- Welcome to Sterlington, A place where the settlers are worked like dogs, For long hours in the heat and snow on very little food. All in the pursuit to build a glorious castle for the tyrant Sterling.
In this series we are playing on standard difficulty, on a hillside map running the a new life scenario. Starting with three settlers Alfred, Elenor and of course Sterling.
In this episode we finish building up the soil on the west side of the castle, and my word was it a mission. Now I know your all probably going to as me why I didn't just leave it hollow, and honestly I don't have an answer other then I'm a idget.
A New Life
The plague had ravaged the British Isles, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Untold millions went to an early grave. And those left standing were plunged into poverty, brutally scarred by the horrors that they had witnessed. Nothing would ever be the same again.
As the earth quickened in spring of the year 1353, Sterling, Elenor and Alfred set off into the wilderness to claim a piece of the land as their own, as was their right, in the eyes of God and under the Law. Here, they may lay down the foundations for some kind of future. Perhaps hope will follow.
Good land is there for the taking, In all four corners of this once mighty land, citizens are rebuilding in the hope that the horrors of the past few years can be left behind. It's possible that there will be fighting, drought, sickness, hunger but what of it?
'Life goes on,' says Elenor, 'and so must we.
Into a landscape of rolling hills and ancient, crumbling forts the companions trekked. Each ascent rewarded Alfred with a view that stretched for many leagues. No enemy approach would go unseen, he thought. They built a camp that would, in time, become the settlement of Sterlington.

Those timelapses are always utterly satisfying. And no, it doesn't look like chocolate cake. It's a big giant castle!
Cheers Anthony im glad your enjoying the time-lapses. I still think the ground looks like chocolate cake, or maybe I'm just hanging out for cake.
As a John, I'm cheering him on.
The legend that is john. Bards will write sonnets and songs of his digging prowess.
U were being super relaxed on ur settlers in this ep, not even 3 huge building projects happening simultaneously?!
Far to relaxed, luckily I make up for that in later episodes. Can't have these settlers thinking they can slack off
I’m not seeing the ate in a great hall bonus on a bunch of ur settlers, hopefully you shift your smaller meal storage into their sometime later in this series. Loving all the progress tho!
I found that the settlers would just eat anywhere with a seat, no matter what I did with the great hall. I chalked it down to the large footprint of the castle. So to combat this I kinda build a few great halls around to try and fix this.
@@thesterlingplays thankfully I never run into this problem, as my builds are significantly smaller in scale
I envy you.
Tbh I think I would have put wooden beams across the lower levels and saved the dirt for the top level
Yeah I completely agree, especially when you see what I have planned for the area. I'll need to dig a big portion of it up again.
You have 2 female cows and 2 male sheep? Well, I have an idea... 😏
42:24 Oh well, nevermind
Are you suggesting I become a mad scientist and splice a cow with a sheep, what would that creation even look like. A cow sporting a sheep wool afro.
