Thanks for answering our questions! We did take the nest box out and clean it out several times. I'm still amazed at the amount of fur Momma pulled! They are now 4 weeks old and we are going to pull the nest box and give them a hide box. Then, I think we will build new nest boxes with the small hole wire bottom. With a litter of 10 kits it was just too nasty too quickly with the wood bottom!

Ah so cute! That clip of the baby jumping into the nest box made me laugh a little too hard. Such a little one making such a big jump! Lol Oh they are so ornery and fun!
The babies are really cute and easy to fall in love with. Right now i have 2 experienced breeders and 2 first timers. So i figure I'll breed them one experienced to a newbee. Hoping for 2 large litters before the summer heat stops my breeding. I won't be breeding in the heat of summer. Too hard on the does and kits.
One of the main reasons that I remodeled my rabbit hutch last year is to put it in deep shade and have more ventilation. We breed year-round, and my hutch is built to hold box fans on the side! Good luck with your litters! 😊
@@TealStoneHomestead right now my rabbits are under my back porch but they still get direct morning sun. And late afternoon sun as well. I've got box fans for all but still need to grow or build a shade on each side of the porch
❤️ Good video. I have an above ground cage for my rabbits and a 6” 2ft long at a slant that go down, with little 2 inch slats going across for leverage so they can climb up into the top-tier and in the nesting area. I have screen for the floor and I use burlap for the mama rabbit to give birth to her babies and so with her hair & burlap it can breathe and there legs don’t go through…plus when it gets dirty all I do is pick up the piece of burlap and lay another piece down. The screen floor allows for the rabbit droppings to go through but in the winter it’s almost like insulation. I’ve never had a problem with my rabbits that is the mama rabbit and the daddy rabbit gets sick. But now that there’s babies kits the daddy stays on the bottom and the mama stays on top with her kits. I feed Mama also alfalfa especially immediately after giving birth so they get the nutrition they need.
I also feed fresh to my adults, it cuts down my feed costs using greens from my garden that I don't love as much like carrot tops and I always have plenty of sweet potato greens. They love the fresh and I do feel like it helps their health to have seasonal variety. I'm starting to grow my own timothy grass so I can guarantee it has no chemicals since I use bunny poop as my #1 fertilizer and the weed killers can transfer through and hurt plant development. It can also last for years, so contaminated animal poop can be dangerous to gardens in a way that is difficult to reverse. Anyways, the fewer people I rely on for my farm to work, the less expensive it is generally and the more eco-friendly (less fuel in travel).
Hey! QUESTION I hope you see this and can answer. We are about to get meat rabbits for the first time. We have a very large kennel at the end of our chicken run that is separated from the run. We bought a seperate coop to keep just the rabbits in. The coop would be in the kennel. I had a 24x24 cage for the buck to keep seperate from does. My thought was to have the does live together not caged in the coop. is that possible or do they HAVE to be in a cage? If they have to be in a cage then I may have to stop the coop mid delivery. We live in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. We have tons of bears and mountain lions which is why we were going to go the route with the coop inside of the kennels. Electric fencing all along outside of the kennels for complete protection. Please let me know if the coop thing would work and not having to cage the does inside of it. Thank you!!
Sorry if someone already asked this, I have 2 pregnant does (first timers) so I'm very happy to find your channel. ☺ You were saying hay is good to start the babies out with. My question is, does that include Timothy hay or just do regular hay at first? I will appreciate your input on this. Also, your hutch and tractor are SO CUTE!
You are cute! Good to know- I’ll wear old, yard clothes- they are so cute!! Thank you- I’m at pregnancy day 6 on my first batch- do I have to have a lid on my nest box-? Mom is an outside free bunny in my back yard(no holes, way to escape or anything getting in).But I will bring her in a cage here in the house that day 25, keep her in for the birthing and the first few weeks, then hope to have them in a controlled environment outside.
I have a problem...Help please?! I have a 3.5 year old ND doe who has had litters before I got her and I got her 6 months ago. Gorgeous girl. Kinda shy but loves me now. I began researching breeding and wanted to get into it. Bought an ND boy who was 12 weeks old with beautiful colours.. Housed them separately and settled him in etc... Long story short - He is now 9 months old. I put them together in the tractor style breeding method I learned from you. Nothing happened as he wasn't quite sure what to do! lol Interested alright but not figuring it out properly. Tried each day for around 10 days the same method...nothing. He just wasn't getting it! I noticed that they really liked each other and so I ended up just leaving him go play in and out of her hutch with her. - sort of free roaming the garden. Left the doors opened during playtime.. Then after a couple of weeks they started sleeping together and stretching out together during playtime. `They looked bonded so I just left them stay together. That was about 6 weeks ago. Figured that he would get it eventually and if not, then I would just spay him and let them live together. I came out this morning and found 4 kits! I'm estimating that they are around 5 days old. They are healthy looking, clean eyes, warm to touch and very wriggly. My issue now is how do I handle the buck living in the same accommodation? He is eating with mama bunny, standing on the nest box looking protective when I check the babies. He knows what they are it seems. She seems to love her buddy with her too which is confusing me. All advice I have seen online states that the buck is a danger to the kits and that mum could also attack him etc etc. How would you assess this situation? Would love some insight from a more experienced hand!
Thanks for the great video. Loved them trying to get a nibble throughout the video! They are just beautiful! I just got all my noncage items delivered from KW cages, super excited about that. I had emailed you back with a few questions a few days back, not sure if you missed or were thinking it over. No rush, just wanted to mention in case it slipped by.I frequently get texts when I’m busy that I don’t reply to until the next time I go to message that person. 😂
I'm breeding both my does tomorrow. That will be a little early for my momma doe but I'm planning on only doing this once. That way both does will kindle together incase I need to have one adopt some kits.
Oh my goodness this was so stinking adorable! I was just telling my niece's a few days ago that I'm preparing for the garage area for either future Quail or a future pair of rabbits but unfortunately I cannot get Quail or rabbits unless I go to the pet store for the rabbits and I don't want the tiny little rabbits I want the big rabbits like you have. But I'd like to get it Young. Been watching your videos and I'm totally in love with the rabbits and I started getting the books on the maintenance and care of rabbits. Plus I'm setting up my Gardens and their future droppings and the hay will come in handy for the garden. One question? The hay that you give your rabbit is that Timothy Hay?
I appreciate your videos soooo much being a first time rabbit owner. I would like to know the best way to handle my adult bunnies. I was picking them up by the scruff of their neck but they really scratch me. Also, why do you cover their eyes on some videos? I had my two female bunnies together since they were little and they were so sweet and affectionate. Then one day, around 4-5 months old, they got in a terrible fight and one hurt the other, tearing an ear, etc. I separated them since then, but now when in the outdoor pen which has a separating fence, they snuggle up to each other and lay side by side. What the heck? At first I thought maybe they were bucks or one of them was, but now they have developed dewlaps so I guess they really are females. They are about 8 months now. Since your videos I have spent more time in their outdoor pen with them and they are much friendlier with me than before. THANK YOU
Your rabbits are adorable! Really enjoying your channel. Maybe you have a video on it already but I was curious as to how you tell the males from the females. I read once that it's around six weeks that you can tell? Also I am raising American blue meat rabbits. I have two babies right now and another doe expecting in about 10 days.
Thanks for another great video! Did you do a video on your tractor? I may have missed it.. just was curious about how you set up the little enclosure side. Let me know if you covered it in another video and I'll go check it out! Thanks as always!!
What kit mortality rate are you ok with? I read that commercial rabbitries expect no more than 5% mortality but I see some homesteaders with 25 - 50% mortality.
I’m okay with losing one kit per litter, but ideally we lose no kits (and this is typically the case). I feel that anyone consistently losing 25-50% of kits have some mismanagement going on and need to evaluate the health of their rabbits or their nutrition. It’s a case by case situation though. Genetics may also play a role but I wouldn’t want to continue breeding mamas that always lose kits.
Hi Tiffany, Thanks for such an informative video. I took a lot of notes because... I am a beginner rabbit breeder. Just ordered 3 cages from KW Cages (from your navigation). I see that all your cages have trays. I am very interested of how to clean trays easier. If you have a video on this topic, please indicate it. Thank you!☺
Ever since the babies have been born, not only have I been checking on them every 12 hrs or a little less, I have a security cam, to make sure everyone is still moving under all that fur and to make sure mama visits them at least once a day.
let's say you have a litter with 5 bucks... do you put them all in separate cages so they don't fight at the 12 weeks mark but you can leave the does together?
I love your channel! I have one question what do you do with the mom's fur when you clean out the nesting box do you want to keep it or will they replace it with new fur?
I came for the rabbit care tips but the the intro song had me like... "woah, its 2.41 am, and I too cant sleep😳" Serious note, my doe ignored the nest I setup up for her and made her nest in her dig box, should I move the kits to the nest box?
I would clean it between 7-10 days if you have a solid bottom. If you have a mesh bottom you might not need to in the summer! Just feel around in there, if it’s wet then I’d clean it.
Just tipped nest boxes, this morning hay was out of the boxes. Good grief! Three does kindled 2/23-2/25. One was stillborn but there's 22 live. First litter for does and our first for rabbits. Plan to breed 3 times per year. Is that enough?
It just depends on your situation! That’s an average of 180 lbs. of dressed meat a year (8 kits per litter X 3 litters = 24 kits. Three breedings a year per doe = 72 kits, each kit dresses out to an average of 2.5lbs of meat)
@@TealStoneHomestead I didn't ask the question correctly. Will few pairings minimize litter size? A 4th doe didn't take so got rebred and will kindle in a couple weeks. Lots of cuteness!
@@lilbitatatime3763 oh I understand. I think that will be enough 😊 I typically do 4 litters a year. To me, I haven’t noticed a correlation between litter size and how often the doe is bred. As long as she does not sit idle and get fat, you’ll be fine 😊
I actually just walked out to my hutch to feed around 10pm the other night and one of my mommas was nursing her 4 week olds 🥰 the lights were on. They like the lights, it gives them extended daylight. I turn them off before going to bed though.
What do you do if your babies don’t have big round bellies? I have a doe who is a first time mama and she was doing pretty well but now the babies are t eating as well and are pretty skinny.

Ur videos are so wonderfully helpful. Thank you for ur time and effort making them!
Very nice and beautiful Rabbits 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻🌹🌹🌹🌹
I love your videos so educative im planning to start off
Thanks for sharing the outtakes, very cute!
Your bunnies are to die for. 😍
This is some wonderful information and very helpful thank you for putting it together 😊
Very excited to start my rabbit tree. Thank you so much for this series of videos, loved every minute of it
Thank you!!
Really cute bunnies. Hope to adopt one of your line. From here in the Philippines
I can’t get over how pretty she is
Solstice or Tiffany? 😂😂😂

Sorry if someone already asked this, I have 2 pregnant does (first timers) so I'm very happy to find your channel. ☺
You were saying hay is good to start the babies out with. My question is, does that include Timothy hay or just do regular hay at first?
I will appreciate your input on this. Also, your hutch and tractor are SO CUTE!
Cheers, My buck is jealous of the new rabbits, he's waiting to be in same cage.
So excited to watch it😃
You are cute!
It’s not totally necessary to have a lid, but I think it makes them feel safer when they are nursing. My rabbits like sitting on top of the box.
Hi @tealstonehomestead
Hi,
Why does my doe makes a bleating sound when l put her to the buck?
this gives me such nice spring vibes:)
So ready for it!! ❤️
They’re so funny! Yes I got that email, so sorry!! I will respond ASAP 😊
All your video very educational thanks
I'm breeding both my does tomorrow. That will be a little early for my momma doe but I'm planning on only doing this once. That way both does will kindle together incase I need to have one adopt some kits.
That is always a good plan! 😊❤️
Thank you so much. This was very informative and helped me a lot.
This is a real life indeed I enjoy
Another great video😁😁
Your baby buns are looking great, I’ve got 3 does due in the next week!😁🐇🐰
Very cool! I’ll be having 3 litters at the end of April 😊
hope to have a rabbit like yours, they're so cute, hoping and praying someone could give from another country
Love this video, can you please show the drinking through.thanks
Hey, I love your channel. It's very calming
Thank you so much! 😊
THANK YOU
Oh beautiful presentation. What is the best diet for rabbits that just gave birth.
Hello
Thanks for another great video! Did you do a video on your tractor? I may have missed it.. just was curious about how you set up the little enclosure side. Let me know if you covered it in another video and I'll go check it out! Thanks as always!!
I did not! I sort of talked about them my Creme d’Argent babies video. I might be building another this year, and I’ll film it if I do 😊
My bunny just gave birth I don't know what to do
Really enjoying your videos. Planning on beginning rabbity (and chickens) as early Spring as possible. Watching your videos is making me more antsy. 🥴
This is a very late question but I just recently found you channel. What type of hay do you recommend for your bunnies?
Timothy, alfalfa, etc?
I usually do mix hays. Timothy, clover, and grass are all good options. A little bit of alfalfa is okay, but don’t feed adults straight alfalfa 😊
Great stuff. From Bucks PA
I got a a 2 months old baby wild rabbit running into in house fron the forest and its been acting frindely
Thank you!☺
West meadow rabbits on UA-cam has a guide on how to clean I think!
Do you have a video for identifying bucks and does. Thank you
So far I've only caught my doe feeding her kits about 9 to 10 pm.
Ever since the babies have been born, not only have I been checking on them every 12 hrs or a little less, I have a security cam, to make sure everyone is still moving under all that fur and to make sure mama visits them at least once a day.
Beautiful video! Please what are the dimensions for the nesting box, thank you
let's say you have a litter with 5 bucks... do you put them all in separate cages so they don't fight at the 12 weeks mark but you can leave the does together?
Hi! What editing app do you use for your videos?
Настоящая женщина молодец, удаче Вам
How do you sex them? Is there a video on that? I need to separate mine but I have no idea what I'm doing. Thank you for so much useful information! 💜
Love Love Love!
the tan colored one is just like one of my toys1
I love your channel! I have one question what do you do with the mom's fur when you clean out the nesting box do you want to keep it or will they replace it with new fur?
I came for the rabbit care tips but the the intro song had me like... "woah, its 2.41 am, and I too cant sleep😳"
Serious note, my doe ignored the nest I setup up for her and made her nest in her dig box, should I move the kits to the nest box?
Thanks for your videos they’re very informative 🙂
When is the best time to clean the nest box? We woke up with 8 litters Sunday morning, and now they are 3 days old.
The box looks clean but I am worried it might be soaked at the bottom and also to avoid that "nest box eyes"
@@TealStoneHomestead Oh, now I understand. It's the getting fat that could possibly interfere with breeding. Thank you much!
You mentioned that moms will nurse at night. I know you have lights on your hutch do you turn them off when you have nursing babies,?
I actually just walked out to my hutch to feed around 10pm the other night and one of my mommas was nursing her 4 week olds 🥰 the lights were on. They like the lights, it gives them extended daylight. I turn them off before going to bed though.
Hi im new here im from maine love bunnies
Very helpful video! Thank you!
They are so cute
What do you do if your babies don’t have big round bellies? I have a doe who is a first time mama and she was doing pretty well but now the babies are t eating as well and are pretty skinny.
Do the babies just eat the mom’s pellets, or do you put a separate bowl for the babies?
i love your channel i followed your breeding process and i’ll let you know if it was a successful breeding
was it successful?!?!
quite informative
HI THERE, I THINK I PRETTY MUCH Know the ANSWER. BUT I RESCUED MY FIRST TIME MOMMA AND DID NOT EXPECT A LITTER SHE'S 6 MONTHS OLD AND I WOKE UP TO 6 LITTLE BABIES SCATTERED ALL OVER THE CAGE. SHE DIDN'T PULL FUR SO I USED MY DOGS FUR AND I HAD TO WARM THEIR LITTLE COLD BODYS.I KNOW YOUR SUPPOSED TO LEAVE THEM BE BUT I SAW ANOTHER PERSON HOLD MOMMA DOWN AND MADE HER FEED, I THOUGHT THAT'S NOT GONNA TURN HER INTO A GOOD MOMMA RIGHT? ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED THANK YOU I ALWAYS LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS, TAKE CARE!
I really like silver fox breed I raise flourish giant
Hey thank you so much for your videos, so cute!! 🩷 My doe had two kits about four days ago, but i’m slightly worried she isn’t feeding them… they’re skinny and wrinkly and very lethargic. What should I do??
