Hy Lillie, it would be great if you could do a video about vitamin deficiencies for carnivores and educate people. According to my experience and research, Folate(B9), Boron but also Magnesium and Potassium is impossible to get from a pure meat based diet. Just an idea, thanks! (It feels horrible to have a lack of B9!)

Thanks for the idea! I've spoken about magnesium & potassium a bunch. I feel like I explain the folate issue in several videos though I must not be communicating well enough. I have a few different videos showing food break downs of just eating meat and what is lacking though I recognize not everyone watches all my videos. Thanks for letting me know people would love to hear more about this :)

What’s up Lillie. Just a shoutout. Been on my keto/carnivore journey since October. Watched so many hours of videos. All the great doctors like Shawn Baker, Ken Berry, etc. Lots of talks on Low Carb Down Under channel. Sometimes feels like information overload, but gradually coming to my own conclusions. And I must say, the way you summarize things matches my feeling about what seems most important. Thanks for the hard work you put into your content. Rock on!

@@buckmurdock2500 She tells it real. 5 months in, and I stopped listening to the strict carnivores because for me, it's just not realistic. My body FEELS BETTER now that I've added in some carbs. And all those strict carnivores basically make it sound impossible to moderate carb intake. Hint, if you're getting all the protein your body needs, like Lillie Kane says, you WON'T overeat carbs. Speaking from experience. Doing what's right for one's own body does mean following what FEELS right for YOU, not obeying the dictation of popular influencers on the subject. Best of luck

I know how you FEEL! I did the same thing 5 years ago when I started intermittent fasting. I watched hundreds of videos, read tons of articles and listened to a plethora of podcasts. I learned a little bit from all of them and picked what worked best for me. Now I’m doing the same thing with carnivore. I’m on day 7 and feel like strict carnivore is just a little too much and so I’m doing a keto version of carnivore. I like a little steak sauce on my steak. I like my keto :ratio yogurt. I like some seasonings on my meat not just salt. I like a scoop of whey protein and half and half in my coffee. I like shrimp with cocktail sauce. I like sardines in Louisiana hot sauce. Maybe that will change but at the moment it’s working fine. Why make things harder than they need to be?

  • @espinosalexis

Well done Lilly! I always thought the protein vs meat clarification was necessary, and nobody else does it. 👍
    Now, some comments:
    1) There are raw protein powders with no additional ingredients. But I agree, powders should be supplementary and not our main source.
    2) You mention protein needed to grow your hair, nails, etc. But that is the less important part. There is a protein replacement cycle in all our body. So the most important role of dietary protein is that it's needed to get into the protein replacement of bones, brain, nerves, all organs, skin and muscle just for healthy maintenance of all parts of the body. Second most important role is growth, like growth of muscle. Third is growth of hair and nails.
    3) I'm surprised you are not recommending to pass the leucine threshold in the first meal of the day (~2g of Leucine ~ 40g of protein ~ 120g of lean meat). This to break the catabolic fast in the first meal and move into anabolic state during our eating window of the day. Please interview Dr. Don Layman and Dr. Gabrielle Lyon to go deeper on this.

And movement, especially walking, ab and leg and push-ups exercises. Modify to your ability level. 74 yrs of age 3 years carnivore and still tweaking things. Eating very rare/ raw meat for one of my 2 meals. More satiating.

I’ve tried lots of different combinations but if I don’t eat right I end up shaking, hypoglycaemic and sick/ faint feeling. I weight 115 lbs , I’m 5ft5. I don’t have much fat on my body. I usually eat no significant carbs for breakfast but eat 2 fried eggs, 1 whole avacado and some kimchi with a banana. For lunch I have 2 Wheatabix, a cup of milk, 2 slices of wholemeal toast, 50grams of chicken breast , apple and kiwi, maybe 50grams cashews. Dinner I have around 100grams of beef or chicken broccoli couple potatoes or a little wholemeal pasta. I’ve tried less carbs and I can’t function I get the above symptoms between meals. I’ve have diabetes tests so it’s not that. I think it’s my body fat (mine is 2 according to my scales). I have had to make sure I have hardly any carbs in the morning and have lots of fats which is interesting. Carbs on an empty stomach doesn’t work for me either. Thanks for the info. I tend to have 70 to 90 grams of protein per day.

I've never been one to measure. I eat until I'm full. I typically eat between 1 1/2 to 3 lbs of some combination of fatty meat, cheese, and eggs. It depends on the day. Weighing 170 lbs, that should give me plenty of protein. Besides, I add collagen (also use colostrum). I don't get how people have a hard time getting enough protein. I'd say stop eating so many carbs and your protein deficiency will probably go away. Eat fatty protein until full and, if you feel you must, treat yourself with some carbs.

Of protein, which kicks my sugar up and that's not good. So I am working on figuring out just how much I can eat. Maybe you should do a video on protein for diabetics.

1 packet of tuna (23 grams) 5 cups leafy greens (4.5 grams) 1/4 cup sunflower seeds (5.5 grams) garlic, apple cider vinegar, olive oil. 1 tablespoon of nutritional yeast (5 grams) 1 cup of Ratio or Greek yogurt (15 grams).
3 eggs (18 grams) & 4 oz of meat (20 grams) protein shake like to low carb one at Aldi (30 grams) w/ 3 Tablespoons nut butter (10 grams)
1/2 cup of cottage cheese (13 grams) 1/2 an avocado (2 grams) 1 tomato (1 gram)

Holy cow Lillie! Where was all this info when I did the carnivore BBBE last summer and just devastated myself? You were the one who straightened me out about not getting enough carbs to support my active career activities though. Of course I didn't have an exit plan for the carnivore lifestyle and my weight loss stopped. I was never obese but I wanted to get back to a more ideal weight going into my 60th year. I've put back on about 6lbs since last summer and now tend to go off and on carnivore because I just can't eat enough fat to sustain my energy and muscle tone. I will save this video because it contains all the info I was lacking going in to carnivore. Thanks Lillie, you're a peach. (or should I say big ribeye?)

I thought I might be eating too much protein, your video made me feel better. 150g is my minimum, usually hit 200g+, most of it from food. My fat/carb ratio is close to the protein, didn't really consider that but it makes sense. I'm 5'6 135 pounds but I'm lifting weights looking to hit about 175 pounds.

You can get plenty of energy without eating carbs.
Your body has to be used to it though, because carbs, as you mentioned, burn easier than protein or fat.
But once you exercise your (pancreas is it? That produces bile)

I attended a "Graysheet" Over Eaters' Anonymous meeting as a guest. They actually had a very screwed-up take on protein, recommending that people limit their daily intake to less than needed for good health and vitality. The only "sober" person there was leading the meeting, and she was frail and underweight. The other 25 or so people were all very overweight or obese. Their unit of measurement was "1 protein," and the protein content of "1 protein" varied widely depending upon which food was being referred to as "1 protein." In no case could the recommended numbers of "1 proteins" per day or week total enough for satiety or health. What a mess!

This is absolutely perfect. Eat protein. Meat is of course the best source. I love what Dr Anthony Chaffee said...eat until it doesn't taste good....and if you think you arre hungry...but dont feel like eating meat/protein...then you are not hungry..you are just having a craving

Do you have a video that shows what different things that you eat in a day so that i can try that? Im almost 67 yrs old and i have lost weight before on keto, so i know i can do it. Thanks for sharing.
I have been influenced lately by Dr. Ted Naiman (actually while talking to you, and then also talking to Dr. Gabrielle Lyon.)
I have decided to focus on protein, and dial the fat down. I am actually sharing this high protein 30 day challenge on youtube. I see that my carbs and fats are probably not equal to or more than protein, but I’m going to keep doing it every day for 30 days, and see how it goes. I am currently on day 4, and I share what i eat on YT everyday.
I have been mostly keto/carnivore for the last 6 years. Lately i have been thinking that maybe i do eat too much fat… so I am switching it up a little. I still have 80lbs or so to lose. After 30 days maybe i will add more carbs and fat to my routine. 🤔
I have to laugh when you say “i will not eat slowly”. I won’t either!😂. When I actually was a “diet recruit” in marine corps bootcamp they put us heavy guys in the back of the line, and you get a SHORT amount of time to eat… Since we got served last we had even less time, but i usually finished. 😂

I agree with pretty much what you are saying, but when you eat meat, fatty cuts are best to satiate you longer. I no longer buy lean cuts of meat, or lean ground beef, because I do want the fat, which satisfies me even longer.

I hope I’m not too late, just found your video. You explain simply and clearly, thank you! I do have a question though :)
Summary: I believe you said it doesn’t matter when you eat your protein, just get it in before the day is over (?).
Years ago, when I was a bodybuilder, I was advised to separate my protein intakes at least four hours in between. So I would divide my daily protein intake by three or four and make sure I ate each one at least four hours apart. The reason being, so this person said, is that “your body can only taken so much protein at a time. Eating too much at once could cause the excess to be stored as fat.” These days I like to intermittent fast 16/8, so I could not do this.
Question: Do you think this person’s advice to me is valid? I followed it back then, and I certainly got down to my contest weight however, these days I really don’t know if it’s necessary. I am just a hiker that likes to stay fit. I have not been a bodybuilder for a long time. Thank you for your channel 💕👍🏻

My goal weight is 150 lbs and I don't eat nowhere near 150 grams of protein per day.
I have had to go away from eating meat due to the negative affects on my health and blood pressure and elevated stress factor.
When I was eating meat I was always hungry and could never satiate and could never lose weight, no matter what I did.
Eating a whole raw food diet I feel great and satiate very quickly. I don't get nowhere close to 150 grams of protein.
My whole food diet is primarily nuts, seeds, veggies, greens, fruit (lots of fruit), berries, legumes, rice.
My starchy foods like rice and root crops are typically cooked the day before and then reheated and eaten the next day as this increases the resistant starches and they now act as fiber.
I still consume some, dairy (milk, butter, cottage cheese, Kefir, yogurt) and eggs and bacon but not all the time. These I have not seen affect on my health so far.
I have not notice a muscle loss and have much more energy and been able to lose weight since getting away from the meats and fish.
My system has naturally gone back to the way I used to eat growing up eating once a day and not at all hungry the rest of the time.
Everything I eat, I have always enjoyed eating so I am not forcing myself to eat what I don't enjoy.
I don't miss the meat or processed foods at all.

I wonder how I can hit the protein goal while being in a caloric deficit and without using expensive yet low fat meats. More dairy? A protein shake? Are those recommended at all because they are highly artificial/processed?
Currently i just go for 2-meals: 400g organic ground beef (80/20) and 5 large organic eggs, some butter for frying totals in 1700 kcal but only 120g of protein. And despite of only eating every other day I still feel full from all the fat. And it’s quite affordable for a carnivore way of eating at 4-5€ for meat and
