I feel bad, I am a large man and I walk around my city, airpods in, day or night, unconcerned with anyone around me. I feel bad at times, I walk past a woman or girl, and often feel the anxiety. Occasionally I can feel it building when they're still far away, just afraid of what might happen. I make eye contact with everyone I pass when I am out, but under those kinds of conditions I try to look and smile then look back away quickly, it feels like the most reassuring thing to do, don't want to like, challenge them by looking long. Which i dont do to anybody, but still. And try to give a wide berth, not get into anyone's space. It makes me feel bad though, I am pretty and a happy and kind person so in other conditions, nobody finds me threatening. But out on the street, there's a vulnerability people feel there, it's sad that the world is like this.

@@mamacito1795 the only damage needs to be from patriarchy. Most men have, at some point, felt entitled to sex. It may have been something simple like a birthday bj or something messed up like this, but a man's right to sex is implicit aspect of the patriarchy.
Women should be able to walk alone without the risk of being harmed. What about those who work late at night? It’s crazy how people criticize adult females for exercising a basic right.
I wish we lived in a world without predators too, but we don't so you tell me how we protect women from these people? If I walked out into a lions den, I wouldn't be shocked if I got eaten alive. Do you see what I mean?
Because with 'freedom'' comes responsiblity. Just because you 'can', doesn't mean you should. Wisdom must be applied in all things. Is it really the right job for her, if she has to work late at night? Probaby not.
I run a cat rescue. I just got home from a NYE party and am listening to this as I'm changing in preparation to head back out to go feed the kittens we have in care at a nearby house. I only had a couple of drinks but I do not really want to risk driving. I also cannot help but feel this is a sign telling me not to walk (even though it's only about a kilometre away). So at the moment I am not quite sure what to do. It is now 2024 and it is despicable that women still cannot walk alone without fear of being attacked. We are mocked for "overreacting" until something terrible happens to us, and then we are blamed and told we "should have known better". This has to stop. We as a society have to do better. Edited to add: It is so weird that there are multiple comments in this thread from people who are assuming the kittens in her care did not need to be fed because of their presumed age etc. Not only is that incredibly presumptuous, it is also missing the point and perpetuating the victim-blaming narrative. The kittens I need to feed are about 10 weeks old (we do not know their exact age because like most of the cats we take in, they are from the streets). Kittens their age should be self-sufficient, but these little ones are getting over a serious illness. My Christmas weekend was spent syringe-feeding them and giving them subcutaneous fluid injections and monitoring them around the clock. I did not celebrate. I did not go see family. I did not open gifts. I gave them everything I had and I successfully brought them back from the brink. It has been a week of hell and I was finally able to go out tonight for a couple of hours and spend much-needed time with friends and colleagues. (If you work in the animal welfare industry, you know how important self-care is and how little of it we allow ourselves.) In this case, they *do* in fact need to be fed and weighed and medicated on a frequent basis. When you run a street cat rescue, this is not the exception to the rule. I am probably okay to drive because I have only had a couple of drinks and that was hours ago. So should I get behind the wheel and put the lives of other people at risk? Or should I walk and put my own life at risk? Or should I forgo the feeding and medication and put the kittens' lives at risk? This is not a decision I should have to weigh up so heavily. I should just be able to walk and feel safe. Full stop.
Yeah, so many people just assuming that there was absolutely no good reason to worry about the kittens and she could go to sleep 100% certain in their well being. I can think of multiple reasons for her concern just off the top of my head. And, statistically, I bet there was a higher chance that something would go wrong with the kittens, compared to the chance that she'd actually be murdered while walking home. Considering the number of women who still manage to walk home safely every night and the number of issues kittens can have. (I know where I live that there's still a higher likelihood my dog will die when I'm gone, than me getting murdered, period - much less specifically murdered while walking home.)
Michael's filthy apartment must have smelled horrific for his friend and the two officers not to have known that poor girl had been murdered and stored in that closet for nearly a month.
Typical incel, gets rejected one time to many and can't understand why no one wants him, and of course put the blame on Rachel. He'd been fantasising for god knows how long, her rejection was too much for him.
Women need to take responsibility for their own actions, especially putting themselves in dangerous situations, like walking alone down dark alleys at 2am in the morning !
They have zero accountability. They don't look at women and girls as human, they're creepy, they're gross, they have bad hygiene and no life skills, yet they think they're entitled to a companion for whom they will improve nothing. People blaming the victim and her boyfriend are just ridiculous. Rachel's murder is solely the fault of the monster who took her life. The boyfriend was irresponsible and went out when he wasn't supposed to but it doesn't make him a murderer. People make mistakes and on this case he made a stupid one. If he knew this would get her killed, he wouldn't have gone out so all you blaming him act like you haven't done anything wrong in your lifetime. Rachel have the right to walk home as we all have and we never think we'll be in danger especially if it's just a few blocks away so give me a break with your high and mighty stance🙄

Females up and down the country came out in solidarity with the movement claiming back the night. Same argument put forward we don't murder ourselves. Morgan St Jean brought out a song called Not all Men and it is a powerful song. first verse and Chorus. Have you ever walked a little faster After midnight when you're all alone? Have you ever pulled your jacket tighter While pretending that you're on the phone? Have you ever held your tongue When someone tried to call you "baby"? I was lucky, I had support, many working nights, shifts don't! Don't assume females are just wondering around the streets at 2am in dark alleys for the fun & are irresponsible, some are doing it to work in places that save lives, to keep a roof over their family, it's not cut n dry. The fact we're even discussing this in 2024 about why a woman can't walk anywhere at anytime for any reason instead of what we can do to make it safe for us to do such an mundane task is sad. Also you do realize attacks happen in daylight hours too, in the home, on public transport.
A loss like this is a loss for all of us. We need to make this world safe for women to walk at anytime of day and in any weather condition. The problem is opportunist scumbags who think they can tell when a woman is vulnerable, and that that equals an opportunity for them. Let’s be real, if women are not safe, then none of us are safe. If you depend on self defense as a man, then you’re sadly mistaken because, when a woman is attacked by one depraved man, then it’s most likely that as a man, you would be attacked by several men who are armed, simply because they want to render your self defense useless. I’m truly sorry to Rachel’s family, it’s a loss for all of us 😢. It might be a murder that happened over 20 years ago but it still matters. Thank you for bringing us this story, Truly Criminal 🙏🏾❤️

Everyone is complaining about Rachel walking alone but what about the selfish boyfriend? Had he not left the kittens alone out of a selfish desire to party, this never would have happened.
Oh come on he’s a victim in this as much as anyone. He went out on New Year’s Eve leaving kittens alone for a bit. Kittens, not babies, kittens. I’m sure the guy feels awful enough about his decision without moronic comments like this.
Got to agree. I guess Mark was just hoping that his deceit about going out partying behind her back - and reneging on the arrangement that they had agreed upon so that their new kittens wouldn’t be neglected - just wouldn’t be discovered by Rachel. I wonder how he felt when he realised the part he played that resulted in her murder? Obviously he didn’t kill her, and normally I’d have some sympathy for people who regret making such an awful decision that put their loved one directly in harm’s way, but he honestly didn’t really seem all that bothered about what happened to her. Very sad case.
Ridiculous. You can put kittens in a box for a few hours, and they'll be fine. It was stupid for her to think they couldn't be on their own for a few hours.

@paperplane-db8qf not very young animals, if they needed to be bottle fed, for instance. His irresponsible actions - and the fact he couldn't be bothered to tell her he wasn't going to do what was agreed, which in turn would have enabled her to either go home earlier when it was safer, or before the mother had the new years drink that prevented her driving, was what created the situation where sge needed to go home. If it wasn't needed, why had they both agreed to it beforehand? He wasn't the pos that killed her, but he certainly had a hand in shaping the scenario that lead to her coming into contact with the pos.

White men seem prone to psychopathy than most.
@@mamacito1795 the only damage needs to be from patriarchy. Most men have, at some point, felt entitled to sex. It may have been something simple like a birthday bj or something messed up like this, but a man's right to sex is implicit aspect of the patriarchy.

Not legally.
Right, the whole sentence sounded odd, murder and rape are two seperate charges.
@@Preppie-thirty There was no rape, legally speaking, if she was dead at the time.

The world doesn't work like that. To think everyone should be able to walk around with impunity is childish.
If men can't control themselves they shouldn't be allowed out after dark.
Same goes with men not just women.
Edited to add:
It is so weird that there are multiple comments in this thread from people who are assuming the kittens in her care did not need to be fed because of their presumed age etc.
(If you work in the animal welfare industry, you know how important self-care is and how little of it we allow ourselves.)
In this case, they *do* in fact need to be fed and weighed and medicated on a frequent basis.
Full stop.
I hope everything went well.
Thank you for taking care of the kitties ❤
You’re a great person, and thank you for caring for the precious kitties ❤❤
Michael's filthy apartment must have smelled horrific for his friend and the two officers not to have known that poor girl had been murdered and stored in that closet for nearly a month.

Yes, she ought, but that's the world we live in. And it's not victim blaming but a call for some sensibility!
Only females live an alternative world where there are no bad guys out there. Men in general are much wiser when it comes to self protection even though men are attacked more often than females. Also if you have ever voted liberal which we know many feminists do then you are directly responsible for creeps like this walking the streets. Most are repeat offenders due to insane liberal policies. I see it everyday in my city.
@@ElaAusDemTal it is a complicated form of victim blaming though, as in it should be a victim who should be more sensible and not the person who killed or harmed her. I mean think about it, no one who’s a victim of theft would be told it’s sensible to not bring anything with you, people can have no issues accepting that it’s the thief who has full responsibility but why is it that when women who are harmed/killed it’s then an issue of “she should be more sensible”

I love your channel. You don't over dramatize but put forward a clear and precise narration. I used to think I was weird liking true crimes but it's so fascinating and is one of the biggest viewing genre's on Netflix. However comments never change. She shouldn't have walked alone been the one voiced the most, Hindsight is a wonderful thing but she did nothing wrong us females do not rape and murder ourselves. Yet every time the blame is put on the victim. I remember when the Yorkshire Ripper was at large and all women were put on a curfew. Females up and down the country came out in solidarity with the movement claiming back the night. Same argument put forward we don't murder ourselves. Morgan St Jean brought out a song called Not all Men and it is a powerful song.
first verse and Chorus.
Have you ever walked a little faster
After midnight when you're all alone?
Have you ever pulled your jacket tighter
While pretending that you're on the phone?
Have you ever held your tongue
When someone tried to call you "baby"?
If you say a word, he's gonna call you crazy
Well, I have and she has, too
---
We all know that it's not all men
We all know that it's not all men
But it's some of them
So we hold our breath, baby nonetheless
Until they stop blaming the females for something they had no hand in. Nothing will change

@@Optics2024Kittens _are_ babies.
It was New years Eve! He didnt want to stay home watching kittens. Not his fault.
Ridiculous. You can put kittens in a box for a few hours, and they'll be fine. It was stupid for her to think they couldn't be on their own for a few hours.
The comment that he could have been found not guilty is ridiculous, the body was in his house in a place he had the key for. Great video
Ew, this guy is gross 🤢 how dare he? 🤬
Happy new year everyone! 🎉
What a monster.
Have just found your channel, you present your videos very well.
She never went back For a drink He forced her 😔 So Sad 💔 RIP Rachel 🤍
As a man, I am deeply disturbed by the boyfriend for not committing to what he said he Wld do at first, staying home to take care of the kittens. All of this cld have been different.
That’s what deeply disturbs you?! Seriously?
Leaving pets alone for a few hours is completely fine. Stop being illogical.
Poor mother she’ll never forgive herself. Truely sad.
