  • When a young student failed to go to her morning study session or meet her brother for lunch, people immediately knew something was wrong. Little did they know that just a few hours before, 911 had been called after screams for help were heard coming from that very apartment. This is the case of Shannon Schieber.

My niece was brutally murdered in PA. Some, good ol’ boy ‘cops’ accused my sister of being hysterical and dismissed her cry’s for help. My sister and I tracked this guy-through his credit card purchases-and told the cops that he was in their area. They asked her if she saw “pink elephants” too.
My 19yo niece was murdered a few days later. In her own home. With an order of protection (aka a piece of paper) lying on the kitchen counter.

@@sharpshooter_Aus Common sense. Clearly if two people heard something, pin pointed it was coming from THAT apartment, they had every right to knock it down. Nothing to do with emotion. Just a lack of common sense. And furthermore, the neighbor told them that it sounded like someone was being choked. If someone was being choked my guess is they wouldn't be able to, at that point, respond back when they knocked. A better question is, what if it was their son, brother, uncle, father, or best male friend? Men seem to care about other men and themselves more than they care about the women in their lives. They do this because they can relate to each other and that seems to give them a human connection, where it is easy for them to see women as tools or nusances. We have to always deal with men with this in mind.

Stephanie Harlow, she's a bonafide baddie and deserves being in the top 3. So, so good!

I can not thank you enough for the compassion and empathy that you maintained throughout this entire video. I am a survivor of rape. I know what it feels like to not have anyone listen to you. It makes you feel alone and victimized. And worst of all, you begin to question yourself entirely. My rapist was never tried in a court of law. Despite the fact that I had handprint bruising on my inner leg areas. I was also told by the sexual assault nurse that my internal bruising was some of the worst she'd seen in her career. I had a wonderful detecrive that was very empathetic. He was even puzzled as to why the prosecutor chose not to take it to court. I become sick to my stomach when people say disgusting things about rape victims who do not speak up until many years after their rape has occurred. They are afraid of the scrutiny that they know they will be forced to face. When will society, law enforcement, and the judicial system stop revictimizing folks who have already been through the worst thing imaginable?

As if the family and other victims were doing it for the sake of the criminal! 😡 Also, the random comments from people dismissing the family's (and other victims') choice were as equally appalling!

I do get that as a police officer you can't just go breaking down people's doors however with the way two different neighbors were adamant they heard something you have to act. If it's a mistake then you beg for forgiveness afterwards and impress upon people that you had two neighbors who were extremely concerned. It's a shame. Truly heartbreaking.
What really drives me insane is the statute of limitations on crimes..in this case, five years for rape. For the victim, the impact of that rape doesn't magically disappear after five yeats. The system is giving the perpetrators a free pass after that passage of time...and with speed and urgency that many departments deal with these crimes it's literally almost guaranteed that they are home free no matter whst they do sexually. A friend of mine reported her rape, went through the added trauma of having a rape kit done, only to have it sit on a shelf waiting to be processed for the next 4 1/2 yrs. The serial rapist was caught and charged but not with her rape, it was just over the five yr mark and according to the system.... it hadn't happened.
She is a much different person now 😥.
