First viking music, then sea shanties, now irish pub music. I like this train I'm on
Same here
been there since 2008 and never managed to leave
glad im not alone
Same 🤣🤣
That's exactly how I got here, looks like we are on the same train.
It all started with a like on a vid of a Irish girl at a wedding
In the valley-o?
Just came from there
For real huh
It fucken did
Got me😄
This is the Ultimate way to do this song.
In a pub, "randomly", amongst a bunch of strangers
So me, a rogue bard, popped this up on a piano on a pub in Oxford (Half Moon, Cowley Road) and a group of oldies just up and left. The barmaid (who did not want to date me) and the other Irish fella (brickie doing the rounds) feckin' loved it. Crackin' afternoon!
Girl: I bet he goes to the pub to chat up other girls
Him at the pub:
im going to tell my kids that this is how pubs looked like before covid
And they will do again my friend, we'll never die
Magic harmony!Beautifully done . .👍
@@michaelwalsh4917 hopefully...
@@McChicken637 :: With a working vaccine and a 97% recovery, we better damn well be able to do this again

How the hell did I get here? Nevermind, it's gonna play on a loop for week now.

Im in day 27. This is life now.
Welcome!

Peak Ireland in the clutter of voices before they start:
"Are you looking for work?"
"I'm looking for a beer"
Ireland has mentally taken the world on its side. I completely fell in love with them.
Sitting in a pub, drinking a pint, and hearing The Ramparts perform an Irish folk song just made the top of my bucket list.
The only way I can see of making this happen is spending the rest of my life in Dublin pubs and hoping
That's a worthy bucket list item!
I got Chillzzz. 💚
Same!! No doubt I could fall in love with Ireland 💚
what do you think of : entering a pub, order a pint and then hearing them ?
GF: he’s probably cheating on me rn.
The boys...
Totally
Yes, actually
The hell, WHO ARE YOU?
GF: he’s probably cheating on me rn.
The boys: In the marry month of june
;)
I lived in Dublin from 1972 to 1978. It was a magical time for Irish music.
My grandma used to sing us tons of songs like this just in Gaelic. Beautiful she was.
Oh that sounds like it was wonderful
This is so Irish, that the glass of water I had before the video transformed into a pint of Guinness.
I fucking hate Guinness! I prefer Duvel, but I like the song!
I was already drinking a pint of beer but I just trenscended into something else
LOL
Aye, I got a buzz from your glass of water through this vid.
As if by magic 😉
There is something about an all male choir. The tone is SO deep and full. Gets the blood up and stirs the spirit.
said perfectly.
its that inner tribal caveman acting up
based on army brigades. so yeup.
@@KillerPojo12 hell yeah..
as i was in the army we sung and marched step in step..
man that feeling in the bulk marchin and singin was freakin awesome, i can tell you..
And not a single soul whipped up their phones and recorded. It's just an audience engrossed in that pure, nostalgic culture.
This is a music video not a life performance mate
this is an official recording... not a candid one
The best version I've heard ,the harmonising,I can hear every word, but it is often sung in a faster tempo
Harry Potter in front off sings absolutely gorgeous :o
The moment i saw him i was like...there...DANIEL RADCLIFFE lolz!!!
@@eimhearodalaigh7714 okay, i think your brother Kevin? is looks like Daniel Radcliff? its so nice but its very nice to see the group singing. best greets

The whole song I'm like, this is awesome and all, but, is that frikin Harry Potter????
As a Russian this gives me goosebumps. It's hard to believe there was a time when this type of songs was sung across the Europe. Irish, Scandinavian, Spanish, Italian, Greek folk songs are great.
It’s Simpler times we yearn for
Make folk songs great again
American here. We were at a wine festival in Wiesbaden Germany. The locals were teaching us some songs, and all we had in return was the theme to Gilligan's Island. We just don't have the history for folk songs, I guess.
@@edwardskeva9307 At least you made the effort to come back to the motherland. All Europeans are Indo-European brothers and sisters....even those that live in the states, Canada, Australia etc.

The power of just the human voice alone is amazing.
A week ago today I visited Stag's Head and had a pint for you all! First time in Ireland, I cried on my last day, I didn't want to leave. Such an amazingly beautiful country full of the kindest people you'll ever meet. See you in Dublin soon.
There's something mystical that happens when enough people speak in unison: The voice that comes forth is almost always the same one, like some ancient, invisible beast invoked by chanting all together, channeling the voices of the entire choir to make itself heard.
I call this beast the spirit of The Crowd, myself. It's a wild, fickle one.
Wonderful sentiment.
'Tis a wonder, and I swear, this sounds like something fake, a story woven round some fantastical story, yet, it's true, and I love how you articulated this.
Imagine some movie narrator like Morgan Freeman reading your words to set up the story.
The voice of Unity kept by the ancestors of our cells……..the unity of all tribal peoples…….let love come forward……..
I get goosebump everytime
Yes! That reminds me of the concept of an egregore.
As a west virginian hillbilly, folk music is transcendant of cultures. Everyone can recognize soul and feeling. Everything from sea chanties to bluegrass to irish folk, its all the same. We all worked the same dirt, got the same blisters, and drank the same liquor at the end of the day
If you ever go to Ireland, you will see how similar some of the land lays, but more importantly, those rock fences you have everywhere? So IRISH!! So many Irish settled in WVA!!
Ireland has so many connections to Appalachia when it comes to music and culture. So many Irish immigrants settled in the area and brought their traditions with them
This is beautiful.

It was filmed at Hogwarts, in the pub in the basement.

@@MuayThai_Don Some can be Caucasian and be from other parts of Europe, Africa, South Asia and the Americas. Open your mind. You do not have to be Irish to learn, sing and play Irish melodies. You do not have to be any ethnicity in Ireland to appreciate or take part in when it comes to Irish music, it is there for all. That is the point. Listen to the words of the songs and you will understand.
@@LeonVEKH Lad, what? Nowhere did I say you have to be irish to sing irish songs and nowhere did I say they couldn't be from somewhere else so we obviously not on the same page so stop typing to me, thanks

Lyrics:
In the merry month of June from me home I started
Left the girls of Tuam nearly broken hearted
Saluted Father dear, kissed me darling mother
Drank a pint of beer, me grief and tears to smother
Then off to reap the corn, leave where I was born
Cut a stout blackthorn to banish ghosts and goblins
A brand new pair of brogues, rattlin' o'er the bogs
Frightenin' all the dogs on the rocky road to Dublin
One two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!
In Mullingar that night I rested limbs so weary
Started by daylight me spirits bright and airy
Took a drop of the pure
Keep me heart from sinking
That's the Paddy's cure whenever he's on drinking
To see the lassies smile, laughing all the while
At me curious style, 'twould set your heart a bubblin'
An' asked if I was hired, wages I required
'Till I was nearly tired of the rocky road to Dublin
One two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!
In Dublin next arrived, I thought it such a pity
To be soon deprived a view of that fine city
Well then I took a stroll, all among the quality
Bundle it was stole, all in a neat locality
Something crossed me mind, when I looked behind
No bundle could I find upon me stick a wobblin'
Enquiring for the rogue, said me Connaught brogue
Wasn't much in vogue on the rocky road to Dublin
One two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!
From there I got away, me spirits never falling
Landed on the quay, just as the ship was sailing
The Captain at me roared, said that no room had he
When I jumped aboard, a cabin found for Paddy
Down among the pigs, played some funny rigs
Danced some hearty jigs, the water round me bubbling
When off Holyhead wished meself was dead
Or better far instead
On the rocky road to Dublin
One two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!
The boys of Liverpool, when we safely landed
Called meself a fool, I could no longer stand it
Blood began to boil, temper I was losing
Poor old Erin's isle they began abusing
"Hurrah me soul!" says I, me shillelagh I let fly
Some Galway boys were nigh and saw I was a hobble in
With a loud "Hurray!" joined in the affray
We quickly cleared the way for the rocky road to Dublin
One two three four five
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
And all the way to Dublin, Whack fol lol le rah!
Whack fol lol le rah!
Whack fol lol le rah

I would LOVE to walk into a pub in Ireland and find this. I’m from Cornwall and we have a similar tradition with the Pub Shout. It’s coming back in a big way, walking into a Cornish pub and hearing folk songs, shanties, traditional Cornish songs etc. It’s the most amazing feeling to be part of a shout and especially to lead on a few songs. Just brilliant.

I never really got to experience my Irish heritage, just because of how Americanized my family got over the generations. It makes me happy to experience part of who I am even though its not that prevalent in my life. One of the most beautiful country.
I found the Irish people and the Netherlands people the most beautiful nations on this planet. They know how to live their life.
