I’ve always thought it would be so cool to hang around a campfire and just listen to the stories of you and Dave. What a treat to be part of this conversation between you two. No fire needed!
Great show ..!..IM 71 YEARS OLD IVE Lived..a life full of..adventure..I so appreciate you guys being able to share yours with me.."THESE ARE ...THE GOOD OLE DAYS!..KEEP EM COMING
Jim, this is like Batman making an appearance on Scooby Doo. Aka, this is AWESOME. My wife and I watched Baird and Whipple videos several years ago which inspired us to buy the joy of our life; our eastern Ontario off grid cabin. Your videos inspire more than you’ll ever know. Thank you to you all.
Yay , I subscribe to Dave's channel as well as Brook's and their children's channels and love them. Thank's Jim for having Dave on. Dave & Brook are very smart in their way of thinking and how they do things in life to make things easier and affordable not being tied to a bank . amazing and interesting chat with Dave I was either laughing or smiling all the way through. I thoroughly enjoyed this Thank you. Watching from Ontario Canada.👍
I'm a recently disabled ( not for sympathy, just for context ) 57yr old across the Niagra river from Canada. I live vicariously through the both of you GENTLEMEN , LOL 😊 . Thank you both for the videos of wholesome content in an insane world .
I'm loving this. I took a small ship through False Pass. I could have never made it through the Pass without the help of my mate who had worked in the Bering Sea for years. The scale of the mountain above the little village beneath it, made the houses look like doll houses in a movie setting. And yes, there are a lot of Halibut and Brown Bear there.
Another great interview Jim! Great to see the channel is taking another transformation into a different direction and its Great to see that Tori's channel is taking huge strides and breaking trail 👣. Keep up the good work both of you, great people and even better parents! Cheers 🍻 Ladies and Germs
This was awesome, Jim! Thanks for arranging this. The Whipple's are just amazing people, and I love being able to just listen to their stories and about how they live, essentially. Combining it with your stories about your travels and it is so entertaining. Again, thank you!
Love Dave Whipple.. this was a Fantastic podcast. Dave has many words of wisdom. Look forward to seeing/hearing about your planned trip together next summer…it will be EPIC!!!!
@JimBairdAdventurer, Jim, THIS is a FANTASTIC episode! The information in this video is so valuable and 100% on-point! I wrote an article a few years back about the theory and romance -v- reality of Wilderness Adventure/Living. Whether camping (a.k.a. bushcraft or "survival,") or adventure tripping, as you do, and how there is ALWAYS the Monday Morning QBs who THINK they know better or are better, even though they never have nor will ever do anything near as involved as what we do out in the wilds. I have followed Dave and Brooke's YT channels for years and it was great to watch them on Season 4, which I thought for sure they were going to win (sorry, didn't know about you and Ted at that point.) Dave has a wealth of knowledge and experience that people should take heed of and learn from if they are thinking about living a similar lifestyle. Again, GREAT episode. I am watching Brooke's episode next. I'm binge watching while taking care of my ailing 81 y.o. Mom, so I'll get to watch most, if not all, of Yours and Ted's videos.
Nice interview, I've been following Dave's videos for long time and added as my favourite encourager. I share same values and find him a man with coherent common sense and strong personality. Thanks for bringing him.
I enjoyed this you two, thank you. BTW - Jim I found you when I was watching Joe's channel, where you and Ted visited and stripped the bark from some logs -- and looked you up. Dave, I found Brooks channel ( how to poop in the woods was my first one :D ) and started watching you also. What I have loved about you all is that you've both responded to one of my comments at some point in time (as did Ted also). It made this old lady feel so special and you all have a special place in my heart. Again, Thank you.
We both know, never count on the communication equipment..although it's a maybe bonus, what is a lifeline is the onboard location awareness. Spatial bearing Love the show bro Top notch chatter
I listened to all of it while working! Very inspiring and enjoyable, thank you! I have tried being a Woodsman type UA-camr for three years but didn't have any success getting subscribers so I'm taking break to rethink everything. This will help motivate me to try again this Summer. I'd appreciate advice from anyone here.
Can't believe I am listening to a guy talk about The Red Green show and Da Yoopers! Blast from the past man. I grew up on a bay of Lake Superior on the Keweenaw Peninsula. We survived some incredible weather out there. Bad storms straight off the lake. It made me very weather resistant for the rest of my life. Every other kind of weather feels moderate. I wanted to get away from anything Yooper as fast as possible. Fond memories now.
Loved this podcast! I joined your and Dave's UA-cam channels right after I watched you on Alone. Dave has a voice for radio. I could feel the mutual respect and camaraderie right through the screen. ❤
Great pieces with Brooke and Dave. Man, Dave, if you ever want to go cruising around on dual sports in the UP, I am down. Love your stuff. We have a farm bordering the Hiawatha NF and a little cabin we are working on, off grid on Lake Superior just north of us (thanks for the cabin inspiration). I love your and Brooke’s outlook on life and family, and the whole not conforming into society mentality. Would love to share a campfire with yah!
I remember a couple of dudes lost their fire rods really early on in the Alone series, and that one guy who was smack talking about bears before going caved in a few hours after he was put in the bush. Yeah, the wheat from the chaff! You guy's are the bomb!
Manythings grabbed my attention as I listened to this podcast ..The topic of bears really had me ..at one time my fear was moderate..and only newly moved from the South of Ontario..to a small Village, Serpent River ..which located South of Elliot lake..One season it was asked for us to bring our house garbage to our local dump ..My Native friend no fear ..as we pulled into the gates, the site keeper has 3/4 rifles on hand ..I was curious..as we proceeded to make our toss of house wholed garbage, I never would have seen so many bears ..And after my count of 40 , even I was nervous .living hear I have many bears sitings and stories and it's hoped you liked this one.. thanks 😊
Thanks so much Jim, I wish that I could subscribe to all of the channels that I like, but there’s just not enough time in my day. I really love the content of the people who love the outdoors as much as I do , just awesome! 👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯
Dave's comments on the intellectual knowledge vs the practical knowledge of living in the bush reminded me of that scene in *The Flight of the Phoenix* where Jimmy Stewart's character finds out that the aircraft designer was actually a MODEL aircraft designer!
Bro.. this was awesome, thanks for the heads up from Bush Radical. Listened to this at the gym and cooking dinner. So awesome to just listen in to this.
Great podcast Gentlemen! Lots of fun listening to this one. As for crayfish, have you ever had Crawfish Monica? Well next time you find yourselves in New Orleans at Jazz Fest, check it out, most delicious thing you will ever eat! Or you can order a kit online ;-) I really enjoyed the discussion about your "Alone" experiences and insights as I have been watching it since the beginning and I am a huge fan of this show. The skills involved and the mental fortitude it takes to even consider such a competition is staggering to me. Kudos to you all!
@JimBairdAdventurer you need to set up an online bookstore where books you refernec in these podcasts can be purchased and you get a piece of the sale. Amazon?
I would say that knowledge is the key to survival in the wilderness . Get to know before you go in. I would not go in because I have not enough knowledge right now. Preparedness is I would think is key to taking the psychological out of it.
Just tuned into this episode. Often tune in to each of your channels. (Baird and Whipples) Totally enjoyed listening to two outdoor guys comparing notes and recommending reading material to each other. Comparing Canadian and U.S. politics, latitude (who is further north?,). bear stories, Really enjoyed your conversation.
Great interview w/ Dave of BushRadical! Request that you interview fellow adventurer Justin Barbour of Newfoundland, he's done some amazing solo adventures hiking and canoeing across Labrador and Newfoundland. He has a great channel as well.
I am a fan of both you guys. Was really routing for both of you to win Alone. I have been a subscriber since you put your UA-cam videos out. It gave me inspiration to start mine. I like the editing, filming and adventure parts. Would be awesome to see you guys do a trip together. I think the black bears in Alaska are a lot meaner because they have to deal with Grizzlies and always have to back down to them. The main problem i see is people feeding wild life and getting them habituated to humans. I have even seen it with snapping turtles. Went to a campground that people were feeding snapping turtles, i was fishing bare foot standing in the water and happen to see this large snapping turtle swimming right at me with its mouth wide open. Seem more scarier then a black bear. Same camp ground tourist were playing tug of war with a cooler and a black bear. Some people need just common sense, one thing you guys teach in your videos. Cheers
My sister lived on Kodiak and didn't have any bear stories. She didn't even see many. All she had to say is they're huge and top of the food chain there. I have also heard that Moose is as bad or worse than bears, especially during the rut. Is that true? Oh! I absolutely love the Red Green Show! 😊
Lake Superior is 500 ft. above sea level. Eagle Mountain in Minnesota is 2300 feet above sea level and is in the Laurentian Mountains and the highest point. Great vlog Jim. Dave is a very interesting person and I am a new subscriber to his channel. Thanks. P.S. Dave is right when he said follow your dreams. You'll be alright.
I’m kind of the same way I rode motocross and I would never ride on the street ever and I got myself a KLR 650 and I do a little bit of street riding but mostly adventure back roads riding and it’s a safe as you make it but yeah, just a lot of 20 mile an hour 30 mile an hour dirt-road riding just going down the dirt roads not Any gnarly trails just forest service roads and you’ll have a blast. The hard part is bringing everything you need and nothing you don’t need !!! 🤓
Check our Dave Whipple’s UA-cam channel here: youtube.com/@Bushradical?si=7gV_8Fc3C_jpnfOJ thanks for watching!
Jim, you are so good at absolutely everything you do. This show is no exception. And Dave Whipple..... I could listen to him all day long!
Agreed on Dave! And thanks a lot
I’ve always thought it would be so cool to hang around a campfire and just listen to the stories of you and Dave. What a treat to be part of this conversation between you two. No fire needed!
I love Bushradical! Aka Dave Whipple!
Dave is a natural born story teller. I started watching him when he had about 1500 subs. Always a good video from him.

Absolutely great show… love listening to the stories!!
Dave Whipple, the master story teller.
My brother and I joke that we should get him to narrate our videos lol
@@JimBairdAdventurer I’d love to hear him narrate a Jack Carr novel. 🙌

Great interview, Jack, RI, USA
3 way podcast with Whipple and Robinette and each of you cook your favorite meal you had in the bush
2:46 honorable mention to Farley Mowat (check out his many books), my personal favorite is 'Born Naked'

❤️❤️❤️you guys !
Check out Guy Clark's song ...The Cape...it goes well with you guys.
Some bears might be born deaf. Just like 1 of 8 dalmation dog pups usually are. This is one of the most interesting video's ever.
I am in the market for a new GPS. I am using an Garmin InReach, and I think I will go with the InReach 66i.
Wow Jim ! I took care of an old man that was in the nursing home that I was working at, and ,HIS name was HAP WILSON !!!
Bear talk and why some are aggressive. Made me think about the pod of Orcas that are now attacking boats.
❤
