    We visited Luke Benoit and Scott McDonald at Interlachen Country Club in Minneapolis, MN to check out their new Rypstick training tool. Listen into the full conversation here.
    Awesome golf speed training to increase club head speed along with, four fitness tests, that you can do at home, overspeed training and a swing assessment.
    Great golf instruction from Luke Benoit, Ryp Golf.

    Thanks for sharing this very useful video. I must agree with this trainer's logic that he trains people to have the right sequences (forms) before hitting the balls. Most people do the opposit - hitting the balls, then the form and then speed.

    I just started the Rypstick system a few weeks ago after working through the Superspeed program for 2 years. So far, I love the convenience of just having to operate with one club versus multiple sticks especially when warming up for a round. With my baseline swing speed already ranging from 116-118mph, I am curious to see how this product works and If it can help push my speed above 120mph baseline. Awesome video. Very inspiring.

    Excellent video. Interesting that he basically cherry picked different exercises from the superspeed program and went with those rather than advising to start with the basic exercises and work through the program...eventually getting to the heel lift and knee swing.
    I've got a very similar swing, quite steep and could probably eek out a few more mph with that heel lift. My only concern, having done some speedwork in the past, is that the heel lift becomes driver only and so you almost have a completely different wedge swing which can affect that aspect of the game.

    • @rypgolf
      @rypgolf 3 роки тому +2

      LG - I've got lots of good players that lift the heal on driver and lift it less on wedge shots. It's a fairly reasonable difference if trained properly. Keeping the weight more forward is key with short clubs and limiting center of mass movement.

    What weight of med ball were you using? Curious to try these. I'm convinced my numbers would be very high compared to what was shown (you did a great job btw), but if you're doing that and they say you should be swinging 120+, I want to know how much faster I should be swinging, because I'm at 130-133 rn, but I would have thrown that med ball through the wall with an overhead pass like that lol and likely could almost hit my head on the ceiling. This isn't some flex post, but more-so curiosity! Appreciate you letting me know the baseline med ball weight. Are they measuring in Feet/inches?/

      I've run Trackman and Foresight at the same time for years. So many differences between the systems but both are good. Indoors, foresight wins. Outdoors Trackman, but Trackman does not normalize as well as their algorithm claims, which is why so many tour players like Foresight outside. Foresight needs to correct their carry distance algorithm on low spin/high ball speed readings as these get ridiculously long.

      Hi I’m a TPI Certified health professional and personal trainer. Typically you want to see those numbers average between 18-22 (measured in feet for the throws and inches for the jump). I would predict your ball speed potential to be around 150mph and club head speed potential around 100mph. To really know if you need strength, you actually have to test strength (they didn’t in this video except grip strength) that would include push and pull strength tests and leg strength tests. Hope that helps.

    Not sure how this is unique in any way. This is essentially TPI training and speedsticks. There have been some complaints about the speedsticks (which is essentially this rypstick) causing hands and wrists to fling the club causing issues with ball flights and keeping the ball on your intended target line.

    • @rypgolf
      @rypgolf 3 роки тому +5

      Like any tool, the Rypstick can be misused. But 40+ PGA tour players are using it already so we know there is value in speed training. What makes us different is that we offer a custom plan that help you gain speed safely without compromising mechanics. We also offer a free swing assessment. Golfers like Cordie are easy, but many golfers will benefit from a more custom approach, which we can provide through TPI fitness and swing coaching.
      You are correct that we borrow ideas from others. Any why not? Good ideas should be used and improved on. Isn’t that the heart of innovation and capitalism? We also contribute own own line of research and expertise that is unique and proprietary. Send us your swing and we are happy to share our expertise!

      @@AssociatedTechnology I don't think either Luke or Rory have (as yet) used the Rypstick, but I think the point you make is valid. There will always be plenty of players forging their own way, but I think overwhelming science points towards the benefits of fitness and overspeed training working in combination. Look at players like Brian Gay that pick up 6+ mph and revive careers. Also, great trainers like Randy Myers are big proponents of overspeed training when used effectively with fitness. A huge part of our philosophy is helping our clients get stronger so that they can support the speed without increasing injury risk. As I mentioned in the video, golfers that are strong with a poor sequence tend to be the best candidates for speed gains, but almost everyone can benefit to some degree.

    Why are golfers are so jaded by the weight room, they always overlook the obvious, they try and gain all the speed using the same.body that is governed with limitations. In order to gain true speed you gotta build musculature to support connective tissue and bone. This is what allows you to sustain the sequencing on a fast swing. it's like putting a Ferrari engine in a Volkswagen and changing nothing structurally, and getting confused when you twist the fame and brake the motor mounts from over torqueing.

    Funny how they chose some golfer who doesn’t need improvement. Do the same with somebody “below average”.

    Shaky cams? Really? I get car sick watching it. And the sudden zooming is jarring. Wasted what should be a great video.

    Those “power tests” are actual garbage
    Sorry but there’s no way any of that will determine your ability to swing faster.
    You can take the weakest person and manipulate there swing many ways to gain speed
