield.
strange, I talked the first 2 characters, next to the breakable hole under the loadstone, into leaving. they took the 2 people next to them with them. The people on the interior seemed to be a separate group because I had no choice but to fight them.
They also made the Divinity Original Sin games, and at least on part 2, you could do the same thing. If you're playing dnd, whether or not something like that would work is entirely up to the GM, like if I were GMing, then I'd probably allow it so as long as the object on top of the vent was big enough, although I might have a tiny amount of stuff come out, or after so many rounds, the bottom of the crate or whatever be slick enough to start to slide.
Some of this can be trivialized depending on your team composition and resources. For instance, many of the locked doors can be destroyed. I'm not 100% sure what determines if you can or not. In my case, I used Laezel with commander Zalks flaming greatsword. 1-2 whacks was plenty to destroy any locked door in our path. It actually caused some confusion later when we found the hidden lever as we had no idea what pulling it had accomplised, as the door was already destroyed. I have a feeling if I had made the same attempt with my rogue instead, the attack probably would have just bounced off.

I am moments away from putting this game down permanently because the amount of times I miss/fail rolls in combat and just exploring is so distracting from everything else. I am a massive towering orc fighter with proficiency in intimidation: how have I failed an intimidation check on a camp of halfings 3 reloads in a row
"This guy, he's like 17 health and is the biggest threat" lol I don't think this is tactician mode. Which is what I'm trying to do this on. I will try this method, though.
Update. This doesn't work at all on tactician. Top dude has around 32 HP and he jumps over the desk like he's on crack. I even put another box on top of the desk and they jump over. I get one turn and they get 3 or 4 every time. I don't know what else to do in the world to get leveled up but I'm not changing difficulty.
i dont think so and since companions seem to gain xp even when you don't bring them along you can just add them to your team whenever you want to complete their sidequests and then leave who you want out for your main team
You mostly just want them along with you for their own story parts, but the stories tend to all really get started in camp, and then you just bring them in when you want to focus on them.
I had withers before I defeated the goblin army and he was me at my camp. Then I visited the dank ruins and he wasn't there lol ...I don't know why that happened.
Question. When opening the door to the room of Bandits. How are you not put in initiative? I’ve tried over 10 times and always puts me in initiative and I am wiped before any of my team goes.
Same, not sure why, it confused me I didn't know where to go after beating the undead. Watched this video and well I went back to camp to talk to him, at least it finished the quest. Unsure if this is a bug or not.
If it looks even a little interesting to you, jump in with both feet. There is an 'Explorer' difficulty if you primarily want to experience the story and you can save pretty much any time you want. For these types of games, I'd probably suggest 'trying' the middle difficulty and just save often so that you don't lose much progress if you die. If you find out this sort of game is your jam, you can adjust difficulty and add challenges for yourself (autosave only run for instance) later.
Last game I played was divinity and it was sort of like this. I would recommend story difficulty and just save before and after any major fight. You don't have to complete the entire game or every single thing that gets thrown at you. One things that is required is the fact that enemies on the high ground is bad and to be aware of your skills and what they do. It might also be more fun with friends, but that isn't required whatsoever
I came in front door talked guy into letting me in then i just cast a spell busted door down then found the switch i look for an hour to find what that switch unlocked so i had to come her looks like i didn't need to worry anout it
During the fight at the entrance, the mage cast 'Sleep," knocking Gale out. I could NOT break the spell. I literally killed the frickin mage and Gale STILL didn't wake up. What kind of utter BS is that? You can't jolly well break concentration any better.
if u leave the class alone and respec the subclass only (like trickster domain to life domain on shadowheart for example) will it break the unique dialogues as well?
my understanding is it doesn't actually break the dialog at all. But lets say you respec Shadowheart from Cleric to Monk, the dialog she gets is still has being a Cleric so it doesn't break it, just kind of ruins any type of immersion. But changed Karlag's sub class and it didn't seem to affect her story at all.
dunno what the hell is wrong with my save but in my game the positioning of the bandits it totally different and only 1 of them can be hit by a oil flame, and the fight is almost impossible.
Losing dialogue sounds bad. That makes me wonder. Is the dialogue on origin respecs lost only on class change, or also on subclass change? So would changing her from trickery domain to Life domain also run the story? Or just if i turn her into a different class all together?
Watching you play makes me feel like an absolute peasant haha. All these cool tricks I wouldnt think of in my wildest dreams 😂

I get one turn and they get 3 or 4 every time. I don't know what else to do in the world to get leveled up but I'm not changing difficulty.
Hear me out. A nat 1 for deception here isnt as bad as rolling a nat 20 str check when youre trying to calm a horse.
the way I did this is that I deceived the 4 people outside about the ship being dangerous then used Astarion to deceive the person by the door lol
How often should you switch out comanions to get all the story lines? Do their tasks have a time limit?
You should focus on a core team and play with those characters alone. The game exist for multiple playthroughs
i dont think so and since companions seem to gain xp even when you don't bring them along you can just add them to your team whenever you want to complete their sidequests and then leave who you want out for your main team
You mostly just want them along with you for their own story parts, but the stories tend to all really get started in camp, and then you just bring them in when you want to focus on them.
it seems that the second explosion cause any damage. Am I right?
This section was too hard. Kept dying. Am I supposed to push through or come back later?
I’d be at least level 3 before I would do it
If you're quick enough you can just loot the sarcophagus and hit the button to disarm right after it
so i picked the trap room door, entered, then left immediately. I didnt do anything inside. When I went to my camp later, Withers was at my camp lol
Hello! May I ask what mod you used to make shadow heart look so pretty! Thank you!
Also with Wither's you can pick pocket him and get your gold back zero risk.
Thank you
He never popped up from the coffin for me did I do something wrong?
same thing happened to me. went to an older save and did it again, the guy still didn't show up. seems to be a bug
I have no idea, why I am the only one at the "party" a single sorcerer with 8hit points. Literally unable to pass over Intelect Devourer
I had withers before I defeated the goblin army and he was me at my camp. Then I visited the dank ruins and he wasn't there lol ...I don't know why that happened.
This dang trap room almost killed me. Ran out of healing potions.
you didnt mention that youy need a disarm trap kit for this
Thanks! Really useful!
I went to this dungeon but didnt go through the last giant door, but Withers already spawn on my camp. How is this possible?
Thank you!!
Question. When opening the door to the room of Bandits. How are you not put in initiative? I’ve tried over 10 times and always puts me in initiative and I am wiped before any of my team goes.
honestly. autosaved on entry down there to so stuck
I didnt do this dungeon and Withers just showed up in my camp lol
Same, not sure why, it confused me I didn't know where to go after beating the undead.
Watched this video and well I went back to camp to talk to him, at least it finished the quest.
Unsure if this is a bug or not.
thanks for the video
I use warlock persuasion and told them to get out of the area cause the ships poisonous XD
would you recommend this to someone who has never played this type of game before? guess i mean how hard is the learning curve?
I came in front door talked guy into letting me in then i just cast a spell busted door down then found the switch i look for an hour to find what that switch unlocked so i had to come her looks like i didn't need to worry anout it
more of these please
Not leveling your characters was driving me crazy....
u can let the Barrel explode with fire so it does more dmg
and i destroyed the door with fire too xD
if you just disarm the trap on the sarcophagus in the center nothing happens when you open it.
For the locked door I know in true DOS style you could beat it down in the early access. Is that no longer an option?
The door does have HP and takes double damage from fire.
@@xDjembex fantastic. Who needs a keep when you've got a battle axe
I actually get Wither at level 1 (solo or no companions). Who wants to know how? I will upload it.
During the fight at the entrance, the mage cast 'Sleep," knocking Gale out. I could NOT break the spell. I literally killed the frickin mage and Gale STILL didn't wake up. What kind of utter BS is that? You can't jolly well break concentration any better.
Today in Baldur's Gate... FREE?!
if u leave the class alone and respec the subclass only (like trickster domain to life domain on shadowheart for example) will it break the unique dialogues as well?
my understanding is it doesn't actually break the dialog at all.
Where to find the trap disarm kit please?
There are no definite places to get one, you can hopefully find them as treasure from exploring or combat
I couldn’t find the trap disarm toolkit. I let those guys walk away and didn’t fight them at the beginning.
I totally did all this the hard way LOL noob to the bg3 world - literally did a disarm on all yhe traps in the room
It’s still saying open the sarcophagus on the quest when I did and did everything you did
Losing dialogue sounds bad. That makes me wonder. Is the dialogue on origin respecs lost only on class change, or also on subclass change? So would changing her from trickery domain to Life domain also run the story? Or just if i turn her into a different class all together?
afaik, only main class is important
What if I keep the class but change the subclass though? Will the game still see that as I changed the class in regards to those dialogue options?
Just a tip, on the room with all the traps i just take 1 person and i do the roll on the sarcophagus itself
Dude plz do a 100% walkthrough.
