Ariadne Oliver brought a kind of humour to the Poirot series that wasn’t seen since Poirot’s last three sidekicks were around; Hastings, Lemon and Japp. Zoe is one of those underrated actresses that I think need more credit for her acting talents.
Before watching this video I just saw Zoe Wanamaker as Ariadne Oliver in the episode Elephants Can Remember (1981). I first saw Zoe Wanamaker on Broadway in Piaf (1981) as the character Toine. Jane Lapotaire was Piaf, and she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play. I have been a fan of Zoe Wanamaker since then.
Well done indeed -- I listen to the novels more often than watching adaptations, it's *always* a great treat when Ariadne appears in either form and Zoe Wanamaker is so good!
Ariadne Oliver is an icon, a legend and she is the moment. She was the perfect foil and a fun bestie to Hercule Poirot. Zoë Wanamaker played the role beautifully.
From 'The Moon and Sixpence' "I've found the personality of the artist to be their greatest work" adlibbed a bit, but, me too. When I enjoy someone's work, I almost always seek their biography, and, I'm a fan of the autobiographical writers. It's hard to resist the writer Adriane being somewhat an embellishment of Christie, an employ to some extent, but I'm glad you made this video... with charm and verve, thoroughly enjoyed thank you 😊
I like that Fenella Woolgar who plays Miss Whittaker in this previously played Agatha Christie herself in the Doctor Who episode The Unicorn And The Wasp, which from memory at least references her famous disappearance. Also kind of funny that the Doctor is currently played by another Miss Whittaker.
I resent movies that change the characters and stories of Agatha Christie. This woman was a story telling genius. WHY DO THEY THINK THEIR VERSION IS SUPERIOR TO CHRISTIE’S?
You have put a lot of thought and effort into this video I now have a better idea of some of Agatha Christie’s personal views of herself through the words of Ariadne Oliver the name in and of it’s self is beautiful thank you 🙏🏾 for sharing and shedding light on such a brilliant author ❤
I have to say I really enjoyed this one about Ariadne Oliver, glad you made it and thanks for letting me know about it 🙂 As I mentioned in the other comment Zoë Wanamaker is brilliant as Ariadne, she really brings that character to life that I just couldn't see any other actress playing her, and thanks to Zoë Wanamaker Ariadne is one of my favourite characters, I liked how she helps Poirot with his investigations and not just sits back and lets him do all the work. I always thought it funny Agatha Christie being a crime writer having a character whose a crime writer in books about a man who solves crimes and them being really close friends (if that didn't make sense it sounded better in my head lol 😂... like when a movie star plays a character in a movie who is a movie star. Reference the movie Bowfinger. Sorry about the little ramble lol) But not just any crime writer but one like herself even with a foreign detective lol. I really like The Halloween Party episode so I'm glad you talked about it, it's also good because Fenella Woolgar is in it and she played Agatha Christie in the Doctor Who episode The Unicorn and the Wasp (so that's twice Agatha is kind of in that story lol) she's also in another Poirot episode, Lord Edgware Dies. If you like Agatha Christie and if it's not to bold of me to say, that you have a accent so I'm not sure where you live but if you can get BBC iPlayer there's a really good documentary about her called Agatha Christie: Lucy Worsley on the Mystery Queen. Anyway I'm so so sorry for the long comment you probably needed a break half way through reading it lol 😂
Splendid video! Ariadne Oliver is one of my favorite Agatha Christie's characters. Thank you for your creative presentation.
oh, thank you so much, @shawngilliland243 !

oh, thank you, it's very kind of you to write this comment!
Love this channel and Poirot episodes, they are sometimes funny. Thank you for this post.
Joan Hickson is my favorite Ms. Marple. I enjoyed watching the other two actresses who played Ms. Marple on itv. They were both excellent.
One of my favourite episodes 😊

I adore them!! ❤❤
brilliant. thank you.
Enjoyable
Anthony Horowitz is the closest to Agatha Christie in terms of blending Meta Narrative with one’s Persona.
Does he write mystery
in Italia e' intitolato la strage degli innocenti
certo!
zoe wanamaker is brilliant as Ariadne Oliver
I just read this book. Definitely better, than the adaptation. The tv version is too dramatic for my taste, it looks cheap (I mean like soap opera).
