Well I did something stupid as I sometimes do. I swopped the GSA for a KTM Super Adventure and bought an HD Roadglide for a while before realising what a daft idea it was. Nothing wrong with any of the bikes - just a moment of madness on my part.
bought a brand new r1200gs in 2011... decided to change it in 2018 to a R1200gs... only to change it in 2022 to a... Surprise Surprise.. a R1250GS.. Haven´t looked back ..... only forward for the 1300GS
Last week I traded in a 2018 GSA I bought new on a 2023 slightly used R1800B. After placing the bagger in the garage where the GSA used to be, I then tried to sleep that night thinking that I did the right thing. I didn't. 2 days later, I was back at the dealer, buying my GSA back. Oh, I kept the bagger, too. Wife is not pleased. So now I'm sleeping in the garage, too.
If I could only have 1 bike it would be the GSA. I have a 2021 triple black R1250GSA with all the options I could buy at the time. Fantastic motorcycle.
I went through the same dilemma for while and finally bought myself a ‘22 R1250GSA Triple Black. It’s so smooth and plush, I clocked 27,000 kms in the first 12 months. I didn’t want to go through the usual teething problems of a new bike especially with the new engine electronics on the 1300GS. I am also not a fan of the looks of the new bike based on spy shots and not interested in radar cruise control.
same thing I also don't like the look of the new 1300gs but it's nothing new these days that the new design in BMW is disappointing, just look at the new cars they produce😂🤢 and yes cruise control with radar maybe it's nice on the K1600 or Goldwing but nothing worth waiting for
Last week I did a 758 mile ride in one go ,stopped for fuel and a toilet break a few times and have to say I was still fresh when I arrived at my mates house ,amazing bikes can’t fault them
that's all to say:-) You want start immediately and go for a world tour > GS..haha...be save, ride a boxer. It's a legend, coming from the 80is and still most sold bike >> haha, italian, japanese etc.
I had my heart set on a KTM but couldn't find one I liked. Saw a GS for sale nearby, rode it around the block and had to have it. It is a compromise for sure. That KTM engine is next level. But I have learned things about riding on my GS that I didnt know even after 35 years of riding! I have learned to love the BMW (despite not wanting to like it initially) and am constantly reminded: comparison is the thief of joy. Any bike is better than no bike.
I have an Orange heart but sold my awesome KTM 990R for a R1200GS Pepsi and oh boy why I wait so long😂? The beamer is so easy to ride offroad. The best big offroad bike. But I love my 625SXC KTM for only offroad.
Disagree. Anybody who lives with the motorways in the Midlands and who wants the fastest route to decent riding country knows how great adaptive would be to cope with the slow-down, speed-up mways.
@@samsara3694 I live in Coventry, right in the middle of the motorway network. Haven't needed it in 30 years of riding. Although I agree that adaptive cruise is a very worthy tool for trucks.
@@samsara3694 "Would be"??? Have you tried this on a car? It's useless on multi-lanes because cars pull in front of you and the thing slams on your brakes. You're constantly turning the thing on and off. It's more work than regular Cruise. On a bike? No thanks...and who needs that sort of complexity on a motorcycle. It's already too complicated. This is a show-room toy to sell more bikes to theorists. It will make the service departments rich too. No thank you.
Im 66 still ride not a BM, I still love bikes but lots of health problems however going carry on until the body doesn’t allow me any more it’s a struggle every ride worth the pain
@@mikemerrill175 I'm 72. Bought a GSA low suspension last year when I finally retired. Have 28K miles on it now. I purchased Boxflyer valve setting tools and am doing my own 12K tunes, all oil, filter and plug changes...and recently got a No-Mar for the garage so I can change my own tires. Just came back from a dynamite trip burning up the roads of SE Ohio. I'm strong on 90/10 Continental Trail Attack 3 tires on these bikes. They love to be leaned on and can handle the odd unpaved road without punctures and problems. So far, the best I've tried. Oh, and, for the first time, I rode on a rear tire that I installed and balanced myself. Woohoo!
I bought a 23 GSA and absolutely love it. I thought about waiting but the adventure version of the 1300 will be released even later and I don't want to work out the teething problems of a new bike in the middle of an adventure. Zero interest in radar cruise on a bike. And also worried that BMW will introduce their "subscription model" features like their $20/mo heated seats nonsense they've tried with their cars. At this point the bike has been refined so many times that I doubt the 1300 will be a big step up anyway.
My dealer is delivering my new 2023 ADV in 2 days. I can't explain how excited I am, even after dropping $32K. It's light white (red, white, blue) and will be looking so good parked next to my red/white/Blue red headed step child 2020 S1000RR M.
Hi from Texas,!New Subscriber. Great review of the 1250GS. I’m a Disabled Veteran so I can’t afford much. I Ride a 2006 R1200GS that I Traded a Harley for. I Love this Bike. It’s the only Bike I can Ride and not Hurt. My Back is almost all Fusions and the GS puts me in the Perfect Riders position so it doesn’t Hurt to Ride it. One of these Days maybe I’ll be able to afford a newer one, but for now I’m happy. I can also do all the Maintenance and Repairs myself, it’s so easy on the GS. Anyway, Thanks again and I look forward to more Videos. 👍👍
Is there anything worse for your back than a Street Glide with stock suspension? I have a '22 SGS and have loved it, but when demo riding the RT recently I loved not *feeling the heat* and honestly.... I am tired of the noise! The BMW will pass you on a HD like you are standing still, and you'll never hear it coming. Also, yes.... the GS/RT riding position is so damned good for my low back. Best of luck.
I've been riding Harley full dressers 18 years. I'm on my forth HD 17 CVO limited and just added 2023 1250 GSA to the stable. Never owned any European with the exception of Royal Enfield or Japanese bikes. I'm having blast riding GSA almost 900 miles in 12 days .
I went from a R1250GSA late last year to a KTM Super Adventure A great bike but I've just switched back to a new GSA. I chose not to wait for the new model. and have no regrets...
@@timrodierides I'm an old fart now and couldn't really live with the vibes through the bars. It really likes to be 'ridden' all the time. Touring shortly and quite like the BMW backup for peace of mind. I did really like the KTM though too.
@@davidlythgoe8478 Got to agree, David. The GSA low is the nicest bike in traffic I've ever ridden. Riding position plus that smooth torque and trans are really difficult to beat. GSA has ½ degree less trail and that makes it turn in a little quicker...with the low suspension, you get slightly shorter wheelbase too. That makes it a giant, plush supermoto! Perfect for me.
You’re not allowed out on that bike without full Alu luggage (must be empty) and you simply must be wearing the Rallye tw*t suit. Them’s the rules. For extra bonus points add at least another 4 pairs of lights at the front, just in case you find yourself stuck in the wilds of Tunbridge Wells in the late evening. You can never be too careful…
When you own a GS you understand why they are everywhere these days, totally brilliant bike. The 1250 is so good I personally dont see the awaited 1300 being any kind of big leap, there will be more gadgets and a tad more wallop from the motor to counter the idea its behind the competition - but in the real world you dont really need more. Oh and more costly too of course. Never thought I would be a BMW man but here I am 😮 ps assisted cruise is actually a good idea and very useable but it ought to be switchable between assisted and fixed so the rider controls it as desired
I bought a well used 17.5 1200 GS Exclusive last year. Last of the 1200's. love it. It had 70 000Km on it Now it has 90 000 Km. Over 2000 of them on gravel roads. lots of 1000km days. Its been to the Arctic Ocean. The Top Of the World. and back again. Not sure where I'm going next. But it will be an adventure. No 1300 for me any time soon. Wouldn't want to get it dirty. Might upgrade to a less well used 1250. Sometime but for now this one runs great. I bought the GS to tour in more comfort. I'd never been bothered about going of piest until I got the GS then I thought. Why not I've got a GS. So I went for an adventure. When I passed through Chicken, the Old Timer I paid for a tank of gas. Asked what kind of bike I was on. When I said BMW, he pretty much lost interest and said 9 out 10 bike pass through are BMW. A fellar had passed through on an Honda AT earlier he was much more interested in it. He liked seeing the occasional KTM. But 9 out of 10 were BMW.
Thanks for the detailed review of this. After over 5 years of owning a FZ6R I think I'll be moving to one of these bikes in the future. I was looking at a Multistrada V4 but the prices are just absurd. Not to mention maintenance intervals. I'm glad to hear it's every bit as good as I'd hoped. Still not sold on it yet but I imagine riding one will change that
Ride an almost „vintage“ 2009 F800GS with 65’000k on the clock and love it. My girl just got herself a 22 1250GS and I must say: very nice bike. Just spent a few weeks in Croatia with the two bikes and there is just nothing that compares to a GS when it comes to eating up the miles. I have my heart set on a 1300 GSA for next summer, now that I have seen the light of a modern GS over mine. Great review, thanks!
Nice ride on roads I know well. When I had a 1200GS I went to Worthing to see the sea and have an ice cream. It's that sort of bike. I like the current ice grey look of the GSA but knowing the 1300 is coming I didn't want to shell out. Tiger 1200 RP is £5500 cheaper once you factor in luggage (which triumph include at times). Vibes are there at certain revs but not to an annoying extent for me personally.
I kept putting of buying a GS because of basically the stigma of GS riders …but I have one now and it’s without peer , I understand about KTMs and dukes but not for me ..the only thing I really miss is backlit switchgear ..you can stick adaptive cruise control up your chuff as I dislike and avoid dual carriageways and motorways .
Agree about the active cruise. It's more work on a big road than standard cruise anyway. It's always making decisions you don't want it to so you learn when to disable it etc. Standard cruise has many uses, like keeping your speed down through a town or when the friendly is following you.
Some of the comments make me laugh. For sure, some will buy the GS because others say it's good, but most of us have been riding for 25-40 years, and we know the best all-rounder when we find one. Our other bike or bikes is/are retros, sports bike, nakeds, scramblers etc. If folks think that BMW sell these by the bucket loads simply because of 'me-too', then they are clueless.
My new 2023 was just delivered to Dealer. Picking it up next Monday. Can wait. was thinking about waiting for 1300, but the issue is that it will be a replacement for STD and I was dreaming for years for GSA. 1400 as a replacement for GSA and will not be released and ready for purchase until 2025. Too much to wait
I’d say at least wait and see. With only another month or two to go it’d be advantageous to buy a r1250GS, even if First Gen models aren’t the best out the gate.
At this point? End of the season? New model coming? I'd say start looking for deals. Pull the trigger in October when the first 1300s have hit the showrooms. Dealers will be hopping to sell 1250s.
Great video Tim! Was curious what the handlebar mount is for the GoPro? Is the whole thing a RAM mount? Curious more on what the base is called that mounts to bars. Thanks.
Yup, it's a clamp at one end. It's made by RAM but it looks like it's pretty expensive! I don't remember paying this much for it, but it's lasted years with no problems: www.ram-mount.co.uk/camera-mounts/medium-tough-claw-mount-with-custom-gopro-hero-adapter?sort=p.sort_order&order=ASC&limit=20
Stock screen is crap, and rattles way too much for such a quality bike. I fit the Wunderlich Marathon screen to my 2022 GSA (with the screen stabilising kit from Wunderlich), and it is perfect, despite the fact that it looks like an early 90's hiphop haircut from the front of the bike when wound up to near its maximum extension. Does the job though, 90mph plus, helmet open with no stress on the rider, and you can wind it down all the way to get the wind on your face, should you so require.
2023 R1250GS Triple Black. She's not going away any time soon. She's my 7th bike. Yeah, I know what you're thinking. I call her 'Black Betty' (hence the 'she'). It almost sounds like a love affair doesn't it? 😂
The 1250 GS has reached an excellent, mature and reliable level in the last year of construction. That is why I just bought one again. It’s close to be a perfect bike for what I use. The 1300 er is therefore interesting at the earliest after 3 years of manufacturing. And only if it is noticeably lighter, free of teething problems and the quality in detail justifies the price.
See im in a dilema. I wanted a buy a 1290 SAS... but im thinking to buy a 2018 1200GSA as my mile muncher/tourer. And use the spare change and get a 1290R as the toy? Or just buy a one bike in the 1290SAS?
Little tip for filming with the gopro on your chin, set it up to superview, pov improves dramatically as you cam see mpre.ofnyour action with the handlebar
Yep, annoyingly I have a car channel where I use the same GoPro for in-car (where I use wide), and sometimes forget to flick it back to SV for the bike stuff 😂 Good nerd spotting though!
Believe it or not Ive had dare I say 14 gs's 😬on my 12th super adventure! Had lots of other big adventures inc the new tiger 1200 . Probably the best all round bike you can buy (gs) but zzzzz they do everything very well apart from lift your skirt and tickle your bum hole ! The ktm is just fun fun fun and fir me that's what motorbikes are all about ! I'm 61 and still love those 3rd gear power wheelies ! I'm sure at some point I may grow up but until then ......... Ktm 🤷🏼
The 1300 GS has is more sport orientated, better competition vs other brands,, apparently a Adventure version of the 1300 GS will be relaesed. Will be quite different to the first 1300 one. I'm 57 and have just bought an 1250 Rally thia does suits better for me. 🤗
Ooo. It's been 10 years since I had my Blackbird. It's got more top end and is far smoother than the GS, but otherwise it's like comparing apples and oranges. GS is going to be comfier over long distances, but more wind buffeting if you're tall like me. GS has far more nimble handling (though I did the shock-shim mod on my BB, but even still), and oodles more low-down shove. Unless you're on a very fast sweeping road, the GS would be comfier and faster I daresay. But the Blackbird is such a peach.
I have a question. I got my motorbik license in 2015 and never rode a bike again (except for 125 and 300 cc motorscooters). I really love the 1250 looks and everone says this is a great bike. Should i start “light” or the 1250gs could be just as good as well? I am a rather safe rider…. Not in it for the speed.
You'd be fine starting on a GS - if you feel comfy getting your feet down and managing the weight at a stop you'll be fine, I know a few people who have started on a GS.
I bought a Harley touring right after getting my license in the USA, but I took my practice seriously and hit the parking lot nearly every day for months developing my slow speed maneuvering skills. I'd say that the BMWs are so much more forgiving than the Harley below 8 mph. AND the GS is loaded with drop guards galore so if you drop the thing while practicing in the parking lot, who cares? Pick it up, and get back to work;)
I’d never buy the 1st of a new model (again!) You’re effectively testing the product and reporting issues back to the manufacturer until the 2nd year revision comes out.
Had three GSs, the last a 1250 GSA Exclusive, to be honest I got bored with the height and the weight but most importantly the ‘adventure’ image. Presently riding a lovely light Multi V2S, not as refined but a hell of a lot more fun to ride. Next time I think I’ll move back to BMW but not a GS but the RS, same engine but doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a refined sports tourer, the SE is in my opinion much better vfm than any GS and with the optional high bars a much better choice for most riders, especially those under six feet.
I’ve got the R1250 R ,Triple Black it’s absolutely incredible, the only problem is wind protection but you can get a screen on it but it literally is a dream to ride, the torque is brilliant 🤩
i switched from a RS (with handle bar risers etc) to a 1250GSA. As good as the RS in cornering and frontwheel feedback the all over tool for me is the GSA.
Good decision > RS...now for 6 years and 100000 km my love, no probs, only RDC makes me crazy:-) you buy one bike and get two >> road/rain modus like a harley/furniture truck, chillout, BUT dynamic mode hell is coming, fly the mountains through:-))
I love this GS😍 and I'm under 30. In the near future I will sell my Speed triple 1200RS😭 and buy this GS. I like long trips more and more and I can't take as many things as I would like on my wonderful Triple 1200RS. The only thing that worries me is that I'm short ass but GS can take a light beating so it should be ok. 💪
Love a lot of things about the Beemer. Ridden a few, just hate hitting my shins on the engine when the foot is down. GS owners, is that something you just get used to when walking the bike, offroad etc?
My first day on a GS is spent twatting my shins like there's no tomorrow, but you quickly get used to it. It does mean my feet don't go down in quite as natural a place as on other ADV bikes though.
I have the R1200GS Pepsi and had a good offer yesterday for the new Rally/Tophy in nearly full build except sport suspension (no way to get one these days) and thought ok but I dont ride enough to buy e new one. Cause no one knows anything about the 1300 I wait 2-3 years.
I imagine most people buy one because they intend to do a mega-tour I imagine most people sell their GS because they never went touring on it.... Not for me...too heavy, too expensive, not nimble enough, and let's face it, they aren't known for good reliability
Exactly what I did bought a tiger in hopes of touring in 7 months I’d done about 1500 miles on it partly because it was boring partly due to other commitments now have a mt09 sp best decision I’ve made I actually have fun when I get chance to get out on it now
Absolutely love my te rally I've toured once on it in Spain amazing bike , i don't care about the image it's got because it's great fun to ride & with the gold rims it looks great to my bonkey eyes ! I've just purchased a new street triple moto2 for giggle and have to say im probably more comfortable on the gs down my local lanes 😂
I have the 1250GS myself and i would say Buy a USED 1250GS(A) or wait and buy the 1300GS if you feel like it is worth the extra money. They will probably cost a whole lot..
I do hope BMW sort out the TFT, yes it's great but it lets itself down really badly with phone & music play. My biggest gripe is you can't use hey google or Siri & going through your phone book manually on the go is bloody dangerous
I pair my Cardo to my phone and leave the bike out of it. Cardo verbal commands work great for music and phone. I have the phone mounted on a Quad-Lock so I can see the screen. It works so well, I wouldn't think of trying to use a bike interface. This system will move right over to a sport bike or any bike. I also use the bike's Garmin Nav VI for finding my way on trips and following GPX routes that others make. That works great too, but I keep my phone for music, answering calls and the odd times in the city when Google maps will speak directions to me. So far, this combo has worked better than trying to force BMW stuff to bend to my will.
I would like Radar cruise. My friend has it on his RT. Also, Homelink would be nice. I have it on my Goldwing at it makes the arrival home a lot easier. I keep a small opener in the little cubby near the fuel filler but its a pain. Irritating that you have to have a senate piece of electronics to reset service indicators
I've never ridden one of these though I did try a Rockster many years ago. Do you think a person of 168cm would find it difficult to get a toe down on a GS?
rhoover: Yes I do, but the low suspension version is a full 2" lower than standard GSA. About 1" lower than GS. If you're not off-roading a lot, you don't need all that suspension length anyway.
I'm ready to purchase a new GS Adventure, but am patiently waiting for the new 1300 to be released. I haven't decided if I will get the 1300 or get a good deal on a 1250. I feel like I am watching the clock at work and time is dragging on forever. So excited.
For a touring bike I'd rather go for the R12xxRT series. I cannot imagine there are many who would take theirs on a dirt patch either. I ride a bike for the feel and actual riding which all the latest and greatest do not give. It's like my 4 wheels, too many computers doing stuff and I sit and steer (do pay attention also!!!). You get my point. Anyday I'd have a CBX1000, a head turner indeed which needs to be ridden not sat on and pointed to the horizon. One day....... Do like the review.
Have you ridden a multi V4? When it’s done right, the computers don’t take anything from the fun of the drive, same when it’s done right in a car, like in the latest RS4 etc.
I had a '17 1200 RTW. Nice bike and very quiet with an Aeroflow Tall screen on it. I did a 700 mile day with no earplugs and no ear-ringing that night. That said, I like my 1250GSA low better. I tried 3 different windscreens plus Aerowings to get the wind noise down. With all that, it's still got a bit more wind noise than the RT, but it does everything else a little better and is generally more fun to ride and live with.
@@Inked_CR are you sure? I don’t know many people who want to go much beyond 200 miles without a stop and a leg stretch….. which means on tour it’s just a stat……and when you get where you are going, the multi V4 is far more fun and thus more rewarding to have taken.
@alanprice9938 it might be fun, be it's not an adventure bike. It's a sport tourer. 2023 model might for 200 if you're lucky, but it's also 27k which is bloody ridiculous. 1260s is just as powerful at 13k, but again, not an adventure bike.
New one will be heavier. That's a big step in the wrong direction in my opinion. Power is useless if they're just making it fatter. But the handling will get worse. Even if it's marginally so. And Adaptive cruise control on a bike is just scary! It's scary enough in a car when someone casually merges in front of you and your car goes full panick brake, brake checking who ever is behind you without regard. That stuff starts happening on bikes and it'll be throwing riders off constantly. A rider needs to be in 100% control of his braking input. And the technology is a waste anyways, a rider needs to also be responsible for his follow distance as road conditions change braking distances. I've ridden over wet wooden bridges, and concrete bridges well below freezing. I would never EVER dare to even breathe on the front brake lever in those conditions, if the bike did it for me and put me down. I'd be pretty upset
I drive a Tesla .... while *"autopilot"* is a great tool, I always leave my foot hovering over the accel pedal just in case it brake checks for such reasons. Never ride behind one on a moto.
Beware the Next Big Thing effect. This bike has the history and dev path the 1300 does not have. Five years from now, I'll consider the 1300, for now I'll keep my 23 model Rallye.
I have to agree. Active Cruise in its present iteration, does not belong on any bike. Rider should be able to choose normal Cruise if they have this. It shouldn't be forced on them...and then there's the camera alignment problems, which will show their ugly heads as soon as one of these gets off-road.
Ok lost me on the vibration of the tigers :) I was looking at buying a GS - but the weight of the bike put me off and the extra 12-14 grand. Admittedly i only have a tiger 900 rally pro - but once you get the revs up that little vibration with the sound coming from the engine .. its like a cocktail of sensory inputs that i just cant not love.
On the 1200 it's like a cocktail of sedatives that make your hands go numb! And I'm not a habitual vibration whinger… I think I'm the only person who didn't mind the vibes on the BMW S1000XR!
I am suprised by that. The 1250 shift cam lump is relatively new compared with the 1200 engine which had been out many years. Not sure why they see this is needed at the moment. Hopefully they will ditch their poor proprietry connectivity app for Apple Car play!
Because the twin cam is a superior lump - truly smooth power curve without the 1200 flatspots (especially re euro 4), no fueling issues (especially euro 4), and a torque curve that means no more up and downshifting between 3 and 4th on rapid country roads.
I pair my Cardo to my phone directly and use a Quadlock. If I get a call on the bike, I see on the phone who it is. I tell Cardo "Answer" and it picks up. No buttons. It plays music with verbal commands also. No need to complicated it with dodgy bike electronics. That said, I finally have a Garmin Nav V1 that works. It is a joy. Great screen and you can push the upper Menu button and have the wunder-wheel control the zoom level. (Turn Garmin's auto zoom off). It's great!
If you are so unfamiliar with your bike that you have to look down at your hands every time you need to push a button nighttime riding is not for you. No amount of button lights will unhide the hi/low beam switch!
I'm looking to buy a R12000GS from 2013, Question is, should I wait for the 1300 to be released in order to get a better deal or should I just dish out the cash right now? :)
@@conkerman01 I have to admit that compared to other bikes, the GS lacks a bit of that ballistic shove when pushed, and a bit asthmatic at higher revs, but I don’t think it’s boring, still an incredible bike, with an ability to waft very rapidly on sweepers and mountain roads.
Ok, for an Adventure Bike, why on earth does it have all that beak plastic on the front? Is it to brake off when the bike is dropped? if so, forget I ever asked.
That is a stupid question. How can you decide for something that you don't even know? Maybe it will be an amazing bike, maybe just a little bit better, who knows...
Wait until the 1300 is out then all the doctors pensioners and dentists will sell the 1250 on the cheap you’ll have to change the road 6 on them though if you plan on taking it off road
They weight 600 lbs loaded up. Off-road on a bike like that is over-rated, imho. I went for Trail Attack 3 90/10 tires on my GSA low. It's not a dirt bike. It's a road bike...and a fine one. I pretty much solved the wind-noise issues on mine but it took a month of trying things and reading. I ended up with V-Stream Deluxe Touring screen, Aeroflow Aerowings set, a Wunderlich dash cover that fits sort of around the forks and a Wunderlich handlebar storage bag. The bag and dash cover decrease noise and wind coming up from the fork area. The Aerowings stop wind coming around the screen an into your face. V-Stream Deluxe beat Aeroflow and Wunderlich screens for protection, although I think Wunderlich screen is great (no buffeting), but needs the helper clip-on screen to be effective on the highway.
Blimey, this video's blown up a bit more than expected. Ex-GS owners - tell us in the comments what you replaced it with!
Well I did something stupid as I sometimes do. I swopped the GSA for a KTM Super Adventure and bought an HD Roadglide for a while before realising what a daft idea it was. Nothing wrong with any of the bikes - just a moment of madness on my part.
@@davidlythgoe8478 I have a KTM 890 Adventure R and a Harley-Davidson Deluxe. But I almost always take the GSA.

Sleeping in the garage with 2 beauties, how luck you are 😆
I think we’ve all slept in the garage! lol!
If I could only have 1 bike it would be the GSA. I have a 2021 triple black R1250GSA with all the options I could buy at the time. Fantastic motorcycle.
I own a 2022 GS1250, zero buyers remorse. Best bike I ever owned!
I purchased a used 22 R1250 GS and I love it! Triple Black is awesome! Tuktoyaktuk next June.
I am also not a fan of the looks of the new bike based on spy shots and not interested in radar cruise control.
same thing I also don't like the look of the new 1300gs but it's nothing new these days that the new design in BMW is disappointing, just look at the new cars they produce😂🤢 and yes cruise control with radar maybe it's nice on the K1600 or Goldwing but nothing worth waiting for
nothing beats a GS nothing. BMW makes great cars but they build the best bikes ever.
It has to be said, your presentation is really good.. you have your own unique style, so keep it up🤘🏾
Last week I did a 758 mile ride in one go ,stopped for fuel and a toilet break a few times and have to say I was still fresh when I arrived at my mates house ,amazing bikes can’t fault them
Yup. I'm known to get fuel without dropping a stand and just get going again. I love pumps that take credit cards!
I’m in the second week of a 15,000km Australian wander on my ‘21 r1250GS and I just love the way it handles everything with aplomb.
aplomb, you sound like a typical GS owner alright.
What, are we mocking people for having decent vocabularies now?
@@roadwarrior8560 you can look it up if you don’t understand it…
that's all to say:-) You want start immediately and go for a world tour > GS..haha...be save, ride a boxer. It's a legend, coming from the 80is and still most sold bike >> haha, italian, japanese etc.
The GS does a lot of things good, it's a great allrounder. I only have 1 bike so for me it's the GS adventure.
Completely understandable - it just does it all!
Radar cruise control! Just a gimmick, I didn't buy a bike to sit behind stuff!
Exactly!!
@@daveshakespeare1610 Hey, if you've happy to constantly adjust your speed on congested mways, then I'm happy as well.
I wouldn’t have bought one 20 years ago..but I’m 58 now & love it!..last bike before I hang up the Klim, I have all the lights as well👍

Careful about that “last bike” comment. I bought a new GS 2 years ago at age 71. It now has 20,000 miles on it , many in the dirt.
Thanks for subscribing! Glad you've found a bike that can keep you riding :)
Having owned Harleys in the past, I predict the GS will become the go to bike whilst the others gather dust.😀
Now that the wait is almost over, I'll wait but if the 1250gs has an advantage for the price I'll pick it up
Bought mine this February triple black , absolutely superb love it came from a Multistrada 🤦♂️ don’t regret it at all 👍😂
Me too 💯👍love my triple black 1250 GSA
I went from a R1250GSA late last year to a KTM Super Adventure A great bike but I've just switched back to a new GSA. I chose not to wait for the new model. and have no regrets...
What made you go back to BMW out of interest?
Brilliant. I expect you've read the other comments. They ALL own electric SUVs, the knobs!
Don't forget the airbag vest 😂

@kwakithailand With an attitude like that, I hope karma catches up with you.
Thanks for making such enjoyable and informative content!
Thank you for such kind and heart-warming replies! I shall continue!
I have many bikes of deferent brands, but the GS is my love and favorite. But you did not answer your question, should I wait for the new 1300 GS?
I'd just buy the 1250 and get a good deal!
Yes worth mentioning adjusting the chain on a shaft drive usually fixis NADA, let alone a quickshifter PMSL
That's the joke
Some of the comments make me laugh. For sure, some will buy the GS because others say it's good, but most of us have been riding for 25-40 years, and we know the best all-rounder when we find one. Our other bike or bikes is/are retros, sports bike, nakeds, scramblers etc. If folks think that BMW sell these by the bucket loads simply because of 'me-too', then they are clueless.
Yeah, £15k+ is a lot of money to spend just to copy other people… turns out the bike is actually really good. Who knew?!
Entschuldigen Sie mich, bitte, das ist "Telelever" vorderradaufhängung (front suspension), ja?

Yep agree with your conclusions - having just gone from the 1290 SAS (V2) back to a GS (with a slightly loudd baaarpy Arrow can)
And the BMW seat is probable about 10 times comfier the the KTM wood bench. Or what do you think?
Yeah it absolutely is. I've got the KTM comfort seat and it is… not comfortable.
Congratulations from Brazil! Excellent video!
@@timrodierides Thank you so much! Keep up the great work!! Looking to get the 24 1250 GSA. Anxiously waiting.
I'm going to need 150hp to justify selling my 1200 for a new one.
Thanks for the entertaining review..id prolly go for a touring alternative due to trip with wife though.

I've currently got a Blackbird and love it but am also tempted by a GS. As a former Blackbird owner, how does the GS compare?
That's really interesting, thanks Tim. A friend has just bought one so I can feel a test ride coming on 😜 Keep up the good work
Cows mating! Someone better let the bull know.
He was sitting in the corner watching with a video camera
Pick it up, and get back to work;)
Save on the outgoing 1250 model, and wait and see what issues may crop up with the the 1300.
I’d never buy the 1st of a new model (again!)
You’re effectively testing the product and reporting issues back to the manufacturer until the 2nd year revision comes out.
V4S Multi for me.
I’ve got the R1250 R ,Triple Black it’s absolutely incredible, the only problem is wind protection but you can get a screen on it but it literally is a dream to ride, the torque is brilliant 🤩
..or the RT, same engine and power but lower, more manouverable and more comfoprtable in my opinion.
i switched from a RS (with handle bar risers etc) to a 1250GSA.
Can't wait for the bigger, heavier and more expensive, kitchen sink equipped next GS.
I imagine most people buy one because they intend to do a mega-tour
I imagine most people sell their GS because they never went touring on it....

Life is short, and you only live once...and today is the best time to take your bike to the trip that you were always thinking of. Get it.
So excited.
Have you seen a 1300 yet ????
@@alanprice9938v4 multi is pointless being an adventure bike with a such shit fuel range
Buy the Multistrada V4s, 4 year unlimited mileage warranty and much much longer service intervals. Smiles per miles is awesome.
Good looking bike. Would you go for that rather than your KTM?
I would wait for the 3000GS. 😁
Hope that the r1250 will get cheaper when the 1300 hits the market
Try a GS that’s not an adventure
It’s ace-less weight less bulk and fast
Ok lost me on the vibration of the tigers :) I was looking at buying a GS - but the weight of the bike put me off and the extra 12-14 grand. Admittedly i only have a tiger 900 rally pro - but once you get the revs up that little vibration with the sound coming from the engine .. its like a cocktail of sensory inputs that i just cant not love.
On the 1200 it's like a cocktail of sedatives that make your hands go numb! And I'm not a habitual vibration whinger… I think I'm the only person who didn't mind the vibes on the BMW S1000XR!
ps I didn't mind the vibes on the Tiger 900 at all!
Don’t like the scaffolding that spoils the bike and the one pannier doesn’t look right all skewiff but getting to appreciate them more at 66 😢
I'm waiting for R1500GS with titanium footpegs
For extra sparks?
Yep 😀 drive safe@@timrodierides
It's great!
I don’t understand why people say it has a boring engine. Bollocks I say😂
I totally agree!
I’m waiting for the 1850cc
Find a really good deal, and get the current one. It is a known, winner, quantity. Just make sure you save a ton of money, as much as possible.
I would wait if it were me, regardless of the new bike easier to get a deal in winter which is when the new bike appears.
@@therealquaid1694 Yeah I think so too, It's jost so hard to not spend your cash when you're excited about a bike. Hopefully I manage to do so :)
Don't buy one unless you like being bored.
If you see a bike you like, get it rather than miss a whole summer. No amount of money can get that back…..let alone a minor saving.
I've owned 2 1200s. Great bike. The Adv is a bit porky for me.
This fully loaded GSA in US is slightly over $30K
Ok, for an Adventure Bike, why on earth does it have all that beak plastic on the front? Is it to brake off when the bike is dropped? if so, forget I ever asked.
Ummm…not much info on the new 1300gs. Sorry, but your title was misleading 😅
Sorry - I was trying to pitch it more as a review of the GS with a bit of future gazing. Thanks for watching though
@@timrodierides no problem, great video otherwise!
I rather wait to see how is that new engine an new gadgets going for a while, maybe 1 year at least or so.
Never buy a first year bike, car, truck… etc… it will have issues.
The R1250GS is tested… and crazy good bike.
The shaft drive is awefull!
Provide more detail please……can’t say it’s awful and not explain why.
@@KDSchiestermakes the bikes heavy as a pig and you get about 25% drivetrain loss and if they go wrong they’re ££££?
I have done 5500 km on a V4 Rally and definitely do not want to change my bike for another one.
I thought a V4 Rally was a SAAB???
Lustiges Vorderende Gummikuh-Wackeln-Kompensationsgerät!
Couldn't have said it better myself
Buy now, because the new Gs will be launched in 2024. And I think the current GS is still the best.
