You should listen to their other songs too. Hector the Hero, Gypsy Laddie, Edinburgh Toon, Rosslyn, Kishorn Commandoes, Calling Doon the Line - all great!
Wonderful song! In Germany we call this "Ohrwurm" (Earworm)", which describes the phenomenon of not being able to get a song out of your consciousness for hours or days. Greetings.
@@wor53lg50 Thank you very much for your warm words, which I was very happy about! I hereby send my warm and patriotic greetings from Germany to your great and proud nation, to which the world has so many outstanding things to thank! 🇩🇪🤝🏴🏴🏴👍
I was told by a friend that the Gideshu March from the Roblox game Deepwoken uses the melody from the first two lines of the verses as its main melody. I kinda like it. It has a more somber and deeper tone and basically shows how much variations can be done. My brain did kinda went through a "error 404 not found" when I listened to it since it only used the melody from the first two lines of the verses. My brain felt something was wrong since it was expecting the melody from the next lines of the verses instead of it repeating back.
You and your lefty progressives have gotta stop kicking us to the curb with spitefulness and demonising us, i hope that DT makes headway then it's welcome back to the fold and we missed you.. .
Oh, I'm American, living in the Cape Fear region of North Carolina, so I thought they were saying Cape Fear instead of Cape Clear. Maybe in another version I heard that. One of my favorite shanties!
Take your Lefty marx-ist woke crap and Jog on with it, Immigrants built nothing to What made UK.. The only ones who can be close would be our Ancestral Irish cousins, but they're still part of the British Isles and was part of the 3 kingdoms...
One school of thought is that the "Jenny get you oat cakes done" replaced "Johnny get your oats, my son" when very polite people wrote the words down for publication.😀
Soon we'll reach them blackhall docks And the pretty little girls will come down in flocks With their long tailed drawers And their long tailed frocks ......Come and get yer oats me son.
North Sea Gas, a very interesting name for a band. Many thanks for uploading Sir.

I heard the dreadnoughts version if this. Its suprising how much variation there is between the two.
This one is better

Now that is a good tune.
Absolute banger.
Ah the Eddystone Rock. Bane of English saliors.
The feeling of getting past a nasty rock/stack must've been immense.

Nice shanty
Is “pig tail sailor” referring to Chinese sailors with their long queues or just English sailors with braided hair?
More than likely the latter mate
I believe they're referring to the officers.
Here in the Royal Danish Navy, the officers rank insignia is sometimes mockingly called a "pigtail"
in the days of queued wigs, soldiers and sailors grew their hair long and braided it into a queue.

I could be completely wrong but this sounds like Da Sind Wir Aber Immer noch (but the British came first of course)
Wow, surprising the East Germans would use that melody.
